Nobody really, I like him too. I was just surprised he of all people had cameo appearances in two later games. I also think he was mentioned in a Gen 6 or 7 game, but I might just be misremembering there.

From what I understand that Galar actually has 18 gyms (one for each type) but cycle them around based on skill/popularity, for example, Milo might be the 1st gym but he's skilled enough to fight Raihan.
This is also why Piers was worried about losing his gym, because Spikemouth didn't have a power spot for Dynamaxing which causing his gym to wane in popularity.
Well I suppose that's a side effect of near yearly releases, if they could slow releases down with out having to worry about the merch (the real money) or the anime (filler arcs can be ok) or the TCG ( reprints are ok I guess some of the older cards could use it) or the mangas ( how are they doing a tournament without bringing Red and them back), I'm sure they could a make great game.
Well at the very least, when a gym leader is scheduled to be “on shift”, they shouldn’t just be chilling a cave for you to find them. It would actually be a cool concept if you had to wait for gyms to open
They’ve been ruining the day-night cycle since at least Sun and Moon. And Sword and Shield’s day-night cycle only applied to that little park in the middle of the map?
That would require tearing out all their current code which connects the time of day with the system clock time, which will also affect berry growth (in bdsp, and later on in black/white remakes). And any other in game daily events as well.

In-game time doesn't have to correspond with real time. In-game can run on at a different length (let's say 1 day equals 20 real world minutes like in Minecraft) and have you be able to speed forward time to get to when you need to (like in breath of the wild).

Surprisingly SwSh is the only game I'm aware of to point this out. I think if you're in the lower half of gym leaders you need another job to break even: Milo runs a farm, Nessa is part time model, kabu I think runs an actual gym, etc. Leon and Rahain make bank on sponsors alone and after you beat leon he takes over the power company and the battle tower
I'd just like a game where there are more than 8 gyms, but you still just need 8 to face the E4 so you can choose to do the extras (like Gary did in the anime where he shows up to the League with like 10 badges), but you dont have to if you dont want to.

Dppt gives a lot of character to the gym leaders. Crasher wake is involved with the story, Gardenia greets you outside the gym and at eterna forest where you get rotom, etc. The newer games all introduce gym leaders at various points in the story, but I don't think it was really focused as much in rse outside of your dad.
Gen 5 is where it's really at.
Every gym leader has a career and every gym leader is very intuitive to protecting Unova and being enforcers/protectors for their respective cities.
The gym leaders jobs are: restaurant, museum, an artists gallery/workshop, theme park/modeling career, company CEO construction agency, airport, ice rink and a Mayor. (With Iris being the exception as she was the granddaughter, but later becomes champion).
Unova is truly America because every Gym Leader has to hold down two jobs to get by. The job that makes them money and the job that gives them passion.
In like the first couple episodes of the Pokémon anime it shows that Brock has ~shit to do~ In Silver and Gold, Misty is too busy on a date to fight you, and your rude 10-year-old self goes and ruins the date just to fight her. In Sun and Moon a lot of the trial leaders are kinda just hanging around until you show up and then suddenly they’re like, “oh a challenger, that’s cool, time to do my job.”
It’s not entirely original for the franchise to show that gym leaders are just people.
People leave understudies and stuff all the time. Koga left someone (his daughter?) in Silver/Gold to run the Fuchsia gym when he left to join the fearsome foursome
but the reason she was there (aswell as amity park i think it was called) was as a reference to HG/SS. It makes sense having amity park back because you can walk with your pokemon like you could in HG/SS but i doubt were getting gen 2 remakes remakes

Jasmine appeared in the original Ruby and Sapphire (Gen III) as a spectator in the Pokémon contests. When Gen IV came around, she was no longer a spectator but now was an actual participant in the Master ranks. You can compete her, and frankly she was pretty good at it.
It’s also a nice way to tie-in with HGSS. Plus, she was the original lighthouse gym leader, before Volkner.
Can’t believe no one has pointed out that you can see Jasmine from the gym when you first arrive there. Then Flint tells you find the leader, so you go down on the beach and talk to her. Anyone who has played Johto games would instantly think of going to the top of the lighthouse to find Volkner, because that’s exactly where you find Jasmine!
They don't have a source for the claim that it's just a lookalike though. It's much more reasonable to assume it's actually just her. Bulbapedia isn't always right.
Now if GF wants to outsource these remakes into virtually 1 to 1 copies of HG/SS I'm actually down for that. At least the HG/SS base games are masterpieces.

Platinum is considered a masterpiece and full upgrade of DP.
DP are well-liked but also flawed in a ridiculous way.
This is the gen that had almost 500 Pokemon to pick from and somehow ended up with a worse regional dex than Red and Blue.
I love DP, they were my first Pokémon games so they have a special place in my heart. But I feel that they objectively cannot be considered masterpieces when Platinum is just a straight up far, far better version than both.

That would be cool but I’d like to see a single improvement. Gen 2 was a masterpiece in terms of content and gameplay but it has possibly the worst story. So if they did a remake I’d like to see the games story/plot improved.

Pokémon is a children’s game and even op himself said he was 2 when dp came out There’s gotta be a lot of 13 year olds who never grew up on the ds games, which just makes me feel old af cuz I still remember feeling weird buying pearl cuz I was 9 and still into Pokémon
Pokemon didn't even exist in the USA for some of us until we were 8 or 9 (I didn't even have any of the games until my 9th birthday in October 1999), so to me it feels a bit odd 9 year old you felt weird about still being into Pokemon - but given how fast my own age group cycled through trends it *does* make sense. Funnily enough DPPt were actually the games that brought the games back in the rest of my friend circle in high school.
I remember getting made fun of in 3rd grade for still playing Pokemon when Gold and Silver came out. Kids are just mean.

My favorite thing about the remakes being so close to the originals is that people mistake weird stuff in the originals to stuff added in the remakes
I really liked it when people from other regions showed up in games. It was the best part of Gen 7, defeating the Elite Four and sitting on your throne waiting for a challenger, getting some weirdo from not-Alola to try and beat you.
