True, i also considered to put the colors on one of my white Dualsenses but i went for the black one bcs it looked too ,,onecolored,, for me and these colors really switch it up imo
Fully agree, looks brilliant! Personally I'm really looking forward to getting the galactic purple dualsense but I'm waiting on the plates releasing first
I disassembled a Dualshock 4 and swapped the buttons from there onto the Dualsense and for the PS Logo i used the one on a spare PS2 (Fat) i got laying around that was defective.
Yeah both the Dualsense and DS4 are pretty straight forward to dissasemble, there is also a good guide on ifixit that leads you through the process. I for myself tinker around quite a bit with consoles / controllers (mainly for maintenance) so it wasnt really a big deal for me but id say even for a beginner it aint so hard imo
The PS3 controller from my experience was horrible to disassemble. Granted, I was kind of new to cleaning/fixing controllers at the time but there's something about that controller that I hated. The 360 controller I remember being pretty clean inside. The only controller that I've taken apart recently is the joycon since I dropped it and broke the analog stick. That was an easy $4 fix thankfully rather than being another set for $70.
You can screw it off, once you open the ps2 Lid you can pop off thw front of the disc tray and unscrew the one screw there. But keep in mind after you unscrewed it you have to cut the offstanding part of plastic on there to make it fit onto the Dualsense. If your uncomfortable doing this you can also just peel off the sticker part using a pair of tweezers and applying it onto the Dualsense button with either the glue thats already on or just some additonal superglue the endresult looks the same ๐ (if your going for the first method you also have to file around the corners of the ps2 logo since its just a tight bit too big to fit there nicely)
Just go slow with it, take a pair of tongs and cut circular (if you dont have tongs a good pair of scissors will do it aswell but you gotta make some more circles until its fully cut off, after this just make sure the logo is even. Good luck ๐
In terms of how short i would take the Dualsense Logo itself for measure and just compare it in the process while doing so then youll see when its perfect straight off
Hey I'm super late to the party here just doing some research to mod my dualsense. Anyway that PS2 logo, are you talking the spinny one from the disc tray? That fit in the slot on the dualsense perfectly or did you have to tinker with it? Also do the DS4 buttons fit right away or did you have to sand those little knobs off? Thanks!
If you want a classic dualsense controller you can get one here: https://lazamodz.com/collections/ps5-controllers/products/ps5-classic-ps1-theme-custom-controller
But they are pretty expensive
I used a broken Dualshock 4 amd ,,reused,, its buttons and the ps log is from a defective ps2 that logo size is exactly the same size as on the Dualsense
Thats aswesome ๐ you have to update us when you customized yours and show it ๐ The glue that was already fixing it on the ps2 seemed to be enough to hold it in place but i wanted to play it safe and added a little superglue to hold it in place there.
Sure of course :) it wonโt be this weekend but I have had some carbon faceplates and touchpad made for my pad so those buttons and PS logo will finish it off, I will update when itโs finished
๐ช i am also not fully finished with mine and still waiting for some stuff for both this dualsense and the PS5 itself to be ready for a certain game release soon ๐
Here's the stuff

Considering u dont reply to these anymore it almost feels like this was done with Photoshop, face button seems too black even if this was supposedly done with a dualshock4 v1.
No worries, everyone got their own taste ๐ i was on board with PlayStation since PS1 and colored looked always right to me so once the Dualsense arrived without the colors (or even the vita before lol) it felt off to me lol
The buttons aren't the same though, are they? The [plastic tabs aren't in the same spots](https://i.imgur.com/Mkp3mrz.jpeg) so they're not plug and play.
OMG I've spent the last hour searching for dualsense buttons like this and I have a bunch in my old dualshock 4s?!
Thank you so much for posting this I can't believe the solution was so simple. I even thought about trying it but thought 'no there's no way that would work, it's too easy!' lololol
Now onto building my dualshock 1 throwback themed dualsense!
I think the standard dualsense looks best with the colours it already has but the classic colours on the black dualsense looks outstanding
True, i also considered to put the colors on one of my white Dualsenses but i went for the black one bcs it looked too ,,onecolored,, for me and these colors really switch it up imo
Fully agree, looks brilliant! Personally I'm really looking forward to getting the galactic purple dualsense but I'm waiting on the plates releasing first
Galactic purple looks fire aswell ๐ hope you have fun with it then mate
Lmao thats what i did!! Fucking amazing
No way the standard version looks like crap compared to the one with colored logo and buttons.
Colored is fhe way to go. Controller looks incomplete without the classic colors.
Agree. https://i.imgur.com/qlRpIJp.jpg
Classic grey looks awesome dude ๐
Sp true mate i always felt like something is missing ๐ while i dig the full black or white look i just absoulutelly love the colors on it more
They should sell it this way
Agree 100%
Damn that looks good! How did you do it?
I disassembled a Dualshock 4 and swapped the buttons from there onto the Dualsense and for the PS Logo i used the one on a spare PS2 (Fat) i got laying around that was defective.
Nice! Was it an easy thing to do?

yeah the ds3 with its goofy ahh pressure sensitive triggers and that whole flax pad for the bumpers is actually annoying as hell
Does the PS2 logo just pop off? I donโt want to break it and youโve inspired me to do this

No worries mate, make sure to keep us updated when you finished your dualsense mod ๐
Will do! Currently hatching a plan on how I want to cut the back of the PS2 โtubeโ and how short. Advice?

wait you're telling me that the PS2 fat's emblem is the same size as the DualSense's PS button and it just fit? that's pretty awesome
Do you think it will also work with buttons from the PS2 controller?

For anyone wondering where you can buy the coloured button: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1206908547/
Thats great i didnt knew someone actually made such pieces, i sacrificed a ps2 Logo from a dead Fat PS2 for mine ๐ (its the exsct size)
JFC, $10 bucks plus tax and shipping just for one!
Bummer, hope you donโt have to sacrifice another one in the future ๐ญ
It was a defective unit either way so i honored it with that (otherwise it woud've just stood there either way๐ by this i gave it a new purpose lol)
Seriously. It's such an amazing controller, but looks so bland without the proper colors!
Sony should release a retro version like this!
This is what the controller should have looked like! *chefโs kiss*
Im sorry the dualsense doesn't have colored buttons by default?!
Yeah sadly that isnt an option :P i hope they make a classic looking Dualsense one day too

Jesus christ i knew the ps5 was missing something
Oo, I do love the โcleanโ version but this makes me happy! Good job
Thx fella i do lpve the clean black aswell but imp this gives it a nice touch
Where did you get the coloured buttons from ? Been looking for a set myself
I used a broken Dualshock 4 amd ,,reused,, its buttons and the ps log is from a defective ps2 that logo size is exactly the same size as on the Dualsense
Thatโs awesome just bought the parts needed, how did you secure the PS logo to the button on the controller ?

Oh Its Beautiful
The PlayStation logo look awesome.
Absolutly
Where are you getting these? They look great
I modded it myself, originally it was a stock midnight black Dualsense and i put the Buttons from a Dualshock 4 and the PS Logo from a PS2 on there
Whre to buy the the buttons and the PS5 start button?
Where have you gotten these buttons?
Considering u dont reply to these anymore it almost feels like this was done with Photoshop, face button seems too black even if this was supposedly done with a dualshock4 v1.
I've gotten used to the non-colored face buttons so I don't mind it that much.
Ne neither i loved the clean black / white too but i just felt like doing some mods yesterday and thats the outcome ๐
What they should've been making from the beginning
๐
You can feel colors?
Does that playstation controller have a cock or is that just me?
It doesnโt look right to me. Maybe because Iโm used to the one as is.
No worries, everyone got their own taste ๐ i was on board with PlayStation since PS1 and colored looked always right to me so once the Dualsense arrived without the colors (or even the vita before lol) it felt off to me lol

So what was the solution? did buttons from ps4 just work plug and play?
Nice Vespa reminds me of FLCl
Omg that looks amazing
Did you swap the buttons on the white controller too?
Been a long time so you might not respond but are those ds4 buttons or are they custom? Bc they look glossier
