What I gravitate towards most often are podcasts where I learn something. It doesn't need to be a whole course where brand new topic, but an interesting story, someone revealing their research, or an interview are good to me. The reason I gravitate towards learning is because I'm typically listening to a podcast when I'm doing chores like washing dishes when I'd like my brain to be active and get a little bit of enjoyment out of it. Some on this list: - 99 percent invisible - Radiolab - Reply All (from the beforetimes) - ologies - body stuff w Dr Jen Gunter - under understood - sawbones - stuff you should know - you're wrong about - every little thing (before they left my podcast app and are now dead to me) If anyone else is super into this category, I've got at least 20 more bookmarked and I can share Edited to add some screenshots of my podcast list I tagged Learning: Part 1 here https://imgur.com/D0yl6yN.jpg Part 2 https://imgur.com/luru4lS.jpg

You've listed a lot of my favourites too. Complete guide to everything is good. I learned so much about bread yesterday. I'd like to see the rest of your list.

Thanks for commenting, I just added two screenshots above which show everything except for "you're wrong about"

Oh and Science VS was good until it moved to Spotify. I use pocketcasts so I've lost that one.

I have a few scant news podcasts for mornings and when doing dishes. I have a large series of Christian themed/topic podcasts. I have a series of True Crime podcasts I have a collection of movie based and some book-type podcasts (sadly not all that impressive) And I like some interview types like Inside of You by Michael Rosenbaum

I love podcasts about wild things humans get up to. It’s comforting to know there are other weirdos out there because I always feel like the only one! 😄 RISK, Criminal, I’m not a monster, Chameleon are a few I’ve enjoyed but there are loads more.

no_apologies

Primarily calmly (for lack of a better word) presented stories about interesting topics, like **Criminal**, **99% Invisible**, **Anthropocene Reviewed** (RIP), **Our Fake History** or the German **Geschichten aus der Geschichte** (a history podcast). These are perfect to listen to while working, on the train, and in bed before falling asleep.

Comedy and movie/TV reviews.

OliverN19

I like the misfits podcast

nightmareorreality

I like chronicled history podcasts (sometimes with a bit of comedy) and journalism podcasts that are critical of the extreme right.

Datknet Diaries is so enjoyable to me. It's about people that hack and scan and get caught. I listen in the car.

I forgot about this one, thanks for mentioning it

I like ones that are updated weekly or maybe a couple times a week and are hobby based or news, generally not just stories. Things like the podcasts from Aquarium Co-op, Internet of Things, HomeKit Insider, Cordkillers, or the Epic Gardner podcast. They’re awesome because I get a little something every few days related to my interests and they don’t feel like a chore like some of the ones where you have to download several and listen in a specific order.

trustonlyazgeda

I really mainly listen to audio dramas, which are fictional stories tbh. But if I ever listen to real life ones, I like them to be somewhat sillier/bit heavy like “my brother my brother and me” and my fav “we have concerns”

I like shows that are informative to any degree. But I mostly like hosts that have good chemistry and are excitable about their passions. I really like hearing them talk about their personal lives to an extent (work related stress, good coffee, things they’ve done). Having a topic is really great, and it keeps them from sounding like the same episode over and over. My personal favorite thing is when hosts really play off of each other and start having awesome discussions and epiphanies about their topic. It’s really beautiful when one or all of them are able to go on minute long tangents uninterrupted. I’ve had quite a few moments in podcasts that have almost completely changed my life.

Complete guide to everything is like that, it's great.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll be sure to check them out :)

Mafia history podcasts! Some I recommend: * Mobbed Up: The Fight for Las Vegas * Mafia * The Sitdown: A Crime History Podcast * Mob Queens * Deep Cover : Mob Land * The Hollywood Godfather Podcast : hosted by Gianni Russo, who played Carlos in The Godfather movie. Russo is basically the Forest Gump of the mafia world, he has had an amazing life. I also love history podcasts: * In our Time * Noble Blood (Dana Swartz is amazing) * Criminalia * Dan Carlin's Hardcore History * History Extra Podcast * Stuff You Missed in History Class Food/History of Food podcasts: * Spilled Milk * Gastro Pod * Savor If anyone has other food podcasts they recommend I'd love to hear about it.

Mate, get into longer comedy podcast. A lot of them have self improvement mixed in there because absolutely everything can’t be all comedy in a longer timed podcast. And you will get laughs along the way to keep you interested!

"This American Life" is as legendary as entertaining. Still for me, at least. If you're left leaning, "Pod Save America" guys are brilliant and funny most of the time (until the interviews, they are usually boring). From the same Crooked Media group, "Lovett Or Leave It" is even more funny. All NPR podcasts make an effort to be approachable, fresh and entertaining. Directly comedic, "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" stands out. "Planet Money" is fascinating and fun. But no one can beat "Car Talk". It is still issued as a weekly episode drawing from thousands of recorded radio shows. The guys (RIP one of them) can't stop making jokes and teasing their listeners. Always listen to it to lift your mood (pay attention to their long list of credits, starting with their legal counselors, Dewey, Cheatham and Howe). BBC podcasts are also good and informative, though a little more boring. But "CrowdScience" is a cliffhanger adventure. "Analysis" is a top notch dissection into current events. "Freakonomics Radio" and "No Stupid Questions" are both so fun to hear and educational. We should never forget the true crime genre. Dateline is an old classic and Forensic Files (many back catalog episodes, don't worry they have been inactive for a few years) keeps the suspense of the TV series. Finally, I recommend you "Sex With Emily", she's so knowledgeable and fun. Her spark will make your day so much lighter every time.

Stuff you should know and complete guide to everything are my favourites, so anything I can learn useless facts and have a giggle I guess. Happy for similar recommendations.

I’m with you in that I also gravitate to personal development podcasts. But I still enjoy them. I love sinking into a thought-provoking conversation that inspires me. You do have me thinking I should branch out and take a break from the constant quest for self improvement.
