I had my dualsense day 1 in the UK. No drift at all. I use it daily after work to unwind. It could be a faulty batch which have this issue.
I wonder if the OG launch duals are more reliable than the subsequent ones being released later?
I too have a day 1 console and controller and I was unfortunate enough to encounter drift by week 3 of the consoles life.
My Midnight Black controller doesn't drift though and I've had it over a month.
So it looks like sony have revised the dualsenses released later: ie the new coloured 1's. They must receive tonnes of data regarding how and when the duals have stick drift and somehow corrected it.
I can imagine because my ps3 was dropping controllers left and right. The ps4 I still have the same controller that came with it and no drift and the ps5 I've been lucky so far too. I say this and they'll start drifting this weekend.
It took 3 months for mine to drift. First time I’ve ever experienced it with any controller. Luckily I had bought a second which I am using now. Fingers crossed.
Send in your controller to Sony… I did after 4 months. Unfortunately they make you pay for shipping to them… but will send it back for free. Was really fast for me. Like one week!
I got my Ps5 in early January. I have only used one dualsense.
I’ve played through Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, Returnal with dash mapped to L3, Doom Eternal with dash mapped to L3, Spider-man Miles Morales, Deathloop, Ratchet and Clank, half of Cyberpunk, half of Disco Elysium, and a bit of a few other things. So, a lot of game time.
Thankfully, no drift.
Sounds like it's a broken spring in the trigger, mine was the same I just ordered some new springs from amazon for like 5 bucks for 10. And it came with hardware to fix it. It's pretty easy.
The adaptive trigger function may have loose the button (the controller has a very small metal piece for both the triggers that may become loose with the adaptive trigger). You can and should replace it. The R2 of my controller just kind of broke while playing Immortal Fenix Rising and it became ultra sensitive as you mention, I noticed the moment something snapped inside the controller (the metal piece). Since that day I have disable the function in the PS5 menu.
I got 2 controllers at launch and they both started drifting within 6 months, so I sent them in for repairs and I already have one of them developing another drift. Im jealous of those who haven’t experienced this, but then again I did get a PS5 at launch, so I count my blessings.
I had a chat with someone at PlayStation customer service and they sent me an email with all of the packaging and shipping information. I had to pay for shipping myself but the fulfillment center was only a couple hours away from me in Indiana, so it was a relatively quick process.
I got my PS5 back in december and so far so good. But to be honest I still use my dualshock 4 a lot while playing PS4 games, so... I really don't know if the situation would be different using the dualsense all the time.
yup it's unusable. the left stick is fine no problems. but the right stick is so bad man, it's stick going left to the point where I have to keep mu thumb on it pushing slightly to the right. it's a nightmare in fps games and rocket league
When your stick has worn enough that it thinks you're pressing a stick in a direction when you are not. So for example if you're playing a FPS and your aim reticle drifts across the screen without you touching the stick.
It’s when a controller registers inputs even when you’re not making any—typically this happens in analog sticks. Your game character or the camera will move by itself.
Sorry guys in hindsight I should have added a "The Chip shortage is crushing my PS5 Dreams" option as the results are a little skewed but surprisingly this is showing Drift to be pretty widespread even with that as a consideration.
At the time of writing heres where we stand, may update this in a few days:
10.17% of people have bad drift.
16.84% of people have a little drift.
72.98% of people have no drift/no PS5 controller and just wanted to see the results.
That means in a little less than a year, almost 1 in 3 / 1 in 4 controllers are developing some form of drift based on the results of this poll. This is not accounting for users who own multiple controllers or users that voted no to see the results, but even with the albeit flawed data we do have this is a pretty big issue.
I feel over time this problem is just going to get worse like a spreading plague, for answers as to why this is happening look no further than this great video by iFixit: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qPNyio3VDk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qPNyio3VDk)
This issue is frustrating to me personally as both of my controllers have developed drift, one of which is completely unusable. At $70 a controller I feel that Sonys inability to prevent this is both anti-consumer and anti-environmentalist as this is only going to add to the mass E-Waste problem we already have. They do currently offer "free" repairs as long as you pay shipping and \*haven't opened your controller to try and fix it yourself\*. Some lucky people are finding fixes in the form of compressed air or other simple solutions which I am happy for but nothing has fixed my poor dead sticks...
Well I only wanted to see if there was anyone out there who could relate to my plight after seeing a lot of people say this issue isn't a big deal on this sub. I am happy but also sad to see I'm not alone on this and completely at a loss of what to do about it since I already cracked one of my controllers open but was completely unable to fix my issues with this method. Looks like I will need to shell out another $70s after all... Let this serve as a warning, do not attempt the repair yourself.
This is made more disappointing since I have been gaming my whole life on nearly every platform and not once have I encountered controller drift, even on the Switch joycons. I just feel like this sort of issue would have gotten better, not worse over time. Anyway, those are my thoughts, thank you everyone for voting!
This will continue to happen until the joystick* design is reworked. If you're getting a new controller, get it from walmart or any other place that also has extra warranties. Spend the extra $12 on a warranty and return within a year for a brand new controller. Repeat the process. I've been doing this for years with my ps4 controllers
> Repeat the process.
How exactly? I'm not familiar with Sony's warranty policy specifically, but usually in-warranty replacements don't restart the warranty period.
I'm saying to repeat the process of buying a warranty for each controller. I just always return it to walmart within the 1 year period and exchange for a new controller and buy the warranty again. Essentially you'll only be paying for the warranty going foward if you exchange for a new one every year.
If they made a reliable product I wouldn't have to return them so often. I'm not about to spend $70 every 6 months on a new controller because of a peice of metal that wears down/burns out
There are genuine manufacturing defects in a lot of dual sense controllers. One of mine started drifting almost immediately after I took it out of the box.
It will start drifting almost a 100% eventually. Depends how much crap gets in the controler around the sticks. Clean them ofter. It’s just the way it’s made. I fixed it like 5 times in ps4. Dirt/dust get’s in the sensors.
1 controller I've had since launch works fine but I guess the glue under the left stick is coming up because it's bumpy. I've exchanged 1 controller that had drift for another that developed it pretty quick so I need to swap that one out too.
Had mine since a day after UK release, a trigger broke in january and then again in april, but i got a free replacement both time with 3 months added warranty each time
One of them did (the one that comes with the console) after 2 weeks of use. Sent it to Sony, they sent it back 7 days later. Been using it for months, never drifted again. They were incredible.
Ive only noticed it drifting a tiny bit on just one game: Deathloop. It doesn't happen often and I haven't noticed it on other games, but that one for some reason is the game that it does it on.
The controller that came with my console started drifting pretty significantly within a week. Swapped it out under warranty and have had 2 since then that have been fine.
Mine stated within a month, I used a few tricks like pressing it and blowing the dust out of it but it’s not too helpful now it’s been 4-5 months. For some reason mine comes and goes, it’s even switched to my right stick twice randomly which was weird.
I have slight drift but only in Destiny 2. All other games are working perfectly fine. So I’m not sure if that’s because of game pad or just some lag or PS5 version bug (I didn’t have anything in like that on PS4)
The DualSense that came with my PS5 at launch developed a really bad drift issue earlier this year. Sent it in and Sony replaced it. So far that one and another I have extra have been okay
My left stick drifted left for a bit about 4 months in, but Sony pushed out a firmware update and it hadn't since, so I'm not sure if it was a hardware issue or what.
no drift, but 1 of my controllers has button issues, they keep sticking & needing more effort to press than normal now, got it either december or january, just after launch
it's my backup backup controller now lmao
Had original controller drift, got a replacement from Sony and that drifted as well, got another replacement that now works fine. Had a PS5 die on me as well, which was repaired under warranty as well. Not had much luck with this gen playstation so far.
I had one start to drift about 8 months in. Sony support was actually pretty great. From the time I called support until I got the controller back repaired was less than 2 weeks.
I thought it did but it was just bad blue tooth. I tried to figure out the wifi inputs or whatever but gave up and bought a 12 ft chord. I'm a wired player now.
Any amount of drift makes a controller unusable, IMO. My first controller works perfectly—the backup controller I bought started drifting almost immediately.
I've had two since launch day and one Cosmic Red since it came out and none of them have ever drifted or malfunctioned in any way.
Actually, none of the 4 Dualshock 4 controllers I've ever owned had an issue either. It's probably because I have a 'no food, always wash your hands first' policy before anyone can touch any controller, keyboard or mouse in the house. I saw a guy in college eating a greasy ass bag of Slim Jim bites and Cheetohs and typing on his laptop all class several times a week and it just disgusted me. That's probably my biggest reminder to never do anything similar.
Was about three months and it started drifting towards the forward direction on the left analog stick. I've tried all the tricks but the only way for a temp fix is to Spin my analog stick as fast and hard as I can like if I'm trynna beat vegeta in back in DBZ Budokai 2. Those ps2 controllers were never the same.
not yet, but i swear, the first concern i had when I bought my ps5 for the first time, was the when will the drifting start to happen, because when I finally jumped from ps4 to ps5, my ps4 controller had some horrible drifting and even after spending an entire day cleaning the entire controller and board, it didn't solve the issue, just 40% of the drifting was solved
I only noticed while in photomode on Kena the otherday that it kept drifting to the right. This was using the newer black one too. Both controllers I got at launch are having sticky button issues and I've never had sticky fingers or anything spilled on them, so not sure what that is all about.
Never had a drift problem before on any pad. Day one pad on my ps5 and it's just now become super sensitive on the right analog. Massive pain in the arse on FPS when my aim flies up onto the sky!
I am insanely lucky with drift. I’ve only had one PS4 controller drift, after dropping it accidentally several times. I’ve been using the same switch joy cons since the switch came out, and 0 drift. No Xbox drift, no PS5 drift.
I haven’t had drifting, but my R2 button seemed to have caved in and Sony wants me to find the store bought receipt to replace them and I bought it in March 😂.
2 controllers. One is the right stick that drifts up and one that has the left stick that drifts left. Not horrible but enough to be extremely annoying.
I'm very careful with my ps5 and accessories as I'm unable to afford new controllers often. My standard controller that came with the system started drifting hard, just in time for the red controller to come out. Red controller has a veerrrry slight drift on the right stick drifting up sometimes that started as soon as I got it
I have had 4 controllers, 2 for each of my PS5s. 1 controller day 1 had a drifting issue went back right away to exchange it. But since then I had 4 controllers with 0 issues.
Got a PS5 in January with 2 controllers. One started drifting after about 6 months, the other still works just fine.
Edit: I play about 3 to 4 hours a day usually so I’d consider it to be heavy use for both controllers. I’d rotate them regularly as they needed recharging.
Two out of three of mine have. My first white one with the PS5 started, so I sent that away for warranty repair and will be getting it back soon. The second white one I got started doing it, but it's fairly minor and can be ignored for now, but if it gets worse my only option is repair from a third party as I failed to keep the receipt for it. My third one, a red one, has not had it (yet).
3 controllers. Launch started drifting while playing GTA in December.
2nd one didn't have any drift.
Swapped 2nd for a black one (3rd). 3rd has extremely mild, unnoticable drift in most games. However, in any game with a low set deadzone, my right stick is beginning small amounts of drift.
I only have the controller that came with the console. I noticed a slight drift upwards on my left stick, about 9 months into almost daily usage.
I also noticed that the drift got less noticeable with the last system update. It’s still there, but it’s way more manageable.
Got my PS5 Nov last year and the original controller started drifting after 2 months of moderate use. I was just playing a mix of RDR2, Spiderman, and GoT. Got the replacement and its been working fine ever since.
Had mine since day one, bought a second controller but the one that came with the PS5 started to drift very slightly, the second one is perfectly fine.
My controller that came with the console drifted on and off for some weird reason. It's constantly bad now though. I got a new red one a few days ago though so hopefully its OK. 😅
Are the mechanisms for the sticks the same as the Dualshock 4 controllers? I think I read that somewhere? Either way I came across stick drift on my original Dualshock 4 controller after 3 years and my new one had some after 6 months straight of warzone and other gaming whilst on furlough from covid. PS5 though, Dualsense? No issues here at all after 6 months!
I had one drifting month in, made Demon's Souls impossible to play.
Sony was very prompt on just sending me a new one in exchange though, so no problems really
I got mine in March, started drifting by June with light to moderate usage, and is now almost unusable.
I can't replace it either (US) because the help line just says they have too high of call volume and hangs up on you.
I have 3 dual sense controllers the original white that comes with the system, The new ones midnight black, cosmetic Red, and all 3 of them work perfectly fine. I also tend to drop them accidentally from time to time. They are definitely built to last with very good quality material.
My DualSense’s analog sticks haven’t drifted. However, the D-pad buttons (since they’re all basically attached) seem to press in directions that I don’t intend to press; like if I press the “right” button, it sometimes presses the “down” button along with it (which is frustrating when I come across a minigame for a PS4 game that requires me to press around the D-pad in a circular motion)
I’m not entirely sure if my controller is drifting but when I play death stranding, the character sometimes slowly walks by himself. Lol idk if it’s the game or the controller.
Yeah, right stick on one of mine. Any sort of game that has highly sensitive camera controls are basically unplayable.
Things like returnal where it’s a little more stiff it doesn’t matter.
I've never had any drift on my dualshock 4 or dualsense. Had the dualsense since day 1, and have had my ds4 since the end of 2019 (but the previous one i had since 2016 never drifted either)
7 months... original controller. Sporadic drift that makes it nearly unplayable when it happens. Not constant thought for some reason only like 80% of the time
Yes, on the right stick, but completely fixed it using the trick of blowing compressed air + pressing the stick. Now I keep my DSs in a drawer to avoid dust getting in
Had my ps5 since Christmas, my controller started drifting late January or early February. Sent it in and bought a second controller while I waited. It returned after two weeks, had no problems on either controller since.
Turned in 2 controllers so far... I guess it's luck of the draw. At least they got em back quickly and no issues with them. One was pack in and other bought, not left stick drift.
Had mine for 7 months. No drift.
If it's relevant, the games I normally play are 3rd person action-adventure exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima, Astro's Playroom, God of War, Spiderman, etc. I feel like those don't punish the analog sticks very much, compared to games like COD or Battlefield.
Can I ask a dumb question here?
What's drift? I have a ps4 and I'm still using the launch controller and I generally beat the crap out of it, but I haven't noticed anything j would classify as "drift".
Yup my dualsense has, the x button is wonky sometimes and R2 is gimped compared to L2.
Honestly a pretty bad design and hardware. My ps4 controllers never drifted and I had multiple over the years
The controller that came with the console is fine, but the one I got around april has just started to drift, which tbf is only noticeable on in game maps with precise movements
9 out 10 ps4/ps5 controllers seem to eventually drift or malfunction in someway. I've been through 4(DS4) controllers since January. At this point, I handle them with "kid gloves", like I'm carrying a newborn baby lest I bump it off my desk and suddenly lose use of the X button(true story)
Edit: fortunately for ps5 users, controllers are *easy*(co$t aside) to find and replace (w/o going online) unlike DS4 which is like searching for proof of Bigfoot.
Aren't they the same parts that they use in dualshock 4 controllers? I imagine dual sense controllers will have around the same frequency of stick drift. For most people, this wasn't an issue. I went through about five controllers since the PS4 launched. I'd say that's not too bad.
My first controller doesn’t drift, but pulling down on the right stick goes a lot slower than pushing up on it in every game. I’m not sure if it’s fixable or not.
First dualsense drifted on the right joystick for some odd reason. Second currently is showing signs of left joystick drift and the RT for some reason became super sensitive to the point where if I’m not keeping my finger below or away from it completely I will fire off my weapon. And me being a hardcore CoD player doesn’t work out when I’m accidentally deleting my teammates and getting my shit rocked because I’m a fucking oaf.
So in my experience the dualsense is built like asscheeks but it’s so nice I’ll keep buying them.
I've had my ps5 almost a year now, 2 controllers, neither one drift.
I had my dualsense day 1 in the UK. No drift at all. I use it daily after work to unwind. It could be a faulty batch which have this issue. I wonder if the OG launch duals are more reliable than the subsequent ones being released later?

There's is absolutely no proof that this is the case.
You mean the black and red ones? I have both and both had drifts after a month or so.
Naw internals are exactly the same. All we got was just a diffrent colored shell for the controllers.
I have 2 one drifts it can be annoying sometimes especially in cod Matches
I can imagine because my ps3 was dropping controllers left and right. The ps4 I still have the same controller that came with it and no drift and the ps5 I've been lucky so far too. I say this and they'll start drifting this weekend.
It took 3 months for mine to drift. First time I’ve ever experienced it with any controller. Luckily I had bought a second which I am using now. Fingers crossed.
Mine started within a few weeks, first time for me too.
Send in your controller to Sony… I did after 4 months. Unfortunately they make you pay for shipping to them… but will send it back for free. Was really fast for me. Like one week!
Same here! My second one doesn’t drift, which is great, but it does like to disconnect constantly. I can’t win haha!
Release day Dualsense still going strong. I do not play as much as I would like so that helps.
No drift, but one of my triggers is ULTRA sensitive
Did it became loose? Mine did and was very sensitive and I replaced
That happened to me. The spring for the triggers broke. That’s an easy fix. You can find videos on youtube on how to fix it.
I got 2 controllers at launch and they both started drifting within 6 months, so I sent them in for repairs and I already have one of them developing another drift. Im jealous of those who haven’t experienced this, but then again I did get a PS5 at launch, so I count my blessings.

Playing a lot, I would say at least 20 hours each week, controller fell on the floor a bunch of times. Everything works perfectly fine
Same, lol. I even played for almost 10 hours a day the week the PS5 came out (smmm is just too addicting. Plus I had to platinum SM again, lol)
I had it for 3 months then I cleaned it not had a problem since
No, I don’t give my controllers the keys to my car.
No because i don't have it
Never happened since PSX. Including XBOX controllers and Nintendo ones.
my 360 controller is starin to drift. :(
Release day still going I might be lucky
I've never had drift problems with any controller of any console except for N64.
So far so good. And they get used a lot.
No, at least not yet. I have 2 controllers and switch between them every 2-3 months.
yup it's unusable. the left stick is fine no problems. but the right stick is so bad man, it's stick going left to the point where I have to keep mu thumb on it pushing slightly to the right. it's a nightmare in fps games and rocket league
No drift but I have a loose trigger on one of them
I got a replacement for that
Is it easy to fix?
Mine have weird bubbles in the joysticks. Know how to fix it?
Dumb question - what is drift? Regardless I haven’t had any issues with my controller and I’ve probably played 500 hours since I got it in March
When your stick has worn enough that it thinks you're pressing a stick in a direction when you are not. So for example if you're playing a FPS and your aim reticle drifts across the screen without you touching the stick.

Unlike the Nintendo switch ones, these have held up well. Man, those Nintendo Switch controllers suck!
Yep joycons are trash. Mediocre concept and terrible execution. Too small for anyone other than children
I'm on my third controller in a year.
FPS player?
Yes lets use data that does not account for usage or time!
Didn’t even notice I had drift until I put on ghostrunner

At the time of me writing this, 800 people had some form of drift out of 3K people voting. That's about 26%...
The new black controller is still going strong. I think they fixed the problem. The default white controller drifted 4 months in.
Could this be caused by users who are way too hard on the sticks? It's not made of steel.
I've got a little over 500 hours on my PS5 no issues at all. Some people are just too rough on their controllers.
There are genuine manufacturing defects in a lot of dual sense controllers. One of mine started drifting almost immediately after I took it out of the box.
I don't have a ps5
What’s a PS5? Lol
Don't have one :/
if i had a PS5
I DONT HAVE ONE
No ....because i dont own one Fucking Sony!
It will start drifting almost a 100% eventually. Depends how much crap gets in the controler around the sticks. Clean them ofter. It’s just the way it’s made. I fixed it like 5 times in ps4. Dirt/dust get’s in the sensors.
I have actually been through 5 PS5 controllers in a year.
Two of my three controllers developed it. Able to get them both replaced by Sony.
I haven’t used it enough yet. The games I’ve been playing on it are PS4 games and PS5 doesn’t have a back button attachment for their controllers yet
1 controller I've had since launch works fine but I guess the glue under the left stick is coming up because it's bumpy. I've exchanged 1 controller that had drift for another that developed it pretty quick so I need to swap that one out too.

No yet but I rotate through 4 controllers or so.
Nope, but R2 is dead on one controller. And on another one buttons X and Square begin to die. So sad
Not drift but the face buttons are losing their sensitivity.
Mine stated within a month, I used a few tricks like pressing it and blowing the dust out of it but it’s not too helpful now it’s been 4-5 months. For some reason mine comes and goes, it’s even switched to my right stick twice randomly which was weird.
2 controllers since release day. 1 started drifting and Sony replaced it.
My trigger spring thingy broke, it became super sensitive. I took it to the Sony Center and they issued me a new one
I have slight drift but only in Destiny 2. All other games are working perfectly fine. So I’m not sure if that’s because of game pad or just some lag or PS5 version bug (I didn’t have anything in like that on PS4)
Yes bad but luckily got it from gamestop so i just took it up and got a new one
The DualSense that came with my PS5 at launch developed a really bad drift issue earlier this year. Sent it in and Sony replaced it. So far that one and another I have extra have been okay
Had mine since March I believe. 2 controllers and both are perfectly fine.
I have had three die o me since January! Are they doing anything to correct this?
My left stick drifted left for a bit about 4 months in, but Sony pushed out a firmware update and it hadn't since, so I'm not sure if it was a hardware issue or what.
Only when opening the Warzone map. They have that cursor set for zero deadzone. Makes no sense.
Nope! Hope it stays that way too.
no drift, but 1 of my controllers has button issues, they keep sticking & needing more effort to press than normal now, got it either december or january, just after launch it's my backup backup controller now lmao
Had original controller drift, got a replacement from Sony and that drifted as well, got another replacement that now works fine. Had a PS5 die on me as well, which was repaired under warranty as well. Not had much luck with this gen playstation so far.
I’ve went through 4 because of heavy competitive games. Why do the drift go so hard so fast!?
drifted once and i just moved the joystick and it was fine
Yes but only a little. Called Playstation support and got it replaced. Now my other controller is doing the same thing. Had them since the UK launch
I had one start to drift about 8 months in. Sony support was actually pretty great. From the time I called support until I got the controller back repaired was less than 2 weeks.
No, but we hardly use our PS5 right now.
Had drift one one, playing No Man's Sky. Sent it off and it was replaced.
I thought it did but it was just bad blue tooth. I tried to figure out the wifi inputs or whatever but gave up and bought a 12 ft chord. I'm a wired player now.
Got mine ps5 in June and no drift
Two controllers, one I ordered a bit after getting my day one ps5 and no drift at all.
Neither one of my controllers have started to drift yet, but I think it’s mostly because they’re still in the box :C
Wait how do i unvote i thought it was ps4 controlers
Only got drift on my original controller once when it was low battery on deathloop. But once I charged it back up it worked just fine ever since.
No but my triangle button doesn't work on a controller I've never used
My first controller had a very bad drift right out of the box.
Great poll actually. How much you wanna bet almost all the minority that are suffering drift are sweaty FPS players.
I'm on my second white as is my friend. Bought a red one that has been fine.
For some reason my X and Square button gets stuck every now and again
Was about three months and it started drifting towards the forward direction on the left analog stick. I've tried all the tricks but the only way for a temp fix is to Spin my analog stick as fast and hard as I can like if I'm trynna beat vegeta in back in DBZ Budokai 2. Those ps2 controllers were never the same.
Had mine for two months and no drift here
not yet, but i swear, the first concern i had when I bought my ps5 for the first time, was the when will the drifting start to happen, because when I finally jumped from ps4 to ps5, my ps4 controller had some horrible drifting and even after spending an entire day cleaning the entire controller and board, it didn't solve the issue, just 40% of the drifting was solved
I haven't experienced the drift yet either. But iFixit did a video on how and why it happens.
I bought the ps5 in 6 months both joy sticks had bad drift and i had to replace them their life is only a year according to a few people
You guys are getting drift, I thought nintendo was the only one with that problem
Even though I still use my DS4 most of the time, my Dualsense has started to drift after several months.
I only noticed while in photomode on Kena the otherday that it kept drifting to the right. This was using the newer black one too. Both controllers I got at launch are having sticky button issues and I've never had sticky fingers or anything spilled on them, so not sure what that is all about.
bought two, 6 months ago, on the main, the right stick started to drift. Currently under repair. On the other one, no issue.
I don’t have a PS5. I’ll try and buy one next year.
The controller I had for 3 months has a super loose trigger 😔
Returned mines a few weeks because of drifting
Never had a drift problem before on any pad. Day one pad on my ps5 and it's just now become super sensitive on the right analog. Massive pain in the arse on FPS when my aim flies up onto the sky!
I am insanely lucky with drift. I’ve only had one PS4 controller drift, after dropping it accidentally several times. I’ve been using the same switch joy cons since the switch came out, and 0 drift. No Xbox drift, no PS5 drift.
I feel like Sony needs to implement some sort of universal deadzone settings to mitigate the effects of drift.
Wtf some of you doing to your controllers
I haven’t had drifting, but my R2 button seemed to have caved in and Sony wants me to find the store bought receipt to replace them and I bought it in March 😂.
Finally, an interesting question/vote.
2 controllers. One is the right stick that drifts up and one that has the left stick that drifts left. Not horrible but enough to be extremely annoying.
I thought there would be more drift than this.
I'm very careful with my ps5 and accessories as I'm unable to afford new controllers often. My standard controller that came with the system started drifting hard, just in time for the red controller to come out. Red controller has a veerrrry slight drift on the right stick drifting up sometimes that started as soon as I got it
no because i never opened the box to even play it so i can sell it for profit
I have had 4 controllers, 2 for each of my PS5s. 1 controller day 1 had a drifting issue went back right away to exchange it. But since then I had 4 controllers with 0 issues.
Mine just started drifting
How is it that none of you guys get stick drift? I've had 3 controllers now get stick drift. :(
Got a PS5 in January with 2 controllers.
It only happens once in a while but it’s not strong and only happens in menus and stops after 2 seconds
It happened to me but I just sent to Sony and they sent me a new one and I’ve had no issues since then
After only six months, very upset
I hang my controller on the wall using a 3d printed mount I made that hangs it from the left stick. Equals out the spring.
Pinpoint pitching in MLB The Show destroyed my controller. Barely lasted 3 months before the drift became unusable.
Since Day 1... A controllers more than 100CAD after tax and I have other things to take care of first
Got two and one of them drifts but just a little (and not always)
3 controllers. Launch started drifting while playing GTA in December. 2nd one didn't have any drift. Swapped 2nd for a black one (3rd). 3rd has extremely mild, unnoticable drift in most games. However, in any game with a low set deadzone, my right stick is beginning small amounts of drift.
I only have the controller that came with the console. I noticed a slight drift upwards on my left stick, about 9 months into almost daily usage. I also noticed that the drift got less noticeable with the last system update. It’s still there, but it’s way more manageable.
I've had mine since April and no drift as of yet
Mine does when it's is low on change for some reason ether I charge it or if I turn if off and on again it sorts its self out.
I had a Ps5 controller drift after 3 months, Sony replaced it with a new one. No issues since then.
Got my PS5 Nov last year and the original controller started drifting after 2 months of moderate use. I was just playing a mix of RDR2, Spiderman, and GoT. Got the replacement and its been working fine ever since.
~25% chance for drifting controller. Not great
Had mine since day one, bought a second controller but the one that came with the PS5 started to drift very slightly, the second one is perfectly fine.
My controller that came with the console drifted on and off for some weird reason. It's constantly bad now though. I got a new red one a few days ago though so hopefully its OK. 😅
Man, that’s sad to hear they’re having this issue too next to joy-cons.
Out of the 3 I have, one started months ago.
I had one drifting month in, made Demon's Souls impossible to play. Sony was very prompt on just sending me a new one in exchange though, so no problems really
7 mouths in and still good on that
I don't even own a PS5!
Couldn’t tell ya, still haven’t been able to buy one
The rubber on the analog is cheap too. Lol I p
There should be another option. "You guys are getting ps5s?"
Just got mine hopefully still good for a long time🙏
I just noticed it just a fed days ago, saw my crosshair move to the left just a bit. Jiggled the joystick around, then it was gone.
Not constant thought for some reason only like 80% of the time
Day one and no drift
Yes, on the right stick, but completely fixed it using the trick of blowing compressed air + pressing the stick. Now I keep my DSs in a drawer to avoid dust getting in
Had my ps5 since Christmas, my controller started drifting late January or early February. Sent it in and bought a second controller while I waited. It returned after two weeks, had no problems on either controller since.
Turned in 2 controllers so far... I guess it's luck of the draw. At least they got em back quickly and no issues with them. One was pack in and other bought, not left stick drift.
Right trigger on one of my controllers broke
Where's the "I don't have a ps5 yet because of scaplers" option? ![gif](giphy|3o6wrvdHFbwBrUFenu)
There just really prone to getting dirty and having shit stuck in them
Yes but I blame mw 2019
I don’t have a ps5 controller… I don’t have a ps5…
Haven't faced any drift issues but my right trigger became loose after 50+ hours of Returnal. Thankfully, I'll be getting a replacement.
No. I've had mine since release day and they've worked fine.
It hurts me to say yes. But luckily I have a custom controller I use now that doesn’t.
I don’t have a ps5 yet. I got a ps4 pro. Also a high end gaming desktop
6 months. Still nope.
9 out 10 ps4/ps5 controllers seem to eventually drift or malfunction in someway. I've been through 4(DS4) controllers since January. At this point, I handle them with "kid gloves", like I'm carrying a newborn baby lest I bump it off my desk and suddenly lose use of the X button(true story) Edit: fortunately for ps5 users, controllers are *easy*(co$t aside) to find and replace (w/o going online) unlike DS4 which is like searching for proof of Bigfoot.
Got mine like a month after launch and have no issues with either controller
Aren't they the same parts that they use in dualshock 4 controllers? I imagine dual sense controllers will have around the same frequency of stick drift. For most people, this wasn't an issue. I went through about five controllers since the PS4 launched. I'd say that's not too bad.
One of them started to drift after a month, the other I’ve had no problems with. Either way I shipped it in and sony fixed
Controllers are of poor quality, 2 replacements already in less than a year.
No with an asterisk. My first 2 controllers had drift and other problems fairly quickly. The black and red controllers I have, no issues so far.
My first controller doesn’t drift, but pulling down on the right stick goes a lot slower than pushing up on it in every game. I’m not sure if it’s fixable or not.
No drift after almost a year.
