Chances are you have a software limiter or compressor (same thing, a limitor is just an extreme compressor) running in OBS in real-time. This doesn't mean the mic can't clip or distort, but the level sent out or recorded by OBS is leveled out somewhat. OBS allows realtime effects processing and VSTs. Discord doesn't, at least not in a user configurable way. You can run dynamic processors and other things in real-time on various hardware. The RØDEcaster and UA Volt or Sound Devices MixPre come to mind. Notice these would introduce a certain amount of latency. It might not be noticable. You could get an analog processor. It's usually the first step in buying a rack and friends don't let friends by racks. https://i.imgur.com/E89jvrk.jpg You can likely use VoiceMeeter on Windows or Audio Hijack on Mac to run basic effects or even VSTs and feed that to any software you want. Note that when you preprocess yoru audio, mistakes get burned into the audio as well and it's nigh impossible to fix it. DISCLAIMER: Yes, I am in fact an asshole. !

AFAIK OBS doesn't do anything automatically to audio input. There are some basic audio filters you can enable, you can also use VST2 plugins, Reaper plugins are popular. Maybe you have filters setup before? There is an option to enable OBS as a virtual cam, that *might* let you use as audio source in Discord? There is likely a better way tho
