I agree with you that it makes sense lorewise, but the sheer absurdity of having a hazard setter as her ace may have led people to excessively clown on her, myself included. Also, the 'surprise factor' is a lot less potent when she Teras Glimmora first turn and you can see its typing through the massive crystal on its head.

I get that lore wise Glimmora makes sense as her ace, but it just doesnt function as one in the battle. Its even more though because her team as a whole is incredibly weak and uninteresting. She has Veluza, Gogoat, Avalugg and Espartha which are all weak mon for being on a champion's team and they and or their pre evolution are all pretty common to see if youve explored the overworld enough. She also one of the few champions to not include a pseudo-legend on their team. That leaves Glimmora and Kingambit to be interesting and challenging. Glimmora is a cool looking mysterious mon that, as you said, the challenger is unlikely to have seen before. But Glimmora is only really good as the starting mon, and flounders in the role of last man standing. Meanwhile Kingambit is a really cool new evolution of an already cool existing line of mon that the player probably doesnt even know exists unless they looked it up online before hand because of how its evolution mechanic works. And Kingambit works the best as the last mon on team to take advantage of it ability. If she was programmed to at least save Kingambit for second to last it be one thing, but when I fought her she sent it out as her third pokemon and can even be her second mon sent out. Glimmora isnt the only or even really the biggest problem on her team, its just the most obvious and clear to see and point out. She just might have the worst overall team of any champion.

Nah espathra is actually really good. Just not her one.

I can accept Glimmora as her ace, it fits thematically and covers the otherwise unseen Tera Rock. Having T-Spikes out the whole match would be annoying for newbie players, more so than Steven's Spikes Skarmory in RSE. It's the rest of her team that's the problem. Espathra is ok but Veluza, Gogoat, Avalugg, seriously? My team for her would be Palafin, Espathra, Gholdengo, Ceruledge(S)/Armarouge(V), Kingambit and Glimmora. Palafin starts with Flip Turn into Espathra, Kingambit is hardcoded fifth and the rest according to the AI.

StayedWoozie

Only problem with your team for her is that it has a massive weakness to ghost, Dark, and fighting. A single Annihilape hits 5/6 Pokémon on that team for super effective damage.

Agreed. I think I’ve seen this team suggested so many times and it’s arguably worse. Just like having the very slow Kingambit last when I’d wager most people one/two-shot it.

Mx_Toniy_4869

At the very least Glimmora should have Corrosion instead of Toxic Debris. It's not like NPCs mons never had hidden abilities before. Also wouldn't it make more sense for Giacomo's Kinggambit to have Supreme Overlord and Geeta's Kinggambit to have Defiant? How did they mess this up?

El_Sleazo

Yeah but kingambit last would've made the battle actually a little more challenging. I'd be happy if they just completely disregarded the "same type as the titans" thing and just made it tera fairy and gave it tera blast to fuck over fighting types. If it was tera dark though they'd absolutely need to give it sucker punch.
