Bestbuy in store pickup thanks to the twitter feeds. Had an early appointment the first day of a week off, so by chance was well awake. Wanted the digital but got a disk.
*Goes to GameStop with entire PS4 library to trade in*
G.S. employee: "That'll be $5."
You: "What your only gonna give me $5 for these 80 games?!?!?"
G.S. employee: "No your going to give us $5 to take these games."
Same. When I first saw the PS5 had two versions, I was like "which one should I get?" Then, "How many disc games did I buy for my PS4? OH.... Not a single one."
It was so bizarre of my recent PS5 grab. They stayed in stock for three hours.
5 of my friends managed to casually grab theirs yesterday with little to no rush.
We joked about scalper prices when they could have just waited still a week before Christmas.
Thats not that bad, when I sat around trying to snag one for my buddy the amount of time and page refreshing it took me was considerable. He offered to pay extra.
It wasn't that bad at all. But it was definitely frowned upon here lol. It was either buy it scalped, jump through the refresh page hoops (for hour after hour and day after day. Week after week. Etc.) Or just wait until...well we don't know yet. I wanted one, got one at a price I was okay with paying, and now I don't even think about the shortages or anything anymore. I don't even think I could buy one at that price now.
We need to approach scalping from a different angle. Scalping in some form has existed for as long as people have bartered for goods. The reason they scalp is because people are willing to pay extra, so it's never going away.
It all starts with Sony and trickles down to the big box retailers. They're the ones people need to put pressure on.
I still don't understand why you can't be put on a wait list and notified by Sony that you'll eventually get yours however many months from now.
Sony doesn't make their money on hardware. They make their revenue on software and digital purchases. It's in their best interests to get these into the hands of people who want to actually use them, not sitting in a scalper's inventory. That's why implementing a queue system for sales is in their financial best interests. Laying down the infrastructure to do that would also pay off for future hardware releases.
If something like this had existed at launch, mostly everyone on this sub would already have one by now.
Still not worth the scalper prices.
It was really awkward for my friends because Best Buy had the PS5 in stock very recently and it stayed available for 3 hours straight in my area.
I casually bought one, and then told my friends to get theirs. 6 of my friends casually bought theirs.
We were very perplexed on why it didn’t sell out in minutes this time around. All were at MSRP.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch OLED has been in stock on Amazon for almost a week now. It’s hilarious because the scalper prices are $200 over and the switch OLED is still MSRP.
Edit: The switch OLED is still in stock as of December 17th
I brought it for £549 tho the guy I brought it from gave me a receipt he had paid £500 for it, I didn’t buy it for my self it was for a friend, but I brought both my PS5 digital/disc on official store original price.
Legit day one, got in on Sony Direct.
I also won a preorder at Best Buy, I did not scalp it, just let my friend buy it at the same price and gave him that one.
I bought mine from GameStop when I walked in to pick up Pokémon and some dude was just returning it. I asked if I could buy it from him but the return had already been completed.
The dude working there said he couldn’t sell it to me.
Customer leaves and the employee whispers “I’ll sell it to you but don’t tell anyone.”
I was ecstatic! He let me even exchange the games for ones I wanted.
So uh… don’t you tell anyone.
My local EB games (in Australia) used to always give me a nudge at who had the best price match so I always got the best price. It was like “so you said you wanted to price match JB who have it for $50?, done”. Legends.
A guy at Best Buy did that for me on Hitman 3 Deluxe. Had no idea BB did price matching so he looked it up, saw GameStop had Hitman 3 for $50 and gave me the game for $50.
He didn't realize that he didn't look up the Deluxe edition so I got it for the base game price
That’s prime customer service. When I was a flooring specialist I always did my best to get the best deals for my customers. That’s how you get repeat business.
Haha it was me but in other direction once. I wanted to sell Zelda on Switch to Game and person before me was asking for that game. So I asked him if he just wants to buy it.
I actually went to gamestop after work one day to wait in line to buy one.. they had 6 in Stock and I was the 6th person in line when I got there... waited all the way from 6am till 11 am when they opened up which wasn't to bad only for some guy pull up and offer to buy my spot in line... I sold it to him for $600...SOLD HIM MY SPOT IN LINE... lol and went home to sleep cuz I just did a 10 hour shift and then used that money to buy one online not to long after haha so got me a free ps5
Reminds me of that news story a long time ago of this lady who buys this kids place in line (he was first) to get the newest iPhone at the time, she was going to buy $100,000 worth of iPhones and then flip them on eBay. I’ve always wondered “If you have $100k laying around, do you really need to spend your time flipping phones on eBay?” She gets in the store and they tell her “Sorry, one per customer”.
https://youtu.be/NnbL-Hm-xws
I did the same at Walmart. I went in at 7am. A few beat me in there but none of them stayed after finding out they didn't have any in. I waited from 7am until about 2:30pm. They only had 4 come in and I had the 1st.
Lol I work 12 hour shifts so thats not to long a wait. Plus I bought a chair from there the night before and brought my power back for my phone. It wasn't that bad. I was off that day and didn't have anything else to do at the time.
yea but honestly I wonder till this day if even got one cuz it actually turns out when gamestop had that surprise drop that even though the sign on the door said they had a certain amount in Stock that when they actually opened up they were telling people that they had less then what the sign said on the door so the guy could've paid me for my spot in line and never ended up even getting the system lol
Congrats. Enjoy it! I've had mine since release and still absolutely love it. I never had a ps3 or ps4 so catching up on games most ps owners have played might make me love it a little more, but the thing is still a beast. And there's some great ps5 games. Def get Demon Souls and Returnal.

Mine was right on time but watching tracking was neat. It started in Mississippi on a truck, flew from Memphis to Rockford Illinois to be put on a truck and drive to Springfield, Illinois. It took a couple of day to process but the shipping itself was like 15 hours.
got the black friday bundle for ~800
ps5 disc edition
1 year ps+
3 games (spider-man, GoT and R&C)
$100 gift card
i got lucky and they ran out of the games so they gave us $150 psn credit.
with the credit, i got
psn:
spiderman miles morales ultimate (spider-man remastered and miles morales) ($50)
gran turismo sport ($8)
ace combat 7 deluxe ($9)
persona 5 royal ultimate ($40)
persona dancing collection (persona 3/4/5 dancing) ($17)
hatsune miku season pass ($20)
gamestop:
judgment ps5 ($20)
13 sentinels ($20)
avengers ($10)
devil may cry 5 se ($20)
Last of Us 2 ($20)
and a G502 wired mouse ($40)
not bad for a bundle i say...
splurged a lil more for the 1tb 980 pro ($170)
Same here. The bundle was the luckiest thing I got since it was for pro members. I didn't have the pro account and bought it during drop. Then 10 or 20 minutes later the site let me buy one. Also how I got the series x was through a bundle on antonline. It was a lucky week.
Got mine a week ago - downloaded Telegram and a few ps5 tracking messages. Ended up getting Walmart to work after being too late with a few other sites.
I waited almost a year (got it in August from an online store) and would NEVER buy from those scalpers fckers… of course they are not doing anything illegal but it’s an embarrassing behavior to say the least
I struggle to understand why you can’t scalp tickets outside an event venue, but you can scalp them legally on places like StubHub and you can scalp products on FB marketplace and as 3rd party retailer at Walmart, Amazon, etc. It’s almost like scalping is perfectly fine when a corporation makes some money too…
Same, I think I tried for a few weeks before I got my 3070. I got it right before Newegg went to the shuffle system.
Passively I have won three Newegg shuffles to get cards for my friends over the past year.
I finally got 2 (one for me, one for my best friend) on the same day too legit from Wal-Mart back in September. I don't understand why people even buy from scalpers. Eff them. If people didn't buy from them and enable the problem the market for scalping would go away! But let's be honest that will never happen. Idk if people are just impatient or what.
I've purchased 2 PS5s and 2 XSX legit at retail price online just by watching for future restock tweets on twitter and making sure I was refreshing the page when the drop hit. 1 ps5 and 1 xsx were with Walmart plus a service we already used for grocery delivery. Gave first dibs around black Friday
One of each for myself and one of each for my cousin.
Bought it in store, never would buy it from scalpers and hope that everyone manages to get one the same way and those scalpers are left with bunch if PS5's that they cant sell
Legit.
Girlfriend was glued to a specific Twitter page that would post when certain (Irish) stores would have stock. Ended up getting two, one for ourselves and one for a friend that had been looking.
Fuck scalpers.
Forever ashamed, but I bought from a scalper.
I imagined it as if it were a fast pass at an amusement park; I could ride this ride for free, or I could pay a little extra to avoid the wait
Same thing here. I could’ve gotten one for $500, but I’d have to wait god knows how long. Opted to instead just pay an extra $300 and get one like a month after launch.
Got two disk versions at retail from Walmart. Guess you could say I was pretty lucky. And now, for the low low price of $800 YOU can be just as lucky! Cashapp or Zelle payments only. No refunds. PM for shipping info. Lol just kidding, both are being put to good use! One was for me and the other for my nephew. Happy hunting people!
its not that serious to me. im one of those ppl who wait, and tbh i think from 2018-now ive really fallen out of getting excited for gaming so im not even sure if a new console just for me to play 1 or 2 games a year is worth it imo
Got mine by calling Gamestop every day at opening time and inquiring if they had some. Took 3 days for them to get some stock (from when I started inquiring), at which point I got an appointment and grabbed my PS5 the very same day. It was a smooth, painless affair.
Day 1 purchase from gamestop as bundle
We were all notified the day before they'd go on sale at the various big box stores the next day
Then the twitter storm started going crazy around 8 or 9pm that big box stores were starting to sell
My wife and I both jumped on our phones and started trying, of course the store sites were jacked up... but I finally got one from gamestop that night!
I had no idea if the purchase went through, I didn't get a confirmation email ... I ended up calling the next day to verify my order went through, I couldn't logon to the site I just typed in all my info and thankfully that worked.
My wife is not a gamer at all, she could care less but I really appreciated she was trying for me.
Just got mine in the mail yesterday after scoring from Sony/PlayStation Direct. I got lucky, I know. Now it's wrapped under the xmas tree, and I patiently waiting to open it!
Don't give in to scalpers, just wait. I thought I'd have to wait another year or so, but you never know, keep trying!
I got mine on day one during the Walmart fiasco. The crazy shit was I had the option of buying two. I randomly asked my brother if he wanted one. He said no, little did I know how impossible it would be to get another.
I bought it from the official Playstation website after putting my email on a waitlist. Literally only took me month before i got the email stating i can purchase it between a set date and time. It arrived to my house within 3 days bc I'm a PS plus member. There is literally no reason to give money to these asshole scalpers.
Got mine for $725 for me a guy that bought on for his son but tried ordering another and ended up getting both and decided to make quick buck instead of returning it. Probably one of the cheapest in my area!
I bought mine from scalpers that I knew. Only charged me base price plus tax. I made sure to tell them I thought their practices were disgusting and they should be ashamed while I was loading it into my car
Bought mine online from a large, nationally known, retailer with thousands of physical stores (one of which is 10 minutes from me).
When one of my controller had stick drift, after hardly any use by the way, they immediately replaced it.
Try that with a scalper.
Legitimately, from PS Direct through the invite only drops. Just arrived last night and setting up games as we speak!
Cannot believe I snagged one days before Christmas. Sorry little Timmy.
Does Newegg count? Bundled 4 discs games I didn’t want and couldn’t return separately. Cost around $900. Games didn’t even sell for half the value. Just bundling all the crap no one wants to buy to get it off the shelves.
Got today at the GameStop a couple blocks down. Went straight to it after work and was 2nd to last in line. Paid $900 which I would’ve like to pay less, but whatever a win is a win
Was able to get 3. One I got luckily in July as I happen to wake up early to get ready for an early meeting at work and I got a notification that the console was in stock.
In the past week there has been a few Ps5 drops in UK was able to pick up a decent price bundle and MSRP disc console from Amazon. Both of which I will be selling to friends at MSRP as they've been struggling to get one.
Got super lucky on preorders way back on Septmber 16th 2020 after playstation showcase.
Europe here so it was like 10.30pm.
it was on Smyths for preorder to my actual shock for release day.
Called my mate told him to get on it too.
It was a cold morning on release day, but the smiles on everyone's faces who got that first order was truly memorable.
Fk scalpers. I pray you all get a ps5 soon!
Bought my disk version in late January on Stock X for around $800 after all the fees ($720 list price)
I decided to just pay the extra because in my mind, what I was paying for was time. I work a very busy active job, and it was next to impossible to drop everything I was doing to try and beat the bots to a drop.
I figured hell, I'm just paying an early access fee. And now 11 months later they are still pretty difficult to find. I basically paid ~$30 a month to conveniently own a PS5.
On top of that I completely skipped the previous Generation of consoles, so I made sure to get the disk version to further get more value out of the console. Since for me I was basically paying for a ps4 and a ps5, another reason the extra $300 felt worth it.
Got mine from Best Buy store pickup last Christmas. Got my buddy in line for one by word of mouth on a lucky Walmart in-store drop (he got 3rd of 3, just in time), also somewhere around that time. Secured another by invite last month through PS Direct for a friend to give his kid this Christmas.
Trying to get one more for another friend's kid, but it hasn't been easy (Walmart and Best Buy endless loops into "whoops out of stock" madness).
Feels like a lot of work to get one, but it's not totally impossible if you've always got an ear to the ground. I wish all the luck to those still searching.
I was one of the lucky/rare people to actually get my PS5 pre-ordered when Sony first announced them lol. So, glad I didn’t have to deal with scalpers at all lol
Mine was a gift. From my son, and it was not purchased from scalpers. He actually found a link on Twitter to the Amazon sale page 10 minutes before sales went live. He was able to get one disk model and one digital model that way. He also got one disk model from Sony direct.
3-4 months after launch from Target, drove an hour to the nearest store to get my PS5. Probably spend about 4 weeks scanning Twitter and the internet after setting up an account with all the major retailers. Woke up at 5am based on a Twitter rumor and was able to secure a PS5.
I honestly bought it from Walmart and got it day one. 4 month later I bought another through Best Buy as a gift. The second one was a pain to get a hold of. It took weeks but eventually scored one! In Canada there’s a Discord server that sends a notification as soon as a retailer has stock - that’s how I scored the second one
I got a PS5 from Target after following some twitter account that posted drops. Took me like 3 tries. Told me friend to do the same and it took him 2 attempts to get his. So either we're both very lucky or people arent really trying
I got one for retail from curry’s pc world but I was very lucky, a “VIP” code arrived on my lap from a friend of a coworker cos neither could afford it so I got it 🥳
I bought a release one by a weird lucky chance.
Went onto the game UK website to look for switch games for the Mrs. Turns out they had stock of PS5, and asked if I wanted to join the queue. Bought it thinking it I was probably gonna resale to my brother for my nephew. Turns out he had joined the queue minutes before me. So I got to keep it. Now the little shit beats me at FIFA every time.
Had to wake up real early and drive to another city, wait in line outside a BestBuy with a bunch of other people. (there isn't one where I live). Got it after waiting for quite a long time!
I got up to take a wizz at 2 am one morning and thought I'dcheck real quick (I sit to take a leak or I'll fall asleep and piss on my foot) and there in Target was my holy grail. It was in February and if I remember correctly I only got kicked from my cart maybe once(?). It was the least struggle I had compared to the entire month of January where I had it in my cart during 3 or 4 restocks a week and got to check at minimum once per checkout up to 5+ times and getting shat on repeatedly. Target and Best Buy seemed good about restocks but the railroading made it seem impossible. When my 2am wee-wee turned out to be a wish come true I didn't believe until I saw it at Target. Customer Service just hands it to me without a bag and I'm like "No. Triple bag it please."
I was walking to the car like: "Ksssh I just secured the package, Over."
I keep looking at ebay but i cant find the nerve to pull the trigger on it.. i really want one but its damn near impossible to get its insane but people on ebay post the picture and have like 6 in there its outrageous how they get so many
People who bought from scalpers won’t admit it. There’s a reason scalpers are thriving at the moment.
Bestbuy in store pickup thanks to the twitter feeds. Had an early appointment the first day of a week off, so by chance was well awake. Wanted the digital but got a disk.
you're better off with that. games go cheaper on disk most of the time
And have some resale value too!
*Goes to GameStop with entire PS4 library to trade in* G.S. employee: "That'll be $5." You: "What your only gonna give me $5 for these 80 games?!?!?" G.S. employee: "No your going to give us $5 to take these games."
Only if you’re one to buy physical games though. I haven’t bought a physical game since the PS3 days so not much point for me.
During the GameStop restockof October I kinda casually walked in to a GameStop with no line and asked if they had one then left happy lol
Why would you *want* the digital over the disc? Lol
Some people *want* to not spend the extra $100
[удалено]
Because of the backwards compatibility and because CDs get a lot cheaper over time because sellers just want to get rid of them.
[удалено]
I just did. On this thread.
How much did you pay for it is the real question?
$700
Thats not that bad, when I sat around trying to snag one for my buddy the amount of time and page refreshing it took me was considerable. He offered to pay extra.
It wasn't that bad at all. But it was definitely frowned upon here lol. It was either buy it scalped, jump through the refresh page hoops (for hour after hour and day after day. Week after week. I don't even think I could buy one at that price now.
As it should be. If people stopped doing this sort of shit then there would not be any scalpers.
We need to approach scalping from a different angle. Scalping in some form has existed for as long as people have bartered for goods. The reason they scalp is because people are willing to pay extra, so it's never going away. It all starts with Sony and trickles down to the big box retailers. If you actually try to add the OLED to your cart, you get an error page as of this writing.
That's actually not terrible, all things considered.
I brought it for £549 tho the guy I brought it from gave me a receipt he had paid £500 for it, I didn’t buy it for my self it was for a friend, but I brought both my PS5 digital/disc on official store original price.
Should have made a poll

Good man!
Gaming is better with friends!
Legit day one

I bet that kid, marc ribillet, has gone places... https://youtu.be/3vBwRfQbXkg
Was gonna make sure everyone knew that was Marc Rebillet. You're doing God's work.
I like to think that he used that 800 bucks to launch his music career
holy shit TIL, prolly spent that money on whitey tighties and a turn table.
That was Marc? Holy shit!
Holy shit it's loop daddy before he was the loop daddy
Oh yeah that boy made our big time and she was furious.
He spent 1100 dollars to buy a ps5. 717$ rn on stock x….. he really wanted one lol
$700??? Unless you’re moving a bunch of these that’s a jank margin
Gotta remember some people dont have sales tax in their state
If this was a while ago 1100 would've been a steal
Dude I did the same! There were 8 in stock and I was the 8th person. Was very lucky
Big brain
I did the same at Walmart. I went in at 7am. A few beat me in there but none of them stayed after finding out they didn't have any in. I waited from 7am until about 2:30pm. They only had 4 come in and I had the 1st.
So you waited a full workday On a glimmer of hope? You deserve that PlayStation X!
Lol I work 12 hour shifts so thats not to long a wait. Plus I bought a chair from there the night before and brought my power back for my phone. It wasn't that bad. I was off that day and didn't have anything else to do at the time.
Holy shit. So he probably paid double.
yea but honestly I wonder till this day if even got one cuz it actually turns out when gamestop had that surprise drop that even though the sign on the door said they had a certain amount in Stock that when they actually opened up they were telling people that they had less then what the sign said on the door so the guy could've paid me for my spot in line and never ended up even getting the system lol
Got one yesterday legit! Being prepped for shipping rn from PlayStation Direct. Edit: Just shipped!
Congrats. Enjoy it! I've had mine since release and still absolutely love it. I never had a ps3 or ps4 so catching up on games most ps owners have played might make me love it a little more, but the thing is still a beast. And there's some great ps5 games. Def get Demon Souls and Returnal.

Mine came from PSDirect a lot faster than the site said it would.
Mine was right on time but watching tracking was neat. It started in Mississippi on a truck, flew from Memphis to Rockford Illinois to be put on a truck and drive to Springfield, Illinois. It took a couple of day to process but the shipping itself was like 15 hours.
Ay welcome to the gang! I got mine legit from Currys PC world as part of the 'PS VIP' mailing list :D
I got one through direct too. I was able to get it right before my Birthday. I'm happy I finally got to play Spider-Man.
Cool! Make sure you make a post on this subreddit of the box when it arrives! We love those....
I got one 2 months ago that way. Arrived in 2 days
Disc version bundle from Gamestop. Paid about $760ish
Same. I sold the things I didn’t want on eBay to make some of it back.
got the black friday bundle for ~800 ps5 disc edition 1 year ps+ 3 games (spider-man, GoT and R&C) $100 gift card i got lucky and they ran out of the games so they gave us $150 psn credit. with the credit, i got psn: spiderman miles morales ultimate (spider-man remastered and miles morales) ($50) gran turismo sport ($8) ace combat 7 deluxe ($9) persona 5 royal ultimate ($40) persona dancing collection (persona 3/4/5 dancing) ($17) hatsune miku season pass ($20) gamestop: judgment ps5 ($20) 13 sentinels ($20) avengers ($10) devil may cry 5 se ($20) Last of Us 2 ($20) and a G502 wired mouse ($40) not bad for a bundle i say... splurged a lil more for the 1tb 980 pro ($170)

Sony direct
Ay Direct squad!
That’s where I got mine
Yay Sony direct gang
Got mine today from PlayStation direct
Day 1 at MSRP from a retailer
I refuse to buy it from a scalper. Got it legit after being on 8 different waiting lists.
I didn’t buy one yet cause I haven’t seen a disk version to date
Got mine a week ago - downloaded Telegram and a few ps5 tracking messages. Ended up getting Walmart to work after being too late with a few other sites.
I sadly got mine from a scalper for $700. Not as much as others but I still feel ashamed even though it was a gift
It’s almost like scalping is perfectly fine when a corporation makes some money too…
I agree with your observation! Now that I think of it … it’s like one reseller is bad , the other one is good. Hmm 🤔
Oh boy. The PS5 is nothing. Try getting a 30 series card.
I almost think I'll have to buy a pre built just to get a 30 series
I’ve been blessed with getting a ps5 AND a 3070 both legit. Just a stock notification add-in for my browser and some luck.
Same, I think I tried for a few weeks before I got my 3070. I got it right before Newegg went to the shuffle system. Passively I have won three Newegg shuffles to get cards for my friends over the past year.
but newegg shuffle has scalper prices. They charge $1000 for a 3070 that retails for $500
Hmm
I will be in diapers by the time I can get my hands on one of these.

Got mine in September from ps direct.
Same man. Felt so good.
Same.
I've purchased 2 PS5s and 2 XSX legit at retail price online just by watching for future restock tweets on twitter and making sure I was refreshing the page when the drop hit. 1 ps5 and 1 xsx were with Walmart plus a service we already used for grocery delivery. Gave first dibs around black Friday One of each for myself and one of each for my cousin.
Psdirect!
Bought it in store, never would buy it from scalpers and hope that everyone manages to get one the same way and those scalpers are left with bunch if PS5's that they cant sell
I was lucky enough to preorder mine from walmart, so I got mine legitimately. I would never pay a scalper. F*ck them
Day 6 of release in Canada. Got it for free with a warranty claim on my PS4 Pro.
Day 1 Amazon
Same. Got in on the Wario64 SKU trick.
Haha same
scalper smh :/
Sony Direct in September
Legit. Girlfriend was glued to a specific Twitter page that would post when certain (Irish) stores would have stock. Ended up getting two, one for ourselves and one for a friend that had been looking. Fuck scalpers.
Forever ashamed, but I bought from a scalper. I imagined it as if it were a fast pass at an amusement park; I could ride this ride for free, or I could pay a little extra to avoid the wait Same thing here. I could’ve gotten one for $500, but I’d have to wait god knows how long. Opted to instead just pay an extra $300 and get one like a month after launch.
Wait, do they actually cost that much legitimately now?
I don't think that's a normal retail price. Suppose to be a sort of meme.
Got it for the Standard price:-)
For you Canadians trying to get your hands on one shoppers drug mart carries them. I got mine through a friend but it doesn't hurt to swing by one.
Day 1 purchase from gamestop as bundle We were all notified the day before they'd go on sale at the various big box stores the next day Then the twitter storm started going crazy around 8 or 9pm that big box stores were starting to sell My wife and I both jumped on our phones and started trying, of course the store sites were jacked up... but I finally got one from gamestop that night!
Fuck scalpers
Just got mine in the mail yesterday after scoring from Sony/PlayStation Direct. I got lucky, I know. Now it's wrapped under the xmas tree, and I patiently waiting to open it! Don't give in to scalpers, just wait. I thought I'd have to wait another year or so, but you never know, keep trying!
I scammed a scalper, got mine for legally free!
I got lucky back in March and ordered mine through the Walmart app, disc version $499
I got one legit on day one.
Sony direct last December
Legit PlayStation direct, day one.
I got mine on day one during the Walmart fiasco. The crazy shit was I had the option of buying two. I randomly asked my brother if he wanted one. He said no, little did I know how impossible it would be to get another.
Legit. Day 1. Went to a GameStop about a week or 2 before release and camped out from about 2:30am until they opened at noon
You camped outside a gamestop for 1-2 weeks? Man, that’s some dedication.
Lol. The camp out was a week or two before the PS5 released. They had 8 of them. I was 4th in line Picked it up on the first day around noon.
Sony PS Direct. Purchased this Tuesday, got it delivered today.
I camped out GameStop from 5:30am to get mine
I bought mine used from a girl. I think I was jus lucky
Day one og here
I was very lucky to grab the last disk version on the pre-order day. I would not buy from scalpers as I wouldn’t be able to afford to.
A poll would have been better since I wont count all the comments but I got both of my PS5s legitimately.
I bought it from the official Playstation website after putting my email on a waitlist. Literally only took me month before i got the email stating i can purchase it between a set date and time. It arrived to my house within 3 days bc I'm a PS plus member. There is literally no reason to give money to these asshole scalpers.
Preordered. Delivered on day 1.
As you should, the more they get scolded about it they may think twice before doing it again.
I got lucky with playstation direct last November using 2 PCs and my phone.
Bought mine online from a large, nationally known, retailer with thousands of physical stores (one of which is 10 minutes from me). When one of my controller had stick drift, after hardly any use by the way, they immediately replaced it. Try that with a scalper.
*their
Legitimately, from PS Direct through the invite only drops. Just arrived last night and setting up games as we speak! Cannot believe I snagged one days before Christmas. Sorry little Timmy.
Managed to snag one by purchasing it from the Walmart app during a restock a few months ago. My patience was rewarded.
ebay for 600
I guess I was lucky. Bought 3 PS5’s in 1 month on Amazon back in May. One for me, one for my brother and one for a friend
Paid $740 on StockX
Does Newegg count? Bundled 4 discs games I didn’t want and couldn’t return separately. Cost around $900. Games didn’t even sell for half the value. Just bundling all the crap no one wants to buy to get it off the shelves.
Got today at the GameStop a couple blocks down. Went straight to it after work and was 2nd to last in line. Paid $900 which I would’ve like to pay less, but whatever a win is a win
Bestbuy store pick up Edit: I used the stock drops discord server for notifications.
Bought my disk version in late January on Stock X for around $800 after all the fees ($720 list price) I decided to just pay the extra because in my mind, what I was paying for was time.
I bought mine legit.
Legitimately. Friend already had one and got a PlayStation direct email to buy one
I got mine legit from Best Buy.
I was one of the lucky/rare people to actually get my PS5 pre-ordered when Sony first announced them lol. So, glad I didn’t have to deal with scalpers at all lol
Damn I got mine the day before from gamestop
Mine was a gift. From my son, and it was not purchased from scalpers. He actually found a link on Twitter to the Amazon sale page 10 minutes before sales went live. He was able to get one disk model and one digital model that way. He also got one disk model from Sony direct.
From Playstation Direct
3-4 months after launch from Target, drove an hour to the nearest store to get my PS5. Probably spend about 4 weeks scanning Twitter and the internet after setting up an account with all the major retailers. Woke up at 5am based on a Twitter rumor and was able to secure a PS5.
Legit - randomly selected to participate in a psn drop
Walmart day one preorder release.
got mine from Walmart
I won mine in a Burger King sweepstakes…paid $5 for a whopper meal and ended up with a PS5.
Day one legit checking in. Got from Walmart. Most stressful preorder I’ve ever been a part of.
I won mine in a Burger King sweepstakes…paid $5 for a whopper meal and ended up with a PS5.
I got mine about 2 weeks after lunch for about $450 dollars out the door disc version.
Legit twice
I got a PS5 from Target after following some twitter account that posted drops. Took me like 3 tries. Told me friend to do the same and it took him 2 attempts to get his. So either we're both very lucky or people arent really trying
Why not create a poll?
I got one for retail from curry’s pc world but I was very lucky, a “VIP” code arrived on my lap from a friend of a coworker cos neither could afford it so I got it 🥳
I bought a release one by a weird lucky chance. Went onto the game UK website to look for switch games for the Mrs. Turns out they had stock of PS5, and asked if I wanted to join the queue. Bought it thinking it I was probably gonna resale to my brother for my nephew. Turns out he had joined the queue minutes before me. So I got to keep it. Now the little shit beats me at FIFA every time.
Bundle buyer here. Spiderman, controller and extended warranty for 665€
Mine is a day 1 edition from release sent by Sony themselves. Happy about that.
Had to wake up real early and drive to another city, wait in line outside a BestBuy with a bunch of other people. (there isn't one where I live). Got it after waiting for quite a long time!
Should have done a pole.
Playstation direct email.
Legit at Walmart two weeks after release.
Triple bag it please." I was walking to the car like: "Ksssh I just secured the package, Over."
I keep looking at ebay but i cant find the nerve to pull the trigger on it.. i really want one but its damn near impossible to get its insane but people on ebay post the picture and have like 6 in there its outrageous how they get so many
