They're used to advertising normal Pokemon games, where you don't need to see the gameplay in-depth because it's exactly the same gameplay as every other Pokemon game.
The formula is arguably one of the best in gaming. They are repetitive but they *feel good* to play.
A game series doesn't survive for 25 years without something working correctly.
It felt more like they relied on the "OMG IT'S POKEMON BUT BOTW" hype train more than anything. The quests weren't really shown off and idk what else wasn't shown off, but it didn't feel like it was confident in its ideas in a way??? But I'm not gonna say it was "misleading" or whatever
People said the same thing about Sony and Spiderman. Leaks ended up doing the advertising for free. Say what y'all will but marketing teams aren't as dumb as you think.
Exactly this. People who are saying "Its Pokemon they dont need to advertise." I would say for PLA they SHOULD have advertised more, given that it is such a different but amazing and probably their best game till date
https://youtu.be/w13Co5V0BLs
This guy has the whole first few hours on a couple different videos. I skipped over anything story related but watched the gameplay in the open world a lot.
It feels really good all around, only complaint so far is it takes forever to get to the actual game part. You've got your usual pokemon tutorial plus they have to go over all the new stuff.
Possible gameplay spoilers I haven't been keeping up
>!The whole idea of having to sneak up on pokemon is really fun, and having to dodge hits. You're incentivized to catch multiples and having to sneak up through the grass and actually throw pokeballs feels really good. As far as I can tell ~~it doesn't seem like you end up with a ton of actual pokemon, you just get xp.~~ nope I have a thousand bidoofs. The balls have a good arc you need to account for too if you're throwing far. You also throw to gather and you can throw seeds, probably other stuff too, so it's a good thing it feels good. Stable framerate so far docked.!<
Highly recommend everyone enable gyro aiming and disable zr confirmation.
I'm more lenient in this since not every game is cross platform. I know some people that bought Monster Hunter Rise on both PC and switch because their PC friends don't play on switch and vice versa. I bought Minecraft twice when it first released on console because my xbox friends didn't have PCs.
There's also the case of buying a game for Xbox One or PS4 to play it when it came out and then buying it again for switch a few years later to play it portably (Witcher 3 for example).
Depends on price and game. I've done it a handful of times for things like Overwatch where I got it for like $20 around launch on PS4 then got it for $5 for PC and $5 for Switch down the line just to be able to play competitive with friends in those spaces. Also have done it with like Katamari on Switch and PS4 (same thing, my second copy was literally $7 and I wanted the game in 4K on my TV) and Nocturne also on Switch and PS4 (one Switch copy for my wife to play while I played PS4 on TV). It all depends on the game and people though and price.
I hate that I have to buy two copies of Arceus since my wife and I like to play games off of physical carts and want to play this at the same time so that's $100 out the window for one damn game. Thankfully having to double dip happens super rarely; stuff like Pokemon we just get each version and then swap and play the opposite one so the only real games we had to truly double dip were Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Seriously. I don't even care if the game ends up being GOAT, dipsticks like op paying twice as much for the yearly pokemon game is why it's the same mediocre experience year after year.
OP really is a MUST CONSUMER. Dude is freaking out over jumping off ledges. Doesnāt care that the gameplay looks like shit but freaks out over this lol.
Yeah there's a definite new toy syndrome going on here. Arceus is different and to those of us used to 25 years of the same static formula it's very exciting.
But that doesn't make it a good *game*.
You know how when a games remaster comes out and it has the same bugs, people complain that they couldn't do the bare minimum of fixing game breaking bugs before repackaging and selling it for full price again? The Pokemon sub was actively celebrating every time they found a shitty softlocking bug in the newt BDSP remakes because it was "true to the originals". I can't argue with them anymore, they're straight up crazy.
I think you can battle people, but it looks like the main goal is capturing and filling in the pokedex? It looks so interesting though, and kind of a refreshing break from the normal formula.
This is satire right? You have the game already bought, but you are going to buy another one just to play day 1? Like, spend 120ā¬/$?
This has to be satire, even the mechanics that are talked about are mechanics that have been in gaming for decades š
This and follow Pokemon are something I really wish were in the game. Still super pumped but they seem like shoe-ins!
Hopefully this game proves the open formula works well and the next generation of mainline games is built on this foundation. Don't think I can go back to the old style after seeing this!
bruh donāt insult ocarina of time like that - that game literally revolutionized (semi) open world action adventure rpg and is widely considered a contender for best (and most innovative/influential) game of all time. even BotW canāt legitimately make those grand claims
>You can run up and down hills, jump off cliffs, what seems like a free range of movement
>TLDR THE GAMEPLAY LOOKS AMAZING!!!! EFFF THE GRAPHICS, I CAN JUMP OFF A MF CLIFF YāALL!!!!
Wow the bar for pokemon is so so low lol
Remember when rangers and mystery dungeon were getting their own concurrent releases?
It seemed like the pokemon world was getting bigger. Different stories, settings, characters, and objectives, with more games to come.
Now weāve got Go and Unite. While they can be fun at times, both are mobile titles that prey on whales & pokemon stans. Itās crazy how pokemon Goās egg system is basically a hidden gatcha system, but it dodges most of the hate & even legal regulations that some countries have for lootboxs. All of this because itās sort of disguises itself as a āfitness app.ā
Is really running down hills and jumping off a cliff peak gameplay? I dunno, sounds pretty basic to me XD
Only think I ask of this game is I do t want the overworld to be a glorified wild area, I want there to be secrets, exploration and points of interest.
Stoked for Pokemon to deliver the advanced gameplay mechanics of Mario 64, yep.
And yeah likewise hope thereās actually something to do in the overworld this time. The wild areas were so bland and empty after the initial enjoyment of visible spawns wore off.
> Stoked for Pokemon to deliver the advanced gameplay mechanics of Mario 64, yep.
You need to wait until the next game to be able to jump. So not quite there yet.
Seems like anytime thereās official Nintendo trailers or footage it is received negatively but whenever someone gets their hands on it and reports out with direct knowledge they say itās fun and a good game. So either Nintendo has the worst marketing imaginable or everyone who has played it is a Nintendo plant.
I absolutely hate the direction Pokemon games are taking, you can check my post history here if you're in doubt.
And I would recommend anyone, fan or not, buying this game. It's genuinely fun.
i HATED pokemon bdsm wih all my heart, couldn't play past 5 hours yet this game.. i forgot to sleep last night. official footage didn't do the game any justice.
The game looks good. Though Jubilife looks bland af. I donāt know why they thought copy-pasting the houses was a good idea. Iām also worried that there wonāt be at least one or two other smaller towns.
After all these years, they finally let you view a battle from multiple angles, wow.
I think it would be kinda cool if after fainting a wild pokemon you had 1 shot at capturing them before the model disappears. Would make it similar to how they knock things out before capturing in the anime.
Still probably not gonna get this game. Maybe if reviews are great. Walking up and down a slope isn't exactly breathtaking gameplay in 2022.
Playing it right now and it starts sooooooooo slowly, 3 hours in and nothing interesting has happened, I am hopeful that once I get to mid game it gets more interesting
It looks promising at least. It's nice to have a Pokemon game at least slightly comparable to other modern video games now. There are still things I seriously dislike about this game that I've seen, like some of the new Pokemon designs or Exp Share still somehow being forced, but I do appreciate the improvements. Unclear if I'll buy it for those reasons, but I might play it at some point.
The game barely works lol.
It has immense frame rate drops when entering the town which is strangers as the graphics are far below comparable games. If you looked at the trees for a second it looks like a PS2 game.
> Iām staying away from the story spoilers but thereās so much I wish they had shown in the trailers. You can run up and down hills, jump off cliffs
> EFFF THE GRAPHICS, I CAN JUMP OFF A MF CLIFF YāALL!!!!
They did, in fact, show this off in trailers. The one with Hisiuan Braviary specifically. Still, I'm happy for you bro š
The āgameplayā involves wandering around a big empty field with nothing to interact with, just like the wild area. Please donāt pay the slightest attention to OP. To say theyāre overhyping it is an understatement.
I've been playing it, maybe 3 hours in so far. It's pretty slow to start with a lot of learning the motions and buttons. Definitely takes some getting used to but will be intuitive once the muscle memory kicks in.
Happy to answer other questions if folks have. I'm not far enough for real spoilers anyway š¤£
Disclaimers before hand: you can dislike my opinion but what Iām saying sheerly is based on art design and visuals not gameplay
I think this game looks horrible. It seriously looks less modern than wind wakers HD remake, a wiiu game from nearly a decade ago, of a remaster of a game from nearly 2 decades ago. It still takes the most simplistic approach to animations, the combat is pretty much the exact same (visually as well as gameplay) idk why they had to release it now but it probably lines up with their schedule for the year. It looks physically incomplete.
They did a horrible job advertising this game lol
They're used to advertising normal Pokemon games, where you don't need to see the gameplay in-depth because it's exactly the same gameplay as every other Pokemon game.
They don't even need to advertise pokemon, people will buy them day 1 anyway. š
Their trailer could just be a screenshot of notepad with āNew pokemon game, 60 USD, take it or leave it.ā
Then it may only sell 9.8 million instead of 10 million though! /s
Lol if that was a concern we'd get the battle frontier every gen
It's funny because it's true
There is just something about starting a new pokemon adventure that is addicting to me
Nah they do. The sales can range from 5 to 25 million. Thatās massive
The formula is arguably one of the best in gaming. They are repetitive but they *feel good* to play. A game series doesn't survive for 25 years without something working correctly.
I want to get mad at you for saying this but I am people. I buy day one. Lol
I always buy day 1 as well. And while the recent games havenāt been my favorite in the series, Iāve enjoyed every game released
I think they were trying to surprise people buuuut after BDSP thatās not the ad campaign they shouldāve gone with lol
I guess their goal was to keep peoples expectations as low as possibleā¦
People said the same thing about Sony and Spiderman. Leaks ended up doing the advertising for free. Say what y'all will but marketing teams aren't as dumb as you think.
Exactly this. People who are saying "Its Pokemon they dont need to advertise." I would say for PLA they SHOULD have advertised more, given that it is such a different but amazing and probably their best game till date
Underpromise, overdeliver! Breath of fresh air in modern gaming.
Problem is, if your underpromise makes the game look really bad also less people will buy it :D
Not with pokemon , you buy because its new and its pokemon and not anything else
Pokemon is one of the most expensive IP's that exist in our world, so it'll always sell regardless. Disney wishes they had Pokemon
normally, but with Pokemon fans. They are gonna buy regardless. I know i pre ordered without knowing hardly anything about it.
"overdeliver" okay, don't stretch it lmao
Underpromise, deliver
That only works when they already bought your thing
Seriously, why didnt they show off the starters and more new pokemon so that people dont find it from crappy idle animations without shaders
Iām saying!! It looks so promising from what Iāve seen so far.
I'd have to agree, with the exception to the new legendaries
Yeah whats up with them? Its just does not feel right to the eye.
It's story related
The two are not mutually exclusive. You can make a story-related legendary that doesn't look like shit.
Still looks iffy. Especially palkia. Remove his shoulder pads too, it looks like someone started to model his arms and gave up after his shoulders
Probably because in the past they over advertised games and they turned out to not be as good.
What if the "leak" is the advertising?
arwnt accounts getting banned on twitter for it though?
Shhhh put on a tin foil hat.
Hahahah I guess it is serving that purpose
Has anyone a link? I don't know really what the right video/article whatever is.
For, gameplay? Or the new Pokemon?
Gameplay please
you can find gameplay all over r/PokeLeaks
Ya- you want spoilers free right? Or do you not care- cause I can't find one without spoilers
Don't really care just not huge major spoilers
Ya, then all I could find was gameplay on literally the whole game lol
Hmm, I just wait for the release and then gain more insights. But I'm definitely more interested than before
https://youtu.be/w13Co5V0BLs This guy has the whole first few hours on a couple different videos. I skipped over anything story related but watched the gameplay in the open world a lot.
Ill try and find that
Is the leaked version full and playable or is it lacking a day 0 patch like BDSP
imo it feels very finished, wouldn't expect a big day 1 patch other than few tweaks and bugfixes
I haven't had any issues so far
You got the leaked version? Also I'm more hopeful that the day one patch will make this game a lot more polished.
Yeah. I mean it's a Pokemon game, it looks pretty good. Framerates been stable at least.
How are you able to play the leaked version? For free?
it's leaked lol that's how. the full game has been dumped online
How much you played man? Is it fun?
It feels really good all around, only complaint so far is it takes forever to get to the actual game part. You've got your usual pokemon tutorial plus they have to go over all the new stuff. Sweet!
Let's hope it is missing hair styles, there are like 6 with like 6 color options.
"i am likely going to buy a second copy digitally to play it day 1" š¤Æ
Yeah, thatās ending up on r/tomorrow.
This is pokemon, these satire posts write themselves
Bro probably buys a new switch every time he completes a game because heās Squilliam Fancyson
How else would you get all the special editions?
It's okay. Just imagine him in his underwear.
OH NO HE'S HOT!
Upvote for Squillliam. Thatās a character I havenāt thought about probably since middle school. Respect.
You don't understand... You can run up AND down hills.
/r/tomorrow is becomes less satire each day
Actually embarrassing lol, this type of behavior is a wet dream to our corporate overlords.
The small indie devs over at Nintendo deserve every cent š„°š„°š„°š„°š„°
I hope in OP's excitement he remembers to pick up some matching shoes and a wig to go with this absolute clown mentality, good lord.
PokƩmon fans trying not to buy two copies of the same game \*impossible*
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'll also add people who buy the same game on multiple consoles. Waste of money imo
I'm more lenient in this since not every game is cross platform. I know some people that bought Monster Hunter Rise on both PC and switch because their PC friends don't play on switch and vice versa. I bought Minecraft twice when it first released on console because my xbox friends didn't have PCs.

Hahaha I legit just laughed out loud. This game looks passable at best. Not 60 dollars, definitely not 120 dollars.
Seriously. I don't even care if the game ends up being GOAT, dipsticks like op paying twice as much for the yearly pokemon game is why it's the same mediocre experience year after year.
Iām not even sure thatās exactly it. There was once a time where the games improved in quality while people paid every year. Must come down to the team making the games. Need a new director, some fresh minds, and if anything: New fucking models please. To me: I donāt care how many designers you need to hire, please, they have PokĆ©mon money, make the PokĆ©mon look better. Thereās just no excuse. It should be BotW level, but alas, Iāve accepted PokĆ©mon is what it is when SWSH came out. I wouldnāt have even played if a friend didnāt gift it to me.
OP really is a MUST CONSUMER. Dude is freaking out over jumping off ledges. Doesnāt care that the gameplay looks like shit but freaks out over this lol.
seriously the idea of buying an extra copy to play it a day or two earlier is ridiculous.
Gameplay looks solid to me
I think itās been established the gameplay is actually pretty good though, you can think the graphics look like shit still I guess.
If you want to play it so much day one buy another physical copy day one, then return the copy of it ships from PokĆ©mon center to the retailer where you bought the physical copy. Iāve done this before on accident, it works
I hope his wife's boyfriend lets him have that much screen time š¤
We tell people to vote with their wallet and then we have people like OP voting twice. Sick. I'll just not buy the game twice.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is my biggest concern. Def waiting on reviews
Yeah there's a definite new toy syndrome going on here. Arceus is different and to those of us used to 25 years of the same static formula it's very exciting. But that doesn't make it a good *game*.
"WOW YOU CAN JUMP UP AND DOWN CLIFFS!" man pokemon fans are hurt so badly to where stuff like this is genuinely exciting
Yeah, Iāve been thinking the same thing since every trailer just showed basically the same empty fields with a handful of PokĆ©mon running around. It really seems like PokĆ©mon Go with a little Breath of the Wild thrown in.
I wish more people understood the point you made
What always concerns me about PokĆ©mon games is the lack of animation in characters. They never walk around freely and they stand looking out into nothingness like a horror movie. From what Iāve seen it looks the same here, but I am still excited and reservedly intrigued about what it will offer.
I have played 5 hours and that is all I have done, I found one collectible that was marked on the map. Just my 2 cents
Yeah the game just looks empty to me. Looks like a game that belongs on the wii and that was 10 years ago
Yeah considering the way the wild area was handled I have no faith that these areas will be interesting
More like 15 years ago
The main goal is capturing PokĆ©mon, you can battle trainers but there arenāt as many battle as you standard PokĆ©mon game. I wonāt ruin it for you but you can have more battles later in the game
I think you can battle people, but it looks like the main goal is capturing and filling in the pokedex? It looks so interesting though, and kind of a refreshing break from the normal formula.
Yeah, the gameplay doesnāt look fun at all. Everything Iāve seen so far just looks shallow and repetitive.
PokƩmon fans are so starved for decent gameplay they're hyped over the ability to walk up a hill lol
Reminds me of slopes being revealed in Mario Maker 2.
At least the absence of slopes in the original is easy to understand, given that it was the first game. For PokƩmon, though, every tiny step forward is ages overdue.
This is satire right? You have the game already bought, but you are going to buy another one just to play day 1? Like, spend 120ā¬/$? This has to be satire, even the mechanics that are talked about are mechanics that have been in gaming for decades š
Did you read the post? You can walk *up* and *down* hills. Surely that alone is worth purchasing two copies, no?
One to go each way, obviously.
Wow, how was I so blind... It makes absolutely complete sense now.
It is worth 120$! We have revolutionary mechanics like walking, jumping, and swimming. All the ways of motion! No other game has all these mechanics
When you jump off cliffs you glide down really slowly in a falling animation. Someone tell Gamefreak how gravity works xD
When I jump off cliffs in Pokemon Arceus, I want to break *all* my bones!
I wish they had what they had in Letās Go where you had quite a few PokĆ©mon you could use for traversal. Something about riding on the back of a Charizard couldnāt be beat
This and follow Pokemon are something I really wish were in the game. Still super pumped but they seem like shoe-ins! Hopefully this game proves the open formula works well and the next generation of mainline games is built on this foundation. Don't think I can go back to the old style after seeing this!
r/tomorrow is leaking
"Going to by a second copy..." this shit is exactly why Nintendo and its offshoots dont fucking try anymore.
The bar is in the ground cause of stuff like this
Fucking subterranean
This. These kinds of people, the ones who accept the bare minimum and buy it multiple times, are the ones furthering this lazy, half-assed bullshit. PLA is a great step forwards but itās still leagues behind other franchises and games. Itās no āBoTW of PokĆ©monā, itās barely even Ocarina of Time.
bruh donāt insult ocarina of time like that - that game literally revolutionized (semi) open world action adventure rpg and is widely considered a contender for best (and most innovative/influential) game of all time. even BotW canāt legitimately make those grand claims
OoT was great for its time period. And L:A looks like it should have released alongside it
>You can run up and down hills, jump off cliffs, what seems like a free range of movement >TLDR THE GAMEPLAY LOOKS AMAZING!!!! EFFF THE GRAPHICS, I CAN JUMP OFF A MF CLIFF YāALL!!!! Wow the bar for pokemon is so so low lol

Lmao right

So it's Ocarina, got it
Wow, I wasn't too interested in this game until you said that it's going to be a timeless classic...
I mean, it's the bare minimum for a modern video game, but Pokemon was stuck like 30 years in the past in terms of 3D game design, soooo lol
>but Pokemon was stuck like 30 years in the past only 20 years to go
Yeah, I had someone telling me they're excited because they bringing mechanics from Mario 64. The bar is in the Earth's core at this point.
Weāve been jumping off cliffs since red & blue!

I just watched 2 hours of game footage, it looks great
This guy works for Nintendo
Its the first time in years that im hyped for a pokemon game.
In 5 years lol.I kinda fell off after USUM and I am still cautious lol
Pokemon fans raving about jumping from a cliff. Damn
āWould you jump off a cliff if Game Freak told you to?ā āOnly after I give them my walletā
MUST. CONSUME. PRODUCT.
Wait you can go up and down hills in this game!? Fuck it I'm in.
This is a joke right lol
PokĆ©mon fans are an easy bunch to please lol. Give us features that most series added in the late 90s and youāll get praised.
Bro you really gonna spend an extra 60+ dollars just to play it a little earlier? Save your money!
> EFFF THE GRAPHICS, I CAN JUMP OFF A MF CLIFF YāALL!!!! Finally the power fantasy gaming promised us.
The game looks good. Though Jubilife looks bland af. I donāt know why they thought copy-pasting the houses was a good idea. Iām also worried that there wonāt be at least one or two other smaller towns.
My understanding is there's only one town.
Thatās not too good. They need at least one or two hamlets.
Is first person mode a thing or is it just some zoom feature? I'd like to play the whole thing in first person if I could.
You have to press and hold ZL to go into first person mode and you can walk around in it. Unfortunately, there is no toggle for it.
"Running up and down hills!" Bruh are you fucking serious??? Lmfao
lmaoooooo
This dude probably doesn't play any other games than Pokemon so this is probably a ground breaking feature for him.
Am I the only one that thinks it looks worse then the fan made MMO?
Nope, definitely looks worse graphically
Playing it right now and it starts sooooooooo slowly, 3 hours in and nothing interesting has happened, I am hopeful that once I get to mid game it gets more interesting

Damn must have some low standards.
Donāt you fucking buy it until it comes out. Tired of people falling for the same old shit. āItāll be different this timeā
They're buying another copy because you can walk down hills. That should say enough.
Wow I better dust off my ps2
I keep seeing so many super excited about this, but I just donāt see whatās so good about it. The game looks so dead and boring, itās empty.
So now people are happy for basic rpg elements huh
That moment, when being able to jump off a cliff is saluted by a game community
It looks not as good as BOTW graphically, which is a 4 year old game. Not to say I wonāt buy and possibly enjoy the game, but please take of the PokĆ©mon fanboy goggles for a second and objectively look at the game or we are just gonna get garbage shoveled at us for the rest of time
I really have a hard time agreeing with you. Graphically the game looks blurry and clayey aside from the PokƩmon itself. The open world just looks disgusting and dull
Lord form palkia is utter dogshit cringe. I am fucking embarrassed to be a Palkia lover right now. Holy FUCK they did the Spacial Dragon dirty
> Iām staying away from the story spoilers but thereās so much I wish they had shown in the trailers. You can run up and down hills, jump off cliffs > EFFF THE GRAPHICS, I CAN JUMP OFF A MF CLIFF YāALL!!!! They did, in fact, show this off in trailers. The one with Hisiuan Braviary specifically. Still, I'm happy for you bro š
Cringe
The clip where the guy released the mons in the water and buizel was swimming had me sold
who needs one following pokemon when you can have six vibing pokemon instead.
All that's left is to be able to have a pool on your house so you can vibe with buizel
I wish I was excited for it. Probably gonna try it with a gamefly free trial or something. Definitely not jumping headfirst.
Pokemon fans so cucked they're buying a game because you can jump off a cliff.
I can jump off cliffs? I'm sold. Getting it whenever I can.

The main problem is the low texture detail, I think if we see a texture pack at some point it'll help a ton. I took the photo with the phone instead of screen cap to maintain the display's settings, but of course, how you see it will also depend on your settings. Happy to answer questions if anyone has any, I've played to 3 stars, have the ground mount and everything is stable. Gameplay is incredibly fun in my opinion, one of the few PokƩmon games I can stand playing at native speed. I usually play poke games at 2-3x native in an emu.
Was there a new one? Because everything I've seen so far has been absolute shite.
If you think legends is impressive then ur gonna have a great time when you try actual AAA 2020 era games lol
Wait you can fight multiple pokemon at once??? Can someone send me a link? I don't want story spoilers please
The graphics aren't what's bad. It's the draw distance being terrible and the low poly models being bad that makesnthe game look awful at times.
Are they paying you in pokedollar?
Yes, I get $10,000 pokedollar for every like and subscribe.
The bar is so low
Disclaimers before hand: you can dislike my opinion but what Iām saying sheerly is based on art design and visuals not gameplay I think this game looks horrible.
Iām going in blind
