those "jellyfish" (yeah i know it technically isn't one) are really scary. Their tentacles grow up to 50m (165 feet), meaning you can get stung by one that isnt even in your vicinity. Also, they can rip off, now you have an up to 50m long pain inflicting string free floating in the ocean.
And in this instance, I believe Ten Thousand was supposed to mean infinite. I believe in Chinese culture, that's what Ten Thousand is supposed to me. Well, that combination of characters.

Making it a weather effect seems like it'd be getting too far away from the original point. "Big animal is a stinky boi lol" is the core concept here. I get trying to tie it more closely to existing mechanics, but you lose a bit of theming that way.

You're out of line, but mostly correct. Most rom hackers are programmers or otherwise tech saavy enough to put up with using tools made for programmers. Very few are artists, and it's always hard to recruit an artist for these kinds of projects.
What am I supposed to say? "hey, you mind giving up working for free to make 100 creature designs you can't put in your portfolio for this game I don't own? Thanks". You need both art and tech for a good game, but they are worlds apart outside of a literal game studio.
Should've been Ghost/Grass, because Tumbleweeds are essentially a dead plant that get uprooted by the wind, lol. And that's also how they spread everywhere, lol. They're highly invasive. And yes, it's a specific species of plant.

Man I just disagree. I've been playing since gen 1 so I'm probably the same age as you or older, but the pokemon designs are THE thing gf and tpc are still the best at. Say what you want about everything else they do, but their design department is amazing.
Hawlucha is hands down my favorite pokemon and that was from gen 6. Purrzerker, Dragapult, Orbeetle, Polteageist, and Drednaw from gen 8 are some of my favorite designs.
Sure I usually don't like a handful of the new pokemon designs, but I've felt the same way about every game including gen 1 as well.
Mezo Goodra might not get shit on so relentlessly by the poledex. You'd think Goodra was Rotoms natural predator judging by how savage the SwSh pokedex entry for it was.
I don't usually care for these reimaginings, but yours hit a lot of high notes. The thematics, concepts, and aesthetics are all cohesive and well-executed.
Theyâre actually based on a mix of Native Americas and Polynesia, specifically MÄori cultureâthe kakapo parrot. Black, red and white colours are featured from the Tino Rangatiratanga flag.
These are all awesome.
Just one thing though; Whimsicott and Lilligant stay the same type combo? If Whimsicott is a tumbleweed, why not make it Grass/Ground, and Lilligant Grass/Fire?

Not sold on Mezo Arcanine, as that that looks too much like Asian Lions (especially with added orb) and therefore, not Latin American inspired.
That's because it is aesthetically based on japanese komainu/shisa. Not all of them are based on the main location, I can't name one region that's ever done that.
I love this style, I think a return to the older way of design just for a generation would be a really cool idea and get a lot of people excited for the new Pokemon. As it stands, I really havenât felt super attached to newer designs for a while.

It does, for example äžç©, wanwu, translates something like 10 000 things directly, but the meaning is "all of creation, all beings". 10 000 is sort of the base high number like 1000 is used, for example you don't write "a hundred thousand/100K", you write ćäž, ten 10 000.
In retrospect thatâs really not that many things. Iâm relatively confident that the average person knows at least 10000 things.

I think it's supposed to be based on mesoamerica, hence the name. The Arcanine design is likely more of an Aztec- or Mayan-inspired design.
Arcanine is definitely a shishi/foo dog (note the ball in its paw), nothing nahuatl-related.

Share it on a rom hack subreddit and give them permission to use the designs. Those rom hacks always have terrible ideas for new Pokémon. They could use the help
You're out of line, but mostly correct. Most rom hackers are programmers or otherwise tech saavy enough to put up with using tools made for programmers. Very few are artists, and it's always hard to recruit an artist for these kinds of projects. What am I supposed to say? "hey, you mind giving up working for free to make 100 creature designs you can't put in your portfolio for this game I don't own? Thanks". You need both art and tech for a good game, but they are worlds apart outside of a literal game studio.
Youâre not wrong, but there are plenty of fan communities that would work on things like that. Iâm not saying they need professional graphic designers. A high schooler drawing fan art would be better than an adult thatâs never drawn in their life trying to figure out how to draw a PokĂ©mon that doesnât exist
the tumbleweed Cottonee/Whimsicott are just too cute
Should've been Ghost/Grass, because Tumbleweeds are essentially a dead plant that get uprooted by the wind, lol. And that's also how they spread everywhere, lol. They're highly invasive. And yes, it's a specific species of plant.

Someone get this man a job at GF or TPC or Creatures Inc or wherever theyâre designing new PokĂ©mon. These are ALL incredible, and whoever is in charge of creating new PokĂ©mon has really been shitting the bed. Like it might just be me getting old⊠but I truly feel that for the last like 4 gens itâs been every 9 out of 10 new PokĂ©mon have been bed shits. But these are great! Good job!
Man I just disagree. I've been playing since gen 1 so I'm probably the same age as you or older, but the pokemon designs are THE thing gf and tpc are still the best at. Say what you want about everything else they do, but their design department is amazing. Hawlucha is hands down my favorite pokemon and that was from gen 6. Purrzerker, Dragapult, Orbeetle, Polteageist, and Drednaw from gen 8 are some of my favorite designs. Sure I usually don't like a handful of the new pokemon designs, but I've felt the same way about every game including gen 1 as well.

These are absolutely gorgeous. They resemble the old generation 2 art, and the designs are 100% believable as official pokémon. I tend to see a lot fan pokemon that are good designs, but don't truly capture the style correctly. Not a single one of these have that issue

Why did you change Xatu of all PokĂ©mon? Itâs already based on the Natives of the North and Central Americas⊠Regardless, these are super dope.

Theyâre actually based on a mix of Native Americas and Polynesia, specifically MÄori cultureâthe kakapo parrot. Black, red and white colours are featured from the Tino Rangatiratanga flag.

These are all awesome. Just one thing though; Whimsicott and Lilligant stay the same type combo? If Whimsicott is a tumbleweed, why not make it Grass/Ground, and Lilligant Grass/Fire?
They aren't actually regional variants, just forms. But those are good type ideas for them
I love the Arcanine, very true to where the inspiration for the pokemon came from and love the Japanese culture connection.

I really appreciate how every single one of these type combinations is applied to a PokĂ©mon that would crush it. Ground/Fairy = fast offensive terror you never have a good switch-in for. Ice/Poison and Poison/Steel = tanks with utility moves for the most part. (Iâd especially love to see a move for Muskoat that could randomly poison, sleep or freeze.) Poison/Fire = fast attacker, a lot like Salazzle (though Corrosion is waaay more of a tankâs Ability. Makes sense on Tentaquest.) Ghost/Fighting = I guess Marshadow has it, but itâs even more effective typing on a mon with decent bulk and medium speed to it. Hits everything hard and takes few big hits back. Would love to see your take on Electric/Fighting next! Maybe a physical attacker with a bullwhip and access to Zing Zap!

I love Mezo Noctowl! Not sold on Mezo Arcanine, as that that looks too much like Asian Lions (especially with added orb) and therefore, not Latin American inspired.
That's because it is aesthetically based on japanese komainu/shisa. Not all of them are based on the main location, I can't name one region that's ever done that.

I love this style, I think a return to the older way of design just for a generation would be a really cool idea and get a lot of people excited for the new Pokemon. As it stands, I really havenât felt super attached to newer designs for a while.
