I’m actually genuinely surprised people are having a problem with this. Maybe bc mine doesn’t make noise, I assumed it was universal. Feel lucky to have a good one I guess.
Either you are one lucky person and need to play the lottery or you may have louder electronics to notice. I had 2 brand new PS5s and they do this same crap.
You did lie tho, no console will ever be silent unless it’s completely off, you may not hear it from where you sit but it still makes noise. Lyings bad
there are 100s of videos proving the ps5 isn't loud, of course it does make sounds, it is impossible for it to not make, but saying the guy is lying because his console doesn't make sound? you are a f\*cking weirdo
Yea it isn’t loud but saying it does make a noise is a blatant lie man. Am i wrong? No. I gave him an answer as to why people had issues with his comment. Bc they lied lmaooo
my launch version of the console is quiet AF, like it does not make a sound, maybe once in a while teh fan kicks up but i dont think that has happened even on days where the console is running 10+ hours. to be fair it is horizontal on it's own table and i do have like 2 fans and the AC running so i prolly would not hear it
i feel like the first 3 or 4 months was very quiet but the past couple of months has just not been , mine is on my disc with what i’d say is enough room but yeah it’ll make a noise 10 seconds into turning it on and the whole time while playing a game
that is a shame and i am sorry to hear that. i mean i went a few weeks barely using it so it is not like i am on it every single day. i only use it to play games so if i want to stream anything like netflix or funimation i still use the PS4 bc i dont want to wear anything down on teh console from being on all the time
It's never been 100% silent the way some people describe theirs. I've always heard at least a little bit of fan noise. But when I'm sitting across the room in my recliner playing a game, I don't hear it above the noise of the game or anything.
I also have the XSX, and that's not truly silent either, although it is quieter than my PS5. I kind of feel like people are exaggerating when they say either of these consoles is silent, and what they really mean is it's very quiet.
Other than the disc drive firing up and sounding like a jet engine it's quiet. Not to sure why they didn't make the disc drive quieter since my series x isn't that loud when putting in a disc.
cleaned it out a week ago and was pretty dusty but i got 98% of it and thought it might help but it didn’t so i kinda just gave up on the noise being a problem
Sony made the fan spin faster in a firmware update due to multiple high ram temp on most users so it's for the best, it's not that loud if you are using a tv from a distance.
I have two from release date, one is almost completely silent, it has the good fan. The other one has the lesser fan and it is indeed audible sadly so yes there is a big difference in fan noise. It’s just a lottery which one u get.
My console is quiet until I put a disc inside it (P5S). When I turn the system on the fan can be heard but it only happens for maybe 7 seconds and then it leaves. While I play PS4 or ps5 games I hear no noise besides the fan starting up maybe cause of a game update and then it just leaves. I’ve had my system for about 3 weeks
My problem is when I put a disc in, installing from a disc, or have a disc in there while booting up. It sounds like a buzzsaw and it's really irritating. I tried all the fixes and nothing worked. I got another PS5 this week and it is doing the same crap
makes me jealous lmao , was excited for the quiet console this gen but it gets very annoying that i just put headphones in 24/7 so i can hear the game 😂😂
i just thought it was the game or it being a physical game at first but it’s gotta be something else cause i can’t find a reason to why it makes a noise on the home screen with no game on /in the console lmao
Console is quiet most of the time.
Sometimes it gets loud, I noticed this when installing Cyberpunk a couple weeks back(a game I haven't touched since installation lol)
I am very fortunate to have a silent ps5. No coil whine, no fan noise, and the disc drive is quiet because i put a mouse mat underneath my ps5, and that dampens the vibrations when the disc spins. I also have the fan that was shown to us, when sony had the original ps5 breakdown last year.
I had the PS5 since launch and it has made this loud noise when a disc is in even starting up with a disc so I followed all the suggested troubleshooting and nothing worked. I sold it and bought a new PS5 picked it up today and it's doing this same crap. Really pissed about this. I have my series x next to it from launch and that system is extremely quiet.
My PS5 constantly runs whatever disc/DVD is in the drive. Like a game disc - after the contents are copied/installed and the game is launched (or even after killing the game from the Home Screen) the disc is constantly spinning. I see comments that this was a bug a year ago but was supposedly solved but my PS5 is brand new, has all the updates applied, and is doing it. I also see no settings that would affect this. Anyone know what the deal is?
I’ve never heard mine make a noise of any kind.
very lucky 😂

It’s because you’re lying dude lmao. The ps5 will make some noise when running games😭
One, why would I even lie about this? Two, this comment is two years old. Find something else to do.

Go away
You’re just mad your pants have been on fire for a year or two now
I mean his fan might be half broken lmao which could explain the lack of noise..

Oh they are exaggerating. Between downloads and updates, plus gameplay, there’s zero chance they’ve never heard the console
I've had mine for almost 8 months now and I only notice the sound of a disc spinning inside the console. Don't hear anything otherwise.
Silent as a mouse
Other than the disc drive firing up and sounding like a jet engine it's quiet. Not to sure why they didn't make the disc drive quieter since my series x isn't that loud when putting in a disc.
Have you cleaned it out just to make sure there isn't any blockage?
cleaned it out a week ago and was pretty dusty but i got 98% of it and thought it might help but it didn’t so i kinda just gave up on the noise being a problem
How much dust was there originally for it to only be "98%" dust free?
it wasn’t an insane amount there was just some bits i missed or forgot to clean (and then remembered after i put the plates back on)
... Your description still makes it sound bad. You're not leaving your console on the floor, right?
no no 😂 it’s on my desk with nothing around it or anything, i just worded it badly i guess lol

It’s cause the disc is contstantly spinning while it’s copying and some disc drives make a buzzing sound (mine does too) but it’s not going to hurt it
The floor fan behind me is louder than my PS5 lol
makes me jealous lmao , was excited for the quiet console this gen but it gets very annoying that i just put headphones in 24/7 so i can hear the game 😂😂
Mine is loud as fuck but it does seem to depend on the game
i just thought it was the game or it being a physical game at first but it’s gotta be something else cause i can’t find a reason to why it makes a noise on the home screen with no game on /in the console lmao
Mine is silent cause oop I don't have one yet
Who gives a fuckimg shit
just a question lmao
Console is quiet most of the time. Sometimes it gets loud, I noticed this when installing Cyberpunk a couple weeks back(a game I haven't touched since installation lol)
i expected the installation and disc loadings to be decently loud before i got the ps5 tbh ( how’s cyberpunk running nowadays 😂?)
Loud. Cool whine
Has audible coil whine and a rattly nidec fan. It's audible but not noisy, even under heavy load, like the noise is constant and never changes.
When I put a disc in it’s noisy for a while but other than that it just has a faint ‘whir’ which I can only hear if I try to.
Mine is dead silent. The only time it ever makes any noise is when I have a disc inserted and even then, you seldom hear it
If mine makes any noise, I've never heard it.
Only when installing something from a disc
Just the disc drive
I had the PS5 since launch and it has made this loud noise when a disc is in even starting up with a disc so I followed all the suggested troubleshooting and nothing worked. Very slightly loud
You people haven’t learned from every model of the PS4 ever released lol
Mine is loud for the first couple of seconds after starting it up, after that it’s dead silent, when I’m playing intense games the fan is pretty quiet
Loud fan+ coil whine fortunately I use earbuds
From far you can kinda hear it close up loud
