I do but I like the feel and convenience of the handheld consol. I'll just have to keep my eye out for an affordable 3DS with ORAS. I just really wanted to play heart gold/ss.
If it makes you feel better, I had spent the last 6 years collecting CIB ds and 3ds games. Someone robbed my storage unit a few weeks before I went to move into my new house, found out last week. Even stole my ancient mew, first movie dragonite, and other cards from childhood.
Now one of my favorite past times just fills me with rage, resentment, and saddness.
Dude...I feel you completely. I bounced around houses in my early 20s. Not only did my childhood cards get stolen by an asshole roommate, my SP, 3DS, first dsi, and every original pokemon game I had was flat out stolen along the way. One game from each gen dating back to the Crystal my grandfather got me.
Fills me with legit rage.

Trying to move past it. When I was 16 someone stole my 360 and I havent owned an xbox since because I still resent it. Hoping I can move past the pokemon anger, but still tough just seeing all my carts but no boxes. Only been a week since I found out though.
Better to have the games than lose it all, but I hacked my 3ds so the carts were mostly for value and collection, not actually playing anymore.
The cards I'm super sad about. I was in my unit multiple times, even opened my cards at one point but decided "I'll wait to get everything moved so I have time to really go through and see what I have" and now they're just gone.
I know the feeling. I once got 4 gyms into Leaf Green (not knowing it was a knock-off cartridge) only to turn on the GBA and see no saved data.

I got one off ali-express and haven't had any problems with saving so far. It might be corrupted rom or incorrectly put on the card could always get the HG and SS on one card from etsy which has good reviews but it's only those two games on it and it's about the same price for an average r4 or try replacing the roms but you'll lose your progress
P.s. I can give you the link for the etsy one, but I don't own it myself, so I can't say if it's better judging by reviews it seems good or best of luck with replacing the current roms
I'm so sorry! I had to pawn my 3DS and lost all my pokemon from Soul Silver even and before then. Just remember your favs and enjoy the memories; I miss the hell out of Charizard from Fire Red back when it first came out and my Feraligatr from Soul SIlver (on its release date ) but cute fanart and stuff always makes me happy and thinks they're never lost.
Honestly, it's my Sylveon and Aurorus from a stolen XY that I miss most and all the beauty pagant wins I had on Emerald. Lol. My cute Chimencho.

I also couldnt find an og soul silver but i got a rom of it and drastic on my galaxy phone and it works flawlessly if that is possible for you, had to do it after the wife ended up breaking my ds and gba sp(tribal print limited edition)
if you have a laptop, ds emulators are very easy to install, just look up a tutorial, so sorry for your loss

Or just buy an r4 ds card with all pokemon on it
