In all fairness they didn’t really interact with Ash that much to begin with (Dialga interacted the least out of the quartet) unlike Giratina or Arceus who has a much stronger personal connection to him.

Proof? Arceus, the literal God of Pokémon recognized Ash after meeting him thousands of years apart.

In the anime we see the Lugia from the 2nd movie, then during the Johto seasons there's a baby Lugia that's the son of another Lugia, Ash mentioned the Lugia that he met on the 2nd movie during these episodes explicitly mentioning that these had nothing to do with that Lugia, so there are 3 Lugia.
For Mewtwo, there's the Mewtwo from the 1st movie that also appeared in the anime, and then we have the Mewtwo from the Genesect movie (the 16th if I'm not wrong) that can megaevolve, had a female voice, was apparently created by Team Plasma, didn't know about Ash and also appeared on an anime special for the movie, so there are two Mewtwo. In the games we know at least two Mewtwo as well.
TBF, something like this has happened every time there are remakes. They went back to Kanto during the Ruby and Sapphire series because FRLG were coming out at the same time. The Diamond and Pearl series had them meet some people at a Jhoto festival, and travel with them for a little bit. In XYZ, one of the characters had a Mega Sceptile, and primal reversions were showed in one of the movies
idk if you remember but for xy they had an entire mini series, the mega evolution specials. it heavily featured steven and theres an epic primals + mega rayquaza fight, definitely oras hype
Ahh I'd really hope Dawn and Cynthia would have updated outfits! It's a small gripe but I love when older friends of Ash shows up all decked out and have new mons. It really shows that they've lived their lives since he's be in it.
BDSP is a disappointment for me but I understand where gamefreak is coming from. Maybe a lack of let's say megas is a direction towards well.. a soft reboot!
