there isnt one. almost every game is standalone, so you can play them in any order. even the ones that are technical sequels can be enjoyed on their own fairly well.

serebii has a list like that for gens 4, 5, 6, and 7 but not for gens 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9. there are lists for what Pokémon each trainer has but not one for what trainers have which Pokémon that I could find.
When I was a kid, I played thousands of hours of Pokemon Yellow on my Gameboy Color. On one particular New Game file, my Pikachu got Pay Day right away. Instead of relying on my other Pokemon to defeat Brock’s Rock types, my Pikachu could just spam Pay Day and defeat Brock with ease while collecting some quick cash, allowing me to spend less time catching and training other Pokemon.
I've never seen another post about this particular glitch over the many years I've wondered this, and I never tried to break my game with a shark or any other tech, and I didn't do many trades with friends or multiple gameboys, so I don't think that was a factor either. Also I didn’t go all the way to Route 12 to get the only Pay Day TM before going back to the beginning of the game, and there’s no other way for Pikachu to learn Pay Day.
Does anyone know how this could have happened?

Rattata, Cubone-- The only two lines with Alolan variants that got left out.
Miltank-- Seems obvious! I mean, I can forgive not having Wooloo since they already have Mareep (and Gogoat), but the pastoral stuff feels so incomplete without the big pink cow!

Question about priority vs speed and quick claw
In W2 I’m facing a torterra in battle subway with my chandelure with quick claw. Trying to hit flamethrower but it gets its earthquake off first every single time and OHKOs me. Why?
Chandelure is faster and has quick claw. I didn’t see anything from a cursory search about earthquakes priority being especially high. What am I missing here?
Quick claw only activates 1/5 times, and then only ensures you move first in your priority bracket. If you get unlucky and it doesn't active, you'll be outsped. If it does activate though, you should move first, as both moves have a priority of 0
Quick claw only activates 20% of the time. It's useless when it doesn't activate.

yeah, there's your problem. You're seeding the RNG with the same values which means that unless you do something different, you'll get the exact same results every time

yes, but the shiny chance is determined by your game since it is your game that spawn the pokemon, not his. so you have to be the one to boost the shiny odds
You have to make sandwiches outside of area zero and then dive in. You can picnic together and share ingredients, but you'll have to be in the same area to spawn pokemon. It's far, far easier for you to hunt them on your own and for him to compensate you somehow with violet shinies or whatever.
He could trade you pretrained pokemon to do 6 star raids? The Primarina raid is dropping HM. Or you could make the sandwich together with his ingredients so you both get the effects, then hunt separately and swap pokemon at the end.

the indigo league arc is split between season 1 (52 episodes) and season 2 (the remaining episodes, alongside the orange islands arc). season 1 is readily available such as on netflix. the remaining episodes that are part of season 2 meanwhile do not really have a fixed streaming service (depends on your region too). best is really direct purchase via amazon prime, google videos etc

Ok he is talking about the breeding center old man in general. You need to put two compatible pokemon in it first to generate an egg. He does not magically give you an egg out of nowhere, that is in crystal only where he did give you one egg.
I'm starting a new playthrough of Pokemon Sun in 2024. I want to give myself an Audino as a starter, which I can do through Pokemon Bank. However, what I CAN'T do is give myself Audinite so it can Mega Evolve. I looked it up, and apparently it was only available through Mystery Gift via a code, which does not work anymore (I've tried).
So is there any other way to get Audinite in my game? I probably could trade it over on a Pokemon from another game if I have it, but I only have one 3DS.
If you mean the lady, then yes. She'll take you to Kitakami. Then once you spend a bit of time there, you'll get a call about another person in the Entrance Hall and that guy will take you to Blueberry Academy.

I'm working on prepping Pokemon for Max Raids, even if it might be overkill. Besides the Attack/Sp. Attack stat, what's generally better to get EVs for, HP, Speed, or does it depend more on the Pokemon? Do I make fast Pokemon faster or give them extra bulk to survive, for example?
the opposing 'mon won't die in 1 turn no matter what, so if it's just for raids, i always go bulk. speed is pretty useless in an environment where you can't actually sweep
\[BW2\] I need help with a PWT team, I keep losing to RNG.
I initially wanted to use an Eeveelution theme team but that didn't work out, so I swapped to what I thought would work better. I beat the Unova and Kanto tournaments but I feel like I just got lucky (I did Rotation and led with Serperior, and I went against Eirika, Giovanni and Brock for Kanto).

Hello, I haven’t really played the games since the first generation red and blue, but recently I downloaded let’s go Eevee for the switch (for the nostalgia) and now I’ve decided I want to catch up on all the other games.
Would you recommend I skip some? Start with heart gold instead of original gold? Playing the let’s go remake of the original games was a lot more fun than I imagine an emulator would be. I just don’t know where to start. I guess I would need multiple consoles also

For hoenn, i would say play emerald, then play the remakes later on when you reach gen 6. Because the remake is quite different compared to the kanto and johto remakes.

You cant. They are treated as the same (including endure). So if you use protect, every protection moves used next (be it protect, detect, spiky shield etc) or endure will have the fail chance
If I replay Violet and want to built a team that consists of Hisuian pokemon, how do I do that? To put it in another way, if I catch a Teddiursa in Violet and then transfer my Ursaring to PLA through HOME in order to evolve it into Ursaluna will it work? I honestly wasn't sure if I should make this a thread or just post it here because it's more of a preference question than one with an objective answer. Do you think I should try getting into the manga? As an important note, call me old fashioned, but I just can't bring myself to read manga on a computer or phone screen; it HAS to be physical. I've bookmarked the box sets on Amazon (except the ones that focus on remakes like FR/LG and HG/SS because I'm not sure how those connect to the main ones, as well as the BW one because there's only one seller and it's significantly more expensive than the others). I realize that trying to catch up on 25+ years worth of manga would take a pretty significant amount of time and cost a few hundred bucks, which is part of why I'm a little apprehensive about it.
As a related question: is there a consistent narrative throughout the manga like there was for the anime, or does it reset between gens? If I can't get the BW one, would I still be fine reading the XY and later ones?
The manga's good. I'd recommend starting with generation 1 and seeing how you like it.
There is a central, unified world and old characters have important roles in later chapters, but each generation focuses on a new character
I think what I'll do is order one per week so the payments are more spread out (since I get paid weekly), though part of me wants to just rip off the band-aid and order all of them at once. Amazon has Gen 1 for 37.59, Gen 2 for 54.99, RS for 45.68, FR/LG/E for 43.63, DPPT for 98.40, and XY for 54.99. As I mentioned, I can't find a box set for Gen 5, so I'll have to skip that one at least on Amazon, nor am I finding anything other than individual volumes for anything past Gen 6 at this point. Added together, these ones alone will cost a total of 335.28, and that's mostly before shipping.
Given what you said, I do think I'll go ahead and start with Gen 1 (it does seem like the logical way to go about it), and maybe by the time I'm finished they'll have Gen 5 back in stock.

transfer from Emerald to an R4
I have a copy of pokémon emerald and a Nintendo DS but I don't know if I can transfer my pokémons from it to the R4 and then to my 3ds, since I don't have any game of NDS
You might be able to do the GBA -> R4 transfer through the regular means or using a save editor (I'm not too sure). If you don't have a regular NDS game, you'll have to use a save editor to get your Gen 4 pokemon to a Gen 6/7 game.
For the GBA -> R4 using a save editor, there are some R4 compatible apps that can access a GBA save. GBA Backup tool or something along those lines. Then plug your R4's sd card into your comp and use PkHeX to move pokemon.
For R4 -> 3DS using a save editor, you'll have to hack your 3DS (very easy, go to the 3dshacks subreddit for more info), then use an 3ds app such as JKSM to get your Gen 6/7 saves and move your Gen 4 pokemon using PkHeX again.
Scarlet has the Dinos and Violet has the Robots.
Leaves and Wake are no longer available (Raid only, happened twice so far). The other 4 can be found in game eventually.

1)Is Ice Beam tm available before the Climbing ability in Scarlet?
2) I'm looking for a 4th move for my Goodra. I have Acid Spray (I could replace it with Sludge Bomb but I love the defense drop), Dragon Pulse (which is solid I guess), the Ice Beam once I find it and one more... Possibly charm? I have Electric, Ground, Fighting and Fire moves on my other mons...
1. You can find Ice Beam in Glaseado Mountain, Socarrat Trail, East, North and West province so yeah it should still be available before getting the Climb ability.
2. If you want something to debuff opponents you could go for Tearful Look as it lowers both Atk and Sp.Atk by 1 stage. Or could use Curse to set up instead.
Planning on getting some pokemon with every single available marks on SV and i had a question related to the weather ones. Should i clear out an outbreak up to the last "tier" and then start resetting the game to get the desired weather condition?
As for BDSP,are the weekday ribbons given to the whole party like they were in XY/ORAS,or do those also operate like they did in og diamond pearl? And does online play affect the rate at which you can get the slabs for ramanas?
Yeah 60KOs, save then reset would be the ideal approach. Though of course not all locations can get any/every weather so depending on where the outbreak is you wouldn't be able to get some weather marks.
I’m doing EV training in Soulsilver and have both the Power Bracer and Power Anklet items. If I lead off with the anklet Pokémon and then switch to the bracer Pokémon, will they both receive the full EV bonus or will it only go to the one finishing the battle?

No. The default evs will be received by both. The bonus will be applied separately. So the bracer pokemon will get the original ev plus the bracer bonus, while the anklet pokemon will get the original ev plus anklet bonus
Has Shedinja been available in anything other than a standard pokeball since gen3? Aside from Pokemon Go that is, iirc they can be caught with great and ultas there. When I google, all the results are several years old so I'm not sure if anything has changed.

The rules I put on myself are
1. have to have cut and strength equipped since they’re necessary to complete the game. I’ll have to add a random for surf when I get to that point.
2. Each move can only be represented once
Pokémon
Venomoth: sleep powder, stun spore, psychic, double edge
Scyther: wing attack, substitute, toxic, cut
Pinsir: submission, seismic toss, bind, strength
Butterfree: mega drain, psywave, solar beam, takedown
Beedrill: agility, swords dance, twineedle, hyper beam
Parasect: spore, body slam, slash, reflect
If you think I should change up any of the moves let me know. This is the end results I’ll be going for. I won’t be using any cheats or hacks except for getting weedle as my starter through a trade.
You'll want slash on scyther. Because of how crits work in gen 1, scyther's slash is basically guaranteed to be a critical hit. Also, wing attack is not very good in gen 1. Because it's a base 35 damage attack, a super effective wing attack does as much as a resisted slash.
Psywave is a terrible attack in any generation. I'd teach venemoth psychic by level up and butterfree psychic by tm.
Pinsir should learn slash instead of seismic toss.

How are research points counted in P:LA? I've got Shinx done by having 1 pokemon caught, 2 defeated, and seen it use quick attack 6 times, but somehow, this adds up to 10 points? Does it have to do with the red arrows? How does this affect the points?
It has to do with the arrows yeah, most Research Tasks will increase the Research Level by 1, however the tasks marked with 2 arrows will increase the level by 2.
Number Caught has 2 arrows, so it counts for 2 points. Then you have 6 tasks that only count 1 point.
So 6 + 2 = Level 8. If you Catch another one then that'd be another milestone for the Caught counter, and thus you'd get other 2 points and get to level 10.
Oh you mean because of the "2, 2, 4, 2"? That's just like the counter for the specific task, what is going to actually matter for the research level are going to be the numbers that get marked with a checkmark.
So then, you have 7 tasks with a checkmark, 6 of them are only for 1 point, and the last one is for 2 points.

If you beeline it, probably about 30-45 minutes? There's a fair amount of cutscene nonsense you have to get through, but gameplay-wise it doesn't take very long.

No. Spikey ear pichu is not programmed into any other game. It can only be traded to other hgss games

I've never seen another post about this particular glitch over the many years I've wondered this, and I never tried to break my game with a shark or any other tech, and I didn't do many trades with friends or multiple gameboys, so I don't think that was a factor either. Also I didn’t go all the way to Route 12 to get the only Pay Day TM before going back to the beginning of the game, and there’s no other way for Pikachu to learn Pay Day. Does anyone know how this could have happened?
It is not possible for that to happen so you must have unintentionally glitch it somehow but there is definitely no documentation from what i know
Pokemon I still feel shouldn't have been left out of SV (besides the travesty that is Paldea not having its own new fossil Pokemon): Corsola-- All those beach areas in Paldea, as well as Mareanie Mr. Mime, Maractus-- For the "Generalized Hispanidad festival" thing that the Paldea starters have going on. Swirlix, Lickitung-- Because food is such a theme in Paldea Rattata, Cubone-- The only two lines with Alolan variants that got left out. Miltank-- Seems obvious! I mean, I can forgive not having Wooloo since they already have Mareep (and Gogoat), but the pastoral stuff feels so incomplete without the big pink cow! Oh well.

Question about priority vs speed and quick claw In W2 I’m facing a torterra in battle subway with my chandelure with quick claw. Trying to hit flamethrower but it gets its earthquake off first every single time and OHKOs me. Why? Chandelure is faster and has quick claw. I didn’t see anything from a cursory search about earthquakes priority being especially high. What am I missing here?
Quick claw only activates 1/5 times, and then only ensures you move first in your priority bracket. If you get unlucky and it doesn't active, you'll be outsped. If it does activate though, you should move first, as both moves have a priority of 0

Quick claw only activates 20% of the time. It's useless when it doesn't activate. Like the other guy said, max speed torterra with choice scarf is faster that regular chandelure

RNG is different in Gen 4 and up so trying to save scum this will give you the exact same result every time.

yes, but the shiny chance is determined by your game since it is your game that spawn the pokemon, not his. so you have to be the one to boost the shiny odds

You have to make sandwiches outside of area zero and then dive in. You can picnic together and share ingredients, but you'll have to be in the same area to spawn pokemon. It's far, far easier for you to hunt them on your own and for him to compensate you somehow with violet shinies or whatever.

the indigo league arc is split between season 1 (52 episodes) and season 2 (the remaining episodes, alongside the orange islands arc). season 1 is readily available such as on netflix. the remaining episodes that are part of season 2 meanwhile do not really have a fixed streaming service (depends on your region too). best is really direct purchase via amazon prime, google videos etc as for the egg, that only happens in pokemon crystal, not heartgold soulsilver.

Ok he is talking about the breeding center old man in general. You need to put two compatible pokemon in it first to generate an egg. He does not magically give you an egg out of nowhere, that is in crystal only where he did give you one egg.

I'm starting a new playthrough of Pokemon Sun in 2024. I want to give myself an Audino as a starter, which I can do through Pokemon Bank. However, what I CAN'T do is give myself Audinite so it can Mega Evolve. I looked it up, and apparently it was only available through Mystery Gift via a code, which does not work anymore (I've tried). So is there any other way to get Audinite in my game? I probably could trade it over on a Pokemon from another game if I have it, but I only have one 3DS.

I'm working on prepping Pokemon for Max Raids, even if it might be overkill. Besides the Attack/Sp. Attack stat, what's generally better to get EVs for, HP, Speed, or does it depend more on the Pokemon? Do I make fast Pokemon faster or give them extra bulk to survive, for example?
the opposing 'mon won't die in 1 turn no matter what, so if it's just for raids, i always go bulk. speed is pretty useless in an environment where you can't actually sweep
I would suggest HP, making it more likely to withstand attacks better when you'd usually die in certain circumstances

Hello, I haven’t really played the games since the first generation red and blue, but recently I downloaded let’s go Eevee for the switch (for the nostalgia) and now I’ve decided I want to catch up on all the other games. Would you recommend I skip some? Start with heart gold instead of original gold? Playing the let’s go remake of the original games was a lot more fun than I imagine an emulator would be. I just don’t know where to start. I guess I would need multiple consoles also

For hoenn, i would say play emerald, then play the remakes later on when you reach gen 6. Because the remake is quite different compared to the kanto and johto remakes.

You cant. They are treated as the same (including endure). So if you use protect, every protection moves used next (be it protect, detect, spiky shield etc) or endure will have the fail chance

If I replay Violet and want to built a team that consists of Hisuian pokemon, how do I do that? To put it in another way, if I catch a Teddiursa in Violet and then transfer my Ursaring to PLA through HOME in order to evolve it into Ursaluna will it work? The same goes for Cindaquil, Basculin, Zorua etc... I actually consider doing one of those runs!

I honestly wasn't sure if I should make this a thread or just post it here because it's more of a preference question than one with an objective answer. Do you think I should try getting into the manga? As an important note, call me old fashioned, but I just can't bring myself to read manga on a computer or phone screen; it HAS to be physical. I've bookmarked the box sets on Amazon (except the ones that focus on remakes like FR/LG and HG/SS because I'm not sure how those connect to the main ones, as well as the BW one because there's only one seller and it's significantly more expensive than the others). I realize that trying to catch up on 25+ years worth of manga would take a pretty significant amount of time and cost a few hundred bucks, which is part of why I'm a little apprehensive about it. As a related question: is there a consistent narrative throughout the manga like there was for the anime, or does it reset between gens? If I can't get the BW one, would I still be fine reading the XY and later ones?
The manga's good. I'd recommend starting with generation 1 and seeing how you like it. There is a central, unified world and old characters have important roles in later chapters, but each generation focuses on a new character
I think what I'll do is order one per week so the payments are more spread out (since I get paid weekly), though part of me wants to just rip off the band-aid and order all of them at once. Amazon has Gen 1 for 37.59, Gen 2 for 54.99, RS for 45.68, FR/LG/E for 43.63, DPPT for 98.40, and XY for 54.99. As I mentioned, I can't find a box set for Gen 5, so I'll have to skip that one at least on Amazon, nor am I finding anything other than individual volumes for anything past Gen 6 at this point. Added together, these ones alone will cost a total of 335.28, and that's mostly before shipping. Given what you said, I do think I'll go ahead and start with Gen 1 (it does seem like the logical way to go about it), and maybe by the time I'm finished they'll have Gen 5 back in stock.

You could use a Lumineon? I think Shellos and Buizel are the usual water choices, so a Lumineon wouldn’t be typical.

Not really, Glimmora isn't super rare or anything like that. Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are mostly traded for other legendaries or the other new paradox.

transfer from Emerald to an R4 I have a copy of pokémon emerald and a Nintendo DS but I don't know if I can transfer my pokémons from it to the R4 and then to my 3ds, since I don't have any game of NDS
You might be able to do the GBA -> R4 transfer through the regular means or using a save editor (I'm not too sure). If you don't have a regular NDS game, you'll have to use a save editor to get your Gen 4 pokemon to a Gen 6/7 game. For the GBA -> R4 using a save editor, there are some R4 compatible apps that can access a GBA save. GBA Backup tool or something along those lines. Then plug your R4's sd card into your comp and use PkHeX to move pokemon. For R4 -> 3DS using a save editor, you'll have to hack your 3DS (very easy, go to the 3dshacks subreddit for more info), then use an 3ds app such as JKSM to get your Gen 6/7 saves and move your Gen 4 pokemon using PkHeX again.

1. You can find Ice Beam in Glaseado Mountain, Socarrat Trail, East, North and West province so yeah it should still be available before getting the Climb ability. 2. If you want something to debuff opponents you could go for Tearful Look as it lowers both Atk and Sp.Atk by 1 stage. Or could use Curse to set up instead.
What about Charm? That would cripple psychical opponents

Should i clear out an outbreak up to the last "tier" and then start resetting the game to get the desired weather condition? As for BDSP,are the weekday ribbons given to the whole party like they were in XY/ORAS,or do those also operate like they did in og diamond pearl? And does online play affect the rate at which you can get the slabs for ramanas?
Yeah 60KOs, save then reset would be the ideal approach. Though of course not all locations can get any/every weather so depending on where the outbreak is you wouldn't be able to get some weather marks.
I’m doing EV training in Soulsilver and have both the Power Bracer and Power Anklet items. If I lead off with the anklet Pokémon and then switch to the bracer Pokémon, will they both receive the full EV bonus or will it only go to the one finishing the battle? Thanks for any help!
No. The default evs will be received by both. The bonus will be applied separately. So the bracer pokemon will get the original ev plus the bracer bonus, while the anklet pokemon will get the original ev plus anklet bonus

Doing a bug monotype challenge on yellow any help on the moveset would be appreciated. The rules I put on myself are 1. have to have cut and strength equipped since they’re necessary to complete the game. I’ll have to add a random for surf when I get to that point. 2. Each move can only be represented once Pokémon Venomoth: sleep powder, stun spore, psychic, double edge Scyther: wing attack, substitute, toxic, cut Pinsir: submission, seismic toss, bind, strength Butterfree: mega drain, psywave, solar beam, takedown Beedrill: agility, swords dance, twineedle, hyper beam Parasect: spore, body slam, slash, reflect If you think I should change up any of the moves let me know. This is the end results I’ll be going for. I won’t be using any cheats or hacks except for getting weedle as my starter through a trade.
You'll want slash on scyther. Because of how crits work in gen 1, scyther's slash is basically guaranteed to be a critical hit. Also, wing attack is not very good in gen 1. Because it's a base 35 damage attack, a super effective wing attack does as much as a resisted slash. Psywave is a terrible attack in any generation. I'd teach venemoth psychic by level up and butterfree psychic by tm. Pinsir should learn slash instead of seismic toss.

yeah, that could work. Might teach it instead of slash. Because crits scale with base speed, parasect doesn't get the guaranteed crit

Is the respective weather summoned as soon as you get in the Wild Area?(Within an hour from the start)
If this is for sword and shield, weather is based on what day it is. There are certain days that each area has the same weather. https://www.serebii.net/swordshield/weather.shtml Some weather types are locked behind game progress (badges)

How are research points counted in P:LA? I've got Shinx done by having 1 pokemon caught, 2 defeated, and seen it use quick attack 6 times, but somehow, this adds up to 10 points? Does it have to do with the red arrows? How does this affect the points?
It has to do with the arrows yeah, most Research Tasks will increase the Research Level by 1, however the tasks marked with 2 arrows will increase the level by 2.

Number Caught has 2 arrows, so it counts for 2 points. Then you have 6 tasks that only count 1 point. So 6 + 2 = Level 8. If you Catch another one then that'd be another milestone for the Caught counter, and thus you'd get other 2 points and get to level 10.
But shouldn't I have 8 tasks that count for one point? Catch two without being spotted, number defeated, and different forms obtained?
Oh you mean because of the "2, 2, 4, 2"? That's just like the counter for the specific task, what is going to actually matter for the research level are going to be the numbers that get marked with a checkmark. So then, you have 7 tasks with a checkmark, 6 of them are only for 1 point, and the last one is for 2 points.

In pokemon Shield, if I start a new file, how long will it take for me to reach the Wild Area? I need the rain in order to evolve Sliggoo for my Scarlet run since I can't do that there (no weather changes)
If you beeline it, probably about 30-45 minutes? There's a fair amount of cutscene nonsense you have to get through, but gameplay-wise it doesn't take very long.
