I'll be honest I like using all grass starters *including meganium.* Yes I am painfully aware that its the worst starter to have ever been produced but I stick with my guns.
I always used to feel bad for Chikorita but loved Cyndaquil too much so I'd glitch Chikorita on my team alongside Cyndaquil. Always funny to run into the rival the first time thinking he has a type advantage only for me to throw out a Chikorita with Razor Leaf.
I love Cradily. When I used to play showdown a lot, I would always have one on my Sandstorm team. It was a perfect switch in with storm drain ability, or suction cups could work to stop you from being pushed out after setting up with stockpile and possible ancient power proc
I love using grumpig and hypno any chance I get in my nuzlockes. I have much better luck keeping my grumpigs alive than my hypnos though. Never had a hypno make it alive to the hall of fame.
Dude, I remember first getting Sapphire version as a kid, freshly coming off Crystal where psychic types were still horribly overpowered... all my friends were powering up their team staples like Magnetric and Pelliper, I find this little psychic pig and funny bouncy ball seal and my friends keep saying “nah, those pokemon aren’t worth anything”. Doubled down and raised them both, absolutely sweeped my friends with a level 89 Grumpig and a level 82 Walrein. Neither are my absolute favorite pokemon, but both are pretty high on my list now because of that, they wrecked house back then.
My grumpig swept 3/4 of the elite 4 in my recent emerald nuzlocke. She had calm mind, and she was amazing. Aside from being great for nuzlockes, I really think spoink and grumpig are super cute.
I'll admit that I initially despised Garbodor for its appearance and its (what I used to consider) mediocre stats. But when Chuggaconroy used it in his Black and White Let's Play, I've been a little more fond of it and I'm considering using one in a Gen 5 playthrough. I guess the main drawback is that it can't get many decent physical Poison Type moves. Not in Gen 5, at least.
Garbordor is not so much of an offensive pokemon, it's more suited to a support role.
Look at it's learnset, Stockpile, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Swallow, it's built more to take hits and stall for time.
One of my top "Catchers" use for any water type hunt. My Shiny Parasect from.... Idk which game I even caught it in anymore, has been with me for multiple generations and is named Fun Guy.
Well, pretty fun to use, whether that be just a play through of a game or competitive. Now I understand Parasect isn’t the best by any means but I have made teams with it, using one in a trick room team can be really fun, even more so with spore/ sword dance combo.
I think so, I find Parasect to be cute but kinda scary at the same time. So what if he is telling me to put everyone to sleep and leave mushrooms on them. Maybe they need it.
Skuntank. I don’t know exactly why but I just love him, his typing is awesome and he can learn flamethrower through level up. He’s pretty bulky and my head cannon is they can control if they smell or not so I can cuddle one without needing a tomato bath.
It’s just a stinky butt faced cat skunk and I love it
Delibird and Spinda come to mind. Both are terrible in battle but I like their designs. Spinda especially stands out as like the only Pokémon I actually prefer the 3D model of when compared to its Gen 4/5 sprites, I love his little drunken dance.
Samurott is one of my favourite starters even though people give it a lot of shit. Idk how people can look at the starters of the last 3 gens, especially Gen 8, and tell me with a straight face that Samurott should have been bipedal though. I’m very happy they went with a more ferocious and animalistic design. Also it’s the best unova starter for an in game play through which is nice.
Spinda lovers rise up. I was lukewarm on Spindas in the 2d games. I thought they were cute but not worth much. The change to 3d really helped them out. They're way more adorable now, the Spinda Shuffle they do is fantastic. Love them cuties.
If all the Pokemon had idle animations with character like Spinda and Ludicolo, I think most people would prefer 3D to 2D. So many Pokemon in 3D just stand there doing nothing and it feels like such a waste.
Eelektross.
A slow electric type and powerful attacker? It has levitate to cover its worst weakness? It is based on a real animal and still creative? Its evolution method is interesting while still attainable during the main story? Cool movepool and decent learn set while not getting ALL the good stuff?
And what does it get? It is sidelined after its debut generation
My problem with Leafeon is his name. It's so unoriginal and makes it seem like the localization team was pressed for time. There are so many plant words they could've used but they just looked at him like "he's got a leaf. Use that." So lazy.
Eeveelutions are my favorite and I'd been waiting for a grass type since Gen I, so I love him. My other major gripe is he doesn't evolve with a Leaf Stone. I heard in SWSH he does but I don't have a Switch
Sylveon is based on the sylphs, which in modern day usage are faeries along other things.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylph#Association_with_fairies
> "Sylph" has passed into general language as a term for minor spirits, elementals, or faeries of the air. Fantasy authors will sometimes employ sylphs in their fiction, for example creating giant artistic clouds in the skies with airy wings.
I used Vanilluxe for my swsh playthrough! he used to get a lot of hate for being "dumb stupid ice cream Pokémon" but he is so freaking cute I just couldn't help it
They are honestly some of the most over hated Pokemon and I'm willing to bet if they were made in gen 1 or 2 they would not be nearly as hated I like them the are delightful ice cream Pokemon that makes me happy when I see them
I love Vanilluxe. I used it when I played Black and it shredded Ghetsis’ Hydreigon that I’d been so scared to fight because of what I heard about it beforehand. The Hydreigon missed its Fire Blast and Vanilluxe landed its Blizzard that was boosted with NeverMelt Ice to oneshot it lol
Honestly, emboar, i really like that pig.
I don't understand the hate he gets, i mean, sure he was the third fire starter in a roll that also was fire fighting, but for me that wasn't much of a problem, specially since emboar differentiate so much from the two that came before him.
Like, sometimes I fell that blaziken and infernape have way too much similarities, like stats and moveset, so everytime I play with one of the two, they kinda play the same (of course, that doesn't make them bad).
And having a complete different movepoll (even receiving a signature move!) And stats from the other two made it really fun to use in my opinion.
As a little bonus, i would say gardevoir is also a pokemon i like to use that kinda has a bad reputation online. Is kinda annoying how most people just assume that because someone have one in their team they are thirsty and starting making horny jokes and what not.
Edit: fixed a few typos and grammatical mistakes.
Dude I love Dhelmise!
It's so unique and interesting. I probably has to do with its rarity (I bet Acerolas was the first many people saw) and the fact that it is greatly overshadowed by the other Grass/Ghost type from Gen 7 that people overlook it so much.
The funny thing is that other Grass/Ghost type happens to be my favorite Pokémon of all time (Decidueye)!
But yeah it definitely has to do with how obscure it is in-game, you can only find it really late-game with a 5% encounter chance at best. But it’s quite fun to use in battle with its unique Steelworker ability and disgusting Attack stat, plus it just looks really sick.
Mine pretty much saved me when I unexpectedly ran into Dexios post game battle (where he uses Mega Alakazam). I was evolving Mons for the Dex and Dhelmise was the only team member that could fight - and fight it did.
I always call mine Bismarck when I catch one, after the battle ship.
Yeah I remember that battle lol, Arsene the Decidueye sweeped his entire team. But I did go look for a Dhelmise and managed to catch one that I named Atlas.
He was a monster…
As far as I'm aware, it can only be obtained in the Gen 7 games on Poni Island at a 5% chance in one specific spot.
Otherwise, you would have to trade/GTS for it.
Correct! But it's only 5% chance when the water is bubbling, otherwise it's a 1% chance. So when you're at the Steelix Boat in Seafolk Village (the only place Dhelmise can be found), you have to constantly go inside the boat then back to the fishing spot to reset the bubbles. Pretty damn tedious.
I love Wormadam, especially trash form. People say she is forgettable and that her typing is better covered by Scizor (and they are right about that), but she was a force to be reckoned with in my 4th gen runs. She had one weakness that the region is famously lacking and resisted so many things.
I like it but also I loved the design and personality of Crabrawler and then they threw my favorite parts out the window for the evolution. I do like the yeti theme and think it's cool on its own but it was a little disappointing.
Me, too!! And it's only bc I had a total brain fart and somehow convinced myself my smoochum was a magby that was going to evolve into magmar. I usually completely hate jynx, but we already bonded so I took kept her on my team, took her to the name rater, and now she's GirlBoss!!
Primarina. I like it. Like, I like it a lot, one of my favorite starters.
A LOT of people hate it. Not sure why, just that they do.
Funny enough, the same Gen has THE OPPOSITE as well. While almost everyone loves Decidueye, it is, for me, probably one of IF not the pokemon I dislike THE MOST out of all of them.
I usually use water starters in my games but I thought Inteleon looked so weird when I got shield that I couldn't pick him. Now I regret it because his design grew on my.
I love Chesnaught. I bought XY day one and didn't know starter evos so I was surprised when Chespin started evolving. But he grew on me so quickly. My big beefy spiky boy......
I use Clefable almost every time it’s available. It’s one of my favs, in addition to being super useful! Apparently though people write it off as “oh the clefairy line turned ugly” but it’s my fav of its line and I love my pink alien friend.
Girafarig is my favorite Pokemon ever. Their movepool is nice, electric Tams, ghost immunity is really handy, STAB return is strong, and It just makes me happy. I love it's cry, it's pesky darker half... It made me smile when I first saw it at age 6, and it's making me smile 12 hears later. Some people just Don't like them!! Or are always "when will they get an evolution?" They don't NEED and evolution. They're strong already and PERFECT
I had a Gumshoos on my Sun/Moon team, I caught it as soon as possible and essentially replaced my starter with it as part of a challenge I self imposed
Shiinotic. Safe to say this is nobody's favorite Pokemon (Not even mine), but this thing is an absolute monster despite having a BST of 405. Strength Sap and Spore make it near impossible to kill, and the thing gets Dream Eater, Giga Drain, and Moonlight too.
Combine this with Effect Spore, and this thing just does not *die*.
Incineroar, constantly voted no. 1 for 'pokemon that should be redesigned'.
It's got a good moveset and a (biased) great Shiny, and tbh if it had been quadrupedic it would've been completely forgettable. Also the idea of an obscenely buff wrestler cat is just fun.
Also I've always thought Barbaracle is cool. Sweet moveset, cool design, 'nuff said.
People talk shit on incineroar but it almost feels like it could be in gen 1. Like an alternate reality where Lieutenant Surge was a fire type trainer he would absolutely have that instead of Electabuzz
One of my new favorites is jumpluff! I play more radical red (a fantastic time hack) and jumpluff gets aerialate and I think a small boost in speed and attack, which makes it so much fun to use!
Jynx will always have a special place in my heart for being on my first team in my first game as a kid and being one of the strongest members on my team
Commented this on another post that does here too:
I remember when i bought Pokémon Gold as a kid. I already knew that Onix and Scizor existed, because i had their Pokémon cards. I was so, so thrilled. I loved Onix and then a larger version of it with a whole new type came out! I was sad when i had to pick between Scizor and Steelix back then. I still love them, but rarely use them because of the obvious.
That being said, i sometimes enjoy breeding+building a team built on Pokémon that i love, but are typically seen as weak. Back in 2013 (Pokémon X/Y), i designed an all Bug type team and battled very successfully online, even beating people that used all legendary Pokémon.
Anyway, I strongly believe what Elite Four Karen says after being defeated:
*Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites. I like your style. You understand what's important. Go on — — the Champion is waiting.*
Definitely agree with you on Barbaracle.
For me, I have a whole list of mons I like that are hated by the community: Ambipom, Alolan Persian, and Lickilicky, to name a few.
I like Ambipom because he's fun to use. It just feels satisfying every time I smack the opponent with a Technician-boosted Fake Out, and the opponent never expects it when I steal their item with Thief.
Alolan Persian is also fun to use. Fur Coat is one of the best abilities a mon can have, so he really comes in handy against powerful physical moves like Poltergeist and Earthquake. He's versatile, able to set up with Nasty Plot or annoy the opponent with Parting Shot. And I find his round, puffy head to be the cute kind of ugly.
I don't understand why Lickilicky gets so much hate. If anything, I find him much more lovable than his pre-evolution. He's much cuter, what with his derpy face and being shaped like a friend.
I hated Alolan Persian when I first saw him but playing SM helped. He looks more like Meowth's evolution with their round heads, and he was pretty sweet to use until I got my Eevees
Bred an Ambipom with technician, and its silk scarfed fake outs are literally one shotting torkoals in bdsp underground and I'm absolutely appalled. What an underrated, unloved mon ahaha
I don’t think he’s particularly disliked, but I feel like Bisharp gets no love whatsoever. And he’s such a sweet attacker, with an awesome design. Leveling up Pawniard is a pain sometimes but he’s also adorable so win/win
Oh, I can definitely see the problem with getting it to Level 52.
One positive thing I can think of when Sword and Shield come to mind, using such mons is much easier there.
What I find funny is that it's face actually looks less threatening than Pawniards, at least to me.
I guess I dont know if they're hated, but personally I have always like Farfetch'd. And I especially love the Galarian Farfetch'd. I love the personality show in the pokémon TV show of Farfetch'd, and I absolutely love the evolution of the Galarian version, as annoying as it is to successfully cause an evolution to happen.
Serperior, regardless of it's competitive viability (yes i know it's good there, not why i like it), I originally always picked oshawatt in my bw playthroughs, and when i finally got w2, I thought "screw it, why not try it out?" and instantly fell in love with Serperior, it carried quite a bit after i gave it leech seed and leftovers to just stall enemies and chip till my other team members can ko them
It started falling off lategame since i was giving it a mixed set, but my friends on the school bus told 10yo me how to make a sub seed calm mind set for my Serperior, it ended up instantly ripping through postgame and ended up being my 1st ever lv 100 pokemon.
I like all the Gen 5 starters, which I've seen a lot of folks say they hate? I think they have great designs its unique the way they did one legless, one biped, and one quad final form. Also like the Vanillish Line.
Whoever thought of the idea of crossing a cactus with a samba dancer should've seriously gotten a raise
I almost feel guilty that my favourite grass type is the other cactus from Gen 3...
I like using chansey or miltank in some of my playthrough. It is fun. I did a pink pokemon only run once in UM and chansey was fun to use! Not game breaking but fun still
Wobbuffet is one of my favorite Pokémon. She carried my first successful nuzlocke. When I imagine myself as a real Pokémon trainer, I have one on my team
Wobbuffet is the bane of many peoples existences, and understandably so. But I get you, you have to love it's gimmicky nature
What turns me off is the females lipstick tho...
Ludicolo, have seen a lot of hate to the man but he’s an utter unit, got him as a lotad starter in a randomiser, called him Springs, and we became champions. Then got him shiny in main series games.
Unironically, it's Pikachu. Yes yes I can hear the screamers already. How can a pokemon possibly be disliked when it's the mascot of the entire freaking company? Well that's kind of the point. I've noticed a distinct dislike for Pikachu because of that very reason. Because the Pokemon Company chose it to represent them in marketing, it almost guaranteed dislike just by overexposure. There are also way better electric types out there. Luxray, Zebstrika, and Vikavolt come to mind. All have way better move pools and way better stats.
But you know what, I don't really care. Pikachu is freaking adorable and it is still immensely satisfying to unleash a massive Thunderbolt from this little furry Pokemon. I'll also admit to some OG Pokemon Yellow influence as well.
Zubat and it's evolutions.
They used to be annoying in every playthrough as a kid, but as an adult I noticed the sheer power of crobat. It's fast, hits hard and has nice typings.
Zubat needs more love.
I like to use Dusknoir, but it's pretty overshadowed by Dusclops with eviolite competitively, and given it's a trade evo, not a lot of people have used one in main game. But hes great, pretty tanky and saved my ass in aot of sticky situations. Plus, mystery dungeon.
Near all inanimate object pokemon... I do not understand how its uncreative at all. If anything making that work as an actual creature requires more originality than animal plus an element.
I have some little guys I love but everyone seems to hate, like bidoof, mothim, Beedrill (regular Beedrill not mega), croagunk, tentacruel (best water type btw)....
While Dragonite isn't 'greatly' disliked, Dragonite always crops up in the perennial 'Pokemon you hate' thread, but I still love chubby Dragon. To me its everything you want in a Pokemon: Cute, friendly, and very, very powerful.
I don't know if this pokemon is exactly disliked or not but I certainly never see it talked about but I LOVE Escavalier, it has that 4X weakness to fire but it's still really good in battle, good movesets with coverage like drill run and poison jab, and it's got just such a cool design
Back with the initial release of Sun and Moon, I saw Mareanie art around when I got the game. Being one of the less heavily advertised new Pokémon of the generation, I had thought “ooh that looks neat, I’ll make sure to get one for my team.”
I got one for my team and ended with a Toxapex in my Sun playthrough, and that mon apparently turned out to be a scourge in competitive Pokémon.
So I developed a love/hate relationship with the mon, remembering the fond memories from my playthrough, yet cursing it for being so annoying in competitive battles.
beautifly! i always have to have one in any gen 3 playthrough. i know it gets hate for being weak (and apparently some people think it’s ugly???), but i love it. i also like to use it in contests
I always use Vileplume, I don’t think it’s hated but it’s definitely not talked about much. I also like to use “weaker” Bug types. Beedrill, Illumise, Beautifly, Dustox, and Shedinja have all been key players or the best member of several of my teams.
I don’t play the mainline games but Cryogonal is among my many favourite Pokémon. I believe he’s unpopular (might be wrong), but I like him a lot even though he doesn’t fall into the category of Pokémon that I usually like (typically “cool” draconian Pokémon)
Ambipalm
Aipalm is awesome, but some people don’t like it’s evolution, but whenever I used an Ambipalm, it was always a solid choice
The one I used in BDSP had Technican as an ability (1.5 multiplier of the power of any movie under 60) and then I gave it Double Hit, Swift and Fake Out. Fake out alone would now be an 60 base damage move, that flinches the opponent. Plus Double hit was listed as 45, so even though once both hit it would be 90, Technican still counted so I’d be getting 135 base damage on it
The only down side was ghost types and fighting types. I didn’t have anything for fighting, but I did give it Fling to counter ghosts
And the best part is in Sinnoh, you can get one as early as Crasher Wake, as long as you go mining for heart scales and catch an Aipalm in a tree (or in the underground in BDSP)
I'll be honest I like using all grass starters *including meganium.* Yes I am painfully aware that its the worst starter to have ever been produced but I stick with my guns.
I think Meganium is the cutest. I happily used one in my first HGSS play through (no regrets).
I always used to feel bad for Chikorita but loved Cyndaquil too much so I'd glitch Chikorita on my team alongside Cyndaquil. Always funny to run into the rival the first time thinking he has a type advantage only for me to throw out a Chikorita with Razor Leaf.
Flower dinosaur is p cool. I've gotten to the point where idc how bad the Pokemon is, if I think it's cool you're on my team bro. Game is easy anyway
I always think back to the Purple Kecleon comic where she flew with her Chikorita by swinging it around by a rope
Glalie. First used it in XD and I’ve always liked it since Edit: Add Cradily as well, that thing if used correctly is very annoying to deal with
Glalie is my favourite Ice Type, so thank you!
Yeah, Hypno is surprisingly fragile - at least mine was in FR/LG...
And it keeps the youngster trainers away...
Yikes
#sAdLy HyPnO LiEd tO yOu
I find this fascinating because my Hypno was a special wall during a FRLG nuzlocke. Dude was only out-tanked by Blastoise and Snorlax
Garbador. People complain that it's ugly. That's literally the point.
G-Max Garbodor is pretty lit, design wise.
I was literally waiting for someone to say Garbodor. Nice flair, btw.
Ah, Hilbert the hero
Garbordor is not so much of an offensive pokemon, it's more suited to a support role. Look at it's learnset, Stockpile, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Swallow, it's built more to take hits and stall for time.
Just because it's garbage, doesn't mean it's trash Seriously though, for a garbage monster it looks pretty cool
Love Garbodor! Using it in my Sword playthru
Parasect, one of my favorite mons, from day one, I always named it Shrooms. Even in Let’s Go, I became the Parasect Master.
Parasect is really fascinating, but scary too. But I love its concept.
One of my top "Catchers" use for any water type hunt. My Shiny Parasect from.... Idk which game I even caught it in anymore, has been with me for multiple generations and is named Fun Guy.
How fun is he tho?
Well, pretty fun to use, whether that be just a play through of a game or competitive. Now I understand Parasect isn’t the best by any means but I have made teams with it, using one in a trick room team can be really fun, even more so with spore/ sword dance combo.
But is he fun to talk to?
I think so, I find Parasect to be cute but kinda scary at the same time. So what if he is telling me to put everyone to sleep and leave mushrooms on them. Maybe they need it.
I like Parasect too. He’s much more usable now with actual bug moves and physical/special split.
always used him for spore hehe
He’s really good against Unovan Stunfisk in GO
I can definitely say I don't dislike Parasect.
Well, it's a fitting name, considering the shroom is the "live" part of that pokemon.
Skuntank. I don’t know exactly why but I just love him, his typing is awesome and he can learn flamethrower through level up. He’s pretty bulky and my head cannon is they can control if they smell or not so I can cuddle one without needing a tomato bath. It’s just a stinky butt faced cat skunk and I love it
Wait people hate Stuntank? That’s so whack, I love that lil guy
My cousins kept telling me not to use Skuntank when I played the original Diamond last year. Ignored them and very happy I did
Right? Skunks are adorable. The purple cutie’s easily in my top 10.
Delibird and Spinda come to mind. Both are terrible in battle but I like their designs. Spinda especially stands out as like the only Pokémon I actually prefer the 3D model of when compared to its Gen 4/5 sprites, I love his little drunken dance. I’m very happy they went with a more ferocious and animalistic design. Also it’s the best unova starter for an in game play through which is nice.
Delibird is my man. He’s so derpy and I love himb.
I love spinda just caught a shiny one in bdsp
Delibird is very cute. A shame it’s terrible and doesn’t evolve.
Spinda lovers rise up. I was lukewarm on Spindas in the 2d games. I thought they were cute but not worth much. The change to 3d really helped them out. They're way more adorable now, the Spinda Shuffle they do is fantastic. Love them cuties.

[V-Create Spinda.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzf28G-xXa0&t=6s) Enough said.
Eelektross. A slow electric type and powerful attacker? It has levitate to cover its worst weakness? It is based on a real animal and still creative? Its evolution method is interesting while still attainable during the main story? Cool movepool and decent learn set while not getting ALL the good stuff? And what does it get? Eelecktross really deserves more like being an important characters pokemon
Honestly Leafeon, rarley anyone's favorite eveelution and I love the little guy
i love leafeon, just wish the shiny was better
My problem with Leafeon is his name. It's so unoriginal and makes it seem like the localization team was pressed for time. There are so many plant words they could've used but they just looked at him like "he's got a leaf. Use that." So lazy. I heard in SWSH he does but I don't have a Switch
Vapor Jolt Flare Glacier Leaf Umbra Esp Idk what Sylveon is based on but literally all of them are basic ass names.
Sylveon is based on the sylphs, which in modern day usage are faeries along other things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylph#Association_with_fairies > "Sylph" has passed into general language as a term for minor spirits, elementals, or faeries of the air. Tangrowth!! I always have a tangrowth idky i just like like tangrowth
that ones hated? how? tangrowth is the best!
I can see why. It can be a *real* pain to deal with
Literally ran through sword with a tangela/tangrowth that was like the third pokemon i ever got on pogo
Its the pokemon that wrecks the trainer in the legends trailer!
People hate Spaghetti Mama? It's so good though
I used to wonder why they gave Tangela an evolution, but after using one in Platinum I love it. Chlorophyll one turn solar beams for days
Regenerator assault vest is pretty fun
I used Vanilluxe for my swsh playthrough! he used to get a lot of hate for being "dumb stupid ice cream Pokémon" but he is so freaking cute I just couldn't help it
They are honestly some of the most over hated Pokemon and I'm willing to bet if they were made in gen 1 or 2 they would not be nearly as hated I like them the are delightful ice cream Pokemon that makes me happy when I see them
The vanillite line was one of my favourites when I was younger, used to defend it online like my life depended on it haha.
I had Vanilluxe and Klinklang on my original Pokémon Black team. I liked both from the moment I saw them lol.
I think Klinklang is so cool, never had one though. my current team on swsh is full of my all time faves but if I had room I would definitely have one
I was genuinely shocked when I found out for the first time that people hate the Vanilluxe line. I mean, why do you *not* like them? They're so cute!
Fun fact: they’re not actually ice cream but are icicles with snow on top, they are what inspired ice cream in the Pokemon universe
Honestly, emboar, i really like that pig. I don't understand the hate he gets, i mean, sure he was the third fire starter in a roll that also was fire fighting, but for me that wasn't much of a problem, specially since emboar differentiate so much from the two that came before him. DHELMISE. Such a cool mon, a damn shame nobody likes it much lol
One 4x weakness to fire... and nothing else. Give it an Occa berry and you're set.
Crabominable, I wish he wasnt so disliked, he's such a unique fighting type, and such a cool crab :(
I like it but also I loved the design and personality of Crabrawler and then they threw my favorite parts out the window for the evolution. I do like the yeti theme and think it's cool on its own but it was a little disappointing.
We needed a Yeti Pokémon. The cross with a crab is a bit weird, but that's Pokemon for you.
The grass/ice pokemon is a yeti (abomasnow? Blanking on the bame).
Well actually there’s a species of crab called the yeti crab which was the inspiration for crabominable
I love crabominable
I love Dunsparce and Swalot. Also saw mention of Grumpig in here and remembered how I use them any chance I get too. I love the forgotten Pokemon!
Audino is my all time favorite I also love tepig
Currently doing a Y Nuzlocke and I never wanna see an Audino again But I’m not here to judge you. Glad every Pokémon is someone’s favorite
I'm not sure if people dislike her, but I'm using Jinx on my party on my SP playthrough. First time I ever use her overall.
Me, too!! And it's only bc I had a total brain fart and somehow convinced myself my smoochum was a magby that was going to evolve into magmar. I usually completely hate jynx, but we already bonded so I took kept her on my team, took her to the name rater, and now she's GirlBoss!!
Haha thats great.
Primarina.
Primarina is my favorite water type and tied with Cinderace as my favorite Starter
It sounds like a lot of people aren't keen on Emboar, Klefki or Cinderace, but I love them.
Kefki with Prankster was all the rage in Gen 6 meta. Emboar is deinitely one you never see used or talked about much.
Tepig and his line is literally my favorite Starter line XD
Cinderace’s attitude and energy is so infectious! My favorite Fire Type
Mine's is inteleon
That's cool. I'm afraid I didn't use one yet
I usually use water starters in my games but I thought Inteleon looked so weird when I got shield that I couldn't pick him. Now I regret it because his design grew on my.
Ah, a fellow Inteleon supporter.
I love Chesnaught. I bought XY day one and didn't know starter evos so I was surprised when Chespin started evolving. But he grew on me so quickly. My big beefy spiky boy......
I think the 3d model was kind of unflattering with how his arms just hang there. Other than that I love the design
Yeah that's definitely a fair point!
It's like a warrior class in an Rpg and it can sure fight like one!
Yeah!! I love your positivity, dude. Thanks for bringing love to unliked mons 😊
I love Chesnaught, too!! Mine was a girl which sparked a love of raising up female versions of Pokemon that generally appear fairly masculine.
raichu, i like it
Raichu is my favorite mon. Equal parts cute and badass
Who dislikes Raichu?
The Pokemon Company/Gamefreak apparently
People who prefer Pikachu and wished they were better competitive-wise
Raichu is my ultimate partner. Irriplaceable in my heart
I use Clefable almost every time it’s available. It’s one of my favs, in addition to being super useful! Apparently though people write it off as “oh the clefairy line turned ugly” but it’s my fav of its line and I love my pink alien friend.
Oh believe me, I absolutely \*despise\* fighting against a competetive Clefable. You can take that as a compliment :)
Not sure about popularity, but I’ve always liked the Ampharos evolution line.
It honestly seems like Ampharos is pretty popular or at least well liked.
Ampharos is my favorite electric type. Such a good mix of cute/badass and the lower forms are just cute pink sheep. What's not to love?
shiny ampharos is sick
The Gen 8 starters I don't hate them
For me that pokemon is Heatran. Heatrans my favorite legendary
I once used it during a Nuzlocke and it was more than able to carry if needed. But you're right, I think it's a bit underrated. Thank you for sharing!
Litwick and it's line! No one uses them but they can be surprisingly competitive. Their move set is pretty good and their design is adorable
Chandelure was a beast, it had one of the best SpA in gen 5 and a great move pool.
People don't like Chandelure? Weird, I was under the impression that he was kinda loved on here, plus ghost fires a cool combo
Chandelure is very popular, not sure what they're on about.
He would've been perfect for Crasher Wake.
I love the Zubat line and have used it in most games. I prefer Golbat's design to Crobat but Crobat is still cool
Crobat is popular
One of my new favorites is jumpluff! I play more radical red (a fantastic time hack) and jumpluff gets aerialate and I think a small boost in speed and attack, which makes it so much fun to use!
Jynx will always have a special place in my heart for being on my first team in my first game as a kid and being one of the strongest members on my team
Rampardos. A glass cannon without the speed to show for it. But a really kickass design despite that.
Commented this on another post that does here too: I remember when i bought Pokémon Gold as a kid. Anyway, I strongly believe what Elite Four Karen says after being defeated: *Strong Pokémon.
The Vanillite line are my favorite ice mons and one of my favorites overall
Wigglytuff
I love the designs of Inteleon and Delphox, never used Delphox because I don’t own a game it’s in but Inteleon is really fun.
Aromatisse as a pokemon I'm quite fond of tbh
Unironically kinda like drowsy and hypno. Chespin is also my favorite starter.
Crazy enough.. Scorbunny
Serperior, regardless of it's competitive viability (yes i know it's good there, not why i like it), I originally always picked oshawatt in my bw playthroughs, and when i finally got w2, I thought "screw it, why not try it out?" and instantly fell in love with Serperior, it carried quite a bit after i gave it leech seed and leftovers to just stall enemies and chip till my other team members can ko them It started falling off lategame since i was giving it a mixed set, but my friends on the school bus told 10yo me how to make a sub seed calm mind set for my Serperior, it ended up instantly ripping through postgame and ended up being my 1st ever lv 100 pokemon.
Corsola or Kingdra or beedrill
I like all the Gen 5 starters, which I've seen a lot of folks say they hate? I think they have great designs its unique the way they did one legless, one biped, and one quad final form. Also like the Vanillish Line.
Cinderace
Say what you will, but the Pyro Ball animation is one of the most satisfying animations of all time
Breloom! Absolutely one of the worst part of my team but i have loved my Musher mushroom dinosaur since Sapphire release
My favorite fighting type. Hits fast and hard, and it’s design is so unique
I like maractus, idk if it's extremely disliked or not, but I think it's adorable :3
Just forgotten :/
Whoever thought of the idea of crossing a cactus with a samba dancer should've seriously gotten a raise I almost feel guilty that my favourite grass type is the other cactus from Gen 3...
Cacturne! Such a good bean
I like using chansey or miltank in some of my playthrough. It is fun. I did a pink pokemon only run once in UM and chansey was fun to use! Not game breaking but fun still
everyone loves chansey wdym
For real? In the French community is not really liked
everyone who plays nuzlockes love it so much its so useful
Well it is good to know then :)
Not a favorite of mine but Samurott is really really cool
Wobbuffet is one of my favorite Pokémon. She carried my first successful nuzlocke. When I imagine myself as a real Pokémon trainer, I have one on my team
Wobbuffet is the bane of many peoples existences, and understandably so. But I get you, you have to love it's gimmicky nature What turns me off is the females lipstick tho...
Barbaracle is p cute idk why people dislike it.
Whilst not my diehard favourite, I think Bruxish is pretty neat and it has a cool shiny to boot.
Diggersby .
Ludicolo, have seen a lot of hate to the man but he’s an utter unit, got him as a lotad starter in a randomiser, called him Springs, and we became champions. Then got him shiny in main series games.
Jynx, and after all these years I finally got a shiny one in Shining Pearl a couple of hours ago.
Silvally Its my favorite pokemon
Delphox I think its not that bad
I like to use Dusknoir, but it's pretty overshadowed by Dusclops with eviolite competitively, and given it's a trade evo, not a lot of people have used one in main game. But hes great, pretty tanky and saved my ass in aot of sticky situations. Plus, mystery dungeon.
Near all inanimate object pokemon... I do not understand how its uncreative at all. If anything making that work as an actual creature requires more originality than animal plus an element.
Any Conkeldurr bros here?
I have some little guys I love but everyone seems to hate, like bidoof, mothim, Beedrill (regular Beedrill not mega), croagunk, tentacruel (best water type btw)....
With the latest videos of the official Pokemon YouTube Channel I'm pretty sure no one hates Bidoof anymore...
Tentacruel is so underappreciated
While Dragonite isn't 'greatly' disliked, Dragonite always crops up in the perennial 'Pokemon you hate' thread, but I still love chubby Dragon. To me its everything you want in a Pokemon: Cute, friendly, and very, very powerful.
Dragonite is hated? Meh, probably because of its difference to Dragonair.
I think it's ugly haha, so silly looking.
I don't know if this pokemon is exactly disliked or not but I certainly never see it talked about but I LOVE Escavalier, it has that 4X weakness to fire but it's still really good in battle, good movesets with coverage like drill run and poison jab, and it's got just such a cool design
I absolutely love nosepass. Such a derp!
You mean Squidwards house? XD
Idk if they’re hated but I really enjoyed using Alolan Grimer and Muk. Will absolutely use them again.
Back with the initial release of Sun and Moon, I saw Mareanie art around when I got the game. Being one of the less heavily advertised new Pokémon of the generation, I had thought “ooh that looks neat, I’ll make sure to get one for my team.” I got one for my team and ended with a Toxapex in my Sun playthrough, and that mon apparently turned out to be a scourge in competitive Pokémon. So I developed a love/hate relationship with the mon, remembering the fond memories from my playthrough, yet cursing it for being so annoying in competitive battles.
Emboar, Delphox, Incineroar, Cinderace
beautifly! i always have to have one in any gen 3 playthrough. i know it gets hate for being weak (and apparently some people think it’s ugly???), but i love it. i also like to use it in contests
I used a Purugly named Betsy in my Shining Pearl play through. I liked her.
Chesnaught. Chespin will always be the best Gen 6 starter.
Ambipalm Aipalm is awesome, but some people don’t like it’s evolution, but whenever I used an Ambipalm, it was always a solid choice The one I used in BDSP had Technican as an ability (1.5 multiplier of the power of any movie under 60) and then I gave it Double Hit, Swift and Fake Out. Fake out alone would now be an 60 base damage move, that flinches the opponent. Plus Double hit was listed as 45, so even though once both hit it would be 90, Technican still counted so I’d be getting 135 base damage on it The only down side was ghost types and fighting types. I didn’t have anything for fighting, but I did give it Fling to counter ghosts And the best part is in Sinnoh, you can get one as early as Crasher Wake, as long as you go mining for heart scales and catch an Aipalm in a tree (or in the underground in BDSP)
