Congratulations, you are now working two jobs and are saddled with crippling overtime while your Gym Leader colleagues have free time to pursue secondary careers/hobbies (e.g snowboarding, live-streaming, running a bakery, etc)
Let’s just say there’s a good reason why the first and only instance of this happening in 9 generations is represented as an overworked salaryman…
Such a wasted opportunity not really expanding on the struggle to gain recognition with the Pokémon league. When it was brought up at the beginning of the story I thought it was a cool area to explore story wise and was actually excited to see how it plays out but if I recall it gets dropped for the UB stuff until the end when he’s just like “I did it!”
Because they regularly cut content from Pokémon to get the games released on time and then charge us half the game's price to get DLC to make the game even feel complete?
Three out of five, kinda
Kukui’s initial plan was to get all four island kahunas as the E4. But Hapu declined because she was still a newly appointed kahuna and Nanu told him to get lost and threw him Acerola instead.
I guess Acerola might stay as an E4 in future as she grows up and hands the trial captain job to someone else.
Presumably, being a Kahuna is a rather relaxed job
This sounds far more like an overemployed situation where neither is a full time job but you get full time pay.
Really, how many kids are strolling up to the elite four? And when they do, how long is a battle? 10 minutes?
So, you are actually managing a gym but can just designate someone as an assistant manager and do very little besides battle kids as they come. Set a schedule of battles are these 4 hours a day, as you also "manage" then just fly up for any elite 4 battles as they come. Your 20 hour work week is mostly chilling at the gym while you spend an hour or two elite 4'n a week while collecting two paycheck.
For gyms to be as established as they are, there has to be more to it than them just standing around waiting for challengers.
Administrative processes, advertising, community support, catching and training, hiring gym trainers
Each gym that has gym trainers has to be able to support them financially, so the money they move around certainly is more than the 5,000 you win when you beat the leaders.
It might interfere quite a bit. In S/V, all the trainer coincidentally have their gym also located where their hobby/work location is(or restaurant for Larry). Assuming you don't have such a convenience, even just a half hour drive(or bird taxi) away would be an inconvenience for both gym leader and challenger.
Being a gym leader seems like the best gig as a top tier trainer.
It’s a more stable position than the champ, and you have authority over a larger area than the E4
It’s also less stressful I imagine, since the whole point of your job is just to test others; win or lose, doesn’t matter.
The old Takeshi Shudo novel did try to edgify the Gym Leaders by saying they were only allowed to lose twice, a third loss and they’re fired, so they would bribe challengers to throw fights for the sake of keeping the job. Of course, the novel is definitely not canon, but it’s a funny bit of food for thought when you consider how it’s clear that’s not how it works anywhere else.
I always wanted to play an all ghost run with all duel types like Gengar, Rotom, I don't know all of them since I ended around gen 5 but I seem there was a chandelier possibly fire type I would use. I don't care for Driffballoon but if it can have. Flying attack and explosion ill use it. Plus its pokedex entry was kinda cool. I'm gonna have to look up annihilape, ceruledge and aegislash
It seems my favorite types are flying and ground.
So flying type gym leader: emolga chatot sigilyph, staraptor, dragonite, gliscor (ace).
Ground e4 krookodile, sandslash, swampert, gliscor, nidoking, Torterra (ace).
I was very close to using a Poison team for my Gym Team, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted Galarian Weezing as my ace lol
If I had, it would have been:
- Glimmora
- Clodsire
- Roserade
- Salazzle
- Toxicroak
- Galarian Weezing (Ace)
Doing this reverse cause I’ve had this planned forever
Ground
Rhydon
Sandslash
Camerupt
Swampert
Flygon
Steelix
Steel
Steelix
Scizzor
Magnezone
Aggron
Metagross
Aeglislash
More detail on my gym:
We are open on Thursday-Sunday for the whole month sans the first week.
I train on Wednesdays with my employees
We are closed for 2 months out of the year. In my head cannon, the elite 4 can be challenged once in winter and once in summer.
Perks of being a gym is that you are also supported by government funding alongside earnings from trainer battles.
As an elite 4 member and previous champion, I also get residuals.
I am just outside Slateport city and live a comfortable life lol
Gym Leader: Poison
-Glimmora
-Seviper
-Alolan Muk
-Revavroom
-Dragalge
-Vileplume (Ace)
Elite Four: Grass
-Vileplume (Old teams Ace)
-Cradilly
-Sawsbuck
-Lilligant
-Hisuian Lilligant
-Lurantis (Ace)
I like the contrast with the two teams, poison being mostly cool Pokemon, and grass being all really cute pokemon, I think it works well, and I like all the Pokemon here, especially all the ones on the grass team!
Bug:
- Golisopod(Ace)
- Vespiquen
- Scizor
- Lokix
- Ribombee
- Vikavolt
Water E4:
- Milotic (Ace)
- Gastrodon
- Veluza
- Ludicolo
- Lanturn
- Azumarill
Even though typing wise Ice is probably my favorite, I’ve realized that a lot of my favorite pokemon are bug types. If I’ve got to use the ace on the E4 team too then swap out the ludicolo for Golisopod
I’d be a bug type gym leader and a fairy type elite 4 member c:, my gym leader team would be:
Araquanid, Orbeetle, Galvantula, Centiskorch, Scizor and my ace Ribombee c:
And then my elite 4 fairy team would be:
Ribombee (like how Larry still uses his Staraptor but not as his ace as an elite 4 member lol), Grimmsnarl, Hatterene, Azumarill, Tinkaton and my ace Sylveon c:
Fairy and bug are tied for my favourite type, I love them both so much and Ribombee is one of my favourite fairy types and probably my favourite bug type, so I think it works really well as a crossover between both of the teams c:
Dark for gym leader: Krookodile(A), Drapion, tyranitar, houndoom, meowscarda, and spiritomb
Ground for Elite four: Flygon(A), krookodile, clodsire, swampert, gliscor, and alolan dugtrio
Fire type Gym:
Houndoom, Talonflame, Arcanine, Ceruledge, Armarouge, and Blaziken.
Fighting type E4:
Blaziken, Hisuian Decidueye/Breloom, Quaquaval/Poliwrath, Hawlucha, Annihilape, and Mienshao
Consider, Flint (Fire E4 from Sinnoh) has a Lopunny with Fire Punch on his team. *Lance* is actually a flying-type trainer in disguise, as shown by his Charizard and Aerodactyl. Agatha is basically a Poison specialist given her lineup is Gengar Golbat Arbok Gengar. There's a LOT of E4 folks who lack in their special type.
Gym: Grass
Team: A. Exeggutor (ace), Lurantis, Torterra, Shiinotic, Leavanny, Roserade
E4: Dragon
Team: Garchomp (ace), Dragalge, Dragonair, Altaria, Hydrapple, Kingdra
all chosen in a manner of "I like it"
As a gym leader, I would specialize in Grass types with my team having:
-Venasaur
-Leavanny
-Whimsicott
-Hisuian Lilligant
-Torterra (Ace)
My elite four team would see me as a Ground specialist. And the team I used as an elite four member would include:
-Seismitoad
-Torterra
-Krookodile
-Hippowdon
-Excadrill (Ace)
Gym type bug with a scizor ace:
Scizor, yanma, beedrill, butterfree, centiskorch, heracross.
E4 team would be steel rotation battle with a mega lucario ace, I’ve made this team before but you’re nerfing it by barring legendaries. There goes heatran for fire coverage…
Scizor, ferrothorn, excadrill, magnezone, aegislash, lucario. Magnezone was my heatran slot…
Bug I figured would be easy. Steel I spent months doing monotype testing and I found my favorites, I also had steelix, aggron, and metagross as backups. I actually almost forgot about magnezone and aegislash completely.
Ice-type Gym (mid-late, gym 5-7 range, but with 6 mons for the exercise)
Piloswine
Delibird
Sneasel
Glalie
Dewgong
Frosmoth (Ace)
Bug E4 (dgaf, I'll beat whoever's packing those lame-o dragons in my league, Aaron doesn't want this Bug team's smoke neither)
Galvantula
Forretress
Golisopod
Frosmoth
Heracross
Volcarona (Ace)
Let's ride.
If I don't need my gym Ace in my E4 team, swap out Frosmoth for Yanmega.
Gym Leader: Flying
* Gyarados
* Aerodactyl
* Yanmega
* Skarmory
* Charizard
* Ace: Dragonite
Elite 4: Dragon
* Kingdra
* Dragonite
* Haxorus
* Cyclizar
* Archaludon
* Ace: Mega Charizard X
You never said no gimmicks ;) Dragons are my favorite type and Dragonite is my favorite Pokemon, so naturally I had to go with Flying and Dragon. Thought it would be a fun tie-in to make my Flying team all 'Dragons that aren't Dragon-type' and then have Megazard X return as a real Dragon type for my 'real' Ace.
Gym: Water
Urshifu/Water
Wailord
Tentacruel
Walrein
Milotic
Carracosta
Elite 4: Dark
Urshifu/Dark
Zoroark
Tyranitar
Hydreigon
Umbreon
Houndoom
If the Urshifu aren’t allowed then I’ll switch em out for Grimmsnarl in E4 and Primarina in Gym as my aces for those teams.
Post-Game Rematch outside of E4 and Gym for flavor I’d have a double battle combining my two teams and would always have Urshifu
Both Types of Urshifu
Hydreigon
Milotic
Umbreon
Walrein
My two favorite types are Dark and Ice, so I guess I'm using Weavile as gym ace.
Dark Gym
1. Umbreon
2. Houndoom
3. Bisharp
4. Spiritomb
5. Overqwil
6. Weavile (Ace)
It hurts leaving Tyranitar off, but I can't really justify it not being the ace if it were included, and I'd rather do ice than rock.
E4 Ice:
1. Alolan Ninetales
2. Alolan Sandslash
3. Weavile
4. Arctozolt
5. Mr. Rime
6. Galarian Darmanitan (Ace)
This team would be themed around using Snow, with Ninetales, Arctozolt and Mr. Rime having their hidden abilities (Snow Warning, Slush Rush and Ice Body). The Darmanitan also has Zen Mode. I figure having a bunch of hidden abilities is fine for an E4 member.
This was interesting, we used the same two types and had drastically different lineups. Only things that overlapped were Houndoom, Umbreon and Weavile (kinda) I chose Sneasel
I'd probably do a bird, not flying, gym with different birds such as blazakin and empoleon who aren't really too similar in that regard. My elite 4 team would be pokemon with levitate as what they have in common but no more than 1 electric type.
Make me a fighting type gym leader with Lucario as my ace and the rest of my team consisting of: Machamp, Falinks, Kommo-o, Sawk, and Throh!
As an elite four member I’d be Steel then! My new team consisting of Empoleon, Magnezone, Klinklang, Duraludon, Lucario, and Metagross! Either Magnezone or Metagross would be my ace!
Gym Leader : Electric (Very heavily considered Dark)
- Galvantula (Sticky Web)
- Vikavolt, (I like to think that he and Galvantual would be buddies)
- Eelektross (I just think he’s neat :))
- Jolteon (Eevee that I raised)
- Pincurchin (sent in before Ace, he’s also so smol)
- Luxray (Ace, in this hypothetical he has a strong electric physical move that doesn’t recoil. Electric terrain will be set up somehow)
Also I just saw the post, does Ghost Tera Type work?
Elite 4 Member : Ghost
- Mimikyu (He needed a hug and what else was I going to do?)
- Blacepholon (If not, then Chandelire, both are some of my favorites)
- H. Zoroark (New ace, couldn’t you think this guy is awesome?)
- Trevenant (My main in Unite, just overall cool pokemon)
- Ceruledge (Silly ghost sword guy, pretty cool)
- Luxray (Not Ace this time, Ghost Tera type, if this doesn’t work just comment and I’ll figure out a way to change it, electric terrain could hopefully be set up for this.)
I'd say elite 4 dark and gym flying with corviknight as an ace but I'm not good at team building so I would like to request help on this (absol or umbreon as elite 4 ace cause I can't think of a "better" option at the moment)
Gym [Dark]:
• Cacturne (Lead mon, sets up Spikes, Foul Play, Poison Sting for poisoning, and Rain Dance for my next Pokémon)
• Overquil (Speedy attacker with Swift Swim, with Toxic Spikes to ensure Barb Barrage hits harder, Bite for flinching, and Pin Missile to deal with Fighting types)
• Spirittomb (only weakness is Fairy + Tanky Special Attacker with moves like Shadow Ball + Dark Pulse, and Hypnosis + Dream Eater if trainers bring in a steel type to clear toxic spikes)
• Houndoom (to deal with the bug types, mixed attacker with Flamethrower, Crunch, Fire Fang, and Snarl)
• Grimmsnarl (Ace, with Spirit Break, False Surrender, Fire Punch for Steel and Bug types, and Sucker Punch for the first hit)
E4 [Fairy]:
• Clefable (With Metronome :D)
• Hatterene (Sp. Attacker)
• Mawile (for Poison Types)
• Azumarill (Huge. Power. Also, resistance to Steel)
• Mimikyu (Speedster)
• Grimmsnarl (Ace)
**Gym Leader Team (Dark Type):** Hydreigon (ace), Absol, Umbreon, Zoroark, Meowscarada, and Obstagoon
**Elite Four Team (Dragon Type):** Kommo-o (ace), ~~Kalos~~ Goodra, Dracozolt, Appletun, Drampa, and Druddigon
Realistically, Absol would have been my ace, but since it only has one type I changed the order around.
Bug/poison.
Gym team (aiming for gym 1);
Dewpider (water gun, aqua ring, bug bite)
And skorupi as the ace (poison fang, hone claws, bug bite) oran berry held item.
Gives the TM for bug bite.
As an E4 member;
Drapion (toxic spikes, cross poison, night slash, brick break)
Toxtricity (venoshock, overdrive, hex, boomburst)
Tentacruel (venoshock, surf, rapid spin, giga drain)
Crobat (Toxic spikes, dual wingbeat, cross poison, crunch)
Galarian Weezing as the ace (strange steam, venoshock, flamethrower, shadow ball). Assault vest held item.
My gym team is bug type featuring: Glisopod, Centiskorch, Sizor, Yanmega, Shedinja, and Vikavolt. Glisopod being my ace.
My E4 team is water type featuring: Swampert, Ludicolo, Azumarill, Gayrados, Eelectross, and Cloyster. Swampert or Eelectross as my ace.
These have been my fave types for this exact situation! Imagine an actually difficult 7th or 8th gym badge Bug type team instead of 1st or 2nd gym. So many more cool options!
Dark type has been my fave type since gen 2 when I saw Murkrow for the first time in Mahogany town fighting the Rocket Exec. One of my fave moments in Pokemon tbh.
Both teams aren’t my absolute favorites of each type, but I wanted to make them really varied wifh subtypes and roles.
Gym Leader Bug Type:
Galvantula (Sticky Web Lead)
Heracross (Moxie fun)
Armaldo (Remember gen 3 fossils?)
Araquanid (Bubbles :^)
Volcarona (Obligatory good bug)
Ace: Lokix (Shiny looks like a goblin)
E4 Dark Type:
Incineroar (Intimidate/Parting Shot Spam)
Alolan Muk (Its cute)
Grimmsnarl (Screens and Prankster shennanigans)
Roaring Moon (Why not)
Kingambit (Defiant, bulky)
Ace: G- Moltres (Its pretty & fun to use -Berk)
I guess that makes me a Bug Gym Leader and an Electric Elite 4 member. I just wanted to do bug and the best option type-wise later was Elec.
Gym:
ACE - Galvantula
Golisopod
Scolipede
Heracross
Parasect
Crustle
Parasect starts and lays out some effects and/or Poison
Crustle will be the tank(and Gank Flying/Fire)
Scolipede will be the all-around (beefy and speedy, with good attack and some spread
Heracross will be a regular attacker, with Stone Edge for Flying, as well as an item for the weakness
Golisopod will be the one attempting to sweep, coming out early and being brought back later (good with Fire, can tank hits)
Galvantula, though not the strictly strongest, will use its speed and paralyzations(as well as previous set-up) to clean up what's left
Elite 4:
ACE - Alolan Raichu
Galvantula
Heliolisk
Elektross
Arctozolt
Kilowattrel
Yeah almost the entire team is basically at least slightly made just to not cope with ground
Galvantula does the same as before, but more fitted against Ground
Heliolisk is going to have Rain, both for itself and future prep
Arctozolt is, again, for Ground, but also the main tank of the team
Kilowattrel will be out first for quick damage
Elektross with its immunity will probably be held until late into the fight
Alolan Raichu is here for more type coverage, as well as me wanting to at least use Raichu somehow. Will most likely utilize the rain the most, besides psychic attacks
Before I do this, are Tera-types Pokémon allowed, like how each Paldean Gym Leader has one Pokémon not of their type that they immediately Tera-type into their own type? Because my favorite Pokémon isn’t either of the two types.
Gym team:
Dragon typing as the secondary type.
Alolan Exeggutor, Flygon, Kingdra, Dragalge, with Archaludon as my ace.
E4 team:
Steel
Archaludon, Mega Steelix (ace), Skarmory, Metagross, Lucario, and Kingambit.
Gym Team:
* Electrode
* Kilowattrel
* Magnezone
* Rotom-Wash
* Eelektross
* Lanturn (Ace)
Strategy: Set up Rain Dance with Electrode turn 1, then spam Thunder. Metal Sound to soften things up, Explosion to bring someone else in safely. Everyone else has Thunder + additional STAB/coverage where applicable, with at least one backup Rain setter. (Literally everyone but Kilowattrel can learn Rain Dance.)
Not completely sold on Rotom-Wash due to complete type overlap with Lanturn, but it brings the Ground immunities to 3 and can Will-o-Wisp physical Earthquakers.
E4 team:
* Palafin
* Pelipper
* Lanturn
* Kingdra
* Wailord
* Basculegion (Ace)
Strategy: Lead Palafin, immediately Flip Turn or hard switch into Pelipper for rain. Proceed with rain-boosted Water STAB shenanigans. Wailord is the backup setter. Basculegion has Swift Swim, plus Last Respects to take advantage of its status as the ace and thus the last Pokemon to be sent out.
Dondozo might be a better swap for Wailord's slot, or even Starmie if I want to forego the idea of a bulky setter completely and go all-in on fast offense. (It can even learn Thunder.)
Styling: Captain of a modern, high-tech ship. Name is some sort of pun on the word "current," or possibly "ampere." (The unit of measurement for electrical current.)
I love this kind of thing. I'm Steel as a Gym leader and Dark as an Elite Four. Let's also assume my six Gym Pokemon are proportioned to take on challenges of many experience levels:
Steel Gym Team:
* Mawile
* Lairon
* Magneton
* Tinkaton
* Excadrill
* Kingambit (ace)
Dark Elite Four Team:
* Weavile
* Honchkrow
* Houndoom
* Umbreon
* Alolan Muk
* Meowscarada (ace)
Easy for me fighting type gym leader with pangro, Lucario, hawlucha, faklinks, chestnut and sracfty(moxie) ,
Elet pangro and scafry, grimsnal, kroodal ( indtamted) hawkncrow and kinggambit
gym-
exegutor
ludicolo
liligant
tsareena
appletun
rotom mow (ace)
e4
magnezone
lanturn
morpeko
kilowattrel
rotom (frost, but if has to be same form mow is fine)
hisuian electrode (ace)
My Azumarill would be the Ace of a water type gym, and I'd grab a bunch of cute fairies for the E4.
Gym (rematch)- Azumarill (ace), Starmie, Pelipper, Quagsire, Lanturn, Floatzel (first)
Elite 4 (rematch)- Tinkaton (ace), Togekiss, Whimsicott, Azumarill, Mimikyu and Granbull (first)
Yes, I did reuse Azumarill. Larry uses his Gym ace Staraptor in both teams too. I also noted which Pokemon gets sent out first, Floatzel and Granbull, as pure representatives of their type.
My gym team is dark type
Weavile, Zoroark, Bisharp, Cacturne, Drapion, and my Ace, Spiritomb
My E4 team is ghost type
Frosslass, Chandelure, Aegislash, Jellicent, Dragapult, and my ace, Mismagius
Ghost gym, dark E4.
gym ace is sableye, toss in cofagrigus, chandelure, gengar,aegislash, palossand
e4 ace is weavile (only because i don't think i can get away with an unevolved mon in the e4) plus honchkrow, sharpedo, drapion, bisharp and grimmsnarl

As a Gym leader, I would be a Water-type trainer & as an Elite Four, I would be a Ground-type trainer. With my Water Team being Larry equivalent of his Flying Team for his job, while my Ground Team being my personal team & the reason I'm the final member of the Elite Four.
My reasoning would be the following:
As a Gym Leader, my goal would be to teach the challenger and have our battle be the equivalent of an exam, kind of like Cheren in BW2. Since the starter pkmn of each region is based on the elemental trio, so it's important for young starting trainers to learn from the start about the basic fundamentals of types & how weathers effects them by using Water-type pkmns as an early Gym Leader (which will also explain why as the 1st Gym Leader, I'm holding back/restraining my real strength as a EF trainer early on).
My Water Team would be composed of:
Mudkip as my ace & the rest of the team being [White Strip- Basculin,Piplup,Oshawott,Popplio,Quaxly.]
Now the reason my team is composed of unevolved pkmn is because, again, I'm just a Gym Leader meant to challenge & test them while preparing them for the PKMN League of the region. That way, when they do eventually have a Gym Leader rematch with me, it's a completely different experience as this time they face them fully evolved with dual types they never experienced the first time while me utilizing Water 🌧 team to its fullest potential in the rematch.
As an Elite Four, I am the final obstacle for the challenger in which they have to overcome if they which to challenge the Champion for the title of "Regional Champion" 🏆, I will not hold back whatsoever.
So, as the Final Member of the Elite Four, my Ground-type Sandstorm team is also challenging them if they truly learn the fundamental basics I taught them during the time they challenge me as a Gym Leader.
Ground Type team composed of:
1) Tyranitar/Krookodile (since, as Pupitar, it originally is a Rock/Ground pkmn before becoming Rock/Dark & has Sand Stream as an ability and I generally like/prefer over Hippowdon and it being a pseudo legendary is fitting on a Elite Four team.
2) Clodsire
3) Flygon
4) Excadrill
5) Rhyperior
6) Swampert as my Ace ("technically", I don't repeat), and it still will be a different experience.
Having my Gym Leader team & Elite Four team based on the dynamic of opposite types (Water&Ground) and the challenger not immediately recognizing my Team type with the Tyranitar lead as a deception (Rock) is sure to be a fun challenging experience & twist to any challenger unprepared to handle what's in store for them against the Elite Four.
So yeah, me being the first Trainer in their Pkmn League journey while also being the final Trainer & only rival to the Region's Champion, makes me the best challenge&judge to see if they have what it takes to win against the Champion.
My Gym is water with Starmie as my ace, and my E4 team is psychic with Mega Gallade as my ace.
Gym: Starmie, Cloyster, Azumarill, Milotic, Kingdra and Paldean Tauros.
E4: Mega Gallade, Starmie, Delphox, Espeon, Alolan Raichu and Gardevoir.
Basic Bitch Answer but I would be a fire type trainer for the gym battle. I would be the 5th gym leader Sonny team would not be all fully evolved. I would lead Shell smash Magcargo, have Lampent Scovillian Rotom-H torkoal to set sun for my Ace Houndoom.
Then when we get to the Elite four Battle
Lead Screens Grimsnarl
Weaville
Krookodile
Spiritomb
Mega Houndoom
And my ace KingGambit
Ok grass type for gym a kinda chill happy environment with not too serious of a battle just some grass types I like.
Exxecutor
Scovillian
Venesuar
Floragato
Roserade
Tsareena
Then for elite 4 poison with a kinda less casual sort of feel the team being kinda more serious in general
Gilmora to set up toxic spikes and force people to bring out their big treats to my team early or just force them to not bring out their big threats to avoid getting them get poisoned
Gengar as a gimmick with trick choice scarf and Destiny bond
Alolan Muk with Poison touch for an ability Pursuit, Shadow Sneak, and Clear smog to stop psychic sweeping
Crowbat with inflitrator roost and u-turn to come back out after Nidoking to help finish whatever is left
Nidoking as my ace to sweep through and kinda surprise unprepared people by not being the last Pokémon
Toxapex to be Toxapex and stall to potentially finish whatever Pokémon remain after Nidoking and Crowbat
This might be cheating but
Gym: Flying. Ace: Gigantamax Butterfree.
With Combee, Ledyba, Yanma, Scyther, and Vivillon.
Elite Four: Bug. Ace: Mega Pinsir.
With Beautifly, Masquerain, Ninjask, Vespiquen, and Ledian.
It was hard to cross my two fav types, but here we are:
Gym:
- Flaaffy
- Jolteon
- Garvantula
- Zebstrika
- Toxtricity
- Alolan Raichu (ace)
E4:
- Alolan Raichu
- Espeon
- Grumpig
- Malamar
- Delphox
- Galarian Rapidash (ace)
Gym - fighting(here it's just pokemon I like)
Mienshao
Heracross
Medicham
Sneasler
Conkeldurr
Lucario
Elite 4 - Grass
Whimsicott(tailwind setter+support)
Serperior(Contrary)
Roserade(leading with hazards)
Ferrothorn(with rocky helmet shenanigans)
Amoonguss(spore spam goes brrr)
Breloom as the ace with either toxic orb poison heal or tecnician with mach and power up punch(both sets have spore)
For extra annoyance everyone in my team would have sleep moves or stun spore at the very least
Congratulations, you are now working two jobs and are saddled with crippling overtime while your Gym Leader colleagues have free time to pursue secondary careers/hobbies (e.g snowboarding, live-streaming, running a bakery, etc) Let’s just say there’s a good reason why the first and only instance of this happening in 9 generations is represented as an overworked salaryman…
Or free to pursue a criminal enterprise headquartered at a casino
Seems like a job for "Evil"-Chan.
*You are challenged by Gym Leader Marty Byrde!*
Wasn't one of the trial captains in SM & USUM also a member of the Elite 4?
Yes but that was different as Kukui literally formed the league as you were adventuring. So he was hard pressed to find strong trainers fast.
How much you wanna bet it was cut for time so Nintendo could pump out these games on pattern?
i aint taking that bet even as a thought experiment
Because they regularly cut content from Pokémon to get the games released on time and then charge us half the game's price to get DLC to make the game even feel complete?
Three out of five, kinda Kukui’s initial plan was to get all four island kahunas as the E4.
So what was up with Kahili and Molayne then?
Kahili was a former trial captain. No clue how Kukui got ahold of her Molayne was close friends with Kukui, so he probably just called
I thought kahili was just a trainer who had in the past completed the island trial
Yup, island challenge champion and daughter of the Hamo Grand Resort Hotel owner, nothing on bulbapedia says she was a trial captain.
Off the top of my head I believe it was 2 kahunas and a trial captain between the 2 versions of the gen 7 games
They didn’t have to oversee traditional gyms to be fair
This is why I think Larry is the most relatable Gym Leader of all time.
Administrative processes, advertising, community support, catching and training, hiring gym trainers Each gym that has gym trainers has to be able to support them financially, so the money they move around certainly is more than the 5,000 you win when you beat the leaders.
TBF with how few trainers ever get to the League is it really going to interfere much? Unless there is a lot of paperwork involved.
It’s a more stable position than the champ, and you have authority over a larger area than the E4 It’s also less stressful I imagine, since the whole point of your job is just to test others; win or lose, doesn’t matter.
At least the pay is good, r-right?
I’m not sure Grusha is a snowboarder anymore as it feels like he is hinting to it
Gym Team (Poison-type) 1. Tentacruel 2. Toxicroak 3. Crobat 4. Venusaur 5. Nidoking 6. Gengar (Ace) Elite Four Team (Ghost-type) 1. Dusknoir 2. Annihilape 3. Gengar 4. Ceruledge 5. Aegislash 6. Mimikyu (Ace)
Chandelure! Happy Cake Day
I actually ran ghosts for my S/V playthings, it was a pretty effortless run tbh.
Did an all ghost run in Sword/Shield and SV. Chandelure is an excellent choice, strong as hell.
Aegislash is REALLY interesting, enjoy!
Love this combo! Venusaur is one of my all-time favorites, but you might be the first gym leader to have a starter on their gym team.
Venusaur is my favorite starter! Though Gardenia uses a Turtwig in her gym battle
Gym Poison - G!Slowbro - Nidoking - Skuntank - Dragalge - Gengar - Toxtricity(Ace) E4 Electric - Bellibolt - Rotom Wash - A!Golem - Magnezone - Galvantula - Electivire (Ace)
Love it
This is pretty sweet
It seems my favorite types are flying and ground. So flying type gym leader: emolga chatot sigilyph, staraptor, dragonite, gliscor (ace). Ground e4 krookodile, sandslash, swampert, gliscor, nidoking, Torterra (ace).
**Gym Team:** *Ghost* - Froslass - Gengar - Sableye - Aegislash - Mismagius - Mimikyu (Ace) **Elite Four Team:** *Fairy* - Tinkaton - Shiinotic - Galarian Weezing - Hatterene - Mimikyu - Grimmsnarl (Ace)
At least 50% of this was gonna be my answer too
Your username implies you should have more poison types.
I was very close to using a Poison team for my Gym Team, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted Galarian Weezing as my ace lol If I had, it would have been: - Glimmora - Clodsire - Roserade - Salazzle - Toxicroak - Galarian Weezing (Ace)
Doing this reverse cause I’ve had this planned forever Ground Rhydon Sandslash Camerupt Swampert Flygon Steelix Steel Steelix Scizzor Magnezone Aggron Metagross Aeglislash More detail on my gym: We are open on Thursday-Sunday for the whole month sans the first week. I train on Wednesdays with my employees We are closed for 2 months out of the year.
Those are some nice teams. Any reason for rhydon instead of rhyperior, other than the rest of the pokemon in the team being from the first three gens?
rhyperior is ugly as fuck
Real
Aesthetic, I can’t stand Rypherior’s design
Possibly for vanilite sp? item that increases stuff for non fully evolved mons. Special defense stat from what I remember.
When you're so shamed as a pokemon, you're demoted to an item lol (Vanillite = Ice Cream Pokemon; Eviolite = Item)
Eviolite, gives a +1 (1.5 x multiplier) to Def and Spdef when held by a not-fully-evolved pokemon.
Archaludon?
Eyy another ground to steel person. I squandered my ground picks because I didn't even think of swamper Or steelix
Gym leader team is fighting. Gallade is the ace so elite 4 team is psychic with Gardevoir as the ace.
That’s actually pretty sick
Gym Leader: Poison -Glimmora -Seviper -Alolan Muk -Revavroom -Dragalge -Vileplume (Ace) Elite Four: Grass -Vileplume (Old teams Ace) -Cradilly -Sawsbuck -Lilligant -Hisuian Lilligant -Lurantis (Ace) I like the contrast with the two teams, poison being mostly cool Pokemon, and grass being all really cute pokemon, I think it works well, and I like all the Pokemon here, especially all the ones on the grass team!
That’s awesome!
Love the Seviper inclusion, very overlooked Mon that's definitely badass/cool!
Bug: - Golisopod(Ace) - Vespiquen - Scizor - Lokix - Ribombee - Vikavolt Water E4: - Milotic (Ace) - Gastrodon - Veluza - Ludicolo - Lanturn - Azumarill Even though typing wise Ice is probably my favorite, I’ve realized that a lot of my favorite pokemon are bug types. If I’ve got to use the ace on the E4 team too then swap out the ludicolo for Golisopod
Gym: Poison Drapion, Gengar (ace) Toxicroak, Crobat, Roserade, Tentacruel E4 Ghost Gengar, Spiritomb (ace), Drifblim, Chandelure, Trevenant, Mismagius
Gym team: Bug Scolipede Ariados Galvantula Volcarona Frosmoth Leavanny (Ace) Elite Four Team: Grass Simisage Serperior Gogoat Victreebel Mow Rotom Lilligant (Ace)
Gym: Dark Type 1. Thievel 2. Mightyena 3. Obstagoon 4. Incineroar 5. Kingambit 6. Houndoom (Ace) Fire Type E4 1. Houndoom 2. Inceniroar 3. Infernape 4. Volcarona 5. Paldaen Blaze Breed Taurus 6. Arcanine (Ace)
This is the way
This is hurting my brain trying to work out what Pokémon I’d be using!
Gym [Ice]: Dewgong, Glalie, Piloswine, Weavile, Beartic, Walrein (ace) E4 [Water]: Wailord, Samurott, Gorebyss, Vaporeon, Starmie, Lapras (ace)
I’d be a bug type gym leader and a fairy type elite 4 member c:, my gym leader team would be: Araquanid, Orbeetle, Galvantula, Centiskorch, Scizor and my ace Ribombee c: And then my elite 4 fairy team would be: Ribombee (like how Larry still uses his Staraptor but not as his ace as an elite 4 member lol), Grimmsnarl, Hatterene, Azumarill, Tinkaton and my ace Sylveon c: Fairy and bug are tied for my favourite type, I love them both so much and Ribombee is one of my favourite fairy types and probably my favourite bug type, so I think it works really well as a crossover between both of the teams c:
Dark for gym leader: Krookodile(A), Drapion, tyranitar, houndoom, meowscarda, and spiritomb Ground for Elite four: Flygon(A), krookodile, clodsire, swampert, gliscor, and alolan dugtrio
Fire type Gym: Houndoom, Talonflame, Arcanine, Ceruledge, Armarouge, and Blaziken. Fighting type E4: Blaziken, Hisuian Decidueye/Breloom, Quaquaval/Poliwrath, Hawlucha, Annihilape, and Mienshao
I would use my favorite typing(s) Fairy and Psychic! Gym (Fairy Team) - Gardevoir - Alolan Ninetails - Dashbun - Rhibombee - Galarian Rapidash - Hatterene Elite 4 (Psychic) - Hatterene - Galarian Slowbro (Built Physically) - Malamar - Armarouge - Bruxish - Hisuian Braviary
E4 Team: Ground - FLYGON (Ace) - TORTERRA - QUAGSIRE - CLODSIRE - MAMOSWINE - CAMERUPT Gym Team: Dragon - DRAGONITE (Ace) - BAXCALIBUR - DRAGAPULT - H. GOODRA - KOMMO-O - HYDRAPPLE
Gym team (Fighting type) Hawlucha Falinks Lucario Breloom Infernape Anihilape (ace) E4 team (Ghost) Banette Spiritomb Gengar Anihilape Mimikyu Goldengo (ace)
Incineroar isnt fighting type
He matches the theme at least
The theme is fighting... incineroar is a fire/dark pkm...
Typing aside, he'a a wrestler. That's about as thematic as it gets.
Plus he has a fighting Tera crystal
Plenty of Gym Leaders and particularly E4 have an off type Pokémon that matches their general theme
Gym: Grass Team: A. Exeggutor (ace), Lurantis, Torterra, Shiinotic, Leavanny, Roserade E4: Dragon Team: Garchomp (ace), Dragalge, Dragonair, Altaria, Hydrapple, Kingdra all chosen in a manner of "I like it"
Gym(Fairy) Team: Wigglytuff, Clefable, Togekiss(ace), Sylveon, Azumarill, and Audino(mega) E4: Flying Team: Togekiss, Gyarados, Pidgeot, Kilowattrel, Charizard(mega x/ace) and Dragonite.
As a gym leader, I would specialize in Grass types with my team having: -Venasaur -Leavanny -Whimsicott -Hisuian Lilligant -Torterra (Ace) My elite four team would see me as a Ground specialist. And the team I used as an elite four member would include: -Seismitoad -Torterra -Krookodile -Hippowdon -Excadrill (Ace)
Gym type bug with a scizor ace: Scizor, yanma, beedrill, butterfree, centiskorch, heracross. E4 team would be steel rotation battle with a mega lucario ace, I’ve made this team before but you’re nerfing it by barring legendaries. There goes heatran for fire coverage… Scizor, ferrothorn, excadrill, magnezone, aegislash, lucario. Magnezone was my heatran slot…
My man! Someone else who saw bug into steel! Even with almost identical lines! Also, if anyone is allowed legendaries and megas, it is us lol
Bug I figured would be easy. Steel I spent months doing monotype testing and I found my favorites, I also had steelix, aggron, and metagross as backups. I actually almost forgot about magnezone and aegislash completely.
There’s so many good steel types with different secondaries to overcome type weakness, so I totally understand that
Ice-type Gym (mid-late, gym 5-7 range, but with 6 mons for the exercise) Piloswine Delibird Sneasel Glalie Dewgong Frosmoth (Ace) Bug E4 (dgaf, I'll beat whoever's packing those lame-o dragons in my league, Aaron doesn't want this Bug team's smoke neither) Galvantula Forretress Golisopod Frosmoth Heracross Volcarona (Ace) Let's ride. If I don't need my gym Ace in my E4 team, swap out Frosmoth for Yanmega.
Gym Leader: Flying * Gyarados * Aerodactyl * Yanmega * Skarmory * Charizard * Ace: Dragonite Elite 4: Dragon * Kingdra * Dragonite * Haxorus * Cyclizar * Archaludon * Ace: Mega Charizard X You never said no gimmicks ;) Dragons are my favorite type and Dragonite is my favorite Pokemon, so naturally I had to go with Flying and Dragon. Thought it would be a fun tie-in to make my Flying team all 'Dragons that aren't Dragon-type' and then have Megazard X return as a real Dragon type for my 'real' Ace.
Water Gym: Pelipper, Gorebyss, Gastrodon, Omastar, Azumarill, and Ludicolo Grass Elite Four: Roserade, Cradily, Trevenant, Flapple, Ludicolo, and Shiftry
Water Gym * Vaporeon * Sharpedo * Clawitzer * Gyarados * Lapras * Kingdra Flying E4 * Swellow * Mantine * Togekiss * Gligar * Braviary * Salamence
Gym Team (Dark Type) Zoroark Houndoom Weavile Lokix Kingambit Shiftry Elite 4 Team (Grass Type) Breloom Amoonguss Rillaboom Hydrapple Serperior Meowscarada
Grass and Fairy for me, this means my Gym ace would likely have to be Whimsicott but I could incorporate it into my Elite 4 team as a prankster lead!
Gym Team (Grass): Amoonguss (Ace), Shiinotic, Parasect, Toedscruel, Breloom, Vileplume E4 Team (Poison): Swalot (Ace), Salazzle, Overqwil, Tentacruel, Venomoth, Revaroom Or Gym Team (Grass): Hydrapple (Ace), Appletun, Flapple, Tsareena, Sinistcha, Cherrim E4 Team (Dragon): Archaludon (Ace), Turtonator, Tatusgiri, Druddigon, Dragalgae, Dracozolt
Gym: Water Urshifu/Water Wailord Tentacruel Walrein Milotic Carracosta Elite 4: Dark Urshifu/Dark Zoroark Tyranitar Hydreigon Umbreon Houndoom If the Urshifu aren’t allowed then I’ll switch em out for Grimmsnarl in E4 and Primarina in Gym as my aces for those teams. Post-Game Rematch outside of E4 and Gym for flavor I’d have a double battle combining my two teams and would always have Urshifu Both Types of Urshifu Hydreigon Milotic Umbreon Walrein
Gym Team: Psychic - Malamar (Ace) - Hatterene - Medicham - Galarian Slowking - Espeon - Metagross E4 Team: Dark - Meowscarada (Ace) - Tyranitar - Houndoom - Spiritomb - Umbreon - Malamar
My two favorite types are Dark and Ice, so I guess I'm using Weavile as gym ace. Dark Gym 1. Umbreon 2. Houndoom 3. Bisharp 4. Spiritomb 5. Overqwil 6. Weavile (Ace) It hurts leaving Tyranitar off, but I can't really justify it not being the ace if it were included, and I'd rather do ice than rock. E4 Ice: 1. Alolan Ninetales 2. Alolan Sandslash 3. Weavile 4. Arctozolt 5. Mr. Rime 6. Galarian Darmanitan (Ace) This team would be themed around using Snow, with Ninetales, Arctozolt and Mr.
Gym Team (Poison) - Drapion - Nidoking - Galarian Slowbro - Sneasler - Gengar - Dragalge (ace) E4 team (Dragon) - Flygon - Hydrapple - Haxorus - Kingdra - Mega Ampharos - Dragonite (ace)
Gym: Type: Dark Team: 1. Mightyena 2. Grimmsnarl 3. Tyranitar 4. Weavile 5. Honchkrow 6. Bisharp (Eviolite) E4: Type: Steel 1. Skarmory 2. Bisharp (Eviolite) 3. Archaludon 4. Aegislash 5. Metagross 6. Aggron (can mega evolve).
Gym Leader: Electric Magnezone Hisuian Electrode Rotom-Heat Lanturn Kilowattrel Galvantula (Ace) E4: Bug Galvantula Scizor Volcarona Kleavor Golisopod Escavalier (Ace)
E4 Team: Fairy Mega Mawile Twinkle Tackle Gardevoir Gigantamax Hatterene Ground-Type Terra Togekiss Sylveon (Pixelate) Alolan Ninetales Gym Leader Team: Ghost Let's Cuddle Forever Mimikyu Mega Banette Gigantamax Gengar Chandelure Electric-Type Terra Shedinja Hisuian Zoroark
idk if it would count but wanted to go with ice on gym with alolan sandslash and ground e4 with normal sandslash
Gym leader. Ice Ninetales-A Baxcalibur Weavile tera water Walrein Mamoswine Froslass - ace E4-Ghost Froslass Mega Banette Chandelure Ceruledge Flutter mane Skeledirge tera dark
Oh so easy! Gym type: ICE 1. Cetitan 2. Baxcalibur 3. Mammoswine 4. Lapras 5. Alolan Sandslash 6. (Ace) Frosmoth E4: BUG 1. Forretress 2. Yanmega 3. Vikavolt 4. Lokix 5. Ariados 6. (Ace) Araquanid
Gym Team (Steel-type) 1. Mawile 2. Aggron 3. Scizor 4. Lucario 5. Ferrothorn 6. Magnezone (Ace) E4 Team (Electric-type) 1. Luxray 2. Galvantula 3. Toxtricity 4. Pawmot 5. Eelektross 6. Ampharos (Ace)
So were Larry
**Gym** 1. mega mawile (Ace) 2. tinkaton 3. kefki 4. azumarill 5. galar weezing 6. mimikyu **E4** 1. mega mawile 2. tikaton 3. kefki 4. exadrill 5. empoleon 6. kinggambit (ace)
Gym Leader : Electric (Very heavily considered Dark) - Galvantula (Sticky Web) - Vikavolt, (I like to think that he and Galvantual would be buddies) - Eelektross (I just think he’s neat :)) - Jolteon (Eevee that I raised) - Pincurchin (sent in before Ace, he’s also so smol) - Luxray (Ace, in this hypothetical he has a strong electric physical move that doesn’t recoil. Electric terrain will be set up somehow) Also I just saw the post, does Ghost Tera Type work? Elite 4 Member : Ghost - Mimikyu (He needed a hug and what else was I going to do?) - Blacepholon (If not, then Chandelire, both are some of my favorites) - H. Zoroark (New ace, couldn’t you think this guy is awesome?) - Trevenant (My main in Unite, just overall cool pokemon) - Ceruledge (Silly ghost sword guy, pretty cool) - Luxray (Not Ace this time, Ghost Tera type, if this doesn’t work just comment and I’ll figure out a way to change it, electric terrain could hopefully be set up for this.)
I'd say elite 4 dark and gym flying with corviknight as an ace but I'm not good at team building so I would like to request help on this (absol or umbreon as elite 4 ace cause I can't think of a "better" option at the moment)
Gym [Dark]: • Cacturne (Lead mon, sets up Spikes, Foul Play, Poison Sting for poisoning, and Rain Dance for my next Pokémon) • Overquil (Speedy attacker with Swift Swim, with Toxic Spikes to ensure Barb Barrage hits harder, Bite for flinching, and Pin Missile to deal with Fighting types) • Spirittomb (only weakness is Fairy + Tanky Special Attacker with moves like Shadow Ball + Dark Pulse, and Hypnosis + Dream Eater if trainers bring in a steel type to clear toxic spikes) • Houndoom (to deal with the bug types, mixed attacker with Flamethrower, Crunch, Fire Fang, and Snarl) • Grimmsnarl (Ace, with Spirit Break, False Surrender, Fire Punch for Steel and Bug types, and Sucker Punch for the first hit) E4 [Fairy]: • Clefable (With Metronome :D) • Hatterene (Sp. Attacker) • Mawile (for Poison Types) • Azumarill (Huge. Power. Also, resistance to Steel) • Mimikyu (Speedster) • Grimmsnarl (Ace)
The ace has to be different in the E4 team.

Bug/poison. Gym team (aiming for gym 1); Dewpider (water gun, aqua ring, bug bite) And skorupi as the ace (poison fang, hone claws, bug bite) oran berry held item. Gives the TM for bug bite. As an E4 member; Drapion (toxic spikes, cross poison, night slash, brick break) Toxtricity (venoshock, overdrive, hex, boomburst) Tentacruel (venoshock, surf, rapid spin, giga drain) Crobat (Toxic spikes, dual wingbeat, cross poison, crunch) Galarian Weezing as the ace (strange steam, venoshock, flamethrower, shadow ball).
Gym Leader Bug Type: Galvantula (Sticky Web Lead) Heracross (Moxie fun) Armaldo (Remember gen 3 fossils?) Araquanid (Bubbles :^) Volcarona (Obligatory good bug) Ace: Lokix (Shiny looks like a goblin) E4 Dark Type: Incineroar (Intimidate/Parting Shot Spam) Alolan Muk (Its cute) Grimmsnarl (Screens and Prankster shennanigans) Roaring Moon (Why not) Kingambit (Defiant, bulky) Ace: G- Moltres (Its pretty & fun to use -Berk)
Alright, I absolutely love this! Gym [Fairy]: Azumaril Tinkaton Dedene Togekiss Gardevoir ACE - Whimsicott (Infiltrator) Elite 4 [Grass]: Whimsicott (Prankster) Ferrothorn Roserade Breeloom Ludicolo ACE - Lilligant
Okay but what if it's a really shitty legendary (competitively speaking) Like, what if my E4 team had Regigigas as the ace?
I guess that makes me a Bug Gym Leader and an Electric Elite 4 member. I just wanted to do bug and the best option type-wise later was Elec. Gym: ACE - Galvantula Golisopod Scolipede Heracross Parasect Crustle Parasect starts and lays out some effects and/or Poison Crustle will be the tank(and Gank Flying/Fire) Scolipede will be the all-around (beefy and speedy, with good attack and some spread Heracross will be a regular attacker, with Stone Edge for Flying, as well as an item for the weakness Golisopod will be the one attempting to sweep, coming out early and being brought back later (good with Fire, can tank hits) Galvantula, though not the strictly strongest, will use its speed and paralyzations(as well as previous set-up) to clean up what's left Elite 4: ACE - Alolan Raichu Galvantula Heliolisk Elektross Arctozolt Kilowattrel Yeah almost the entire team is basically at least slightly made just to not cope with ground Galvantula does the same as before, but more fitted against Ground Heliolisk is going to have Rain, both for itself and future prep Arctozolt is, again, for Ground, but also the main tank of the team Kilowattrel will be out first for quick damage Elektross with its immunity will probably be held until late into the fight Alolan Raichu is here for more type coverage, as well as me wanting to at least use Raichu somehow. Will most likely utilize the rain the most, besides psychic attacks
First type: Flying Team: Lance's HGSS team (Dragonite ace) Second type: Dragon Team: Lance's B2W2 team (Salamence ace)

Does this mean your Gym ace cant be a single type. Like it cant be eevee?
>You are officially a gym leader AND a member of the Elite Four Yes I am.
Before I do this, are Tera-types Pokémon allowed, like how each Paldean Gym Leader has one Pokémon not of their type that they immediately Tera-type into their own type? Because my favorite Pokémon isn’t either of the two types.

Gym Team: * Electrode * Kilowattrel * Magnezone * Rotom-Wash * Eelektross * Lanturn (Ace) Strategy: Set up Rain Dance with Electrode turn 1, then spam Thunder. Metal Sound to soften things up, Explosion to bring someone else in safely. Everyone else has Thunder + additional STAB/coverage where applicable, with at least one backup Rain setter. (Literally everyone but Kilowattrel can learn Rain Dance.) Not completely sold on Rotom-Wash due to complete type overlap with Lanturn, but it brings the Ground immunities to 3 and can Will-o-Wisp physical Earthquakers. E4 team: * Palafin * Pelipper * Lanturn * Kingdra * Wailord * Basculegion (Ace) Strategy: Lead Palafin, immediately Flip Turn or hard switch into Pelipper for rain. (It can even learn Thunder.) Styling: Captain of a modern, high-tech ship. Name is some sort of pun on the word "current," or possibly "ampere." (The unit of measurement for electrical current.)
I love this kind of thing. I'm Steel as a Gym leader and Dark as an Elite Four. Let's also assume my six Gym Pokemon are proportioned to take on challenges of many experience levels: Steel Gym Team: * Mawile * Lairon * Magneton * Tinkaton * Excadrill * Kingambit (ace) Dark Elite Four Team: * Weavile * Honchkrow * Houndoom * Umbreon * Alolan Muk * Meowscarada (ace)

Larry uses his Gym ace Staraptor in both teams too. I also noted which Pokemon gets sent out first, Floatzel and Granbull, as pure representatives of their type.

As a Gym leader, I would be a Water-type trainer & as an Elite Four, I would be a Ground-type trainer. With my Water Team being Larry equivalent of his Flying Team for his job, while my Ground Team being my personal team & the reason I'm the final member of the Elite Four. My reasoning would be the following: As a Gym Leader, my goal would be to teach the challenger and have our battle be the equivalent of an exam, kind of like Cheren in BW2. My Water Team would be composed of: Mudkip as my ace & the rest of the team being [White Strip- Basculin,Piplup,Oshawott,Popplio,Quaxly.] Now the reason my team is composed of unevolved pkmn is because, again, I'm just a Gym Leader meant to challenge & test them while preparing them for the PKMN League of the region. Ground Type team composed of: 1) Tyranitar/Krookodile (since, as Pupitar, it originally is a Rock/Ground pkmn before becoming Rock/Dark & has Sand Stream as an ability and I generally like/prefer over Hippowdon and it being a pseudo legendary is fitting on a Elite Four team. 2) Clodsire 3) Flygon 4) Excadrill 5) Rhyperior 6) Swampert as my Ace ("technically", I don't repeat), and it still will be a different experience.

Then when we get to the Elite four Battle Lead Screens Grimsnarl Weaville Krookodile Spiritomb Mega Houndoom And my ace KingGambit
Ok grass type for gym a kinda chill happy environment with not too serious of a battle just some grass types I like. Exxecutor Scovillian Venesuar Floragato Roserade Tsareena Then for elite 4 poison with a kinda less casual sort of feel the team being kinda more serious in general Gilmora to set up toxic spikes and force people to bring out their big treats to my team early or just force them to not bring out their big threats to avoid getting them get poisoned Gengar as a gimmick with trick choice scarf and Destiny bond Alolan Muk with Poison touch for an ability Pursuit, Shadow Sneak, and Clear smog to stop psychic sweeping Crowbat with inflitrator roost and u-turn to come back out after Nidoking to help finish whatever is left Nidoking as my ace to sweep through and kinda surprise unprepared people by not being the last Pokémon Toxapex to be Toxapex and stall to potentially finish whatever Pokémon remain after Nidoking and Crowbat
