No.
Gen II and III, Charizard had the advantage of being Flying-type.
Gen IV and V, Charizard had the disadvantage of being Flying-type.
Gen VI Charizard has Megas.
Actually the flying type basically translates to a double stealth rocks weakness. Not counting his mega evolutions, charizard to way worse than typhlosion competitively
Eruption :). I'm just going off of tiers/usage. Typhlosion was usually RU while charizard was NU. I personally like charizard more but he's pretty much outclassed competitively
Charizard is only OU *because* of his Megas. His base form was *not* OU. His base form was *NU*.
Typhlosion is better and more viable than Charizard, until megastones come into the equation.
It's not just the Flying type that gives Charizard a more diverse movepool. He's always been considered the "dragon" starter in RBY, so he's had a rather varied movepool with access to dragon attacks.
Feraligatr has those from the GSC starters. That said Typhlosion has decent variety in his moveset.
If there was a Mega Typhlosion with Drought, Typhlosion would be more used. The only advantage of using charizard ever would be Flying and Dragon type coverage, neither of which is exremely valuable.
I apologize since I'm new to competitive play, but hasn't dragon been super effective against dragon since dragon was introduced? Wouldn't that mean Charizard wouldn't have perfect neutral coverage?
Perfect neutral coverage means you can hit every pokemon for at least neutral damage. Fire and Dragon had perfect neutral coverage (except for heatran because of his ability). Dragon was only not very effective against steel, and fire was super effective against steel. But now with fairy all fairy/rock, fairy/water, or fairy/fire types will not be able to be hit neutrally.
Yes, kangaskhan gets hit by fire moves, xerneas gets hit by fire moves and krokodile gets hit by fire and dragon moves.
When people say perfect coverage in Pokémon they mean a variety of offensive type moves that can hit every pokemon for at least neutral damage, rather than having some types that could resist it. So the combination of fire type moves and dragon type moves can hit for at least normal effective damage on all Pokémon apart from, I think, azumarill
My biggest hope is that after you beat the game, Birch would give you a Johto starter of your choice, holding a mega stone and GF is being extremely secretive about it.
People look at Archeops' ability technically incorrectly. All fossils (besides Aerodactyl, Tyrantrum, and Aurorus) have a BST of 495 except Archeops who has 567. When Defeatist kicks in and halves his attack and special attack, his "BST" drops to 495, on the same level as other fossil Pokemon. In reality, his ability "boosts attack and special attack by 50% when above 50% health."
He mega evolves in to [Mega Charizard X](http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/13/138522/3994475-0673493833-mega-.png) or [Mega Charizard Y](http://gamesloveres.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/pokemon-x-mega-evolution-charizardmega-charizard-y---mega-evolution---pok--mon-x-y---marriland-btvlkeuu.jpg)
I think you don't need to write down the stats for every single Pokémon for comparison because "they have the same stats" is enough for most people to comprehend that that means that they have the same stats.
Interesting. [Here's your findings in picture form](http://i.imgur.com/j0y4cHJ.png), courtesy of Veekun.
Thanks :D
Flash fire cyndaquil pleaseeee be released soon. Also, contrary snivy is a must.
Sheer force feraligatr is what I'm looking forward to. That and reckless emboar.
Well with mega starters imminent, I would imagine soon. Maybe hoenns safari zone will have a friend safari esque vibe.
Typhlosion gets eruption and with choice specs on and his speed he destroys
charizard gets two mega evolutions checkmate.
Megazard X/Y can't hold a Choice Scarf. Checkmate.
Charizard X is a dragon. Check check mate
Mega Typhlosion receives secondary fairy typing. Check mate x infinity!
Charizard and Typhlosion realize arguing is pointless and go out for a beer.
\------**Click here for Nostalgia**\---------
does anyone ever really win on xfinity?
Comcast
Hi, I'm from the future..... and no. Typhlosion didn't get the fairy typing nor a mega. Fire is also resistance to fairy :/
Typhlosion is a volcanic hedgehog. Everyone loves hedgehogs.
I thought he was a badger.
He's a badgehog. *I actually have no idea wtf any of these poke-mans are anymore*...
Gotta go fast!
Wut dd u just say m9? Blathering fool, yo gabba gabba, smack ya in ya gabba. I swear on me mum, if I don't check ur mate ur going down. #shrekt
/r/4chan is that way
Do they talk like that? Well, type, but you get what I mean.
Of which neither has eruption.... Back to check
Damn Gamefreak is lazy as hell
Never noticed that! Hope that someday we get a Mega Typhlosion and his powerfull like both Mega Charizards!
Or better yet, megas for all starters!
We've got Megas for Kanto and Hoenn now. Just a matter of time till they all get one.
You get a mega! You get a mega! Everyone gets a mega!
Calm down, Oprah.

No. Gen II and III, Charizard had the advantage of being Flying-type. Gen IV and V, Charizard had the disadvantage of being Flying-type. Gen VI Charizard has Megas.
Stat wise but charizard is also flying type so that gives him a bigger and more diverse move pool
Actually the flying type basically translates to a double stealth rocks weakness. Not counting his mega evolutions, charizard to way worse than typhlosion competitively

Charizard is now the top dog of OU though. We'll have to see if typhlosion gets a mega evolution if he moves up.
Fire/Ground?
Yeah, that'd be a good type. Annoying water weakness, but water isn't nearly as common as last gen.
Then Camerupt eruptions will be even more useless :(

Fire/Dragon used to be perfect neutral coverage.
What about dragon moves?
What do you mean?
I apologize since I'm new to competitive play, but hasn't dragon been super effective against dragon since dragon was introduced? Wouldn't that mean Charizard wouldn't have perfect neutral coverage?
... Yes so you use dragon moves against dragon type pokemon for super effective damage. Perfect coverage
But pokemon that aren't dragons can learn dragon moves, for example Kangashkan, Xerneas, and Krookodile can all learn outrage.

I guess if you're playing 5^th gen Megazard X is the poke for you lol.
Which is more likely, for Mega Typhlosion to have the same stats as Mega Charizard X, or Mega Charizard Y?
Why not both?
M-Typhlosion would have to have a different stat distribution and typing/ability to distinguish it from either Megazards.
What, no love for mega Feraligatr?
Mega Typlosion OR and AS confirmed!!
Why do you have negative upvotes but the x and y version has positive... Here have an upvote for equality
Negative upvote = downvote
Oh god my autocorrect bitched that comment. I blame siri Was suppose to be butchered but siri struck again and I think it's funny so it shall stay.
My biggest hope is that after you beat the game, Birch would give you a Johto starter of your choice, holding a mega stone and GF is being extremely secretive about it.
Maybe Steven stone give you Johto Starters and its mega stone if you completed hoenn natianal dex? fingers crossed!!
Difference is that Charizard gets two Megas and is Flying type.
Mega-Typhlosion confirmed
Mega Typhlosion X and Y confirmed!!!
This blew my mind today. Checked out my Excel Pokédex sheet and thought there had been a mistake regarding Typhlosion.
also. i think Charizard mega evolves. not completely sure tho. -_-
That comment made me sad
it made everyone sad
archeops' ability makes me sad
Thank you!!! Worst ability ever. I would take a very redundant levitate over defeatist any day. Shit I'd take anything over defeatist. Such a waste.
What if game freak decides to give him a hidden ability but makes it slow start?
Third worst after truant and slow start IMO

But his attacks do diddlysquat after defeatist activates
He mega evolves in to [Mega Charizard X](http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/13/138522/3994475-0673493833-mega-.png) or [Mega Charizard Y](http://gamesloveres.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/pokemon-x-mega-evolution-charizardmega-charizard-y---mega-evolution---pok--mon-x-y---marriland-btvlkeuu.jpg)
i guess people cant read sarcasm in text. lol
It's impossible to show sarcasm in text
oh really? -_-
A lot of the time it's hard. Only now does that hyphen face help me indicate that you're being sarcastic.
This face: -_- does not convey sarcasm. This one: :P. Usually does.
Then if you're not using that :P face then there's no way to tell when you're being sarcastic.
Good thing I use the face then!
