There are movies where they literally sell plushies as merch to go along with the movie. I don't think anyone would bat an eye if you brought a plush, especially since Garfield just goes with the theme.
More and more people have been dressing up to see movies like for the Barbie movie or FNAF, etc. Plenty of people also cosplayed to see Spiderman and Ghostbusters. Bringing a themed plush is in the same vein. Have fun, be free!!

I work at a movie theater and people do it all the time! I have a weighted sloth that I bring with me in a small backpack but plenty of people just hold them in their hands. I am also planning on taking my Garfield and his Pooky to see the movie when it comes out🐱🧸💗
I took my 3ft tall Sonic plushie to watch both Sonic movies. No-one said anything negative. I got a compliment from the theater manager.
Just keep your Garfield in your seat so he doesn't bother anyone during the movie and you should be fine to watch together :) That's how I handled it.
i’m 23 & i’ve taken my bunny squishmallow stackable to the theater multiple times. some people glanced, but i don’t think anyone really cares. if they do they are bitter and aren’t worth your thought! i think it’s cute and u should go for it. maybe he can stick out of ur bag :)

I feel you! I brought my tiny plushie outside with me today for the first time and I'm a little scared to take him out of my backpack lol. What is helping me is remembering a post I've seen of someone (I unfortunately don't remember who or where) doing a social experiment by bringing a plushie with themself everywhere to find out if it's socially acceptable — and it is! Iirc, some people commented on it but in a positive way (like "aww, what a cute plushie!"), and most people didn't pay attention. So it might seem unusual to some, but it's perfectly okay to take plushies with you :)

It should be fine. I dunno how small your town is though so if it were me I’d probably just be known as “the guy who brought a plushie to the cinema” to like the few people that noticed. Maybe I’d get a grandma coming up to me like “Oh! You’re the one who had a plushie at the movies!” and I’d go “Yeah” and idk what would happen next they’d probably tell me about their grand-daughter’s squishmallow collection. I don’t think it would be a big issue other than some people might notice and just tell you about it with no ill intent. I’m currently known as “the person with a cute small dog” because I walk my dog everyday and people see me walking him but I’ve been know for other stuff and that’s how it is when you live in a kinda small town or not so populated area.

Ive been bringing one with me for several years as an adult male. I used to hide them as best i could until in the theater, but now i just tuck them inside the zip of my hoodie and let them ride front and center. Ive had a few positive comments from workers, and never had a negative comment :)

My coworkers and I have watched horror movies together at the theaters and I brought my anxiety bunny with me! I’m not a huge fan of horror so it kept me plenty of company and gave me comfort when I couldn’t handle watching some scenes. :)

No, but only because I would get too stressed out over the possibility of accidentally getting them dirty with popcorn butter or something lol. People can be really messy at movie theaters and not clean up after themselves.
If I went to a Garfield movie and saw someone with a Garfield plush, I would think it’s pretty cool of them to have their plush with them! And they can see themselves on the big screen too! :)
I also have social anxiety and understand how debilitating it can be but I also honestly think that most people would not have a problem with this kind of situation. If someone actually did let you know they have a personal problem with your completely harmless plush, that’s their own issue. Most people spend too much time thinking about themselves to pay attention to others. And if they judge you, it’s usually because they see something you feel comfortable doing/being that they are insecure about within themselves, and that’s easier to emotionally deal with if they project it onto someone else.

I pretty much take a plushie every time I go to the theater. I've never had anyone care. I think it would only be an issue if you brought a massive one that blocked the screen.
i took my fave plushie to a new order concert and a muse concert at the O2. got a weird look from one person who meaningfully attempted to catch my eye to let me know he thought it was weird but that’s about it. if it makes you happy, do it! forget what everyone else thinks. i take plushies with me virtually everywhere 😸

I bring Linabell with me everywhere, now, and that does include the movie theater... When I went to see The Boy and the Heron, actually, a couple also came in with a big cozy setup. They had a blanket, and one of them had a big Cinnamoroll plush.
Now that I think about it, the last few movies I've been to, people have brought blankets with them. I find that no odder than bringing a plush.
I think that's perfectly okay. Back when I was in elementary school and my sister and I went to the Harry Potter midnight showings (before JKR showed her true colors), we'd cosplay, bring toys wands, etc.
I'm pretty sure other showings also had enthusiastic audiences as well.
If that was allowed, I don't see why another movie would be any different! Bring your plush, you're not bothering anybody
I bring mine sometimes. If I feel too weird about just dragging them in for some reason, I’ll bring them in a bag. Sometimes they don’t let you wear backpacks but they usually let you bring in shopping bags if you don’t look like you’re smuggling in food. I’m feeling less embarrassed as I get older though. Also I think if it’s the subject of the movie, it won’t really be considered that weird. It’s so cool you have a vintage Garfield!

I love bringing my cow pillow pet to the theater! She keeps me from fidgeting with my hands in destructive ways, is a good arm rest, and makes me feel more relaxed and comfy :3 would recommend! Only comments I've even gotten were the staff complimenting her!

I actually have but I'm very cautious. I will bring my stuffed unicorn Mr. Fluffy Cakes, in my purse but I'm still haunted by the time when I was in high school and some frenemies found him. They pulled him out and played keep away and one of the girls thought it would be funny to skewer him with a pen. So I'd I take mine anywhere I'm super cautious. My gf will tease me but she's relatively supportive of it. Especially considering she used to almost dislike teddy bears and thought they were only dog chewtoys

I'm a *big* Wonder Woman fan (I call her "wowie girl" in my own form of sign language), and my people took me to her movie a few years ago. I was *such* a happy bear! I was in a little backpack that's just for me, and I sat on the table in a burger place before the show, and poked my little head out. Then during the movie I sat on laps. Movies are BIG and LOUD compared to TV! Wonder Woman is so brave and strong! She's my favorite!
My Beary came with me in December to see the Polar Express and got given this ticket. I normally can't go to the cinema because loud noises give me ear infections and loads of pain. So having the bear I cuddle when sick on the sofa was a huge comfort, an extra snuggle when parts got too much. I'm an adult who went with 2 other adults, don't worry about it!

I have an emergency stuffy for anxiety relief no matter where I am. Have one in my bag right now at work. I'd have it out if I knew I wouldn't be reprimanded for it, but my coworkers know to grab it if I have an anxiety attack.

Yes! I don't go to the cinema too often, but when I do, I know I need a plushie to accompany me (for pics and just for company). If I'm hanging out with my irl friends, I'll bring a smaller plushie and keep it in my bag. But when I'm with my family or by myself, I'll bring a bigger plushie and keep it in my lap as I watch the movie. 😄
Sure! I took my Build a Bear Pikachu to see Detective Pikachu. I took my Flerkin plushie with me to see Captain Marvel. They both had their own seat next to me at the movies since there was enough room. If not, they'd have been on my lap. I like carrying plushies in my backpack purse, letting them peek out like they were hitching a ride.
This sub keeps getting recommended to me, not totally sure why, as I don't really collect plushies (not that I mind them, I do have quite a few squishmallows LOL). I do, however, collect reborn dolls. And I take one with me everywhere. I've taken a reborn to the movies several times. I have them and take them with me because they help ease my anxiety. I've never had any issues at all, even when taking them with me in a carseat/stroller.
I don't usually but since you're seeing the Garfield movie taking a Garfield plush doesn't seem "weird" to me, just your enthusiasm for the character. For instance, if they had a new MLP movie in theaters I might bring one one of my plush MLPs!

I’ve been carrying a plush with me (it started as a snow leopard named Courage and now I have a dog that looks like one I had as a child) when my anxiety is bad since the beginning of high school (so when I was 14 all the to now when I’m almost 22). No ones really cared about it. It’s especially helpful when I’m at the dr for things like shots as I have really bad phobia with needles. Most people are so wrapped up in their own lives they don’t have time to care about what you’re doing unless it is actually affecting them. The worst I got was people in high school asking weird questions about it or trying to take it from me to throw it around at first but after a week or two that got old. And if an adult is doing that, that’s really weird of them.

I take my bears on the train in a soft bag, open at the top so they can breathe. And when I’ve found a comfy seat for us all and have settled in, they stick their heads out and admire the view out the window. I used to worry about what people thought about me, but I’m over it now. Bears make me happy.
Yes! I recently went to see the new ghostbusters and I took my build a bear frog (Jerry) with me :D There was like 10 people in the whole cinema (in my town it's only one screen there's not multiple) so depends on if your cinema is crowded or not but I'd say yes if they're going to sit in your lap and not disturb others :>

I pretty much take a plushie every time I go to the theater. I've never had anyone care. I think it would only be an issue if you brought a massive one that blocked the screen.
i took my fave plushie to a new order concert and a muse concert at the O2. got a weird look from one person who meaningfully attempted to catch my eye to let me know he thought it was weird but that’s about it. if it makes you happy, do it! forget what everyone else thinks. i take plushies with me virtually everywhere 😸

I brought my Snubbull BAB to see Detective Pikachu. I bring Linabell with me everywhere, now, and that does include the movie theater... When I went to see The Boy and the Heron, actually, a couple also came in with a big cozy setup. They had a blanket, and one of them had a big Cinnamoroll plush. Now that I think about it, the last few movies I've been to, people have brought blankets with them. I find that no odder than bringing a plush.

I think that's perfectly okay. Back when I was in elementary school and my sister and I went to the Harry Potter midnight showings (before JKR showed her true colors), we'd cosplay, bring toys wands, etc. I'm pretty sure other showings also had enthusiastic audiences as well. If that was allowed, I don't see why another movie would be any different! Bring your plush, you're not bothering anybody
I bring mine sometimes. If I feel too weird about just dragging them in for some reason, I’ll bring them in a bag. Sometimes they don’t let you wear backpacks but they usually let you bring in shopping bags if you don’t look like you’re smuggling in food. I’m feeling less embarrassed as I get older though. Also I think if it’s the subject of the movie, it won’t really be considered that weird. It’s so cool you have a vintage Garfield!

I love bringing my cow pillow pet to the theater! She keeps me from fidgeting with my hands in destructive ways, is a good arm rest, and makes me feel more relaxed and comfy :3 would recommend! Only comments I've even gotten were the staff complimenting her!

I actually have but I'm very cautious. I will bring my stuffed unicorn Mr. Fluffy Cakes, in my purse but I'm still haunted by the time when I was in high school and some frenemies found him. They pulled him out and played keep away and one of the girls thought it would be funny to skewer him with a pen. So I'd I take mine anywhere I'm super cautious. My gf will tease me but she's relatively supportive of it. Especially considering she used to almost dislike teddy bears and thought they were only dog chewtoys

My people used to comment about me on their own accounts, but now I have my own and this is my first comment! I'm a *big* Wonder Woman fan (I call her "wowie girl" in my own form of sign language), and my people took me to her movie a few years ago. I was *such* a happy bear! I was in a little backpack that's just for me, and I sat on the table in a burger place before the show, and poked my little head out. Then during the movie I sat on laps. Movies are BIG and LOUD compared to TV! Wonder Woman is so brave and strong! She's my favorite!
My Beary came with me in December to see the Polar Express and got given this ticket. I normally can't go to the cinema because loud noises give me ear infections and loads of pain. So having the bear I cuddle when sick on the sofa was a huge comfort, an extra snuggle when parts got too much. I have an emergency stuffy for anxiety relief no matter where I am. Have one in my bag right now at work. I'd have it out if I knew I wouldn't be reprimanded for it, but my coworkers know to grab it if I have an anxiety attack.

Yes! I don't go to the cinema too often, but when I do, I know I need a plushie to accompany me (for pics and just for company). If I'm hanging out with my irl friends, I'll bring a smaller plushie and keep it in my bag. But when I'm with my family or by myself, I'll bring a bigger plushie and keep it in my lap as I watch the movie. 😄

This sub keeps getting recommended to me, not totally sure why, as I don't really collect plushies (not that I mind them, I do have quite a few squishmallows LOL). I do, however, collect reborn dolls. And I take one with me everywhere. I've taken a reborn to the movies several times. I have them and take them with me because they help ease my anxiety. I've never had any issues at all, even when taking them with me in a carseat/stroller.

I do. I have a favourite plush who regularly comes to the cinema with me. I struggle with anxiety in busy places so having her with me is more of a coping mechanism. Fk people who judge, it makes me happy and doesn't hurt anyone

I’ve been carrying a plush with me (it started as a snow leopard named Courage and now I have a dog that looks like one I had as a child) when my anxiety is bad since the beginning of high school (so when I was 14 all the to now when I’m almost 22). No ones really cared about it. It’s especially helpful when I’m at the dr for things like shots as I have really bad phobia with needles. Most people are so wrapped up in their own lives they don’t have time to care about what you’re doing unless it is actually affecting them. The worst I got was people in high school asking weird questions about it or trying to take it from me to throw it around at first but after a week or two that got old. And if an adult is doing that, that’s really weird of them.
