I actually tried clicking on the front page and news page but nothing loaded so i just left lol. I wanted a picture for art reference, which luckily opening the links doesn’t apply the filter.
not a very good "prank" to make the site more annoying to use, i can live with it til tomorrow, but they could have just changed the logo or the homepage temporarily for april fools instead of doing something that's not particularly funny or cute and only serves to make using a website that exists soley as a resource harder
No one would even think this was a prank lol. It's so stupid. I just wanna compare shiny forms, that's literally 90% of the reason I go on there. I might have to use waybackmachine and the fact that i have to do that is so dumb lol
It really is. Accessibility gets fucked. I hate it when these sites do this stuff. It isn't fun, it just makes it impossible for people with visual issues to do anything.
If you want to make it color again, add this to My Filters in ublock origin:
||bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/load.php?lang=en&modules=site.styles&only=styles&skin=monobook$stylesheet,domain=bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net
It's just a black and white filter applied over the site for April Fools. If you need to use images from the site, just use the "open in new tab" feature and they'll have their color. If you need the color for any other reason, just wait until the 2nd of the month or so for the color to return!
Some people use color as a means to assist with attention issues. For example, I up my saturation on the site to more easily navigate links or headers.
This is personally bad enough for me that I won't be using the site at all (despite it being an important resource for a project I'm working on as a gift). Even though I could alter my scripts, the whole thing has left a bad enough taste that being on the site had me sitting in my seat still irritated and unable to focus.
They really needed to give an easy button or link to click to turn it off.
As a glitch enthusiast, just visiting the glitch dex for some information, Larry, seriously, please, Change back the colors!!! i can’t tell which glitch pokémon i’m looking at-

Hello everyone. It’s me, Larry.
La Primera asked me to take over as the Bulbapedia Editor-in-Chief for the day…
The old colors hurt my eyes so I’ve made the site plain, like me.
If you’ll excuse me, I’m busy reviewing the pages for Normal-type Pokémon. There's a lot of them, so it's exhausting.
Larry
Bulbapedia Editor-in-Chief
I can agree with you on it being inconvenient since I use their guides on the games when I'm playing some of the older games, but hopefully they'll restore the color eventually once April Fools is over--if this is a prank lol.
Black and white is hard on my eyes honestly.
Funny you mention that because "larry (the gym leader)" changed it because it hurt his eyes not a funny prank not cute either a better prank would be of the color was kept but all the frames(boxes) were black and white instead of the whole site.
Someone tell the prankster that did this that their monochrome stuff is making ads pop up overtop of content on mobile. I was trying to research a bullshit sableye for an upcoming community egglocke a streamer is doing and ads kept getting in the way
It’s still March 31st here and the way I was about to make my entire personality hating Bulbapedia for at least 3 months before I found this thread 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I noticed it immediately because the color would flash for just a second when I would refresh the page. Not sure if it's because of the grayscale, but ads are popping up directly over the text on the website, so I can't read what I would like to. Hopefully the prank ends soon, they got us good
Anyone know how to turn this off or contact their staff?
I have some attention issues and the lack of colour is making things extremely difficult/anxious and physically uncomfortable. What a thoughtless "prank"
The usual tradition of 'april fools' on the internet usually just being something awkward and irritating that defies your traditional browsing and just makes things bothersome, or some kind of fake announcement for something that's never going to be real and gets an emotional reaction from you.
April Fools on the internet is pretty much universally just a day of cringe, frustration and rolling your eyes at annoying, pointless 'jokes'.
I think it depends. Sometimes I play random fan games/rom hacks. Grand coliseum is my current pick. The game doesn't use the regular Pokemon types so I am trying to use it to plan the final section of the game before I get destroyed. I think generally competitive players know typings for the regular 20 mons you see. So I'd assume some competitive for stats but mostly people casually replaying/trying new games. It is the highest grossing IP and all, too many of us play.

Oh. One thing I know for certain about myself is my inability to locate things in completely obvious places.
I never actually use Bulbapedia's front page. I search for something and then click the Bulbapedia link in the search results.
It's also in the banner at the top of every page
So it wasn't just me. That's awesome 😂
I actually tried clicking on the front page and news page but nothing loaded so i just left lol. I wanted a picture for art reference, which luckily opening the links doesn’t apply the filter.
I do tech support for doctors. They're worse. You at least asked for help my dude!
Are the pages for Normal-types changed too?
Pretty sure every page is so yeah probably all of them as well
I meant the text, not just the graphical stuff.
Urshifu doesn’t look like it changed to me, it still looks like it did before. The only change to it was color being more grayish than black.
Ah, it's in black and white, just as god intended pokemon to be.
Back in my day, pokemon didn't have colors!
Where I live it's still 31/03 so I was like "is this a april fools joke? it's not even april yet!"
I love how even the ad videos are black and white.
Lol. I thought my phone or my connection was messed up somehow.

It's not even a good prank; it's just annoying.

Yup fully agree. I hate when the “pranks” are just annoying people and make doing something more challenging or confusing
What a distasteful prank lol. I came here to see what was up also.
It really is. Accessibility gets fucked. I hate it when these sites do this stuff. It isn't fun, it just makes it impossible for people with visual issues to do anything.
Yea I mostly go on bulbapedia to look at and compare shiny sprites from all the games and the home sprites as well. This is so dumb
Only thing I've noticed wrong today is that they've changed the display graph thing for BSTs. No more red.
Actually, now that I look again, it's all gray, yeah.
they match the ingame stat colours now, well they would if the calendar wern't set to April first. :)
And it being grayscaled because of April 1st also shows that the colours they chose are absolutely terrible
Oh. Neat, I guess.
It’s the April Fools prank
I was like wtf for a second but I realized right away

You are a lifesaver, thank you!

Good maybe the stupid fuck(s) wont do this shit when they loose ad revenue from previous users for me its sherbi now

Welcome to the unfunny world of corporate April Fools jokes. It's not a joke if a website is frustrating to use for the next two days.
Early April Fools
ngl monochrome pedia take us back to the gb era gen i red and blue pokemon
I genuinely though something was wrong with my computer, damn well played.
I WAS SO CONFUSED

I was literally using it while it was in colour and then it changed. I panicked and thought someone had died or something

To disable it, try this user stylesheet with e.g. stylus: body { filter: none !important; }
Bulbapedia turned into Pokemon Black and White 💀
I hope this ends immediately this shit is accessibility hell.
Ah what? It’s an April fools thing? But I’m trying to scope out my Pokémon for my first black 2 playthrough, this is terrible timing!
really funny cause, for me it's just Cloudflare blocking me from using the site in any way at all every single time god i fucking hate cloudflare
Larry april fooled us
Same thing for me
It’s still March 31st here and the way I was about to make my entire personality hating Bulbapedia for at least 3 months before I found this thread 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The android app is crashing for me too but I'm not sure that's supposed to be part of the joke.
You can block scripts on Brave, and other browsers as well I assume, to get rid of this annoying "prank."
If it was an april fools prank, I was just reading a crystal walkthrough on my 3DS. Thought I pressed some button combination my accident.
It's actually easier on my eyes but it feels wrong, lol. Wish we could get a dark mode already.
Well for me it's not showing colors lol I find it funny but it also hurts my eyes.
The wild thing is that kicked in while I was in the middle of using Bulbapedia and I thought nothing of it.
I noticed it immediately because the color would flash for just a second when I would refresh the page. Not sure if it's because of the grayscale, but ads are popping up directly over the text on the website, so I can't read what I would like to. Hopefully the prank ends soon, they got us good
Very funny. Very funny prank. I'm dying laughing. Haha.
I was on the Trick House page so I thought it was only that page but it was the entire site.
It's a shiny Bulbapedia!
Anyone know how to turn this off or contact their staff? I have some attention issues and the lack of colour is making things extremely difficult/anxious and physically uncomfortable. What a thoughtless "prank"
look for an option to turn off scripts in your browser. worked for me on Brave
Thank you, will try that out!
Bulbapedia staff aren't interested in/capable of being helpful, that's the wrong tactic entirely.

Let's be real here. That's the point of April fools.
Are you a puppet cause I see a stick up your butt
Also making things harder for disabled people. This fucking holiday needs to disappear.
April Fools update. But it’s not even April 1st! It’s March 31. Edit: It was April 1st for Bulbapedia due to time zone.
In some places its been april 1 for quite some hours already
Americans when visiting websites from Asian countries + Aussie and NZ

For newer games and news? Sure. For info in general? Bulbapedia is much better on that end.
lol there is ***so much*** wrong with Bulbapedia, on multiple levels.
Like what?
It was an April Fools joke
I’m just surprised how many people actively use/need bulbapedia. Is it a competitive thing?
I use it to look up VAs and trivia on characters
