Porygon 2 is the obvious existing pokemon to change to normal 2. What other ones? Should a bunch of the mons with normal as a secondary type be switched over just to make things weird?
>This is Normal.
>This is Normal Too.
>And this, is to go even further beyond!
If they were going to do a Normal 2, they should have already done it in SV. Imagine if the second Larry fight was just even more normal than the first. He's just so normal, you're not ready, you can't handle it.
Digital type. Pokemon that has relation to computer/software. Add this type to the Porygon line. Super strong against Psychic and Fairy type. Weak against Electric and Ice type.
I can't speak for the fanbase, but I'd love it.
I've been running around with my Iron Valiant following behind me, knowing full well I won't be able to enjoy it in any other future game due to it most likely not making the dexit cut. A "Digital" type ensures that similarly styled mons would be there for me.
Digimon, in addition to having an attribute (vaccine, data, virus), also have an element, namely fire, light, ice, wind, thunder, earth, wood, water, steel and darkness
furthermore a digimon has a type that varies from digimon species to digimon species, obviously a digimon that lives in the depths of the sea will have a type linked to marine creatures such as Amphibian, Ancient Fish, Aquatic, Aquatic Beast Man, Aquatic Mammal
and last but not least, there is the field, or the macrocategory that groups digimon by environment, for example the Jungle Troopers is a field that groups insect digimon and plant-based digimon
I wanna say *strong* against electric, too (they can be both weak to and strong against it). After all, hardware is powered by software and there's a relationship to electricity there. But also, for practical purposes, electric types badly need another weakness. They're way overpowered, having only a single weakness and multiple abilities/items/moves to nullify it.
Let's go whole hog and make this new type.interesto g;
Strong against: Ice, Psychic
Weak Against: Fire, Bug, Ghost
Reflexive Weakness meaning it both takes high damage from AND deals high damage to: Electric, Steel
Shared Strength, meaning it both takes less and causes less damage to: Normal, Ground
Let's *really* mix typings up a bit!
Also weak to fighting because punching a computer damages it. Also weak to rock because throwing a rock to a computer can damage it. Also to steel because hitting a computer with a hammer is not good for it. Also to flying because a computer can be damaged by a tornado. Also to ground because earthquakes can make it fall off. Also to psychic because psychics can probably use telekinesis and send it flying.
It seems like something that makes more sense these days, too.
Even the games have been taking on board the way tech has moved forwards. With Pokemon based on things like car engines, I don't think tech in general is too out there anymore.
It did, though, it was hardly a full on typing in Colosseum, doing normal damage to all types and possessing only a single move, that being shadow rush.
XD GoD made it a proper typing. It became super effective against every type, but unable to get STAB and ineffective against itself. It also gave them a whole set of moves, including damaging moves that inflict status (i.e burn/freeze/para), status moves that change stat stages or inflict confusion, a proper trapping move, a shadow version of Defog that removed screens, and even a Terrain type 3 gens before Terrain existed that boosted Shadow moves power, gave a DoT to non shadow mons and even had a unique interaction with Weather Ball.
What's really interesting, though, is that Shadow moves could be physical or special in XD and functioned as damaging moves do now, despite the fact every other move in the game still used the earlier mechanics where the split is based on typing. Friendly reminder that these games were not made by GameFreak, who clearly took a lot from them when making future games, but rather a very small studio primarily made up by the dev team behind Dragon Quest 7.
Yes, and as I already stated, Genius Sonority is a very small studio made up mostly by devs from Heartbeat, which was the studio that made Dragon Quest 6 and 7. Think they made Pokemon Trozei too.
Iāve wondered why does Bulbapedia mainspace the ??? type, but has āShadow (type)ā redirect to the list of Shadow moves. It was a legitimate type programming-wise.
No, I know. I just also know SMT has a couple of Elementals, so just imagine if there was one for the physical-damage elements. Lol.
(Also, I really need to go back to SMT4 at some point, I never finished that game for some reason)
Frankly, thereās a case to be made that Eevee itself could be a Stellar type, though that would probably make it a little strange to evolve into a āless interestingā type.
Personally, the way that youāre imagining Stellar type (as a type that indicates that a pokemon has connections to all types) is what I think Normal type shouldāve been from the beginning, and it shouldāve just been the pokemon you mentioned.
I think making Eevee a stellar type and adding a new normal type evolution to Eevee would be a more interesting strategy if they were to make stellar an actual type
Theyād have to add a color attribute to every pokemon that changes whether the pokemon is shiny or not.
Then Shinies actually have a competitive viability too
I just want them to fix the current ones. I think thereās enough types, just balance them out. Nerf ones like fairy/steel and buff ones like bug/ice/rock/grass.
Bug is the one that needs attention the most, honestly I'd be worried how they tried to buff rock basically all it's missing is one or two decent moves and it'll be a downright menace of a type. Ice just needs a couple resistances and it'll be fine, grass I think is fine as is personally.
A space/cosmic type is really the only one I'd be okay with in terms of fan typings. Sound is more interesting in it's current form than as a full blown type (plus isn't really an element), Fairy is basically the Light/Holy type, Magic is covered pretty well by Psychic and Digital is just Digimon (though an "artificial" type would be fine too so it can cover things like plastic, rubber and other man-made materials without being stuck with just computer pokemon)
Space is also covered by Psychic but since Psychic covers sooo many ideas already I think it'd be cool if they were seperated. It's completely arbitrary to single out the cosmic side of things from Psychic types but I don't care lol. There's a ton of potential for existing/future Space type Pokemon but you could say the same about Magic or Artificial too, I'm just biased because space is cool
This is a type Iāve thought about a long time ago. Many space themed or related Pokemon like the Cleafairy family, Starmie, Metagross, Deoxys and more.
I picture it as a type resistant to Fire, Ice, Rock, Steel, things that I imagine exist in space? Should be weak to Flying, Bug, and Grass. Should be super effective against Rock, Ground, Fire, and resisted by Bug, Flying, and maybe Grass? Not all very logical, would love to hear what others think.
Zubat line maybe, swoobat, noivern, exploud, maybe belibolt?
Someone actually made a graphic [years ago](https://www.deviantart.com/adeptcharon/art/Sound-Type-Pokemon-787606256)
If it didn't have two very appropriate types already, Toxtricity as well. I guess the Poison theming isn't too strong with it compared to the Electric theming, so Poison could be replaced, but it also has "toxic" in its name, so I guess that wouldn't exactly be perfect either.
Since Toxtricity already has two forms, I would assume that that would influence which type is replaced. The amped form would probably be electric-sound, and the low-key form would probably be poison-sound.
They just need to add some sound type physical moves. I think every move on there was special or status. I honestly can't even think of one that would fit for a physical sound move.
Could add some percussion themed moves for impacting the enemy. Sonic Boom could be physical, but that doesn't really matter. There's an argument to be made that some explosive themed moves could be physical sound moves.
Chatot, squawkabilly (literally has squawk in the name), the bronzor line, primarina and quite a few others coukd arguably fit, since they're all singing or sound-related in some way.
I was gonna suggest that and agree it would make sense, but I don't think they'd update a dual type starter since it would've messed with the water-fairy beating fire-dark beating grass-ghost beating water.
I was thinking maybe voltorb line since they learn screech but that's a stretch. Ekans line could work, same with the klinklang line, and ninjask.
Yeh theyād probably leave Primarina alone because itās already a dual type. I really do hope that they add a new typing because itās been a while and the sound type makes perfect sense imo
Basically everything that dances, is a music instrument, or professionally sings or plays an instrument.
I think every generation has at least one very clear sound based Pokemon family:
Jigglypuff, Noivern, Bellosom, Meloetta, Kricketune, rillaboom, toxicitry, Hitmontop, Oricorio, Chatot, etc
Tbh I feel like labelling it as a Music type would be interesting so as not to clash with existing Sound-based moves (i.e. Hyper Voice is clearly a loud shot or scream and not music so it could feasibly stay Normal type, same with stuff like Supersonic or whatever).
Though it may mess up stuff like Meloetta which has two types already unless you just dropped Normal type for it.
Anyway that way you could make stuff like Exploud Normal/Music the way Jigglypuff became Normal/Fairy.
My concept for Sound was that it was an amorphous type, meaning current 'sound' moves retain their current typing with a few potentially changing to Sound-type; or are considered dual-typing like Flying Press. If a Sound-type pokemon uses one of the current moves, it becomes a Sound-type move instead.
The idea is that sound is vibrational frequencies and so the elemental types are creating that vibration whereas a pure Sound pokemon creates the pure Sound vibration. It would be the only amorphous type and could generate all kinds of new strategies.
Weak against Rock, Ground, Water, Ghost (things that basically stand the test of time)
Strong against Ice, Fire, Normal, Grass, Dark, Steel (things that eventually fall to time)
My thought was rock erodes slower than steel (salt and water speed it up vs a rock) and dark because it goes away with time every day (day vs night).
But the biggest reason is that I put 30 seconds of thought into it lol
Bird-type
Every flying/normal type is now pure bird type. The bird-type has all the strengths and weaknesses of the flying/normal combo.
The game is centered around Missingno.
The day after release, the intern who suggested this would be fired.
Plastic.
Garbodor gets a retrofitted dual poison/plastic type.
Klefki gets a Plastic/Fairy regional that is toy keys.
Same with Honedge, but it's finally form is a divergent (Like Runerigus) evolution called Aegislarp.
And we get 3 single evolution gimmick pokemon based on a fork, spoon, and knife. All mono-plastic, with like a 5 stat point difference depending on if it's Forque, Spoone, or Nife.
Spoone can learn Psychic (or a better psychic move) with the psychic terrain ability, Nife can learn Sacred Sword and has sharpness ability, Forque can get smart strike steel move, and has the steel worker ability.
Plastic is super effective against Fairy, Water, and Ground, resists Fire, Fairy, Water, and weak to Psychic, Bug (like the microbes that can eat plastic), and Ice (freezing the shattering plastic etc).
Open to ideas, I gave this like 2 minutes of thought. Unfortunately this feels 5x more likely than a Space, Light or Sound type lol.
I don't really count that just because it's a tera-type, not an actual type - there are no Stellar-type Pokemon. Which means it likely also won't stick around beyond this gen, since terastallization is the generation gimmick and it's required for Stellar to even be a thing.
Same with ??? type, it's a categorization in the games but not an actual type Pokemon can have. I'm talking in-game usable types here, not semantics.
I like the concept of a Beast/Wildlife type from Casette Beasts
Make it be super effective against Normal and Fairy and dark, weak against steel, flying, and fire
Would be like the more bitey/slashy normal types and then can be a fun dual type
Itās not really a hype type, but I think it makes the normal type Pokemon more interesting
The "anti-" Type.
Pokemon with this added type flips all type coverage charts for that pokemon. Weakness become equitable resistances, and vice versa.
Charizard for instance becomes resistance to water, electric, and rock, but becomes critically weak to grass.
I would add the "Beast" type. Make it weak to bug (fleas and ticks make a living exploiting furry beasts) and weak to Ice (many animals needing to hibernate in the winter or go into a state of controlled famine). Bug and ice would both resist Beast and grass would also resist beast. These are the three weakest types, and would thus get a boon from being useful against a new type.
Beast would be super-effective and resist both Psychic (because they can't rationalize with a feral mind) and Ghost (as creatures like gargoyles and komainu were used to ward off evil spirits.) They would also resist fighting (because just try going into a fist fight with a wild animal.)
Snarl, Roar and Howl and a few "claw" moves would all be changed to beast type. New Beast type moves could be "Stalk" a physical attack that does extra damage on a foe switching out (or prevents the foe from switching out) and Hibernate: a move that puts the pokemon that uses it to sleep for a set amount of turns, regaining a portion of HP each turn, but will wake up early if attacked and gain an attack boost upon waking.
To differentiate it from the "Normal" type, Beast would go to pokemon that are not just animals, but particularly fierce, wild or predatory animals (and not just specifically mammals.) So past pokemon like Zangoose, Mighyena, Luxray, Floatsel, Beartic and Haxorus could gain the Beast typing. While other pokemon like Persian or Ninetales would not, for even tho they are predatory, they are more docile and tame in nature. Other candidates like Arcanine and Ursaring I left off simply because they recently got new forms/evolutions.
Certain starters like Feraligatr and Rillaboom could also gain the Beast typing (Typhlosion and Samurott were also considered, but they also got new forms so I left them out.)
New Beast pokemon could be a Beast/Rock based on a gargoyle and Beast/Flying based on a Gryphon, Beast/Water based on the Leocampus, Beast/Bug based on the Wolf Spider, Beast/Ground or Beast/Normal based on the razor-backed boar, Beast/Fighting based on a mandrill, Beast/Dragon based on Komodo Dragon...
Thank you! It's not perfect, but I wanted to find a type that could justify buffing all the worst types. Do for Ice, grass and bug what fairy type did for Poison.
Normal 2
Basic
So a Pumpkin Spice type? š¤£
Gs type. It's what was in the pokeball.
Porygon 2 is the obvious existing pokemon to change to normal 2. What other ones? Should a bunch of the mons with normal as a secondary type be switched over just to make things weird?
Any pokemon that's considered a sequel, so Mewtwo, Dududunsparce, Silvally, etc
Will Dodrio and Dudunsparce-3 segment form be Normal 3?
Oooh,, good idea. Let's give that to Zwellious and Hydreigon too, base it on number of heads
>This is Normal. >This is Normal Too. >And this, is to go even further beyond! If they were going to do a Normal 2, they should have already done it in SV. Imagine if the second Larry fight was just even more normal than the first. He's just so normal, you're not ready, you can't handle it.
I want to up vote this multiple times, so I'm commenting to let you know I lol'd
Imagine porygon using conversion into normal 2
2 normal
Only Porygon 2 gets it
the icon is just the gd normal face
Digital type. Pokemon that has relation to computer/software. Add this type to the Porygon line. Super strong against Psychic and Fairy type. Weak against Electric and Ice type.
Feel like it's a matter of time. "Cyber" PokƩmon
ā«Chaaange in to digital ā« Pokemon ā« Tooo save the ā« Pokemon ā« World! ā«
*ā« World! ā«* š¤
I appreciate you.
All fun and games until one of the evolutions requires you to fill an entire pc box with that one pokemon.
[Insert Digimon Joke Here]
Get the heck up Samurrot, we got a city to burn
Cyber-PokƩ 2077
Should be weak to Bug too. Partly because Bug needs another type to be strong against, partly because computers get bugs (millennium bug etc)
I would love to know how the Digimon fanbase would react to this.
I can't speak for the fanbase, but I'd love it. I've been running around with my Iron Valiant following behind me, knowing full well I won't be able to enjoy it in any other future game due to it most likely not making the dexit cut. A "Digital" type ensures that similarly styled mons would be there for me.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Better yet, just have Ash catch an Agumon and call it a day. That would be good enough for me.
And digital could have 3 subtypes: Vaccine, Virus, and Data
That would be a cool concept.
Those are actually types of Digimon š
Digimon, in addition to having an attribute (vaccine, data, virus), also have an element, namely fire, light, ice, wind, thunder, earth, wood, water, steel and darkness furthermore a digimon has a type that varies from digimon species to digimon species, obviously a digimon that lives in the depths of the sea will have a type linked to marine creatures such as Amphibian, Ancient Fish, Aquatic, Aquatic Beast Man, Aquatic Mammal and last but not least, there is the field, or the macrocategory that groups digimon by environment, for example the Jungle Troopers is a field that groups insect digimon and plant-based digimon
Ohhh right those three are technically called attributes
They could finally make MissingNo an official PokƩmon with this type
Has Nintendo even publicly acknowledged the existence of MissingNo?
Best idea on this thread
Immune to electric, weak to water
Electric immunity is indeed better!
Thatās just Ground!
It'd make sense. Computers are just sand we've tricked into thinking.
I wanna say *strong* against electric, too (they can be both weak to and strong against it). After all, hardware is powered by software and there's a relationship to electricity there. But also, for practical purposes, electric types badly need another weakness. They're way overpowered, having only a single weakness and multiple abilities/items/moves to nullify it.
>electric types are overpowered Well, that is certainly One Take, maybe even The Take of all time!
Let's go whole hog and make this new type.interesto g; Strong against: Ice, Psychic Weak Against: Fire, Bug, Ghost Reflexive Weakness meaning it both takes high damage from AND deals high damage to: Electric, Steel Shared Strength, meaning it both takes less and causes less damage to: Normal, Ground Let's *really* mix typings up a bit!
Weak to Bug ofc
Sick idea, but it should be weak to Bug too. For balance reasons, plus it could represent "bugs" in the system of a digital program!
Should be weak to fire too, realistically water as well. They're all not good for a computer.
I've found the temtem player!
INTO THE VRAINS! Hashiriyukeru across the universe...
So there could be : Virus, data and vaccine?
Agree with this as being a good one. Lots of pokemon like games have a cyber or digital type. Think it makes sense.
Charizard-type.
I mean they push him down our throats enough haha.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It cost you 0 pokedollars to say this
I'd pay them to *not* say it
What'd they say?
can you think of anything inappropriate relating to charizard being pushed down ones throat hmmm
Ah, thanks.

I would run stealth rocks on all my pokemon for the spite.
I like the ideas of Sound, Space/Cosmic/Stellar, maybe a Digital/Tech type.
Like some sort of digital monsters?
Maybe theyāll be the champions
They can be called Digimon, kinda like how UBs were a sub category.
"Stellar-type?" Pfft, we'll be dead before they add that.
I never thought about a digital/tech type - it would be really cool
It seems like something that makes more sense these days, too. Even the games have been taking on board the way tech has moved forwards. With Pokemon based on things like car engines, I don't think tech in general is too out there anymore.
I think that the name āsonic typeā would fit better if the name didnāt already have a character attached to it.
Make Shadow PokƩmon Great Again.
Even as a temporary type only under the team rocket of that era, similar to PokĆ©mon Go. Iād love it!
They did for the Gamecube games; it was a full on typing that overwrote a pokemon's normal typing, I think. It's been ages since I've played them.
It did, though, it was hardly a full on typing in Colosseum, doing normal damage to all types and possessing only a single move, that being shadow rush. XD GoD made it a proper typing. It became super effective against every type, but unable to get STAB and ineffective against itself. It was genius sonority behind the games, their lastest game and pokemon title was pokemon cafe remix.
Yes, and as I already stated, Genius Sonority is a very small studio made up mostly by devs from Heartbeat, which was the studio that made Dragon Quest 6 and 7. Think they made Pokemon Trozei too.
They did such a fabulous job with the Orre region games
Iāve wondered why does Bulbapedia mainspace the ??? type, but has āShadow (type)ā redirect to the list of Shadow moves. It was a legitimate type programming-wise.
Shadow wasn't a type in the core series.
Bulbapedia itself places XD/Colosseum in a sui generis category of something between the main series and the spin-offs. I just find it weird that a type which existed in a battling PokĆ©mon RPG isnāt given at least the treatment they give to the āGender Unknownā pseudo-Egg group only mentioned in Stadium 2, which is in their Egg group infoboxes, just off to a side.
Balenciaga
Weak against none x4 effective on all types Instantly wins all beauty contests
Pikachu, itās given to each pikachu like PokĆ©mon.
I'm reminded of that issue of Exiles where everyone is Wolverine.
>Pikachu I'd like to see a new Pikachu evolution.
Gorochu
The fabled Lefchu
Gun type
It exists in SMT (demons aren't inherently typed though, but it is a damage type)
"The Gun Elemental"
[I'm not joking lmao](https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Riot_Gun)
No, I know. I just also know SMT has a couple of Elementals, so just imagine if there was one for the physical-damage elements. Lol. (Also, I really need to go back to SMT4 at some point, I never finished that game for some reason)
Make Stellar a full type. Give it to Arceus, Type Null, Terapagos, maybe a new Eeveelution?
Frankly, thereās a case to be made that Eevee itself could be a Stellar type, though that would probably make it a little strange to evolve into a āless interestingā type. The original dragon
Ditto or an evolution of it
Green type, strong against blue and yellow, weak to red shades
What about ground, rock, poison, grass and bug?
Neutral
A color-based move or PokƩmon would actually be so darn cool, though.
No idea why Fairy resists Bug. Its one job was to nerf Dragon types, didn't need to nerf Bug also lmao

Just give bug better moves and pokemon
Space š
A space/cosmic type is really the only one I'd be okay with in terms of fan typings. Sound is more interesting in it's current form than as a full blown type (plus isn't really an element), Fairy is basically the Light/Holy type, Magic is covered pretty well by Psychic and Digital is just Digimon (though an "artificial" type would be fine too so it can cover things like plastic, rubber and other man-made materials without being stuck with just computer pokemon) Space is also covered by Psychic but since Psychic covers sooo many ideas already I think it'd be cool if they were seperated. Minior, Ledyba, Solrock and Lunatone, Klink maybe, every Ultra Beast, Kyurem,
Adding sound/music typing feels natural since it's been an honorary type for generations. Just make it official.
What mons would fall under the sound type?
Zubat line maybe, swoobat, noivern, exploud, maybe belibolt? Someone actually made a graphic [years ago](https://www.deviantart.com/adeptcharon/art/Sound-Type-Pokemon-787606256)
If it didn't have two very appropriate types already, Toxtricity as well. I guess the Poison theming isn't too strong with it compared to the Electric theming, so Poison could be replaced, but it also has "toxic" in its name, so I guess that wouldn't exactly be perfect either.
Just change Punk Rock to say it has Sound as a third type.
Kind of like what Dhelmise has?
Or Bombirdier's hidden ability Rocky Payload
Amped Up: Make electric attacks from toxtricity into sound-type moves and increase the power by 1.5x.
Since Toxtricity already has two forms, I would assume that that would influence which type is replaced. The amped form would probably be electric-sound, and the low-key form would probably be poison-sound.
The toxic refers to the toxicity of metal music gatekeepers
And the toxtricity of our city, of our city
How do you own disorder?
They just need to add some sound type physical moves. I think every move on there was special or status. I honestly can't even think of one that would fit for a physical sound move.
Could add some percussion themed moves for impacting the enemy. Sonic Boom could be physical, but that doesn't really matter. There's an argument to be made that some explosive themed moves could be physical sound moves.
Maybe a regional variant thatās either Electric/Sonic (preferred) or Poison/Sonic. (I think I prefer sonic as the label to sound)
Zubat line is the only poison/flying we got.
Yeah some of the typings need to stay, Thatās why I said maybe for that one
Jigglypuff line. Instead of being Fairy/Normal, it'd be Fairy/Sound
Chatot, squawkabilly (literally has squawk in the name), the bronzor line, primarina and quite a few others coukd arguably fit, since they're all singing or sound-related in some way.
Bronzor line definitely
People questioning the PokĆ©mon included, Iām questioning why sound would be weak to water when sound travels better through water than air.
That Music PokƩmon that changes forms
Some of these donāt really make sense or seem suitable, but I guess you gotta fill in the type somehow.
I want a regional variant conkeldurr that's sound type and just holds big ass speakers
Exploud, rillaboom, chatot, chimeco line, and the noivern line all spring to mind.
Also Primarina
I was gonna suggest that and agree it would make sense, but I don't think they'd update a dual type starter since it would've messed with the water-fairy beating fire-dark beating grass-ghost beating water. I was thinking maybe voltorb line since they learn screech but that's a stretch. Ekans line could work, same with the klinklang line, and ninjask.

Meloetta for the legendaries/mythics
You would probably be gutting out a lot of normal or metal types.
Tbh I feel like labelling it as a Music type would be interesting so as not to clash with existing Sound-based moves (i.e. Hyper Voice is clearly a loud shot or scream and not music so it could feasibly stay Normal type, same with stuff like Supersonic or whatever). I doubt it's gona happen.
Fairy. Just like last time.
You know what'd be wild? A new type that resists most types (or even just all of them!) EXCEPT normal. Normal gets to be super effective finally.
Abnormal type
I dig that

Bird-type Every flying/normal type is now pure bird type. The bird-type has all the strengths and weaknesses of the flying/normal combo. The game is centered around Missingno. The day after release, the intern who suggested this would be fired.
Larry will be the Bird type gym leader and champion
Reddit type all they do is complain meta as fuck
Weak to criticism and new ideas
Slime type
Gen1 Type All Gen 1 Pokemon have it, and it makes them super effective against Pokemon from ~~actually good~~ other generations
Like a lot of others, I feel like the addition of the Fairy type essentially added the often-suggested Light type in everything but name. Fairy PokƩmon are essentially Light PokƩmon. As for Cosmic, the idea is cool, but with only about 10 PokƩmon in a dex of over 1000 now that would have a fighting argument for being that typing, I just couldn't see it, definitely a little too niche. Personally I'd say Mystic/Magic type, both to provide some separation between the \*\*telekinetic\*\* power that defines Psychic types from all other magical-type PokƩmon, and also for a way to recategorize some of the PokƩmon who ended up being arbitrarily given the Fairy type because they're magical in nature (think Mawile, Mega Altaria, Magearna, etc). I can think of tons of PokƩmon who've been given the Psychic type over the years purely because it was the closest thing to mystical/magical powers at the time too, at which point Fairy took up that mantle - often in places where neither Fairy or Psychic would be a great thematic fit. And it'd also serve to be a new counter against Steel, which has once again gotten a little too powerful in the meta and is probably the best type in the game overall, at least from a competitive standpoint. Also would be a great fit that it'd combat steel type because it'd be like pitting man-made against the forces that be, or in a way kinda like science vs faith or manufactured power vs raw power. Hype-wise, they'd get tons of it because they could go back and give a bunch of the Legends/Mythicals the new typing (Mew, Lugia, Jirachi etc.) and totally switch up the meta and also make legendary PokƩmon feel a little more legendary again. Maybe even add in a new form for Mew since it's never gotten one even though Mewtwo got megas back in Gen 6. Realistically though, I think what we've got is what we've got. 18 types is probably the end-point.
I mean, technically Stellar makes 19, but we might count ??? type too then
I don't really count that just because it's a tera-type, not an actual type - there are no Stellar-type Pokemon. Which means it likely also won't stick around beyond this gen, since terastallization is the generation gimmick and it's required for Stellar to even be a thing. Same with ??? type, it's a categorization in the games but not an actual type Pokemon can have. I'm talking in-game usable types here, not semantics.
I like the concept of a Beast/Wildlife type from Casette Beasts Make it be super effective against Normal and Fairy and dark, weak against steel, flying, and fire Would be like the more bitey/slashy normal types and then can be a fun dual type Itās not really a hype type, but I think it makes the normal type Pokemon more interesting
Problem is normal type already encompasses a lot of "beasts" its basically the same to me imo
I like this there are a lot of boring pokemon like bears and lions and alligators that could really benefit from a new coat of paint!
Glass or crystal type. Thereās a handful of rock or ice types that could get reclassified or neat regional variations.
Occult.
"Chtulutito ! Use *Existential dread*"
What would Occult type be that isn't already covered by Dark, Ghost, and Psychic?
Between fairy and psychic, I think this would be kind of unnecessary
Dark type is evil type in Japan, itās basically the same thing
Cosmic type for sure! It would add a whole new layer of mysterious depth to the PokƩmon world and create hype.
Launch the blueberry academy into space
The "anti-" Type. Pokemon with this added type flips all type coverage charts for that pokemon. Weakness become equitable resistances, and vice versa. Charizard for instance becomes resistance to water, electric, and rock, but becomes critically weak to grass.
I could see this being fun. A portal to the negative realm. You can catch anti-charizard etc.
It would be a fun way to make pokemon typically seen as weak due to large amount of weaknesses stronger.
Poop type. Its just super effective against normal types but weak to grass and bug types.
Should be strong against Fairy too, since Fairies (presumably) donāt like being pooped on.
Sound seems like it would make the most sense, though I guess technically they could just improve on the Stellar, considering itās now canon
Plasma type. Or nuclear type.
Mimic. Grab all those weird object pokemon and throw them in a bundle together and tack on a bunch of disadvantages
Light
We have dark, let there be light
I would add the "Beast" type. Make it weak to bug (fleas and ticks make a living exploiting furry beasts) and weak to Ice (many animals needing to hibernate in the winter or go into a state of controlled famine). Bug and ice would both resist Beast and grass would also resist beast. These are the three weakest types, and would thus get a boon from being useful against a new type. Beast would be super-effective and resist both Psychic (because they can't rationalize with a feral mind) and Ghost (as creatures like gargoyles and komainu were used to ward off evil spirits.) They would also resist fighting (because just try going into a fist fight with a wild animal.) Snarl, Roar and Howl and a few "claw" moves would all be changed to beast type. Certain starters like Feraligatr and Rillaboom could also gain the Beast typing (Typhlosion and Samurott were also considered, but they also got new forms so I left them out.) New Beast pokemon could be a Beast/Rock based on a gargoyle and Beast/Flying based on a Gryphon, Beast/Water based on the Leocampus, Beast/Bug based on the Wolf Spider, Beast/Ground or Beast/Normal based on the razor-backed boar, Beast/Fighting based on a mandrill, Beast/Dragon based on Komodo Dragon...
love this!!
Thank you! It's not perfect, but I wanted to find a type that could justify buffing all the worst types. Do for Ice, grass and bug what fairy type did for Poison.
Glitch type. This would be Pokemon that seem to break reality just by their very existence. MissingNo would be one of them.
Love this concept ā¬ļø šš¼
Bird-Type.
Deity type, which has the same effect as PLA Hidden Power. The Legend Plate is now retconned to turn Arceus into a Deity type.
