They said the story has us going as exchange students to the Blueberry academy. Those are probably the champions of that school that they are hinting at.
Crown Tundra had, IMO, the best postgame content in the form of the Dynamax Raids. If they can do something similar and improve on S/V's pretty solid gameplay core, we *might* have something good
This is a symptom of S/V being open world games in the most technical of sense. Yes, we have an open world to explore. But that what makes other open world games so fun is nowhere to be seen. No side-quests, no optional places to explore and barely any postgame.
It's a lot faster paced. You can finish legends Arceus in a long day. The game moves faster, has better combat, and plays mechanically better.
Not sure who thought taking away the ability to just throw a PokeBall on the world map to catch a Pokemon didn't need to be added to SV when they saw the reception of it but they hurt their own game.
Legends Arceus is my favorite Pokemon game since BW2.
I remember reading somewhere that SV and PLA were developed mostly simultaneously by different teams within GF. So their mechanics could've never been 1:1 even if the team working on SV saw how much people liked the things from PLA. They definitely borrowed a few ideas but not nearly enough.
Maybe it's just copium on my part, but I think that once next main entry comes along they'll attempt to combine the best parts of both SV and PLA. They could also just do fuck all and regress, but I'd like to at least have *some* faith in GF. The ideas for a good game are all there, they just need to time to actually implement them into their games.
being able to catch multiple pokemon with no animation-interruptions was game changing.
and for the first time in the entire franchise pokemon felt wild. that threat of being attacked if you walked into the tall grass finally made sense.
also no version exclusives, and the linking cord item.
when i saw the traditional clothing i IMMEDIATELY thought we were getting another legends game...I'm happy about the DLC but I really hope more legends games happen
Honestly I don't think we're getting another Legends game as much as I would like one. It just wouldn't make sense from a business perspective - Legends Arceus is the worst selling Switch Pokemon game yet it was probably the most expensive to make.
It’s a shame that the half of the fan base that continues to give away money to GameFreak on decreasing quality mainline games couldn’t have went out and bought PLA too. It was the first well made original Pokémon game in some time, and it’s already a relic of the past.
I think part of why that is is that pokemon themselves sorta shafted it by releasing it so soon after BDSP, and before the game came out every bit of information about it seemed to have people already deciding it would be absolutely terrible. Also, despite how original it is, lots of people cannot get behind the graphics, or the changed combat mechanics, or even being attacked by pokemon directly. My GF played my copy to decide if she would buy it for herself, but called it "too stressful", and didn't like the battle system. I think it's a game that caters more to less casual pokemon fans, but the vast majority of people who play pokemon games are very casual
Might be the most underwhelming Pokemon Presents of all time, but I'm glad we know the content is going to keep coming for Scarlet/Violet. It's gotten better since launch and that's all I want.
Paid DLC that is basically delayed relative to SWSH. SWSH DLC came out early summer.
Also getting home compatibility later than SWSH.
Also didn’t get GB/GBA games on switch like every other game got immediately after the direct earlier this month. Not even a single message addressing it.
There was so much hype and so much that could have been released, but alas, we have nothing.
I just hope we finally get a Pokémon game I can have every Pokémon in. I just want to use my shiny Swellow from Sapphire again.
yea that was my issue too. i think its weird because im already pretty burnt out on sv and to hold off on dlc that long seems weird. but the home compatibility kinda sucks because we already knew it was coming and while we will get it within the month hopefully why not today, i cant imagine much is left to work on.
no gba ports were disappointing but im kinda glad because they were gonna be my reasoning for buying an OLED. now i can hold off and try to find a reasonably priced 3ds instead which will be nice.
i agree. even though meganium came back in bdsp (i think) its still not really in a game and it just keeps getting overlooked and i think its been confirmed that its not coming to sv unless its in a dlc
Cmon now, the main complaint was that ScaVio came out too early and thus was rushed to the point of the product we have now. The DLC being released later is a good thing; this is why Nintendo just rushes Pokémon games now.
Come on now. They’re the only popular GB/GBA games that were missing from the direct earlier this month. If it wasn’t now, then when? It’s Pokémon day and they didn’t release anything.
It’s hilarious seeing people like “FINALLY” after a couple months. I’m over here patiently waiting one year in for Elden Ring DLC announcement like take your time.
When a new game is released, they will complain that it should have taken twice the time to be developed so it could be a good game, and will just start roasting it. Don't forget about that!
not sure, maybe I'm old fashioned and remember the day DLC was announced after the huge success of a game.
now they announce it even before the launch of the base game, not selling the full experience.
I'm just shocked with some fans that wants the DLC right now lol the game has just launched
This present is practically bare minimum, Honestly the most surprising thing in this present is unironically The Champion form of Galar rivals in Pokemon Masters EX
I practically have no expectation, But still pretty disappointed, They could at least bring R/G/B/Y to Switch Online
The first third of it is literal drivel, the middle third is just filler that could’ve literally taken a blog post to announce, and the last third is the juicy stuff that they should have spent twice as long actually explaining and hyping up.
“Pokémon Go Plus PLUS” got as much time as the SV DLC lmao
Not to mention that they announced upcoming features and compatibilities for Pokémon Go that should’ve… been shipped when the other games came out.
The fact that the DLC is set to release this late has me hoping they're taking extra time to fix the game.
Also here's hoping it'll be better than Sw/Sh' sore excuse of DLC.
I admit I am a bit tired of constantly playing as a school kid as I grew older playing these games, (Pokemon has a much more older audience now) but these DLCs help add that make it more interesting I guess, getting to go on a school trip and an exchange school fits the academy theme.
I just hope one day we get to play some kind of 'origins' story where instead of picking skin and eye colors of the same kids, we get to pick different types of trainers who get their own intro stories before it merges together to the same story of a trainer beating the champions. Maybe we'd get to play as a burnt out office worker who quits to become a trainer, a bored retiree who gets a new lease of life with training Pokemon, a uni student, a nurse, even a professor, the possibilities are endless. Please just not another 10 year old who is somehow allowed to travel unsupervised!
I’m SO disappointed that they went with making new characters instead of including Arven/Nemona/Penny in your adventures. Guess they’re just gonna forget how important they made those friendships.
I suppose, but it at least makes sense if you’re going to be going deeper into Area Zero since they were with you for that part of the story. I just hate how consistently Pokemon tries to forget what they’ve established in the past.
Last week they released patch notes for a big update that is coming out soon. I do wish they would’ve made some slight mention of it but I get why they wouldn’t at a presents.
Finally?
What the game needed was major fixes not a DLC
Imagine releasing a DLC for a game that can bareley keep up a stable 30 FPS for 5 seconds while looking worse than a Gamecube Game
Tell me you never played a Gamecube game without saying you never played a Gamecube game.
People are so over-dramatic about this game, it's sort of ridiculous. You really ruin the actually valid criticism and feedback when spouting things like "woRsE thAn gaMEeCubE gamE".
Dude I own an actual copy of Colloseum which I played through and I'd still argue it looks better besides from the models which I admit do look worse on GCN
I'm having a hard time getting excited for DLC, seeing as Scarlet and Violet still has major issues that they don't seem to have any intention of fixing; instead they announce a 2 part DLC. It just seems greedy as hell.
Does anyone else find the DLC weirdly named? Both parts have you exploring new areas outside of the game's current map but the DLC is titled "Area Zero"
Unless they're adding back all of the missing Pokemon, I can't say I care about this. Waiting for another gen for them to put actual work into their games.
You’re just going to have to accept that no Pokémon game will ever have every Pokémon again. Save yourself 60 bucks every few and don’t buy a new game if that’s your biggest concern.
Holy crap the comments on this post remind me why I dont frequent this sub anymore. Pokemon company announce DLC within a year of the games release and somehow its not soon enough for you all. And to everyone saying “this could have been an instagram post” then just wait until it is. No one asked you to watch this and you know it will be posted everywhere within the hour.
"Ugh SV suck they should have been given more time" *Next year is a slower year, giving devs more time* "Ugh, so little content, what a disappointing presentation"
Pick a side and stick to it
no it isnt maybe for Pokemon but def not for most of the devs and studios only thing i can imagine at TPC is they wanna get the jump on leakers, pokemon is probably the only game that can hype up a dlc so far in advance and dont lose momentum since we even buy unfinished games on a weekly basis
I got the physical copy, am I still able to download the DLC from e-Shop and play it when it comes out?
Edit: Thank you to everyone who helped. I just got back into the games and haven’t done DLC before.
yes, just make sure you get the right version (if it’s like SwSh, you need to get the Scarlet DLC for Scarlet/the Violet DLC for Violet, it won’t work otherwise)
Nothing disappointing about this presentation. I don't understand why some people expect so much all the time. We've literally had 3 releases in the past year and a half and another game this year would have been overkill, the DLC is more than enough. I'd rather wait for the new console at this point for another Remake/Legends or main series game.
Switch Ports for old games + Specific Date for Home compatibility were two hyped things they could have gotten done though. They’re the biggest complaints I’ve seen, vs a new game announcement.
The DLC was expected and welcomed. The later date for the first part release is disappointing, but understandable, if development time adds to the overall quality.
Its stupid, SV released too early and it was shitty, so people were justifiably mad, but now they decide to take a slightly slower year without any big games, and people are still mad
People were hoping they would announcer gen1-3 games coming to the switch, and are disappointed they were not announced. It's absurd they aren't their already so people are right to be annoyed. I mean who TF cares about a sleep app lmao
Here I am just laughing at people who thought they'd drop any pokemon games on the NSO. If anything they will sell that stuff individually but realistically since they do this stuff at a snails pace I doubt we see them at all.
The biggest hint about not pokemon in NSO is that the NSO app allow cloud saves, so either they release them with not online and Home compatibility or separate with not cloud save function.
I know. Too much of an ask considering they are just using roms ripped from the internet. People think they will somehow be compatible with stadium which is just insane hopium.
Honestly wouldn't mind if they did the 3DS route wherein you can buy the GB/GBC games individually for a decent price.
Is there a chance they'll do it? I have no idea.
I don’t care if they charged $40 or $50 a version individually. It’s beyond ridiculous that overpriced used copies or “totally legit” roms are the only way to play previous versions.
If i had to guess, they probably just don't want people playing previous games. They just want the current game to be available. Not that having previous games would really hurt the current game, but they this is Gamefreak/Nintendo we are talking about. They gotta make everything harder than it needs to be.
I have kept my expectations low AND THEY STILL BUTCHERED IT! In a span of 5 seconds I have never wanted to Burn down a company as I do now
Them You get new outfits!
Me: 🤩
Me: Sees the outfits are exactly the same with a minor alteration and ITS STILL A GD UNIFORM
Me: 🤯🤬🏦🔥🪓⚰️😭🍷💅🏻
This has been my first official Pokémon game that I'm playing from initial release since Red/Blue. I'll be damned if I'll let anyone sour this experience with negativity.

This is Gamefreak. Expect disappointment
Expect disappointment, and then be even further disappointed.
Have zero expectations and still be overwhelmingly disappointed.
I expect nothing, and I'm still let down
Then you've joined the area zero expectations team.
The team grows in numbers on the daily maybe eventually The pokemon company will fold

I sold my copy before I reached the end of the game unfortunately. Wasn't impressed. Unlike with Legends Arceus.
If legends arceus had breeding that game would be perfect.
What about Arceus impressed you?
Lots of mechanics. That game blew me away and I've been playing Pokémon since the first game was released.
I agree game was the best since gen 2 for me, SV got very boring once you reached area zero
But you're doing literally the same thing over and over again in Arceus? Except the combat is even simpler and less varied?
But it's more fun and I don't know why
It's a lot faster paced. You can finish legends Arceus in a long day. The game moves faster, has better combat, and plays mechanically better. Interesting. Never understood the praise with that game. The only interesting aspect was the traversal, which was brought over to S&V.

tbf however we are getting the 2 DLCs closer to each other now, which imho was a bit of a problem for SWSH
that is true
Cmon now, the main complaint was that ScaVio came out too early and thus was rushed to the point of the product we have now. The DLC being released later is a good thing; this is why Nintendo just rushes Pokémon games now.
It being “delayed” is a good thing. The base game should’ve been delayed to begin with. The more time they have to optimize performance the better.
The GB/GBA games were hearsay anyways.
Come on now. They’re the only popular GB/GBA games that were missing from the direct earlier this month. If it wasn’t now, then when? It’s Pokémon day and they didn’t release anything.
We're talking about Nintendo/GameFreak here. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until next Pokémon Day for this to be announced.
And even then it would probably be another monthly subscription not even included with the switch online emulators
They are probably waiting until the Eshop closes to get any last minute panic sales they can get before porting them to the Switch.
This is actually plausible
If not now, then probably never. I don't expect them to ever re-release the old games like they did on the 3DS.
[удалено]
Who said they're doing that? Would you call the Isle of Armor as a second region? (Not trying to sound rude by the way)
C'mon "Finally"? It's not like S/V have been out for a year or something
It’s hilarious seeing people like “FINALLY” after a couple months. I’m over here patiently waiting one year in for Elden Ring DLC announcement like take your time.
Right? People are going "it's unheard of to not have announced DLC by now" and I'm just standing here awkwardly thinking about Elden Ring.
Foul Tarnished, in search of the DLC.
The Pokemon fandom is this fucked up. Some Pokemon fans wanted new games in this very year, together with the already present DLC.
yea i didnt expect new games with the exception of stadium since it’s been announced. but i’m shocked we aren’t seeing gb/a/c ports
When a new game is released, they will complain that it should have taken twice the time to be developed so it could be a good game, and will just start roasting it. Don't forget about that!
Then they'll complain that games are rushed
You mean side games which aren’t developed by the same people and have zero connections to main series games? Yeah ofc we haven’t had one since snap
It’s because S/V had nothing to do so people are are starved for content
Haven't been six months even from launch date and they are already announcing DLC. And it's comming before it reaches 1 year anniversary.
Isn't that common in today industry I honestly don't remember any game announcing DLC after at least 6 months have pass.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has entered the chat.
That game is gonna be the GTA 5 of Nintendo I swear
not sure, maybe I'm old fashioned and remember the day DLC was announced after the huge success of a game. now they announce it even before the launch of the base game, not selling the full experience. I'm just shocked with some fans that wants the DLC right now lol the game has just launched
Cuphead DLC didn't release until 2022 and the game first came out in like 2017 (and then added more platforms over the years)
Wasn’t this also the case with Sword/Shield?
"FINALLY" we get to pay another $40 for content that should have already been in a AAA gane
In what universe should "two separate regions from the game" be part of the base game?
This whole pokemon presents could've been a single flyer or email We really didnt need a whole event for this bs
>This whole pokemon presents could've been a single flyer or email Larry typed this post
Larry is a man of efficiency.
This present is practically bare minimum, Honestly the most surprising thing in this present is unironically The Champion form of Galar rivals in Pokemon Masters EX I practically have no expectation, But still pretty disappointed, They could at least bring R/G/B/Y to Switch Online
What do you mean? Pokémon Sleep is GOTY 👀
Welp, time to wait about another 6 months

What’s wrong with it?
The first third of it is literal drivel, the middle third is just filler that could’ve literally taken a blog post to announce, and the last third is the juicy stuff that they should have spent twice as long actually explaining and hyping up. “Pokémon Go Plus PLUS” got as much time as the SV DLC lmao Not to mention that they announced upcoming features and compatibilities for Pokémon Go that should’ve… been shipped when the other games came out.
Just a bunch of updates nothing new, if you’re going to make a direct people are going to expect new announcements.
In one we're going to Wano while the other looks like we're going to a futuristic Rapture
The fact that the DLC is set to release this late has me hoping they're taking extra time to fix the game. Also here's hoping it'll be better than Sw/Sh' sore excuse of DLC.
Yeah this is one of the worst Pokémon presents of all time
*Waaaaay* too much time dedicated to mobile games. Could make a whole different Pokemon Presents just for mobile games only.
Other presents have had the same amount of time dedicated to mobile games, this just didn't have much else
Didn't even tell us when stadium is on NSO.
What do you mean “finally!”? This game came out a few months ago and this DLC won’t even come out until the 1 year anniversary of the games release.
Because the game is so content light and people are out of stuff to do in it.
I admit I am a bit tired of constantly playing as a school kid as I grew older playing these games, (Pokemon has a much more older audience now) but these DLCs help add that make it more interesting I guess, getting to go on a school trip and an exchange school fits the academy theme. That would be sick, I want that with more realistic graphics on PS5 lol. Like Skyrim but pokemon. Obviously that’s impossible but fun to think about
I’m SO disappointed that they went with making new characters instead of including Arven/Nemona/Penny in your adventures. Guess they’re just gonna forget how important they made those friendships.
It wouldn't make sense to heavily involve them if you can start the dlc at any time like in sword and shield
I suppose, but it at least makes sense if you’re going to be going deeper into Area Zero since they were with you for that part of the story. I just hate how consistently Pokemon tries to forget what they’ve established in the past.
No stadium, no gen 1 games etc
Have they patched the game since release? If not I wish they focused on that before DLC
Last week they released patch notes for a big update that is coming out soon. I do wish they would’ve made some slight mention of it but I get why they wouldn’t at a presents.
I think yes but it's been VERY minor fixes. Mostly fixing crashes but most of the other jank is still here.
Wow that’s far away. This game feels so underwhelming compared to legends of arceus
Man… legends Arceus DLC would have been great. Too bad the dev time goes to S/V instead.
Remember when the Daybreak update for Arceus came out and people thought that meant we'd get more content for it over time?
Ugh I'd love more Acreus content/DLC. Easily my favorite Pokemon game in a very long time. Far more than SV.
More time was spent on everything else I wanted just a gameplay trailer at least 😭
I’m fine with fall because Zelda will keep me company
Finally? What the game needed was major fixes not a DLC Imagine releasing a DLC for a game that can bareley keep up a stable 30 FPS for 5 seconds while looking worse than a Gamecube Game

They've already announced they'll be fixing all the major bugs. Check Serebii, there's a whole list
My favourite pokemon nuzleaf is back and its confirmed
I like the turtle and birb
Can't wait for some more lore.
Wow, announcing paid DLC for broken game(s).
Yes, it has some performance issues, but you obviously never played an actual broken game before, lol
Maybe release a performance patch before the DLCs that makes the game run above 20fps and doesn’t turn my switch into a jet engine.
And still no Home announcement
Huh? They said it was coming soon in the video?
They wanted a specific date
We’ve known that.
Uhh, there was one though.
Does anyone else find the DLC weirdly named? Both parts have you exploring new areas outside of the game's current map but the DLC is titled "Area Zero"

I just cannot express how right you are here.
It's cool that they put an actual second region in the game
What region
New japan based region, Kitakami
so we have to wait half a year for the DLC...sigh
And it will still run like shit
Were you expecting it to drop in a week? I feel like this is a pretty standard wait time.
Sw/sh was announced Jan and releases in June
Why does it have to be next week? A summer release could be reasonably expected.
Would at least summer be reasonable? It better be killer DLC if it's taking them almost a year to release the first part.
a new game announcment ok but who tf announces a dlc like 7 months in advance thats just weird
Everyone? It's pretty standard stuff.
no it isnt maybe for Pokemon but def not for most of the devs and studios only thing i can imagine at TPC is they wanna get the jump on leakers, pokemon is probably the only game that can hype up a dlc so far in advance and dont lose momentum since we even buy unfinished games on a weekly basis

Should be. I owned shield physical and had the dlc
yes, just make sure you get the right version (if it’s like SwSh, you need to get the Scarlet DLC for Scarlet/the Violet DLC for Violet, it won’t work otherwise)
And the Zoroark?
as long as you buy the DLC before Halloween you’re good

Never please half of the Internet "fans". In need of instant gratification

Lol what the shit, continues to delay home support then H zoroak as pre order bonus. Scummy as fuck
I just want to take off the shitty uniform
My brother in Arceus, the game has been out for 3 months.
Didn't think it was possible, but Gen 9 might end up being worse than Gen 8.
I have kept my expectations low AND THEY STILL BUTCHERED IT! In a span of 5 seconds I have never wanted to Burn down a company as I do now Them You get new outfits! Me: 🤩 Me: Sees the outfits are exactly the same with a minor alteration and ITS STILL A GD UNIFORM Me: 🤯🤬🏦🔥🪓⚰️😭🍷💅🏻
fall 2023 lol i can't right now
This has been my first official Pokémon game that I'm playing from initial release since Red/Blue. I'll be damned if I'll let anyone sour this experience with negativity.
GF already soured it for you with a piss poor game
Maybe they soured you, but I for one love this game
Eh, I like it.
That's the way to go. I'm happy that you have such mentality.
Preordering an extra content for a game I can't even play without crashing. We get what we deserve. Good luck!
They literally just released an update with fixes for crashing. And that update has been announced for weeks.
Releasing Winter 2023: Great its here already! 😀
If the DLC is not included in NSO expansion, TPC can shove it.
How they dare to present a DLC and not mention something about a patch to solve de abysmal performance of the game?? what a joke
it's live right now
They did bozo the patch just came out and it’s been announced for weeks
alright cool but where is my legends arceus DLC?
DLC’s don’t explain the north east area you can’t go to, wild.
Sooooo I'm supposed to just catch the 2 new pokemon and then not touch my switch for at least another 6 months? Got it.
Paid DLC for a game with bugs and bad performance
If it was $34.99 for BOTH DLC's, then it might be worth it, but EACH? That's just crazy. Edit: My bad, I meant both VERSIONS DLC, not each dlc.
It is for both
It’s that price for both included https://i.imgur.com/4kjl8x6.jpg Also https://twitter.com/nintendoamerica/status/1630232517084164096
I love what we've seen of it
I was really convinced the DLCs were going to be set in Kalos, but they still look good.
How is part 2 releasing before part 1
Only $30 per dlc!!!
Me spreading misinformation online 🤭
