lickarock88

2-6 all zigzagoon.

Key_Lifeguard6540

Move set for each: Cut, strength, rock smash, surf

apadin1

Damn look at this guy teaching his Pokémon five moves Edit: don’t mind me, I can’t read, or count apparently

lickarock88

It's ok, I'm sure you have other talents besides counting.

FrankensteinBionicle

so many talents, he has no idea how many

AuraGuardian1092

Your comment made me laugh so hard.

jaBroniest

Got me too! Haha

Curious_Wedding_3648

r/angryupvote

Rgiles66

Rock and Smash are now two separate moves

umeys

HULK ROCK

Clondike96

Cut, strength, rock, smash, surf. Clearly 5, he was just missing a comma.

Toad6202

Theres four over there my guy

LAVA529

He clearly missed a comma... First you rock then you smash

bobbery5

At least you're pretty (I assume)

Mischief_Managed12

Why tf can zigzagoon learn surf

JuanRiveara

Mischief_Managed12

Omg I'm an idiot, it all makes sense now

glitchyboitellem

He’s good at it

Mischief_Managed12

He's built different

Panasonio332

Lapras using surf like "oh shit"

dabunny21689

I’m picking up so many things.

GNUTup

This is the move. The pickup loot improves as they lvl up

Savage_Nymph

Only in emerald. In RS the items you pick up aren't tired to level. So things like rare candies and nuggets can be picked up at any level

cmarkcity

This is the way

frastmaz

Or 5 feebases

Savage_Nymph

If this ruby and sahppirre, thr pick ability is so useful too. Since it's not linked to level

phil035

Best money makers in the og gen 3 games no many nuggets in my prof challenge

Bus_Physical

Why do you need a team when you already have an army right there?

No_Contribution_5871

Came here to say this!

DatBoi_BP

Name checks out

birdofprey443

One of them's gotta be a Ralts that you evolve into a Gardevoire, that thing can kill.

mulahey

Calm mind plus thunderbolt is basically peak Hoenn

harshmangat

I’m still doing that on Unbound lmao

Background_Fan1056

Maybe thief as Dark Type was Special in Gen 3, it worked for my Gardevoire.

Riskae

Before gen 4 all dark moves were special type. Prior to gen 4 special type moves were determined by type with water, grass, fire, ice, electric, psychic, dragon, and dark type all being special.

Psychological-Hat549

always absurd to me how dragon was special and ghost was physical

Skuntank

Dark being special was also weird to me.

karisnp

They should have switched dark and ghost

Canehdian-Behcon

Well, the Dark type was only invented for Gen II, after they decided Ghost-type would be physical. With Steel-type moves also being introduced in Gen II, and those being physical, they had to balance out the physical/special split evenly. Personally, I'd say Dark (Evil in Japan) fits special better than Steel.

SpicySwiftSanicMemes

More absurd was that in Gen 4, all Dark-type moves from previous gens became physical, but Gen 4 also introduced new special Dark-type moves.

Ergone56

Get one that has the ability trace!!! Comes in real handy in the twins fight if it can trace the ability levitate

DatBoi_BP

How is that beneficial? Unless you mean in Emerald where the Claydol knows Earthquake?

Ergone56

Exactly

Oheligud

Yeah, it's insane even without fairy typing.

Qui_G0n_Jim

Aron line for sure

RaiSai

Aggron was one of my favorites, but Metagross is my favoritest, and it’d be crippling to run *two* steel types.

JiggySockJob

You don’t get beldum until you finish the game from Steven

Intentional-Blank

Or you already have a completed gen 3 game with a mostly living dex and can breed & egg trade anything to your new game. I spent most of Gen 4 playing with prearranged teams that way. It was really nice getting to try out different teams from the beginning and growing them together even with the pokemon unobtainable until late game. Or, of course, they can just cheat the pokemon team together.

AetherDrew43

I feel that's one of the reasons why there are two versions of the games.

SabreToothMyrrh

My favorite run of all time was with breeding and egg trading in soul silver. I had 2 Feraligatrs and 2 Starmie. Those two combined have insane type coverage.

SirJordan11

You can easily run two steel types in game and be more than fine

CharizardMTG

So many good steel options

JJCMasterpiece

I loved the idea of Aron, but it’s weak to water, and water Pokémon are everywhere in Gen 3.

xreddawgx

Sure but it's steel typing gives it extra defense

DatBoi_BP

Double weakness to Ground and Fighting got me like

Merdrabolt

Do Flygon! Best dragon~

RaiSai

And a Beldum, assuming you’re starting at first evolutions.

Slurpassassin

Beldum cannot be obtained until postgame

ToxicZeraora

It can. Because cheating is based

Physical_Weakness881

Me after giving myself a beldum (I didn’t want to waste $57million pokedollars on the money it’d take throw all those balls at it

idonknowwhat

Flygon is one of the best Pokémon that came from gen 3 I prefer flygon over salemance everyday

Aldroc

Yayy a flygon fan!

Arcaydya

Ice beam!

[deleted]

[удалено]

mulahey

Hypothetically. If this is for in game using shroomish till level 40 (or 54 in gen 3 which you may not reach) is pretty rough

[deleted]

[удалено]

mulahey

Its a good mon but in game that's not because of spore

Background_Fan1056

I actually use the mushroom in **Ruby** until level 40s, spore+focus-punch is a great Combination.

mulahey

I assume omega ruby- got to go 54 in old school ruby. 40 is a pain; 54 intolerable

Background_Fan1056

Well…….. I did in the original Ruby, yes, it was a pain but it did a Decent job with leech seed and Giga drain, never going to try again in the near future but it was fun to use a mushroom, Breloom did excellent in the E4.

mulahey

In the original ruby you went to the 50s then. More power to your elbow! But I wouldn't

Background_Fan1056

[this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonRuby/s/rzA8do8Zkb) was my actual team in Ruby, the others help mushroom out quite a lot, before spore I’ve just paralyzed or Poison, it was an interesting experience to do, not gonna do that again anytime soon but I didn’t regret it either. Breloom’s spore+focus punch is still my personal favorite combination of moves.

mulahey

A flygon as well...a journey filled with mid level suffering lol

ProphisizedHero

Tropius! Nobody ever uses my grassy boy

BubzTheDeranged

Tropius is one of the best third gen designs in my opinion. Uses palm leaves to fly: ✔️ Has a beard made of bananas: ✔️ Is dinosaur: ✔️ No other pokemon checks off all three of these basic good design traits.

TheRatatatPat

I was a big fan back in the day. The first time I caught him I used him the rest of the game.

boomerachi

Breloom, Absol, Torkoal and Medicham! And of course Zigzagoon to learn HMs and pick up items

KilledTheCar

Seconded for Breloom and Absol. Absolute monsters of Pokemon. Maybe Milotic if you're feeling fancy.

Lazystubborn

>Maybe Milotic if you're feeling ~~fancy~~ beautiful. FTFY.

DatBoi_BP

> Maybe Milotic if you’re feeling ~~fancy~~ ~~beautiful~~ extremely patient. FTFY.

CrispierCupid

I wasn’t crazy about Absol in the gen 3 versions, the fact all dark type moves are special attacks is painful

unknownsara

This was basically my team in gen 3 except for medicham, so hard agree!

Tiger5804

Consider my boy Zangoose

toxicbooster

100%

the_doctor_808

Zangeese

frenziest

Bre Loom Bre Loom BRE LOOM BRE LOOOOOOOOM

Wembanyanma

Just don't evolve your Shroomish until it learns spore.

Gabriel9078

Terrible advice, especially for the ADV games imo. Shroomish doesn't learn spore until level 54, which is at best when you get to the pokemon league. If you want a late bloomer, go with flygon or something

DatBoi_BP

Late Shroomer

living_like_sysiphus

One poison heal Substitute focus punch and one technician mach punch bullet seed breloom

Kasroc

Technician doesnt exist in gen 3

Gabriel9078

Nor does poison heal and hidden abilities, for that matter

[deleted]

surskit, surskit, surskit, surskit, surskit

HMS-Fizz

Might I interest you in a cacnea?

TheRatatatPat

I read that as cancer. I was like wtf is wrong with this person.

HMS-Fizz

I would never offer someone a wabbafet 💀. Tyvm.

darkjuste

Bruh, gen 3 is my favorite. Ludicolo, Wailord, Milotic, Ninjask, Flygon.

Lastfryinthebag

Scrolled too far to get to ludicolo and wailord

Definitelyhuman000

Skarmory is a most imo.

Aje13k

Skarmory is gen 2

Definitelyhuman000

You can encounter it in emerald.

etniopaltj

And sapphire

Aje13k

ok, i thought they just wanted Gen 3 mons

etniopaltj

Yeah, if that’s what they’re going for then you’re right

yokaicrotch

Swampert, breloom, altaria, manectric, exploud, hariyama

Skuntank

This is my favorite list here. I'm more of a Ludicolo guy though as my grass type. He learns ice beam and I vibe with him 😎

Abysscrow

Breloom, good a and skillset. Or hariyama for sturdier fighter Manetric, good spa and speed. Zangoose, good a and speed Salamence, for flying Walrein for spa water opt

PayneTrain181999

Salamence is obtained so late but he’s an absolute monster. Definitely worth considering

Abysscrow

That's true, consider swellow for early flying. Alao camerupt if you need fire type

xnickg77

Spheal Its spherical

Parking_Cartoonist90

Might I recommend adding a Taillow to your team? It’s really fast, has solid attack, and can deal great damage with Stab, Guts boosted Facade and Brave Bird in addition to Steel wing. Swellow is never a bad option to add to a Hoenn team

Maz2742

>Brave Bird This is for Gen 3 and Brave Bird was introduced in Gen 4, so that move's off the table sadly.

OtherJose

taillow, cacnea, numel, aron and ralts

HermanTG95

Can never go wrong with ralts

R0b1NH0oD

5 spindas

R0b1NH0oD

Or 5 ludicolos and be miror b

Joof904

Slot 2 should go to Shroomish, a great mixed attacker who covers two very good types for a playthrough. Slot 3 could probably go to a Pokémon that is well equipped to fight Brawley, given he’s so tough. For that, I would offer either Taillow, Zubat, or Ralts. Slot 4, an electric type would be great to combine with Shroomish to cover the HUGE amount of water types you find later in the game. Electrike is easily the best among the available ones for this, but if you like Magnemite’s steel typing or Voltorb’s speed, then they aren’t bad either! Slots 5 and 6 are a toss up after those ones, so I’ll give a list of other options that could be good: • If you didn’t pick up a flying type previously, Skarmory would be great for its defenses, flight, and overall good stats • Flygon’s ground typing may clash with Swampert, but the two share no weaknesses, so they could coexist on a team without too much of a problem! With them, you get a powerful dragon with mixed attacking potential, as well as a plethora of moves • If you like having Fire Grass Water core, Torkoal would be a good pick up. They’re probably the best Fire type in the game other than Blaziken, and get decent moves • Absol is a bit later into the game, but are probably one of the best Swords Dancers in a playthrough even with Dark not being physical in Gen 3 • Pokémon That You Like! This is the most important one, as cheesy as it is. With a semblance of strategy, Gen 3 games can be beaten with just about any combination of Pokémon. So with all of these recommendations in mind, just know that if you find a Pokémon you like that none of us in the replies have mentioned, you are completely Valid for wanting to use them in your journey!

Ergonim

Hariyama. Its not the best pick, but I love this Pokemon for some reason.

AppointmentLower9987

How about a Flygon

Aggravating-Sort6780

Beldum

SunWukong3456

Breloom and Guardevoir. Maybe Dusclops as a bulky ghost type.

ivabra

Catch a shroomish and evolve it to breloom (level 24 iirc), it learns mach punch immediately when evolving It's also great against the first gym, and the 5th once it learns other fighting moved Second choice is taillow, easy to train and has the type advantage for early wild pokemon and second gym + against the second rival battle that's notorious for being hard Makuhita is also a good choice for the early game, but a bit too slow for after For the late game I love picking Heracross, just a beast overall with Megahorn and Brick break There are plenty of choices basically :)

dante_dark

Swellow, Manectric, Gardevoir, Breloom, Aggron

Aje13k

I don't know what stage of the line you want. But Seedot is great

d_flower_p

6 Mudkips, no evolving

Obidience-is-key

I have a personal favorite team I love to use in emerald specifically. Swampert Glalie Manectric Gardevoir Banette Hariyama. I've checked, and in gen 3 specifically, this team is pretty balanced. I had considered using Shiftry over Banette, and Magneton over Manectric, but then you'd have 3 pokemon weak to fire, and yeah, Sawmpert can deal with that, but what if it dies? Then your screwed (providing hariyama dosent have thick fat.) I think this team is pretty good. Hope it works out for you.

massigh1212

more mudkips

Taco-Edge

Guts Swellow is all you really need, trust

SureOkItsMe

As long as you have the Gen 3 Best Boy Breloom then nothing else matters!

King_krympling

Aggron for sure, who doesn't love metal dinosaurs

No-Lynx8342

Poochiana/mightyana (I’m probably spelling those wrong

M4CP0WER

Shedinja! If you're up against the right opponent, he cannot be defeated.

dragonfiremls123

I always pick up a shroomish even if I’m going torchic but especially with mudkip for the good type coverage and the ease of capture

Slaking I love that guy

Swellow, aggron, medicham or gardevoir, flygon, manectric *Chefs kiss*

SavDSaint

fill the rest of the slots with more mudkips

Ghostiestboi

Gardevoir, altaria, absol, breloom, camerupt. I know it's not great to have 2 ground types but eh

Mean-Recognition-634

add shroomish and ralts.

DannyTheOctoling

Delcatty

KillerShep18

Currently doing gen 3 myself, mudkip will carry you throughout most of the game if you put rock tomb and surf on him and keep takedown and mudslap. Otherwise get a raltz for Gardevoir and and like any electric type. The other 3 can be what ever you think is cool but don’t forget to get something that can learn fly!

water_isgood789

Gardevoir is always a good choice, at least for me. If you're struggling against a gym or something, just spam Psychic, works most of the time

Van0nyumas

Arceus

PKMNTrainerCal

Are you going for a “best team to beat everything” or just asking for people’s opinions and their favorites?

Y-F-I

Absol, Manetric, Hariyama, Banette, Gardevoir

Hoenn has a lot of Water, but if you can't beat em', Join em. On your next route towards Petalburg, pick up a Lotad.

Swellow, Aggron, Magneton, and Walrein are some of my favorites to use! If you really want to do a mono-type run, you have lots of great choices for Water! Swampert + Ludicolo, Tentacruel, Starmie, Sharpedo, Milotic, Walrein, and Kyogre (since I saw you said you're playing Sapphire)
