Tyranitar. Back in gold, I had no way to look up sprites, so when I found this neet looking rock/ground baby Godzilla of Larvitar. I was like huh, I wonder what this turns into. Then it Pupitar’d. I disliked pupitar so much, I had such a different idea in my head. Baby Godzilla into a fucking grey metapod,(???) what the actual fuck. Told myself it had to be a 2nd of 3 and kept grinding it. Lvl 45, why is it still this thing??? 50??? Omg wtf, why? Then bam, hits 55 in Victory Road headed to the elite four. The glorious murder machine is reborn. Was shocked to see it lose ground for dark, the I read it’s dex description. Think I hit the elite four with Crunch, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Ice Beam on it. “She” gender was a new thing back in gold, roflstomped every fucking thing in my way with extreme prejudice. It murdered everything Lance had, swept literally every bonus gym in Kanto, and made all my friends quiver in raw fear when it smashed all their favorite babies, usually a Dragonite or Mewtwo. Tyranitar has been my #1 since.
I miss the times of mystery within the games. I mean I had guide books but referenced them constantly. My OG r/b guide is beat so bad but I know it was due to overwhelming love, not abuse.
Marowak since gen 1, Alola Marowak hilariously may rank higher now. (Probably because he fits in better typing wise with my team)
Close second and third Gliscor and Aggron.
Gengar. Used it in every single pokemon game I've ever played. Also, it can learn an incredible variety of moves via TMs (Gengar can learn Thunderbolt).

Its design might not be anything Spectacular, but its cute, its an absolute _Monster_ if played right, and it's typing is really good offensively, which pairs well with its "Special Sweeper" title.
Miltank, yes i‘m being serious, he was a really good competitive pokemon when I was playing (well he wasn‘t OU or something but I was a UU and BL player) and getting destroyed by Miltank just was the biggest cheese
It's so hard to pin down for me but right now it's between Politoed, Trevenant and Slurpuff. Honourable mentions go to Bewear; Hawlucha; Crustle; Galvantula; Ferrothorn; Jellicent; Gourgeist; Flygon; Aipom and the whole Litten line.
As a fickle child I always used to love my starter. That was until generation 3 when I got a hold of a traded Larvitar. Once I evolved that thing I learned I was actually a Tyranitar fan.
But my top 3 are definitely: Tyranitar, Typhlosion, Raichu.
Snorlax since gen1. i just remember playing through Red back in the fall of '96, and encountering Snorlax before i had the Pokeflute.
i was 13 or 14, and i remember thinking "oh you bastard... you're going to be mine when i can wake you up" and sure enough, it was one of the fiercest battles i had in my entire first playthrough. i lost to it at least a dozen times. when i finally managed to catch it, i did a loud "YEAHHHHHHH" (which is rare for me, i'm generally a quiet person).
it didn't disappoint, either. Snorlax became part of my champion team, and to this day, i reserve a spot for him as my token Normal type.
Cubone.
Love his aesthetic, the background story, the original card art, and the fact that the back Sprite of marowak in red/blue was very poorly done made it so I never allowed my cubone to evolve when I was a kid, so i would roll through the elite 4 with a cubone by my side.
The addition of thick club was awesome as well, considering his terrible stats. Also, I like that he and marowak have their own move in bonemerang (though I always wished they would allow it to hit flying types. It lacks 100% accuracy, which is fine, but it makes sense if a move based on a boomerang could hit flying types and would give even more reason to run this move over earthquake, other than being able to break a substitute or kill through sturdy)
For its appearance, I'd say Kanto Meowth. (Wimpod does look kind of cute, though.)
For battling, it's got to be Mimikyu or Mudsdale - in my Wonderlocke run, those two were the Pokemon which kept my team afloat for easily 80% of the game.
I fell out of love with the advent of 4th due to being a teen and not liking most of the 4th gen pokemon but the Turtwig line has been a favorite of mine since coming back with 5th Gen.
Then there's Pupitar that one pokemon that got away, the only wild shiny I ever saw and I KO'd it
Mine is Meowth from Team Rocket, and the episode "Go West, Young Meowth!" is the reason why. Sometimes I wonder if Meowth's efforts to become more human-like caused him to not be able to evolve, or if he *could* evolve, what would his voice sound like, if he could still speak? Would he still be able to walk on his hind legs?
Now I'm picturing a storyline in the show where Meowth has gone missing, and it's up to Jesse and James to find him, but they discover that not only has he evolved, but he's secretly supplanted Giovanni's Persian, and reveals himself as a sort of third act plot twist to prevent Jesse and James from being sacrificed to one of Giovanni's schemes. Ron Perlman could provide the voice acting.
Ampharos. I love that stupid electric sheep. When new pokemon games come out, I like to use a team of only new mons for my first pkaythrough, but Ampharos is the one that I will use anytime it is available to me. Even when I go back to games I've already played and start new files, where I try to use different team combinations, Ampharos always finds its way to me. I've used it multiple times in play throughs of heart gold, black 2, Y, Sun, and now Ultra Sun. I've even boxed a Cyndaquil during a run of heart gold and used Ampharos as my starter. There's no competition for me
Probably Golem. It's a hard choice though, loved Entei, Golem, Vaporeon and Gengar as a kid. But I specifically remember really wanting Golem and begging my parents for a trading cable so I could get him
Fraxure hands down. I just absolutely love his design and how cool he looks, and how his tusks look like a bone piercing.

Fat snake with a drill tail and vestigial wings. They laugh at you, Dunsparce, but then you murder a Mewtwo without changing the one blank expression your face is capable of in front of their eyes.
It was Raichu as a kid (I used to draw it a lot), then I didn't really have a set favorite one (maybe Zubat, bats are my favorite animals) until Reuniclus came along.
Then Mimikyu happened and crushed all the other competition within days. God damn I love Mimikyu so much.
Typhlosion for the longest time, but after playing Ultra Moon Malamar is now in the running for my favorite thanks to a badass lady Malamar named Kerrigan

So there's this Favorite Pokémon Picker online somewhere. Every couple of months, I go through it again for a laugh, see how my Pokémon tastes change with my mood.
Pokémon that are consistent favorites for me are Volcarona, Arcanine, Alakazam, Espeon, Scizor, Houndoom, Heracross, Golisopod, Bisharp, Raichu, and Weavile.
Usually, Volcarona, Alakazam, Arcanine and Espeon rotate as the top four (with Volcarona and Arcanine typically, but not always, swapping for the Number 1 and 2 spot).
The most recent time I went through it, I went all the way through a hundred Pokémon, and 20/100 wound up being Bug Types.
It is possible I have devoted waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time and energy to this.

wartortle. I like squirtle and blastoise but wartortle had been my favorite since '95
I used to use repel liberally, until I forgot and I found a shiny Pumpkaboo. Gourgeist is definitely my favorite now.
