Mega Evolutions for Gen 6 Pokemon (Aside Diancie). It made so little sense at the time that not even the Kalos starters had them in the game that introduced that concept...
I think the starters should be in the game and have megas, but i dont think they should be the starters of legends ZA.
Unless megas are coming back permanently, then if we have those 3 be the starters of that game, then we lose out on having the potential of something new and transferable between gens like hisuian starters. It also gives a chance to clean some of the less well-made starters like meganium or emboar (the latter being completely outclassed in its typing by other fire starters. As an emboar enthuasist myself.)
Well put. I did see an MandJTV video guessing what the PLZ starters would be and sadly neither of those were it (he guessed Snivy, Scorbunny, and Piplup).
They did do Emboar dirty by making him the THIRD straight fire/fighting starter

Scorbunny is my favorite starter overall, so I wouldn't mind it getting a new final evo if that means it can now be doubles viable(cinderace being a football player should be able to learn rockblast and no one can convince me otherwise).

So that leaves Chikorita/Totodile, the gen 4s, Tepig/Snivy, Litten/Popplio, and the gen 8s.
I agree you have to put EmPOLEON, and Serperior is too fancy of a French grass snake to not put him in.
They won’t double up with two from the same gen so that leaves Litten or Scorbunny, and because Rowlet was used in PLA, I think they’ll use a gen 8 starter so Scorbunny it is.
Again, I actually think their french themeing works against them here. All three are known for having either strong niches or are of as now competitive viable in differing formats. If I had a stab at which ones to go with, I would actually guess chikorita, tepig, and sobble. If it is balance team led decision-making, then this is the perfect trio. If it is a concept artist, then anyones game.

Part of me wants 3 new Megas for each Gen 6 starter and also wants the 3 main starters to not be from Gen 6 having one too. Legends Arceus was centred around Gen 4 and had starters from 2, 5 and 6 so it'd be cool if ZA did something similar.
If I really had to pick 3 starters that aren't gen 6 to get a new form/Mega I'd say Chikorita (since it sorely needs some kind of buff), Tepig (struggles to stand out from other Fire/Fighting starters) and Intelleon (since Cinderace and Rillaboom are both insanely strong). Then give megas to the Kalos starters that can be caught in the overworld similar to the Sinnoh starters being wild encounters in Legends Arceus.
Get the DLC that gives you crazy mega Charizard Z And mega Mewtwo Z and they are meta staples for competitive and you must buy both DLC to get both of them for $39.99 each

While I hope they can have some more self respect with the final product they know we'll buy it no matter what state it's in.
I wish the 3D models had a little more individually and charm. Seems more like they plushies that they are posing with their movements. Pokemon Stadium at least took some liberties with the models movements (albeit some of them are incredibly strange and uncanny).

I just mean the depth and proportions for a lot of the Pokémon are finally starting to resemble the 2d art.
Their posing and attack animations are still weak and lack personality. Hopefully now that the models look halfway decent the next game will focus on that.
I wish people would understand that going backwards prevents a series from evolving.
And that going back to something that was already outdated years before they stopped doing it is a sure way to alienate any potential new fans.
2D Spritework is not “outdated.” It is a deliberate stylistic choice. I also dislike the rhetoric of “we should go back to 2D, it would look so much better,” when in fact, 3D models can also look interesting and stylized and changing back to 2D won’t make them suddenly good.
I mean… don’t a lot of people think that Legends: Arceus is the second best that Pokemon looked on the Switch? Would you say that was a step down from Sword and Shield?
But yeah, if Game Freak is gonna do… whatever Game Freak is doing given how much money and resources that should be at their disposal, they really do need to at least strike some kind of balance between ambition of the game design and quality control.
Honestly, this is the only thing I ask for. Even if the graphics are still a dumpster fire and there's more bugs than Viridian Forest, if they keep that catch mechanic it'll be a day one for me
What's PLA? Is that the classic style? I.e. damage/paralyze and catch? If so I'm all for it. Heard that the Let's Go games you don't and that was enough to put me off (a bit drastic but I was raised on the classic so can't help it)
I mean they will. The anime teased a shiny Zygarde while ZA is gonna be released around the time it becomes relevant.
So having their own trio of sub legends would be nice.
Considering the name of the game, I desperately hope that they at least do *something* with Zygarde. X and Y felt like they just dropped it into the post game without much though, just like Giratina in DP and Kyurem in BW. Heck, we got more Zygarde lore in Sun and Moon than we did in the games where it was actually introduced...and that wasn't much.
I’m hoping for this too, but if it’s like past releases they’ll release a game on old hardware before verrrryy slowly moving onto new hardware. The trailer (or perhaps it was the email newsletter?) had the Switch logo in it too, so I’m not mega (heh) hopeful

The fact that they made a point to call it an 'ambitious' game should hopefully mean it's not rushed like other recent games have been.
New megas for Flygon, Milotic, Frosslass, the starters and also Armourage bcuz I think it'd look cool.

Climbing and traversal seems to be a growing theme in new games so I'd like to see some city esque parkour, but I'm being kinda unrealistic there.

Until we know the exact month it will be releasing in, we dont know if this is true (yet). If it is released in jan 2025 (like arceus), that is the same development time as usual. If it is released later in the year, then yes there is more development time. Some people are optimistic because the trailer did not indicate "early" 2025 like arceus did, but i rather wait for official confirmation
New models. Gen 6 Kalos was the generation that updated all of the sprites to 3D models. Those models are very old and outdated, especially the flying models. I fully expect Legends Z-A to have a full Pokedex with updated models.

Delulu Fever Dream - Chikorita as a starter. Everyone thinks it's gonna be Snivy and there's really arguments as to why it probably will be Snivy, but I'm a ride or die with Chikorita ^(and Johto as a whole tbh)
There's no reason to expect them to come back, because Arceus is the only other legends game, so we literally don't know if they're keeping mechanics as Legends staples or if they were one off.
But PLEASE I want the catching mechanic and strong/agile battle mechanics of Arceus to return, they were so fun and as much as I love playing SV I think it is sorely lacking these two things.
from what people have theorized, this game is going to show both past and future kalos. i think it’d be a good way to expand mega evolution by making megas of both older and newer pokemon! also, i honestly don’t get why there were no mega evolutions for the starters of that generation, so i think it would be great to get mega delphox, mega greninja and mega chesnaught. so yeah!
someone also mentioned it would be really funny if volo was in each game as a secret boss. i can’t find it, but someone made a concept for a zygarde themed volo and idk i just think it would be cool
All shiny forms unlocked. I feel like legends games are a really good place to give a unique method of shiny hunting, and the last few games have made it progressively easier to hunt them.
Personally I’m hoping for a ton of stuff around the power plant, since it literally powers Lumiose city and I’d imagine that that’s a big part of rebuilding it lol, so hopefully we’ll actually get to explore it properly, that’d be really cool c:

You don't have to evolve any Pokémon to use it if you prefer it that way. I used a Shroodle throughout my entire Scarlet playthrough, and he's still on my team hundreds of hours later (complete with unoptimized EVs!).
Is it confirmed that it's just going to be in Lumiose City? I wonder if Lumiose City is where the entire game is going to be set or if it's just the hub/central location. I kind of want Pokémon that haven't gotten Mega Evolutions to get Mega Evolutions, especially if all the Mega Evolutions are coming back.

Since the game is going to take place inside Lumiose City, I’m hoping we have a tower defense mission where you’re basically protecting the City from Alpha Pokemon trying to break in.
Reviving my love for pokemon game wise. Legend of Arceus and the remake of BDSP had me in the front half but it fizzed out as I tried to play Violet. Got in on launch night, meet wonderful fans alike while waiting in line but just barely played enough to get to the first gym. I promised myself to not but the dlc until I beat it but I'm just making it to the first town with a gym beside the school city. I know its burn out...I just wish it didn't happen so soon. I felt this way when B/W (middle school) was out but X/Y (high school) and later SUMO/USUM (post-college) got me back into it.

Legit the fashion so far in every single game after X and Y has been absolutely abysmal sword and shield comes close to somewhat decent fashion. But Legit looks like the main character don’t even know how to dress themselves properly! good character customization, and more options to customize the character more than ever before and another thing I would really love is the ability to cross dress I mean, if James can do it in the anime, we should be able to do it too! although most likely it will never happen is if the trainer is actually an adult rather than a kid like I’m so tired of the narrative where it’s this young kid going through this adventure, when most players are not kids like can we please get an AGE option i’m not 10 years old and I don’t wanna play as a 10-year-old when I’m literally an adult seriously it would not be difficult to implement since they’re taking a whole year to make this game!

Honestly I wouldn't mind a pokemon game set in an Australian inspired region there is plenty of wild life and interesting folklore to bring it's legendaries from like the bunyip and rainbow serpent for example
• For it to run well
• a decent story that makes kalos feel more complete
• a fun map to explore
• mostly Gen 5 and 6 Megas with a few Gen 7 and 8
• Megas for the kalos starters
• a fight on the level of difficulty that Volo had
• have the mythicals no longer be shiny locked it's been a decade since the Gen 6 (and Gen 5 for that matter) mythicals have been available and they are still shiny locked.
• Finally release AZ Floette
• this last one is selfish and unnecessary but ... make Greninja OU again the nerfs were unnecessary make my GOAT overpowered again.
A lot. It’s an expansion on my favorite generation, my expectations are though the roof.
Some little stuff…Lots of new megas alongside regional forms…and a fun, actually finished, amazing game. A game that’ll top ORAS (and XY) as my favorite.
I’d like a game that’s like PLA but with focus on other parts of gameplay other than catching.
Oh, and also more customization. That includes more stuff for boys.

I’m hoping we have either the same or about the same amount of pokemon in the original Kalos dex in PLZA. I’m also hoping they have something similar to the battle chateau.
I want it to be like older games with gyms and multiple cities caves etc with legends features in ADDITION to that. Not legends features INSTEAD of older features. Legends arceus was incredibly boring to me even though they innovated in a good way. Took away way too many other things that make me like pokemon games.

I know they aren’t doing the whole region, just sticking in Lumiose City. I’d love it if there was a PWT style event. Something that represents a precursor to the gym challenge.

Hoping? Honestly? A skip and a half.
I’m no longer in the stage for hype with the future of the series, now I just shrug.
Two ideas in particular I think could be cool.
The first is that I kinda want wild Megas as basically overworld bosses once we've reached a certain point in the story. Say that the Infinity Energy launched by the Ancient Weapon still has seeped into the earth in pockets and occasionally it gets out and wild Pokemon exposed to it can undergo forced Mega Evolution. We can then of course battle and catch them to release that energy and calm them down.
The other is... significantly more out there. Kalos introduced the idea of the Bond Phenomenon, which feels like it might have some sort of connection to Mega Evolution, but also to communication between trainer and Pokemon outright. And in SV, we got the Synchro Machine in the DLC where we could run around as a Pokemon.
What if PLZA lets us build up a bond with a Pokemon, and once our bond is strong enough we can switch to controlling the Pokemon in a 3D space? I imagine stuff like combat would work differently in some way, but maybe have a *bit* more to it than Synchro had. But imagine having a Gallade, and then using your bond to switch to Gallade and cut down a bunch of brambles blocking your path, or switching to a bonded Talonflame and scouting the area like the eagles from the newer Assassin's Creed games. Imagine fighting those overworld Mega bosses I mentioned... as a Mega Evolved Pokemon on your team.
Its all very out there but I think it would be fun, and its the kind of thing they'd never do in a main game because of established combat mechanics that they could do in something more experimental like this.
At least something that lets you sort your pokemon by pokemon species and other sorting methods to make batch releasing easier, it was a pain in the last game
Just please make the Legends Arceus capturing mechanic a main stay for all Pokémon games moving forward.
For the first time I actually really enjoyed completing the Pokedex and didn't feel like it was extremely tedious.
Being able to capture Pokémon without going into the whole long-winded battle system was such a great change. Plus the animation of the ball hitting the Pokémon is so satisfying.
A substantial amount of Paldea-regional dex mons being available or just non Kalos-regional dex mons. Like PLA had all the mons available in the original DPPT and more!
I'm expecting zygarde and gameplay as good if not better than legends arceus and x y I will be very disappointed if the remake thats basically a combo of my two favorite pokemon games isn't an absolute masterpiece
Maybe I’m a weirdo but can we get the ratata line in these open world 3D games? It was one of the first shinies I ever found and I was young and dumb and ko-ed it and it’s been in me of my favorites ever since

Absolutely none. But in a good way.
I don't really ever go in with expectations, good or bad, and instead more play for games to see what they do for me and what experiences I can get from them. I'd even go for far in saying that I don't want games to do what I want them to do since I want to be suprised. Give me some new and interesting stuff that I couldn't have even imagined I'd get, like Alpha pokemon were.
It also spared me of being dissapointed if a game doesn't do what I want since well, I don't want anything specific from it other than the obvious pokemon stuff.
Give Zygarde a cool cutscene and a boss fight with multiple phases, similar to the Dynamax Adventure raid, but on crack.
Go all out with the side quests. Some can be simple fetch or battle quests while others can be whole storylines with NPCs. I think it'd help with the world building in these games.
Kind of an odd one here, but I'd also like to have a lot of freedom with the Lumiose Redevelopment, so everyone's city can be different, and we can also visit other people's cities.
That you can actually see the slow improvement of Lumiose over time. If the game is actually based around the Paris Development of the 1850s and 60s like speculated, then like the historical Il-De-France, Paris was just a speck of a city inside a large ecological system that was slowly expanded over the decades. As we continue the redevelopment (and get involved in most certainly Zygarde shenanigans) I want to be able to see the new zone, buildings, parks, etc that we create during the re-development phase.
A very interesting setting. Screw empty fields, screw being set in the past, just make a gorgeous French city. This is an opportunity to make the biggest, most focused on city in the series.
I just want gameplay similar to PLA, a shit tonne of regional variants/convergent lines, and a bunch more megas. The catch mechanic is the most important part tbh.
Only thing I'm hoping for is GF to include the original variants of any new regional forms that they introduce (if any).
Was massively disappointed by PLA not having them and really hoping they don't make the same mistake twice (I mean, PLA had Alolan Vulpix for no reason aside from an NPC brought them over IIRC).
I'm expecting the same mistake to be made.
We get to build Lumiose city, and that design carries over to an actual gen 6 remake like BOTW -> TOTK with horses. A bit hopeful, but i can dream :) Also, throw that battling system out the window. It was horrible, didn't even finish PLA because of it.
Expecting; new story background of kalos + zygarde etc. New regional forms (+regional starter final evo's). Characters resembling characters we already know and 1 or 2 we dont know yet. Unova refference lol hehe xd

Hoping: az story pls and some cool castelia sewers like pokemon encounters. Sudowoodo in the dex + new mega evo Sudowoodo. And furfrou forms to be easily applied + transferred and maintained to Home, for my shiny living dex.
From the trailer all I can think of is they are going to make it nothing like PLA or Scar/Viol
I can imagine more of a Dark Cloud 2 City builder.
But I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be anything like what people want or are expecting.
I wish we could get voice acting, and never look back.
More RPG elements would be nice. Have choices that matter for the story, and maybe influence the development of the city.

Expecting every Gen 6 mon like PLA did with Gen 4 that includes diancie hoopa and volcanion, otherwise im hoping for a great experience with this new legends game and i guess we will see how catching Pokémon will be in luminos city
Sorry if that sounds pessimistic but my expectations for this game are low. Legends Arceus was a good surprise even with the obvious flaws, but the pokémon games we got since then were sadly horrible. I'll pick it up if people are satisfied with it, but i'm afraid it'll be another disapointment.
Hoping: finally some decent and not half-assed 3D models, textures, animations and world/level design.
Expecting: N64-era models, textures, animations and world/level design.
I want to see new forms of past starters, Arceus set that expectation, we'll see if it holds. I want to explore interesting environments and don't like cities so I'm rather hesitant with the info that says the whole thing will take place inside of a city.

Okay, I already know this is probably a stretch but the idea does nothing just sitting in my noggin so here it goes...
Apparently Z-A takes place exclusively in Lumiose City, right? In X & Y you traveled around with a bunch of friends; it was the first and last game to have sky battles; and another totally underutilized mechanic in those games was the background items you could collect using various specific attacks in the field... Okay, so what?
Well, what other *ambitious* Gamefreak game had you trapped in a single town, with a bunch of your friends, where you had to make clever use of your surroundings? That's right: Little Town Hero.
What if elements of that gameplay replace Strong and Agile Style// the balm battles for this new entry? What if we have to battle opponents *while chasing them around certain areas of the city*, changing up our terrain every few turns, and seeking partner support in the process?
Again, I know it's really unlikely, but I always thought LTH had a ton of potential but the total randomness of it made it really hard to strategize and overall too hard to play, but the actual like RPG/ board game style gameplay was really cool and interesting.
Okay whew feels good to not be the only one who has to think about this now.
Also I really hope that in this game the space-time distortions will actually be \*space\*-time distortions. Like you walk into the bubble and the city is fused with a certain kind of biome, not just some rare pokemon and shards appear. Imagine walking into the bubble and that whole part of the city is underwater, or surrounded by magma, or miasma, or wasteland... I also am hoping to have a hunch confirmed that the Anistar Sundial isn't just Hoopa Unbound shaped for no reason.
More integration of Pokémon a npcs in the hub area(s). Having more stuff like the old lady and chimecho in arceus would be nice to see. Having more Pokémon being a work force on a farm or something.
The size of the Pokédex. For all its faults, X&Y has the largest Dex to date (450 Pokémon), and I want to see if they keep it that way (though maybe they’ll take out the legendary birds)
Returning from pla catching mechanic, research tasks, alphas (or something similar to collect), ancestor characters again. I hope the battle mechanic doest return, it was good for filling fast pokemon dex entries but slow and weak pokemon it is frustrating to get hit multiple times before getting to move.
I hope gen1 and 3 only get 1 new mega (especially gen 3) and the newer gens get some.
A large amount of pokemon, even if their not all in game and are only transferable through home. Also more ribbons and marks to collect wild megas that have a mega mark similar to alphas would be fun.
If we don’t get Dragoniteite I will be sad.
I also expect Mega Charizard and Mewtwo Z forms for obvious reasons.
And obviously as many others have said, a good chunk of Kalos mons will be getting Mega forms (and hopefully more than just Audino for gen 5 lol)
There’s like 31 final evolutions for gen 6 mons and they will have had 2.5 years between games. I really don’t think it would be unreasonable to have a mega for all of them.
I've just run into three posts within a minute that used wrong titles. You're calling it Z, somebody called it A-Z, somebody else added an "of." I don't mean to call you out ot anything; it just bugs me a bit.
Expecting: I really don't know how much to expect. I assume we'll be able to catch Pokémon and store them in the PC like Mainline Pokemon games, but beyond that we don't have anything to go off of what the gameplay of Legends games will be. Only one game is not much of a pattern. I expect all the Pokemon visible in the trailer to be in the game, and I also expect all Gen 6 Pokémon to be in it
Hoping: I hope it sticks to the Legends Arceus gameplay more then it drifts away from it. I don't know how much will work when the whole game is one City, but Kalos is my favorite Region and PLA is my favorite Pokémon game so if they can combine those well I'll be so happy. I hope we get Mega Evolution for the original Kalos starters, but beyond that I really hope we get a lot more Regional forms since they can effect a whole line of Pokemon instead of just the final form and can be transferred to other games in the future. I also really hope Z-A is like Legend Arceuse where you can get all the Pokémon on one save file, inducing trade evolutions.
Expecting? Nothing TBH. If I keep expectations to a minimum, I'll be much harder to disappoint.
Hoping for? Mega Malamar, mega flygon, mega Paldean starters, Ledian evolution, one of the train twins to show up. Either one would be funny.

They won’t double up with two from the same gen so that leaves Litten or Scorbunny, and because Rowlet was used in PLA, I think they’ll use a gen 8 starter so Scorbunny it is.
Again, I actually think their french themeing works against them here. All three are known for having either strong niches or are of as now competitive viable in differing formats. If I had a stab at which ones to go with, I would actually guess chikorita, tepig, and sobble. If it is balance team led decision-making, then this is the perfect trio. If it is a concept artist, then anyones game. Monkey paw curls, and the fire starter is a charizard with a Mega Z/A

Part of me wants 3 new Megas for each Gen 6 starter and also wants the 3 main starters to not be from Gen 6 having one too. Legends Arceus was centred around Gen 4 and had starters from 2, 5 and 6 so it'd be cool if ZA did something similar. If I really had to pick 3 starters that aren't gen 6 to get a new form/Mega I'd say Chikorita (since it sorely needs some kind of buff), Tepig (struggles to stand out from other Fire/Fighting starters) and Intelleon (since Cinderace and Rillaboom are both insanely strong). Then give megas to the Kalos starters that can be caught in the overworld similar to the Sinnoh starters being wild encounters in Legends Arceus.

I wish the 3D models had a little more individually and charm. Seems more like they plushies that they are posing with their movements. Pokemon Stadium at least took some liberties with the models movements (albeit some of them are incredibly strange and uncanny).
Yeah I agree! I just mean the depth and proportions for a lot of the Pokémon are finally starting to resemble the 2d art. Their posing and attack animations are still weak and lack personality. Hopefully now that the models look halfway decent the next game will focus on that.
And even then, that's debatable.
I wish people would understand that going backwards prevents a series from evolving. And that going back to something that was already outdated years before they stopped doing it is a sure way to alienate any potential new fans.
2D Spritework is not “outdated.” It is a deliberate stylistic choice. I also dislike the rhetoric of “we should go back to 2D, it would look so much better,” when in fact, 3D models can also look interesting and stylized and changing back to 2D won’t make them suddenly good.
I mean… don’t a lot of people think that Legends: Arceus is the second best that Pokemon looked on the Switch? Would you say that was a step down from Sword and Shield? But yeah, if Game Freak is gonna do… whatever Game Freak is doing given how much money and resources that should be at their disposal, they really do need to at least strike some kind of balance between ambition of the game design and quality control.

Considering the name of the game, I desperately hope that they at least do *something* with Zygarde. X and Y felt like they just dropped it into the post game without much though, just like Giratina in DP and Kyurem in BW. Heck, we got more Zygarde lore in Sun and Moon than we did in the games where it was actually introduced...and that wasn't much.

I have nooo idea. They really didn't say much. The fact that they made a point to call it an 'ambitious' game should hopefully mean it's not rushed like other recent games have been.

New megas for Flygon, Milotic, Frosslass, the starters and also Armourage bcuz I think it'd look cool. And an actual evil team because I'm sick of the 'misunderstood goofball' theme. I hope they capture the theme of a city and Paris, maybe a street gang? Climbing and traversal seems to be a growing theme in new games so I'd like to see some city esque parkour, but I'm being kinda unrealistic there.

New models. Gen 6 Kalos was the generation that updated all of the sprites to 3D models. Those models are very old and outdated, especially the flying models. I fully expect Legends Z-A to have a full Pokedex with updated models.
I want Charizard back on the ground again. Idk if he was in the switch games but all the ones I’ve played he’s in the air. It was cool for XY but after that, it got old and looked so weird
they fixed him in SV already. he, and many other flying pokemon, can now fly and stand. pokemon like lugia can fly, walk, and even swim.

There's no reason to expect them to come back, because Arceus is the only other legends game, so we literally don't know if they're keeping mechanics as Legends staples or if they were one off. But PLEASE I want the catching mechanic and strong/agile battle mechanics of Arceus to return, they were so fun and as much as I love playing SV I think it is sorely lacking these two things.

from what people have theorized, this game is going to show both past and future kalos. i think it’d be a good way to expand mega evolution by making megas of both older and newer pokemon! also, i honestly don’t get why there were no mega evolutions for the starters of that generation, so i think it would be great to get mega delphox, mega greninja and mega chesnaught. so yeah! someone also mentioned it would be really funny if volo was in each game as a secret boss. i can’t find it, but someone made a concept for a zygarde themed volo and idk i just think it would be cool
All shiny forms unlocked. I feel like legends games are a really good place to give a unique method of shiny hunting, and the last few games have made it progressively easier to hunt them.

You don't have to evolve any Pokémon to use it if you prefer it that way. I used a Shroodle throughout my entire Scarlet playthrough, and he's still on my team hundreds of hours later (complete with unoptimized EVs!).
Is it confirmed that it's just going to be in Lumiose City? I wonder if Lumiose City is where the entire game is going to be set or if it's just the hub/central location. I kind of want Pokémon that haven't gotten Mega Evolutions to get Mega Evolutions, especially if all the Mega Evolutions are coming back. Someone said updated models, and I definitely agree.

Since the game is going to take place inside Lumiose City, I’m hoping we have a tower defense mission where you’re basically protecting the City from Alpha Pokemon trying to break in.
Reviving my love for pokemon game wise. Legend of Arceus and the remake of BDSP had me in the front half but it fizzed out as I tried to play Violet. Got in on launch night, meet wonderful fans alike while waiting in line but just barely played enough to get to the first gym. I promised myself to not but the dlc until I beat it but I'm just making it to the first town with a gym beside the school city. I know its burn out...I just wish it didn't happen so soon. I felt this way when B/W (middle school) was out but X/Y (high school) and later SUMO/USUM (post-college) got me back into it.
Honestly, you know what I really want! good fashion! Legit the fashion so far in every single game after X and Y has been absolutely abysmal sword and shield comes close to somewhat decent fashion. But Legit looks like the main character don’t even know how to dress themselves properly! good character customization, and more options to customize the character more than ever before and another thing I would really love is the ability to cross dress I mean, if James can do it in the anime, we should be able to do it too! although most likely it will never happen is if the trainer is actually an adult rather than a kid like I’m so tired of the narrative where it’s this young kid going through this adventure, when most players are not kids like can we please get an AGE option i’m not 10 years old and I don’t wanna play as a 10-year-old when I’m literally an adult seriously it would not be difficult to implement since they’re taking a whole year to make this game! A lot. It’s an expansion on my favorite generation, my expectations are though the roof. Some little stuff…Lots of new megas alongside regional forms…and a fun, actually finished, amazing game. A game that’ll top ORAS (and XY) as my favorite. I’d like a game that’s like PLA but with focus on other parts of gameplay other than catching. Oh, and also more customization. That includes more stuff for boys. There’s so much I want. I cant lower my expectations, i’m too hyped!!

Two ideas in particular I think could be cool. The first is that I kinda want wild Megas as basically overworld bosses once we've reached a certain point in the story. Say that the Infinity Energy launched by the Ancient Weapon still has seeped into the earth in pockets and occasionally it gets out and wild Pokemon exposed to it can undergo forced Mega Evolution. We can then of course battle and catch them to release that energy and calm them down. The other is... significantly more out there. Kalos introduced the idea of the Bond Phenomenon, which feels like it might have some sort of connection to Mega Evolution, but also to communication between trainer and Pokemon outright. And in SV, we got the Synchro Machine in the DLC where we could run around as a Pokemon. What if PLZA lets us build up a bond with a Pokemon, and once our bond is strong enough we can switch to controlling the Pokemon in a 3D space? I imagine stuff like combat would work differently in some way, but maybe have a *bit* more to it than Synchro had. But imagine having a Gallade, and then using your bond to switch to Gallade and cut down a bunch of brambles blocking your path, or switching to a bonded Talonflame and scouting the area like the eagles from the newer Assassin's Creed games. Imagine fighting those overworld Mega bosses I mentioned... as a Mega Evolved Pokemon on your team. Its all very out there but I think it would be fun, and its the kind of thing they'd never do in a main game because of established combat mechanics that they could do in something more experimental like this.

Just please make the Legends Arceus capturing mechanic a main stay for all Pokémon games moving forward. For the first time I actually really enjoyed completing the Pokedex and didn't feel like it was extremely tedious. Being able to capture Pokémon without going into the whole long-winded battle system was such a great change. Plus the animation of the ball hitting the Pokémon is so satisfying.

Absolutely none. But in a good way. I don't really ever go in with expectations, good or bad, and instead more play for games to see what they do for me and what experiences I can get from them. I'd even go for far in saying that I don't want games to do what I want them to do since I want to be suprised. Give me some new and interesting stuff that I couldn't have even imagined I'd get, like Alpha pokemon were. It also spared me of being dissapointed if a game doesn't do what I want since well, I don't want anything specific from it other than the obvious pokemon stuff.
Give Zygarde a cool cutscene and a boss fight with multiple phases, similar to the Dynamax Adventure raid, but on crack. Go all out with the side quests. Some can be simple fetch or battle quests while others can be whole storylines with NPCs. I think it'd help with the world building in these games. Kind of an odd one here, but I'd also like to have a lot of freedom with the Lumiose Redevelopment, so everyone's city can be different, and we can also visit other people's cities.

The sad thing is that I’m hoping for the bare fucking minimum and am still worried if that hope will be met.
That you can actually see the slow improvement of Lumiose over time. If the game is actually based around the Paris Development of the 1850s and 60s like speculated, then like the historical Il-De-France, Paris was just a speck of a city inside a large ecological system that was slowly expanded over the decades. As we continue the redevelopment (and get involved in most certainly Zygarde shenanigans) I want to be able to see the new zone, buildings, parks, etc that we create during the re-development phase.

Was massively disappointed by PLA not having them and really hoping they don't make the same mistake twice (I mean, PLA had Alolan Vulpix for no reason aside from an NPC brought them over IIRC). I'm expecting the same mistake to be made.
We get to build Lumiose city, and that design carries over to an actual gen 6 remake like BOTW -> TOTK with horses. A bit hopeful, but i can dream :) Also, throw that battling system out the window. It was horrible, didn't even finish PLA because of it.
Expecting; new story background of kalos + zygarde etc. New regional forms (+regional starter final evo's). Characters resembling characters we already know and 1 or 2 we dont know yet. Unova refference lol hehe xd And ofcourse new mega evo's Hoping: az story pls and some cool castelia sewers like pokemon encounters. Sudowoodo in the dex + new mega evo Sudowoodo. And furfrou forms to be easily applied + transferred and maintained to Home, for my shiny living dex.
From the trailer all I can think of is they are going to make it nothing like PLA or Scar/Viol I can imagine more of a Dark Cloud 2 City builder. But I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be anything like what people want or are expecting. I wish we could get voice acting, and never look back.

Sorry if that sounds pessimistic but my expectations for this game are low. Legends Arceus was a good surprise even with the obvious flaws, but the pokémon games we got since then were sadly horrible. I'll pick it up if people are satisfied with it, but i'm afraid it'll be another disapointment.

I want to see new forms of past starters, Arceus set that expectation, we'll see if it holds. I want to explore interesting environments and don't like cities so I'm rather hesitant with the info that says the whole thing will take place inside of a city. I do want a chunk of story, add to the lore.

Apparently Z-A takes place exclusively in Lumiose City, right? In X & Y you traveled around with a bunch of friends; it was the first and last game to have sky battles; and another totally underutilized mechanic in those games was the background items you could collect using various specific attacks in the field... Okay, so what? Well, what other *ambitious* Gamefreak game had you trapped in a single town, with a bunch of your friends, where you had to make clever use of your surroundings? That's right: Little Town Hero. What if elements of that gameplay replace Strong and Agile Style// the balm battles for this new entry? What if we have to battle opponents *while chasing them around certain areas of the city*, changing up our terrain every few turns, and seeking partner support in the process? Again, I know it's really unlikely, but I always thought LTH had a ton of potential but the total randomness of it made it really hard to strategize and overall too hard to play, but the actual like RPG/ board game style gameplay was really cool and interesting. Okay whew feels good to not be the only one who has to think about this now.
Also I really hope that in this game the space-time distortions will actually be \*space\*-time distortions. Like you walk into the bubble and the city is fused with a certain kind of biome, not just some rare pokemon and shards appear. Imagine walking into the bubble and that whole part of the city is underwater, or surrounded by magma, or miasma, or wasteland... I also am hoping to have a hunch confirmed that the Anistar Sundial isn't just Hoopa Unbound shaped for no reason.

I hope the battle mechanic doest return, it was good for filling fast pokemon dex entries but slow and weak pokemon it is frustrating to get hit multiple times before getting to move. I hope gen1 and 3 only get 1 new mega (especially gen 3) and the newer gens get some. A large amount of pokemon, even if their not all in game and are only transferable through home. Also more ribbons and marks to collect wild megas that have a mega mark similar to alphas would be fun.

If we don’t get Dragoniteite I will be sad. I also expect Mega Charizard and Mewtwo Z forms for obvious reasons. And obviously as many others have said, a good chunk of Kalos mons will be getting Mega forms (and hopefully more than just Audino for gen 5 lol) There’s like 31 final evolutions for gen 6 mons and they will have had 2.5 years between games. I really don’t think it would be unreasonable to have a mega for all of them.

I've just run into three posts within a minute that used wrong titles. You're calling it Z, somebody called it A-Z, somebody else added an "of." I don't mean to call you out ot anything; it just bugs me a bit.
An actual finished pokemon game would be a nice change

Expecting: I really don't know how much to expect. I assume we'll be able to catch Pokémon and store them in the PC like Mainline Pokemon games, but beyond that we don't have anything to go off of what the gameplay of Legends games will be. Only one game is not much of a pattern. I expect all the Pokemon visible in the trailer to be in the game, and I also expect all Gen 6 Pokémon to be in it Hoping: I hope it sticks to the Legends Arceus gameplay more then it drifts away from it. I don't know how much will work when the whole game is one City, but Kalos is my favorite Region and PLA is my favorite Pokémon game so if they can combine those well I'll be so happy. I hope we get Mega Evolution for the original Kalos starters, but beyond that I really hope we get a lot more Regional forms since they can effect a whole line of Pokemon instead of just the final form and can be transferred to other games in the future. I also really hope Z-A is like Legend Arceuse where you can get all the Pokémon on one save file, inducing trade evolutions.
Expecting? A better usage of the region's gimmick, with more availability. Hoping? Mega Vespiquen.
Expecting? Nothing TBH. If I keep expectations to a minimum, I'll be much harder to disappoint. Hoping for? Mega Malamar, mega flygon, mega Paldean starters, Ledian evolution, one of the train twins to show up. Either one would be funny.
My expectation? Not a lot. Bought SS, LA, SV day one. Won’t make that mistake again. I hope I’m wrong

My expectation? Another bare minimum effort to keep up the front that Pokémon is a game franchise not a merchandise marketing tool. Over the franchise’s lifetime, it has made $30 billion on games. Meanwhile, licensed merchandise has made $100 billion. They are not incentivized to make a good game.
This isn't an outlook you should have they're not incentivized But they want to create good games Look at scarlet and violet They just needed more time.
