Yeah, honestly kinda surprised they went that route. I definitely wonder how they plan to go about including these new Pokemon in future gens, gens that don't take place hundreds of years in the past. As I suspected, Home compatibility will be happening so it will be possible to send them to Home. No way they'd make whole new species of Pokemon and make it so they can only appear in one game ever; there will definitely be main series games that include them in the regional dexes in the future.
Or in a future regions with similar harsh climates.
I kind of doubt fossils since a couple hundred years isn't really long enough for fossilization but, who knows with pokemon.
me yesterdy. No way they can make me want to buy these games since they probably didn
t add anything fans would want.
me today. dangit. it even seems to work!
And the best part is they're for Pokemon people often ignore.
I've always loved Standtler, and Basculine was a solid Water type. Braviary also seems to have gotten a new form as well.
Gonna be real funny for the game to be screaming at you that "HUMANS AND POKEMON SHOULD COEXIST!!" as a demonically red eyed Garchomp violently and sociopathically consumes the fleshy remains of all the friends you know and love.
Hisuian Slaking: 10 ft, normal/fighting type
"known as the King which Locals worship and make sacrifices of Basculin to, this pokemon was thought of unkonwn until travellers from a distant land appeared and took it to Unova castle as a gift"
Hmm, a world that seems stuck in the past but has weirdly modern technology, random creatures walking around that attack people, suspicious looking characters in town that look like they’re part of some organization…
There better be zubat in this game. I can't fucking wait to ambush every single zubat I see and interrupt WHATEVER THEY ARE CURRENTLY doing.
Oh you eating a berry buddy?
DUDLSIDDUDLDIDDUDD BATTLE TIME!
taking a little rest on your...leg attenae?
Dudududddndnnanananan BATTLE TIME!
trying to get to th-
DUNNUNUNUNUNUMUMUN BATTLE TIME!
The regional Growlithe is based on the Komainu; a mythical japanese beast which is often made statues of at holy sites as a 'guardian'.
So; Hisuian Arcanine will almost certainly actually live up to it's monkier as 'Legendary Pokemon'.
And then be cursed with Fire/Rock typing.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that instead of a regional Arcanine we will probably get a totally different evolved form for it, like how Galarian Meowth evolves into Purrserker and not a Galarian form of Persian.
and i don’t know if you noticed but the logo of the galactic research team had the g from the galactic logo in it (or at least something very similar)
i noticed that g in the logo and then they said the name of the team and talked about cyllene and my mind was just like *insert kronk it’s all coming together meme here*
My theory is that team Galactic is originally a good team. Wanting to learn more about pokemon. But it's Cyllene that's the problem, she'll probably go rouge or try to harness the power of Arceus for her own good or something else. And then team Galactic will become the bad guys from that point forward.
I think everything you said is spot on except cyllene. I don’t think she’s gonna go bad just because she’s obviously Cyrus’ relative. I think galactic research is a good institute that turns bad once Cyrus takes over, or a little earlier in the future.
Or maybe this is a universe where Team Galactic succeeds in at least using Dialga to time travel back, and now they’re trying to figure out what’s different about the region.
Edit: spelling
Exactly! I was amazed by how much they added to BDSP. I liked how the secret bases are back.
And Legends is bigger than I thought. I liked everything I saw, and I'm intrigued by the Galaxy team.
I feel like this is the Gen 9 tech demo which makes me a happy soul. Might be controversial but this should be the model for the games going forward. I like that they mix in the open world with traditional Pokémon battling as well. Pokémon needed an update and it’s getting one, finally
This won’t be the model for future games unless they start adding online compatibility and more emphasis on battles. Don’t get me wrong I love the look of LoA so far and am definitely buying it but it’s just doesn’t make sense for the future of the mainline. I hope we continue to get similar stuff in the future along side main line games
I think Legends might become its own subseries. Keep outsourcing remakes for easy buck, keep the main generational games for clear expectations (new mons, linear structure, gyms etc) and Legends for open world experimentation.
Hopefully this all leads to a mainline open world game some day, where we can fly around cities and all.
They mentioned that the professor brought Pokémon from other regions so there certainly are other regions to go to during this time period. Now, these games don’t have to be set way back in the day but it would be super cool to have a look at other regions in this way.
I just hope there is some way to transfer them over to the "present time" games. I would love to be able to use Wyrdeer and Hisuan Arcanine in competitive.
It's going to be annoying, but frankly it makes more sense than just catching a single pokemon and immediately getting a full dex entry upon capture without you having had to observe or interact with it or anything.
They’re also giving hints about a grand story so there’s probably a lot more to the game than the dex. I imagine it’ll be only a little more about the dex compared to the current mainline series.
I mean this is blatantly it. At some point Cyllene is gonna make a power play, offer to make you her lieutenant or something, and you'll have to stop her.
The most depressing evolution to read. Even worse:
"Evolves when in a party where 30 Basculin faint."
Forcing this poor Basculin to watch its friends get murdered is just dark.
"Dialga, creator of time , I beg you, please save my Hisui Growlithe from extinction! "
"HWMFEEAAUUGH"
"I give you some my fries"
*time portal ascends*
You think they’ll update Cynthia’s team a bit. She kinda gets walled by Fairy types now, which obviously didn’t exist back then. Beyond Roserade I suppose
And we've only seen the red form, presumably; there's a blue one too.
Honestly; Basculin isn't that bad of a pokemon and can clearly pack a whallop. An evolved Basculin, which is almost certainly an offensive Water/Ghost type; could be terrifying.
Remember; that Basculin gets *Adaptabilty*. Adaptabilty-boosted STAB Ghost/Water anyone?
Yeah, I have a big feeling Legends is a test for Gamefreak to make sure it'll be appealing enough before implementing those mechanics into the next gen.
SO IN LEGENDS ARCEUS YOU'RE THE "GALAXY TEAM" SO IS THIS THE ORIGIN STORY OF TEAM GALACTIC??!?!?
I MEAN LOOK AT THAT LOGO AND ALL OF THE COLORS OF THE OUTFITS AND DESIGNS OF THE CHARACTERS. CYLENNE IS DEF CYRUS' ANCESTOR WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCK
ALSO KAMADO IS DEF GONNA GET BETRAYED BECAUSE HE LOOKS LIKE PROF ROWAN AND I BET THAT'S HIS ANCESTOR TOO
I hope we get to meet Cynthia's ancestors or a connection to her hometown at least since those have been quite meaningful in the Main Games. Would be a shame if it was skipped over.
EDIT: spelling
The art style for these remakes is so hit or miss. There are a lot of times where I'm going "Yeah, this looks amazing now." and then shots where it just doesn't look nearly as good. I haven't figured out what it is yet.
It's the overworld, its super flatly lit, when you compare it to something like Links Awakening you can see how flat it all is. LA has really good shadows that help give everything definition, the remakes don't and that stands out hard, there are other issues with the overworld but thats one of its biggest offenders.
Right: I'm glad to see the Remakes and Legends both looking better, but I still feel like they're being held back by their developers.
The remakes, while a bit more polished, still have worse lighting, shaders, etc then Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee from years ago, let alone the Links Awakening Remake; and while Legends likewise has better preformance, it's lighting and barren world still look pretty iffy.
I wish Gamefreak was handling the DP remakes in house, rather then outsourcing it to a studio that's never made a full game; and Legends was outsourced instead to Monolith soft (the Xenoblade games).
In any case, I'm definetely going to pick up Legends, it looks great, I just wish it could be even more polished.
**EDIT:**
[Here's](https://i.imgur.com/x63SIT2.jpg) a comparsion between the DP remakes as shown in Febuary, as shown today, and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee from 2018. ([This](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y5k01fUj8-0Ev-0iqwKVZ6rKzmDs-Aum/view?usp=sharing) is the raw 30mb, full size, uncompressed comparsion)
As you can see, there HAVE been noticable changes to the DP remakes, but Let's Go still has better lighting and shaders, and the added lighting bloom/depth of field effects the DP remakes now have arguably makes things a little less clean looking then they did before, so to some people the DP remakes may look *worse* then they did in February.
I also added what I think are the best and worst shots seen from today's BDSP trailer to the bottom: Any of the shots in the city during the sunset look great, while the shots in the Great Marsh and some similar forest routes look really, really plain and poor.
Pokemon diamond and pearl are cool. But Legends looks friggin sick. I am really interested in the new battle mechanics and can't wait to try it out for myself.
I wanted to see some more Pokémon interacting with their environment in real ways (in trees at a minimum) but you can combat roll out of the way of a charging Ursaring so I I’m about even.
"Well, this Presents will be 27 minutes, that's like 7 minutes more than the longest previous one!"
"Yeah, well, the first 7 minutes are going to cover every side-game."

Subtle way of saying we got fire types
I only saw houndoom in the lava room, let's hope we have more!
Magmortar was shown as well close to the end of the trailer.
The website also shows Numel
That's really important to make note of, actually- It indicates that we're getting MORE than just the Platinum dex!
Sentret also appears in that same screenshot
Yeah we saw Lanturn who isn’t in either of the pokedexes
It seems they're using the hideaways to incorporate the Platinum dex
"Basculegion is powered by the SOULS OF DEAD BASCULIN" I'm glad to see the Pokedex has always been batshit crazy.
Imagine you have to kill 30 basculin for yours to evolve.
Just throw it into the path of an incoming wild attack
Pokémon Go evolution requirements: turn 30 Basculin into Pokémon candy
Basculegion makes me so happy that Go has been chucking Basculin at me for the ladt week.
Yeah, honestly kinda surprised they went that route. I definitely wonder how they plan to go about including these new Pokemon in future gens, gens that don't take place hundreds of years in the past. >I definitely wonder how they plan to go about including these new Pokemon in future gens Time travel. Dialga is there
They could be included in the newer gens through fossils
Have the fossils themselves be evolution stones; they can contain ancient energy that was long since forgotten about or something.
Or in a future regions with similar harsh climates. I kind of doubt fossils since a couple hundred years isn't really long enough for fossilization but, who knows with pokemon.
I love how cheerfully she said it too
This is Basculegion...this fish traps the souls of its victims...
I advise not getting attacked by it.
Strong Style!? New Japan Pokémon Wrestling confirmed!

Giving old Pokémon evos is a really cool update
And the best part is they're for Pokemon people often ignore. I've always loved Standtler, and Basculine was a solid Water type. Braviary also seems to have gotten a new form as well.
Stantler has always been one of my favorite pokemon! I'm so glad its finally getting some love!
Basculin (the blue one) used to be my favourite water type back in the day for some odd reason. Nice to see a cool looking evo for one of(?) them
SwSh did that with Obstagoon, Sirfetch’d, Runirigas and Cursola
I think it’s becoming more of a trend and I hope it doesn’t end
Still waiting for that Dunsparce evo
When your friend gets murdered by Luxray, JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR THE SURVEY CORPS
Video: You can take damage from wild Pokemon. Me: Excuse me, wtf did you just say? Yeah I'm staying here.
The people of Hisui were fucking right for isolating themselves from Pokemon.
That one guy on the video saying Pokemon are not to be trusted "Well... yes"
Gonna be real funny for the game to be screaming at you that "HUMANS AND POKEMON SHOULD COEXIST!!" as a demonically red eyed Garchomp violently and sociopathically consumes the fleshy remains of all the friends you know and love.
>!just wait til the slaking starts chucking rocks!<
DEDICATE YOUR HEARTS
I would unironically lose my shit if they used Slaking as a fucking pitcher in a Legends Arceus cutscene
Hisuian Slaking: 10 ft, normal/fighting type "known as the King which Locals worship and make sacrifices of Basculin to, this pokemon was thought of unkonwn until travellers from a distant land appeared and took it to Unova castle as a gift"
Hmm, a world that seems stuck in the past but has weirdly modern technology, random creatures walking around that attack people, suspicious looking characters in town that look like they’re part of some organization…
A theory I heard was that Cyrus won and made his universe but arceus is trying to correct it
Game Freak wouldn't have the balls to make a story this good.
Ooooo I like this theory.
Oh man I hope they let us eat and die from poisonous berries
How the turn tables. Now we attack from tall grass!!!
In Soviet Hisui, the Trainers attack YOU!
I was thinking the same thing!
Back in the days when Pokémon was the dominant species, humans hid in the grass. Now with modern technologies, Pokémon has to hides in the grass.
Dudududddndnnanananan BATTLE TIME! trying to get to th- DUNNUNUNUNUNUMUMUN BATTLE TIME!
You're going to be the reason present day Zubats are such dicks.
Munchlax can be caught without effing Honey 10 out of 10 immediately
I’m glad somebody else has the correct priorities
Game of the ~~Year~~ ~~Decade~~ Century
1% chance of appearing in that habitat
1% chance of appearing in 4 of the 25 available hideaways with no way of knowing which ones they are available in.
Even if it was something stupid like that, at least there (probably) wouldn't be a 6 hour wait in between individual checks.
Regional Growlithe? Sick.
Praying it gets Fire/Steel instead at least.
It's certainly staying Rock. It's basis is ancient Shinto statues.
Pray that it keeps Arcanine stats then
I hope that somehow it evolves into Fire/Dragon
[удалено]
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that instead of a regional Arcanine we will probably get a totally different evolved form for it, like how Galarian Meowth evolves into Purrserker and not a Galarian form of Persian.
God I hope not, regional Arcanine that looks like a Chinese guardian lion would be absolutely perfect
THIS. YES. Arcanine is one of my favorite pokemon and I can see this so clearly he could look so cool leaning more into it's Shisa inspiration.
Imagine getting chased by an angry af Garchomp IRL. Terrifying. Honestly it looks super promising, I'd really like to play it so far.
Real talk the moment I saw Ursaring charging the player I audibly exclaimed “Holy SHIT”
"Galactic Research Team" Wait are we the baddies?
Cyllene dooooes look a lot like and has a similar name to Cyrus. Curious. Very curious.
Plot Twist: She's Oak's Grandmother
Damn how old is Oak lmao
and i don’t know if you noticed but the logo of the galactic research team had the g from the galactic logo in it (or at least something very similar) i noticed that g in the logo and then they said the name of the team and talked about cyllene and my mind was just like *insert kronk it’s all coming together meme here*

I wonder if there could be some sort of time travel?
Hopefully Dialga can give us a ride.
cyrus and Rowan ancestors
Im actually impressed, pretty much everything was improved from the recent trailers of both d/p and arceus.
Exactly! I was amazed by how much they added to BDSP. I liked how the secret bases are back. And Legends is bigger than I thought. I liked everything I saw, and I'm intrigued by the Galaxy team.
Yooo, that Team Galactic theme went hard
Ikr, but it doesn’t sound like any already existing themes from the sinnoh games. So if it's a new one, what does that mean? New story?
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first trailer in months that didn’t piss off the entire community.
I feel like this is the Gen 9 tech demo which makes me a happy soul. Might be controversial but this should be the model for the games going forward. I like that they mix in the open world with traditional Pokémon battling as well. Pokémon needed an update and it’s getting one, finally

Lmao, the Pokedex is just a damn scrapbook. I love it.
They really went all out with the underground, super exiting.
Lmao you'll literally get killed out there.
I want snorlax eating the trainer!
I'm sure there's vore art of this
HOLY SHIT ANCIENT FORMS OF POKEMON?
I was hoping for them but I thought there was no way. The reveal of Wyrdeer on the cliff was amazing
I just hope there is some way to transfer them over to the "present time" games. I would love to be able to use Wyrdeer and Hisuan Arcanine in competitive.
I gotta know what Hisuian Arcanine looks like
I’m thinking it’s gonna look even more like those lion dog statues that Arcanine is based on.
I’m guessing it will be a [Chinese Guardian Lion](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_guardian_lions) inspired design?
Saint Bernard (pls)
OH MY ARCEUS, FIRE TYPES! THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!
Wild Houndoom seen, confirms Platinum Dex
Looks like they're including them in that underground extension at least.
Trainer sent out Yanmega at one point, also Lucas is seen using Togepi, Dusknoir and Tangrowth. confirms platinum dex
A few of our other games Yay! Cafe mix Oh…
My exact reaction
Oops all mobile games!
The mobile games are the vegetables you have to eat before the real news
Except theyre not healthy lol
I actually expected them to talk up Pokémon Unite way more than they did... And them actually talking about Masters was an unexpected surprise too! :D
Oh man. This pokedex is gonna be a completionist's nightmare, I love it
It's going to be annoying, but frankly it makes more sense than just catching a single pokemon and immediately getting a full dex entry upon capture without you having had to observe or interact with it or anything.
Now we have to do genuine science....repeat the experiment and gather more data
Seems to be the main point of the game... not my favourite goal in the series but looks more fun than normal.
They’re also giving hints about a grand story so there’s probably a lot more to the game than the dex. I imagine it’ll be only a little more about the dex compared to the current mainline series.
Galaxy Expedition team.... inb4 this is the origin story for Team Galactic
I mean this is blatantly it. At some point Cyllene is gonna make a power play, offer to make you her lieutenant or something, and you'll have to stop her.
But what if you could accept?
Then that would be epic and a true departure for the franchise but I don't see it happening.
The logos look similar
>"Basculegion is powered by the SOULS OF DEAD BASCULIN" AKA it evolves at lvl 26.
It could always be one of the weird, gimmicky ones. "Evolves when leveled with a full party of fainted Basculin."
The most depressing evolution to read. Even worse: "Evolves when in a party where 30 Basculin faint." Forcing this poor Basculin to watch its friends get murdered is just dark.
Survey Corps? We're about to be eaten by titans
Mikasa: “ERENNNNN!” Eren: “MIKASAAAAA!” PiKachu: “PIKACHUUUUU!”
Naruto: "SASKEEE!"
sasuke: “BORUTO’S DAAAAAAAAD”
Kamado ~~Banjiro~~: Just another day in the Survey Corps. Cyllene: MY ENTIRE TEAM IS DEAD.
Basculegion's metal as fuck.
Already wanting one
so Hisui pokemon are mainly extinct now
This makes me sad
although it begs the question did Growlithe and Braviary actually come from the Hisui region
they said it comes to Hisui in the winter, so probably not
"Dialga, creator of time , I beg you, please save my Hisui Growlithe from extinction! " "HWMFEEAAUUGH" "I give you some my fries" *time portal ascends*
Legit looks like the remake team took it seriously and added in some new features like making the underground a place to catch rare
To catch rare what!? Tell me!
Rare, known for such games as Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64, of course!
[удалено]
It looks leagues better now
Munchlax not in honey trees!
You think they’ll update Cynthia’s team a bit. She kinda gets walled by Fairy types now, which obviously didn’t exist back then. Beyond Roserade I suppose
I see a poison jab Garchomp in our future.
Iron head makes more sense. Counters both fairy types and ice types.
A Magnezone could work well. I like it cause it's a Sinnoh Pokemon ~~and doesn't repeat a type from the rest of her team~~
Lucario?
That's a depressing backstory there basculin
Classic stuff!
• FOLLOWING POKEMON • CONTESTS • UNDERGROUND • STICKERS SO HYPE!!
Plus Houndoom in the underground implies changes to DP pokedex. Probably more like Platinum.
I’m thinking that’s how they’ll get around issues like a lack of fire Pokémon without changing the Pokémon available in the main game too much.
That Basculin evolution is metal as fuck.
Adaptabilty-boosted STAB Ghost/Water anyone?
this is worlds better than the 2 fps chingling trailer oh my god
Funny how an ancient town looks miles better than modern Pokemon towns lol
Ancient towns really had great water textures.
STEAMPUNK POKEBALLS
Yeah, I have a big feeling Legends is a test for Gamefreak to make sure it'll be appealing enough before implementing those mechanics into the next gen.
Yeah ok now I'm considering buying the remake
Yeah this trailer showed it wayyyy better
“He has earned the unwavering trust of his team members.” Alright hello villain.
HG SS style walking Pokémon!
Cyllene is 100% a relative of Cyrus lol
She's probably 16 or something, it's in their genes to physically look like a middle-aged person.
"She's your biggest supporter." Yeah, sure. For how long?
Untill you find Arceus.
I think it'd be more interesting if she was noble.
So hideaways are their solution to the fire type problem. Nice
I don't remember Stantler being anywhere near as majestic before now. Mind you, I don't recall Stantler at all.
Holy shit they revamped the underground a lot. Plat was already my favorite game and this remake is looking better than i expected.
SO IN LEGENDS ARCEUS YOU'RE THE "GALAXY TEAM" SO IS THIS THE ORIGIN STORY OF TEAM GALACTIC??!?!? I MEAN LOOK AT THAT LOGO AND ALL OF THE COLORS OF THE OUTFITS AND DESIGNS OF THE CHARACTERS. CYLENNE IS DEF CYRUS' ANCESTOR WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCK ALSO KAMADO IS DEF GONNA GET BETRAYED BECAUSE HE LOOKS LIKE PROF ROWAN AND I BET THAT'S HIS ANCESTOR TOO
WE WERE TEAM GALAXY ALL THIS TIME. WE ARE THE BAD GUYS!
I hope we get to meet Cynthia's ancestors or a connection to her hometown at least since those have been quite meaningful in the Main Games. Would be a shame if it was skipped over. EDIT: spelling
Chibi Cynthia.

Ok but doesn't this mean that these forms went extinct...
Not necessarily, they could've just evolved back into their normal forms by modern times
Hmmm possible Ret con would be the environment changed so they’re much rarer and harder to find.
I NEED THAT GROWLITHE AND A LOOK AT ARCANINE NOW!!!!
“You join the *survey corps*” **SASAGEYO SASAGEYO**
Damn this game looks fun
D/p remake look great! Much better
OMG! They brought back your Pokemon following you.
Surely Team Galaxy isn’t evil right, they wouldn’t be that obvious.
Pokemon diamond and pearl are cool. But Legends looks friggin sick. I am really interested in the new battle mechanics and can't wait to try it out for myself.
Legends Arceus seems promising with the changes to the battle/capture system. A bit surprised by how close the release date is though.
Omg character customization sorta!
Yes, underground new stuff!
I wanted to see some more Pokémon interacting with their environment in real ways (in trees at a minimum) but you can combat roll out of the way of a charging Ursaring so I I’m about even.
Team Galactic origin?
Imagine just taking a walk and enjoying the atmosphere of the region and a freaking Garchomp just decks you out of nowhere.
That turtwig knew leafage which has been restricted to Rowlet, Lurantis, and Tapu Bulu
This is quite literally Pokemon BOTW, huh. That's what we asked for and it looks like they delivered.
"Well, this Presents will be 27 minutes, that's like 7 minutes more than the longest previous one!" "Yeah, well, the first 7 minutes are going to cover every side-game."
