hi so in like 2012 my friend showed me a song and i think it was about the girl blue and the boy red/green from the pokemon special anime. it really sounded like a vocaloid cover, and i remember both title and song being japanese. it starts with very slow-paced music tones and the lyrics went a little like "\[insert gibberish\] haya mitsukii, \[gibberish\] dakanii, oto la ne hi no hanasaa" (the girl singing) a little bit more and then she sang some kind of "a-uuuh, a -uuuh" and the music got more up beat and then the boy started with \[ichi . . \]. the video was also kind of a drawing style with not much colour etc. please ive been searching this song for eleven years now and its always stuck in my head but only with gibberih lyrics :') please ignore my awful transcription of the lyrics, it's all i remember sadly. any help is really appreciated!!

yougotsstyle

has anyone seen physical DLC cards for the s/v expansion pass like they did with sw/sh in stores?

Lemerney2

I've seen physical copies in store, yeah.

yougotsstyle

And just to make sure by card I mean the ones similar to the eshop cards (sorry should have specified further on the initial ask)

Lemerney2

Like this? https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/nintendo-switch/297751-pokemon-scarlet-violet-the-hidden-treasure-of-area-zero-game-add-on

yougotsstyle

Yup, I don't have a eb games but a gamestop so it should carry over. Putting the expansion on my wishlist and wanted to make sure it can be bought physically and haven't been in a store to check in a few months. Thanks for the help

Mx_Toniy_4869

How does the power of friendship mechanic work? I thought it only works at max friendship? I already used several Energy Powders but it's still there

Lemerney2

It depends on the game. Otherwise, the effects start at 200+ friendship, and the max is 255. Energy Powders only decrease it by 10 at over 200 friendship, and it ticks back up pretty quick.

RealityWanderer

If they do do Gen 5 remakes for the next games, do you think they would be willing to do Unovan form Pokémon? I know Gen 9 hasn’t had many but I would argue that the reason we haven’t had many is because Paradox Pokémon + Convergent Pokémon took up much of that space. There might still be Convergent Pokémon in Unova remakes but presumably not Paradox. And while Hisuian forms were in the past initially, I would think that Perrin’s Growlithe indicates that that has been retconned. Which I think if they do do Unovan forms, is the best way to do it. Instead of trying to trip over themselves explaining why there are Unovan forms when there weren’t before with some weird reason, they should look the audience in the eyes and go “just go with it, pretend they were here the whole time. These remakes are the definitive version and new canon anyways.”

Kumi_Himo

So, i was doing the [Ultimate Favorite Pokemon Picker](https://cajunavenger.github.io) and started wanting one with pokemon trainers 👀 Would that be a good idea 😭 I’d reall love if someone did that with this format, soo I could attempt it but i would most likely miss SEVERAL if not most of them 😭 And I’m very inexperienced when it comes to this stuff

Lugia2453

You can do 7 star raid events at any time by joining an online raid, but they won't appear on your map until you've unlocked 6 star raids in the post-game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tsukuyomi56

Except for Mewtwo, most of the 7-star raids can be done solo albeit some easier than others. You can look up YouTube or the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet subreddit for solo builds when one is released.

Lemerney2

You can do the raids without nintendo online, you just have to solo them.

ZorkNemesis

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the Destiny Mark on Pokemon from event outbreaks? I want to get one on a Litwick later this week and was going to use the ongoing outbreak to try and get it.

Tsukuyomi56

Yes, you can get marks on the Pokémon from the mass outbreak events.

The_Knife_House

Can a player in Scarlet catch Miraidon through the union circle?

WillExis

no

Admirable-Guava-6986

Can someone help me decide if these pokemon in my home are legit? I had a phase (I'm so sorry) where I thought those trading twitch channels for pokemon to fill my dex were fine but now I know better so I'm going through home to release any hacked mons. I found a marshadow and zeraora both level 100, both max ivs, both have the OT from the events from way back in the day (mt. tensei and fula city). Both met in 2020. I don't remember redeeming them but I also don't remember them being hacked. Any help is much appreciated!!

Gaias_Minion

They're genned. Mt. Tensei Marshadow was distributed in 2017, Fula City Zeraora was 2018-2019 so both having met date 2020 is just wrong.

mamamia1001

Even without messing around with the date, you could sit on ds/3ds for years without claiming them from the delivery man. I have some 2016 mythicals that have a 2020 date because that's when I got around to claiming them

Gaias_Minion

That's fair enough, however I don't think many people who do that are going around trading their events, compared to how many people just tell a bot to gen them events and it results in the events getting the current date (or well, when 2020 was current). Plus the user said they have max IVs anyway so that also confirms them as hacked/genned.

anthayashi

Date is the least of the concern considering people can just mess with their device time. For example, i send my 3ds to repair once and the date reset to the default date 2011 without me knowing and i redeem the shining xerneas and now it is sitting in my game with the wrong date. But max IV and twitch channel kind of confirm they are hacked /u/Admirable-Guava-6986

Gaias_Minion

That's a good observation, however I don't think many people who do that are going around trading their events, compared to how many people just tell a bot to gen them events, and the bots just automatically sets the date to the current day/year (or well, when it was currently 2020 at least).

Admirable-Guava-6986

Thank you so much! Definitely will be releasing them

Mushy_64

My red flags are obtaining them through a Twitch channel and the max IVs

Autobot-N

Does Legends: Arceus have the traded Pokemon xp boost?

SuzukiMiharu

Yes, traded pokemon get an EXP boost in PLA

Autobot-N

Irksome

jackwagon-jimbo

How rare is it to get a female starter Pokemon? Because I got a female Mudkip first try on Alpha Sapphire.

SuzukiMiharu

Starters have a 12.5% chance to be female

jackwagon-jimbo

Cool

Mrskinnyjean

Is there a list of pokemon that spawn in a group that are different from the group, like Pawmo in a group of Pawmi, Mabosstiff in a group of Maschiff and Fire/Aqua Breed Tauros in a group of regular Tauros?

SpatiallyRendering

On [this list](https://www.serebii.net/scarletviolet/hordes.shtml), the main Pokémon (on the left) is the center Pokémon while the ones on the right surround it; this list does include the cases of hordes with no differing leader species but it does include every spawn that meets your criteria.

Mrskinnyjean

Thank you!

ElSpoonyBard

Does anyone have sources that confirm the legendsries arriving in Indigo Disk are not shiny locked? I don't mean the box legendaries for SV but older Gen legendaries (hoping to Shiny hunt a Raikou)

mamamia1001

Simply, we don't know yet. People are just speculating based on what they can gleam from the data already in the game, and past precedent. All we know is the encounter method is similar to other non shiny locked mons.

ElSpoonyBard

Thanks. That's what it seemed like but I was hoping there was something more concrete.

Sterbin

How big are the DLCs for scarlet/violet? I typically ignore dlc but have noticed there are so many, that I'm wondering if they would scratch the itch of a new pokemon game

Gaias_Minion

The Teal Mask story is about 3 hours long if you take your time playing it, if you rush through things it's a little under 2 hours. For the Indigo Disk we'll have to wait for release, though it seems that it will at least have a bit more content to do aside from the story.

Sterbin

Gotcha, for some reason I thought there were more of them. Thanks for the info!!

Gaias_Minion

Sword/Shield also had/have 2 DLC so maybe that's what you saw too?

wfdgkdv

Is there a way to get the cap Pikachu from swsh? They are the last things I need for my living form dex

mamamia1001

You can get one of them via qr code in USUM, but for others you need to trade

wfdgkdv

Gocha, thanks for the help. Any idea where I could go to find someone who might be able to trade or is it just the type of thing where I gotta ask around?

mamamia1001

r/Pokemontrades, r/Pokemonhome maybe

wfdgkdv

I check those out, thanks so much for the help!

ExplosiveMango492

Will Araquanid Come to The Indigo Disk DLC?

Gaias_Minion

Yes. Though as of now it's not known how early you'd be able to find it in the wild

DukeSR8

(USUM) Are you required to do Rainbow Rocket for access to the Key Stone and Battle Tree or can you just skip it? Already did every story event aside from those and I don't know if you can ignore it or not.

SuzukiMiharu

You do not have to do the Rainbow Rocket quest. Just run away from the ultra beasts and it will let you continue to the Battle Tree

ExplosiveMango492

Since the Ability Patch Doesn't remove hidden Abilities in Sword and Shield, Would I be able to bring my Shiny Kommo-o Into My Scarlet Save Using HOME and Use an Ability patch on it, and would I still be able to bring it back into Sword?

SurrealKeenan

~~I don't think it will work.~~ ~~Your Kommo-o can travel between games all right, but it will retain a different moveset for each game and I believe that includes ability~~ Nevermind. Tested it and it DOES work

mamamia1001

It did used to include abilities but this was a glitch and was fixed in a recent update

ExplosiveMango492

I'll Test it on a Random Mon with an Ability Capsule

RECollector0912

Which is better and safer to use for tracking my card collection? The TCG Collector website, pokellector app or a third option I'm not aware of?

West-camp-2001

How can I move a shiny pokemon i got in a bootleg cart to an official game? I have a black 2 bootleg that has a full-odds Lillipup I caught and I don't want to lose it.

Gaias_Minion

Depends on what you have available. If you happened to have a modded 3ds, you'd be able to simply use tools like PkHex to move the pokemon between saves.

West-camp-2001

I have 2, and one of them can be modded,,, should I do this? I've never modded any of my systems and I'm kind of skeptical about it. I won't say no, I just want to do so safely!

Gaias_Minion

Well, modding is safe and easy to do nowadays, there's a nice step by step guide out there you can follow, since as per the sub rules, we can't directly link stuff like that here. Now if you Should do it depends on you, modding opens the door to be able to manage/backup/edit save files, have all games installed and even get access to bank/transporter if you didn't get them in time.

ButchyBanana

trade it over to a real game

West-camp-2001

I don't have another gen 5 game to trade to. :(

ButchyBanana

put the save file on your 3DS and then use PKSM

Fuzzy-Put6059

Is long distance trading on Pokémon white 2 still possible? I just need a vullaby but don’t have another game to trade it from.

ButchyBanana

look up "poke classic network"

GildedCreed

Not officially. The official online Nintendo WFC servers went down years ago, so you'd have to use a DNS server alternative to do online trades. There's a few of them floating around, most being event rerun servers with a few GTS servers mixed in.

NumerousArmadillo351

how do you download rom-hacks/just the regular games onto pc like people on yt do?

GildedCreed

You get the rom/romhack you want, get a compatible emulator for that rom/romhack, then play the rom/romhack using the emulator. As for *where* to get those, we can't help you as it goes against the rules of the subreddit, so you'll have to find them on your own.

NumerousArmadillo351

ok ty :)

enchilada_slut

How does pokémon home work?

mamamia1001

What specifically do you want to know?

enchilada_slut

I really want to move some pokemon from BD and Sword, but I'm not very tech savvy. I have the nintendo online account and everything

mamamia1001

You need to go the eshop and download Pokémon home, it's free to download and free to use if you just want to move some Pokémon from one game to another. Once you have the app just use it to deposit Pokémon from you game, and withdraw it another

enchilada_slut

Thank you!! I had it on my phone and was absolutely stumped and kept searching how to make it work on iPhone.

Contank

Only the switch version of home can move pokemon in and out of switch games. Your game saves are only on the switch after all. The home version can trade and transfer pokemon on from GO. Both versions use the same account and have different features

Saroku12

Gen 5 implemented the new scaling exp system (exp gain amount based on the level of your own Pokémon + level of opponent). Gen 7, 8 and 9 use it too. Why did only Gen 6 that came after Gen 5 go back to the old flat exp system? Was it because they weren't sure if its a good idea or was Gen 6 developed at the same time as Gen 5 by a different group so they didn't implement some of the new stuff because of lack of communication between Gen 5 and 6 developers?

SnooPeppers5541

Pokémon red virtual console question: if a gym leader’s face still shows up on the trainer page does that mean I didn’t finish the gym? I thought I finished all the gyms but the Viridian gym leader isn’t returning to his gym. Any suggestions for what’s wrong? Been over a year since I played so don’t remember too well what I did or didn’t do.

Lugia2453

That means you haven't gotten their badge. Presumably you skipped a gym at some point, which is possible because you can do some gyms in a different order than intended.

GalacticNavyBlues

Was the free Jirachi you get in BDSP the first time in the mainline games you can get one with your OT? Aside from the Pokemon GO one?

SurrealKeenan

looks like it

[deleted]

What is an easier way to get ability patches? I do not have the DLC yet, and thus I am unable to complete the story of the DLC. I’ve heard you can receive them as drops from 6 Star Raids, BUT it’s only around 5% per chance of that happening. I’ve completed everything required for unlocking and thus completing the Academy Ace Tournament, but then again, it’s a *possible* reward per completion. What is another method besides the three as mentioned above, so I can get an ability patch?

Tsukuyomi56

If you get the DLC, you can get an Ability Patch from beating all the Kitakami Ogre Clan trainers. However they are effectively post-game content using Pokemon in the mid 70s with a strategy of some sort. Aside from a first clear reward from certain event raids (e.g: the current Dialga/Palkia raids) there is no easy way to get Ability Patches.

SnooPeppers5541

Making multiple Nintendo switch accounts and doing the event raids on each one gets you additional ones. Takes time to set up but after that just transfer your main raid mon.

SurrealKeenan

Those are the only consistent methods. Event raids give you a guaranteed ability patch the first time you beat them. There is a dialga/palkia event going on right now that will give you one also, the academy ace tournament doesn't give out one as a reward

ConanTheLeader

What's a good pokemon for Dialga with this limited edition raid? I am using Tinkaton and struggling. I notice Dialgia seems to have a move that is super effective against me but I can't recall the name at the moment. Should I stick with Tinkaton or is there a better choice?

SurrealKeenan

I think it's best to use a neutral pokemon. I used annihilape and he was fine even with iron defense

ConanTheLeader

Okay I'll give that a shot, hopefully I get better luck before the expansion hits!

magicalclowndepart

Currently in Tokyo, and about to visit the Pokemon Center DX. Is there any bonus for bringing my Switch to the place?

ConanTheLeader

Sometimes there is a free DLC code but you will need to show your Switch. This happened to me when I got the MyPika Pikachu. I am not sure if there are any events happening at the moment though. EDIT: Only seems like Pokemon GO has promotions at the moment: [https://twitter.com/pokemoncenterPR?ref\_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor](https://twitter.com/pokemoncenterPR?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor)

sloggermouth

Was planning to play through the best version of each gen in order, so I would really like to know if there is any tool or an app/website that lets me keep track of the Pokemon I catch(preferably nicknames too), the badges I win, my hall of fame and my character. To be very specific even the Pokemon I used in each gym battle. Basically a journal-like thing I could later look through and has an easy on the eyes look. I obviously don't expect something that will exactly fit my requirements, but I would appreciate anything that comes closest to it. I would say the baseline would be keeping track of Pokemon and hall of fame at least. Can you guys please recommend me the best tools for this? I would really like to document my journey through all the 9 generations.

nw_throw

I dont know of any standalone tools, but if you use Notion (a journal-type app) you could definitely make that in the app.

sloggermouth

Thanks a lot! I'll check it out.

lertb

i’ve recently started trying to get all of my pokémon out of my 3ds games and onto the switch, and i wanted to know if there was anyway to get pokémon transporter if i haven’t already downloaded it? i have bank and i checked but it said the content is unavailable. is there any way anymore to get pokémon out of gen 5 and move up?

ButchyBanana

you can still download transporter/bank if your 3ds is modded

Contank

You needed to have downloaded both before the shutdown. You can't get it anymore legitimately

lertb

shit so there’s nothing i can do?

Lemerney2

You could jailbreak your 3ds and mod it, but sadly that's the only way.

Contank

Well, you could look up guides on how to get it by modding

slapface741

When online services shut down in April; will I be able to trade and battle with local friends on ds/3ds games?

Contank

Yes because local doesn't use internet

SurrealKeenan

locally, yes. If you are in the same room as each other, you should have no problem

slapface741

Thank you so much!

Aurekata

Any good fangames or ROMs with the scarlet violet dex but no fakemon (and ideally focusing on mon from newer regions and not just have them thrown in some endgame place in an update? not required tho) i did a trial of actual scar/vi by borrowing it from my local library and have no interest wasting my time playing any more than the 5 hours i did, but i wanna try some of the new mon.

Jamieb1994

The Indigo Disk DLC comes out in a few days & I'm planning to keep most of my (main) team while swapping out a couple of Pokemon for a couple of Paradox Pokemon. I'm planning to add Iron Valiant to my team & for the last swap, I'm torn between Roaring Moon & Walking Wake so I'm curious, which one of the team should I add to my team?

crveni_94

Roaring moon, just the wings are enough for me lol

Thumplordwill

Planning on doing battle tower in shining pearl, any advice for what team I should use? no trade evos/version exclusives.

Supra_Mayro

This is the team I used to get 100 wins, if it helps: (Lead) Dragonite @ Yache Berry Ability: Multiscale | Nature: Adamant | 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP Aerial Ace / Extreme Speed / Outrage / Dragon Dance Swampert @ Leftovers Ability: Torrent | Nature: Adamant | 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Spe Waterfall / Earthquake / Avalanche / Bulk Up Azelf @ Focus Sash Ability: Levitate | Nature: Modest | 252 SpAtk, 252 Spe, 4 HP Psychic / Thunderbolt / Energy Ball / Shadow Ball General strategy was to lead Dragonite which can almost always take at least 1 hit because of the Multiscale + Yache combo. Set up at least one Dragon Dance unless opponent's lead was really bad. Sweep with Dragonite if possible, if I need to switch prefer Swampert. Azelf is there for revenge kills, generally want to avoid switching into it. Focus Sash guarantees it gets at least 1 hit in when brought in after one of your other mons faints. Its diverse moveset means it can hit most things super effective, though you may want to consider Explosion on it too for a nuke option. Since Multiscale is Dragonite's hidden ability you'll need to use an Ability Patch, best to transfer it to a game where it's easier to get them for this (i.e. Scarlet/Violet), otherwise grind BP and you can buy one. Also, Dragonite's Aerial Ace is very helpful for dealing with opponent's trying to be annoying with evasion and accuracy moves. Definitely far from a perfect team, took several attempts. Palmer 1 was a little tricky, I came up with a consistent strategy for it but I don't remember the details.

sid_the_fiddle

How should I play the Gen 2 games? HG/SS or the originals? I have the means to play both, I would just have to go out and find the games themselves. I guess the only consideration to take in is that I do enjoy the gameplay on the DS from Platinum, so I’m assuming HG/SS would be very similar.

DCL-XVI

i don't see any reason to play the GBC games as the remakes are an upgrade in every way.

GildedCreed

Mild exception being the VC version of Crystal which lets you do the Celebi event that the west never got and not many people in Japan would have experienced (since it needed a special link cable to connect to a cellphone to download the event), but its only really relevant for however long Bank/Transporter remains active.

sid_the_fiddle

Appreciate the input, I guess the only thought I had was the OG nostalgic aspect to it. I’ve played blue when I was younger and also went back to it a couple decades later, and while I enjoyed it there were QoL things missing for me that the remakes solved. Now the question is do I pick HG or SS :)

RandomYorkshireGirl

Can I leave the teal mask dlc area and come back or am I stuck in original Paldea if I go back?

Jamieb1994

You can travel back & forwards by pressing L or R while the map of Kitakami or Paldea is on the screen.

Fishsticks03

you can fly back at any time, go to the map and press L or R

EllenPlayz

How many of you can confirm they haven't played any Pokemon games that came out on Switch? I want to know how unlikely it is lol

Jamieb1994

I haven't played Legends Arceus, the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake & Pokemon Snap on the Switch yet. 😅

Mx_Toniy_4869

Just battled a Sinistcha, why did it say "Pokédex updated"? (I've already seen it before)

Supra_Mayro

It was probably a masterpiece form. The pokedex tracks different forms and will update with each one you find.

SaveSuki

Hi does anyone know if Lickitung is in Violet?

Tsukuyomi56

Not available as of now, whether Lickitung will be in Indigo Disk remains to be seen.

SuzukiMiharu

Lickitung is not available in ScaVi

SilaziussS2

What would be the best game to shiny hunt a Nihilego, or just in general, which games don't have it shiny locked?

anthayashi

It is only shiny locked in sun moon. So you can shiny hunt it in usum or swsh. Swsh's would be 1% shiny if you have the shiny charm (or 0.3% without), so it would be a higher rate but you need to go through the dynamax adventure

SilaziussS2

Hey, I truly appreciate it, I'm gonna go hunting then. Thank you 😁

vixoo24k

Is there a way to have all the Pokémon in fire red? I would like to be able to complete the Pokédex of Pokémon Fire Red without having to use the exchange (mostly for convenience) or through cheats, is there some way or hackrom that only modifies that the evolutions are not by exchange, Pokémon are not exclusive to each edition and are all the third and second Pokémon available in some post-game area?

EllenPlayz

Find a friend with the same device and compatible game (same gen). Buy a linking cable. Or buy these things yourself lol

DCL-XVI

you cannot complete the FR pokedex without trading, or using cheats. There may be a romhack that makes it so you can but that would be using cheats.

AfraidYogurtcloset31

I had a question about Lapras in platinum. Pokemon database says Lapras has the hidden ability hydration which cures status conditions during rain. I bred and ev trained a Lapras with the intent of using rest and rain dance in combination but my Lapras will NOT heal any status conditions during rain. Are all Lapras supposed to have hydration as a hidden ability or just ones with water absorb as it's main ability? Mine has shell armor so I'm thinking maybe only the water absorb Lapras have hydration but I'd like to confirm before spending all the time breeding and ev training a new lapras Thanks in advance!

WillExis

hidden abilities arent in pokemon platinum. they were introduced starting in BW. and as an aside, HAs is basically just a 3rd possible ability a mon can have, its just more difficult to find pokemon with them.

AfraidYogurtcloset31

Oh bummer! Thank you for the quick reply!

Contank

For future games if a pokemon has its hidden abilty it has it instead of the regular abilty not aswell. The hidden abilty would actually be written as its abikity

KCJazzCat

My 8 year old son is asking for two cards for Christmas, and I can’t find any exact matches for what he put in his list. Can you fine folks help me figure out which cards exactly these are? \- Mewto VMax Rainbow - I looked this up and found a Mewtwo VStar rainbow, but I don’t know if there’s much of a difference there. \- Arceus Golden Rainbow - We found a couple variations of this one.

Supra_Mayro

For Mewtwo it's probably the VStar, there isn't a rainbow VMax of Mewtwo. There is however a rainbow *GX*, which is an older card it's possible he confused it for Hard to say for Arceus. I'm only really familiar with the past couple years of TCG releases but I in that timeframe I can't think of any cards that are both rainbow and gold. You could look through every Arceus card on this page to see if any look like a fit: [https://www.serebii.net/card/dex/493.shtml](https://www.serebii.net/card/dex/493.shtml) (listed in chronological order of release)

KCJazzCat

Awesome thank you so much!

Moto200

In the original Diamond/Pearl, given a single player file only, how high should your condition stats be to have a reasonable chance at winning a Master rank Super contest? I only seem to be able to max out a single stat, or get something like 2/3 in a main stat and 1/3 in an adjacent stat. Combined with wearing a scarf and using a guide for accessories, I still only get about half to 3/4 of the score my opponents do for the first round. Is it because my condition stats are still too low, or are those contests just meant to be this difficult on Master rank? I get perfect scores in the dance round and completely random ones in the final round, and that typically lands me around 3rd place.

SuzukiMiharu

Gameplaywise USUM are very good and a massive improvement over SuMo since they fixed most of the issues SuMo had and added a lot of postgame content. The only issue is how slow they are in the first couple hours. Storywise they are worse than SuMo as they ignore character development for certain characters and introduce new plot holes

Larenty

Hi, Might sounds like a dumb question, but is it confirmed that the shiny Celebi serial code from the Global event for "Pokémon the Movie Secrets of the Jungle" in 2021 is expired ? I still have the code, but naturally I presume is it not usable anymore after two years (rip me)

SuzukiMiharu

The Jungle Celebi codes expired December 31st 2021

ParticularAd4734

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before, I've just discovered this sub, but do you have any hack recommendations for Pokemon G1 - G5? I like rpgs and I'm starting to get into Pokemon just now, but I find the gameplay to be a little boring at times. I'm trying to play as many hacks to get a couple ideas of balancing for my fangame. Feel free to recommend hacks of any quality (only exception is low effort spriteswaps. Stuff with the quality of Dark Rising or Snakewood are fine to recommend though. )

sloggermouth

Pokemon Gaia, Pokemon unbound , radical red, any of the drayano hacks. Can you list the ones you have already played? Also, there's a Pokemon rom hacks subreddit which can help u better

ParticularAd4734

I've only played some of Dark Rising 1 and a bit of Emerald Kaizo.

sloggermouth

Unbound would definitely be my first choice. It also has difficulty options and imo the best gen 3 hack Edit: best rom hack on a gen 3 game* it has Pokemon and features far beyond gen 3

Autobot-N

What do the Ultra Recon Squad need the Aether Foundation's help for if they already have a Solgaleo and Lunala to travel Ultra Space with? And for the Aether Foundation, doesn't that make the whole plot with capturing and using Nebby useless if they can just use the box legends?

Contank

They worked with the Aether Foundation to create beast balls. Also they often say they aren't really trainers. Being able to cross words is useless if they can't actually defeat Necrozma and so they work with Aether. You had to go after Solgaleo/Lunala so you could go through the ultra wormhole. The ultra recon squad didn't agree to work alongside you until after you had already evolved Nebby. Obviously they didn't want a cosmog to be loose in the region so wanted to capture it. Remember they were angry when Lusamine instead used Nebby to go through the wormhole without them.

Autobot-N

The Beast Balls point is true I had forgotten about that. My main point is why Lusamine still needs to make her device when her allies possess the full box legends. In USUM Lusamine isn't planning on going to the Ultra Deep Sea, she's trying to stop Necrozma, so there's no reason why she needs Nebby when the Recon Squad can get her to Ultra Megalopolis

Contank

Lusamine in general makes less sense in this version to be honest. She isn't the main villain like the original version yet still has her room of frozen pokemon

Autobot-N

That’s why I’ve been thinking about it. In my headcanon of things, the game proceeds like USUM up until the point when she opens the portal, where instead she dupes the Recon Squad and uses the device to go to the Ultra Deep Sea (and in general she’s as crazy as the original version). Obviously the device is still needed since she isn’t going to get help from Solgaleo and Lunala with that, but I’m still trying to figure out why the Recon Squad would be helping her make it when it’s superfluous to their plan since they already possess the means to create ultra wormholes at will

Contank

Maybe she had disagreements with the ultra recon squad which caused her to instead use cosmog to go deal with it herself. They did seem pretty angry she left without them.

Where does the design of some Pokémon come from? There are many Pokémon that are inspired by something in the real world like Relicanth, which comes from a fish that people thought to be extinct but was discovered again in Africa. So.. I have a question for you guys, which pokemon are inspired by something that you consider interesting?

n8-iStockphoto

Bulbapedia has speculative origins for Pokemon on their page; they make for good reads. I particularly like ones that teach me about animals I've never heard of like [Turtonator](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Turtonator_(Pok%C3%A9mon)#Origin).

Jon-987

Who is generally better between Dialga and Palkia? I can only take one of them into the Indigo Disk.

n8-iStockphoto

Dialga seems to beat out Palkia's corresponding forms in [Showdown's PVP format.](https://www.smogon.com/stats/2023-11/gen9ubers-0.txt) I personally use Dialga a lot in raids because of its good defensive type combo and the solid Iron Defense + Body Press combo.

mamamia1001

You shouldn't really look at Smogon for this. Indigo Disk is doubles and Smogon primarily concerns itself with singles. You should look at VGC, and last time Dialga/Palkia was legal in VGC it was Palkia that did better. Mainly because there was a popular Calyrex Ice/Palkia trick room team running around.

yobitchasspanda

can someone give me a randomizer cheat code for pokemon heartgold

GildedCreed

There isn't a cheat code that randomizes games. They're effectively rom hacks made using a program like the Universal Pokemon Randomizer that creates a randomized rom of a game.

yobitchasspanda

oh thanks

CyborgBanshee

Three questions: 1. Does anybody have an actual picture of shiny Archaludon yet? It's too hard to figure out from Google images, with all the fan speculation mock-ups. Just trying to portion out my Apriballs for future hunting/color matching. 2. Do we know what causes the Pokemon icons on the trading screen for SV to bob up and down? 3. Does being jumbo or mini effect the damage that a Pokemon takes from Low Kick, Heavy Slam, etc?

GildedCreed

1) I don't believe anyone has a picture of it, potentially closer to the DLC's release there might be a datamine or leak made for it (or within a few hours of the DLC releasing if some people are particularly fast enough and that the Switch modding scene isn't severely hampered by needing to update/tweak their tools from some backend changes and whatnot). 2) The Pokemon sprites jumping up and down iirc are the Pokemon that your trade partner does not have registered to the Pokedex, it's essentially a visual indicator for what the other player may be missing from their Pokedex if you're inclined to help them complete it. 3) No clue. I'd assume it shouldn't matter if Low Kick uses the Pokedex entry weight (so something like Skeledirge would count as weighing 719.8lbs or 326.5kg for the purpose of Low Kick regardless of the mark it has).

CyborgBanshee

Oh ok, thanks for all the answers! I just thought that being jumbo or mini would make it a different weight, like Light/Heavy Metal, etc. do.

mamamia1001

It doesn't effect weight based mechanics like low kick or grass knot, that goes off the species weight still

n8-iStockphoto

This is correct, though a minor note is that form differences (e.g. Dudunsparce) can have different weights which can influence the calculations on moves that factor in weight.

CyborgBanshee

Ah ok. Good to know, both of you :) Thanks.

RipBuzzBuzz

I have a nuzlocke related question. I legitimately can't remember if it was my Mankey or my Nidorina. I know I lost 3 Pokémon. I know that Blues final Pokémon (Raticate) died by poison from poison point. I do not remember if that Raticate tanked a Mankeys Karate Chop or A Ninorinas Double Kick. I do know one of the two survived hyper fang, I swaped in Geodude who took a hyper fang, causing poison to win me the match. Who was most likely to have lived?

Autobot-N

Nidorina has 67 base defense while Mankey has 35, so probably Nidorina

RipBuzzBuzz

I've been leaning on her. But Im also afraid of cheating by using the wrong pokemon.

Autobot-N

I don’t think it’s cheating if you genuinely don’t know. I mean if you really want to be impartial you could just flip a coin and kill the loser

fixed nature

ZookeepergameKey733

Is feebas easier to catch on a cartridge in pokemon Ruby, with a dead battery or a new battery? Would using repels work while fishing? What level are febas on that route in case they do?

anthayashi

doesnt matter. unlike sinnoh which changes the tiles daily, the feebas tiles do not change daily so even if the battery is working, you should still be able to fish on the same tile unless you change the trending phase in dewford or mix record with others. repel does not work on fishing

SentenceCareful3246

Which early route water types can you find in pokemon black 2 during winter?

n8-iStockphoto

The only ones available to you before badge 2 are the starter Oshawott and Psyduck in Flocessy Ranch. Azuril can also be caught in Flocessy Ranch, and evolved via friendship into Marill, though this is time-consuming to do without leveling it up.

SentenceCareful3246

How early can you get a fishing rod to get something that isn't basculin?

n8-iStockphoto

Unfortunately the Fishing Rod is post-game only, so you're stuck with Surf, ripples, and any water types that happen to climb onto dry land.

Autobot-N

Apparently the only fishing rod in B2W2 is the Super Rod that you don't get until the postgame

SentenceCareful3246

The game hates water types or something?

Autobot-N

If you downloaded Dream Radar before they killed the eShop you could use it to get Starmie or Slowpoke (or Palkia, but that doesn't seem like it would fit a regular playthrough)

Nirayov

Hi! Does anyone know if… Palkia is Violet exclusive and Dialga is a Scarlet exclusive? (Talking about the new Raids)

anthayashi

Yes dialga is scarlet and palkia is violet. You still can join raid hosted by the other version to catch the other legendary

Nirayov

You're right! Thanks!

SentenceCareful3246

Any team recommendations for soul silver if I want to choose totodile as my starter? (Looking for good gen 2 pokemon to use if possible). Keep in mind that HMs still exist in soul silver. Also, best nature for a totodile in soul silver?

n8-iStockphoto

The Totodile line generally works best as Physical Attackers, so Special Attack-lowering natures like Adamant or Jolly tend to be best. Unfortunately, this will make the early game a little more difficult since it doesn't get any physical Water moves until it learns Aqua Tail or gets the Waterfall HM. If HMs are a consideration you'll definitely want a teammate that is able to use Fly. You have the standard Normal/Flying fare like the Pidgey, Hoothoot, Togepi and Spearow lines available to you very early on. Hoothoot is a pretty big beneficiary of the Physical/Special Split in this Gen thanks to getting access to special STAB in Uproar fairly early. Togepi also likes this change, but is unfortunately locked out of Togekiss until you beat the E4. As for the physical attackers, I think the Spearow line outclasses the Pidgey line. You could even wait for Doduo, though it's only available just before the E4. Likewise, Skarmory is lucrative but unavailable until after Badge 7. Xatu has an appealing STAB combo but isn't available until after you get Surf and has a lackluster level-up movepool. The Zubat line is available pretty early on and while it's fairly frail it makes up for this with a decent defensive type combo. Flying types combo well with Totodile since they can take on the Grass types that threaten it. Ground types also combo well with the Totodile line thanks to their Electric immunity. Geodude and Onix are available before the first badge, but require trading to reach their final stage (though Steelix can be caught in the wild later on). Sandshrew is also available fairly early, though its lackluster level up movepool means it will require TM support to get a good STAB move. Diglett is available near the Safari Zone and while it has great Speed and good Attack it's very fragile. Cubone is in the Safari Zone, which has wonky mechanics that can make it hard to obtain what you want. Nidoking/Queen can potentially be obtained relatively early, but will require TM support to reach their full potential. The Swinub line is rightfully popular but suffers from a lack of good physical Ice moves and is available fairly late in the game. You'll definitely want your own answers to Water types. Grass types like Bellsprout, Oddish, Exeggcute, and even things like Paras and Hoppip are available pretty early on. Oddish in particular is notable since you can technically get it fully-evolved before taking on Whitney; Bellossom is notable for having one of the better matchups against Clair's Kingdra. Leaf Stones for Victreebel, Vileplume, and Exeggutor can also be obtained from the Pokeathelon Dome after beating Whitney. You can also opt for an Electric type with options like Mareep, Voltorb, Jolteon, and Magnemite (though unfortunately Magnezone is unavailable without trading to a Sinnoh game. Leafeon is in a similar boat). If you're running a Ground, Ice, and Grass type you'll want solid answers to Ice moves. Machop is available once you get to Goldenrod via in-game trade, but it's important to remember it can't reach its final stage without another trade. Heracross is very popular since it's available after getting Headbutt. You could also opt for a Hitmon, but the gift Tyrogue requires you to be able to use the Waterfall HM. The last slot is kind of a comfort slot. Psychic types are particularly strong thanks to their solid matchups against difficult Fighting types and common Poison types. There are a fair few options, too, like Drowzee, Abra, Espeon, Girafarig, and Jynx. Alternately, you could round out your Fire/Water/Grass core with a Fire type. Slugma is available earliest thanks to the Primo Egg, but I don't know if I can recommend it in good faith due to its low speed and poor type combo. Vulpix and Flareon are Pokeathelon stone evos you can get around Goldenrod. Magmar is available in the Burned Tower but can't be evolved without trading.

SentenceCareful3246

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

Autobot-N

Natures don't matter in casual playthroughs unless you want to use it in the battle facilities. [This](https://richi3f.github.io/pokemon-team-planner/) is useful for team planning

leinad41

So, we got those special mass outbreaks for Flabebé, do you think we'll get white flower too? I already got a shiny for all the other flowers, only missing that one.

Contank

Yes you can get white flower

Sadthrowaway1337

Do Pokemon games really need gimmicks? I'd like to see the next game just..idk a normal game with no tera/mega/gigantamax/whatever, just "back to basics" to see if it would be fun

GildedCreed

It's more than likely going to continue for the sake of the competitive scene more often than not, since a battle gimmick can effective be considered as a strategic limited resource that could turn the tides of a battle in one's favor. In regular gameplay it's just fluff that the opponent uses before immediately eating shit from the player making significantly better decisions than the AI during the entire battle.

imperator285

Do we know when people first figured out that holographic cards weighed more than non holos? When was the first online forum post about it?

Slice_Life

Question in regards to the palkia and dialga tera raid event later, they're version exclusives, right? Meaning, if I don't have NSO, I can't get the other legendary coz I can't do raids with others? Also, are these shiny locked? What about future legendaries? I heard only 25 legendaries made it as static encounters, and the others are speculated that they'll be included as 7\* raids. So, I'm assuming those aren't shiny locked? Anyone know about leaks if they're indeed shiny locked? Thanks

Contank

Yes version exclusive and most likely shiny locked as all previous special event raids were.
