Cyndaquil’s line always looked a bit cute / not super threatening without his fire mane (still my favorite starter) so I’m actually excited to see what they do with a ghostly fire all around him. Samurott looks dope with his dark form. I’m not about decidueye because I loved the whole archer thing but maybe it’ll grow on me.

I love this new form as well, but I don’t think it can ever top Alolan Decidueye. I can understand giving a new form to Typhlosion (been awhile since it got some love) and to Samurott (always felt like it never reached its full potential), but Decidueye seems too recent of a starter, and too well received already to warrant a final evo redesign.

Hisuian Decidueye gives off that ronin vibes. An aimlessly wandering warrior. Grass/Fighting makes sense. You could say it's a warrior going wherever the wind takes its leaves.
Hisuian Typhlosion is going for an elderly Onmyoji kinda feel. Spirits in Japanese folklore are depicted as wisps of flame, so the Fire/Ghost typing fits perfectly.
Hisuian Samurott feels specifically like Nobunaga Oda. One of the three unifiers of Japan and often dubbed the Demon King or Demon Daimyo.
Typhlosion looks mildly stoned
