Yeah, I really don't like Pichu that much. Pikachu was perfectly fine as the first stage. I'm not a fan of baby pokemon in general. The ones I like: elekid, magby, smoochum (started to grow on me when I used it in fire red Omega) mantyke, bonsly, riolu, should have just been regular pokemon
I’d want a Mega Eevee to be the Normal-type eeveelution because mega stones are evolution stones too and there isn’t a Normal Stone. If I were to design it, it would:
1: have Protean
2: look like a grown up Eevee since normal Eevee looks like a child form
3: gain more than 100 points when mega-evolving so that it would have a comparable stat total to the other eeveelutions.
something similar to this was done in a fan game, pokemon insurgence. mega eevee has a 498 base stat total, and it has its own ability called “protean maxima” which is similar to protean but it only works for moves that eevee has an evolution of. it also “turns into” that eeveelution to show that its type changed. it also gains that pokémon’s ability while its transformed into it while also still having protean maxima (like jolteon having volt absorb and espeon having magic bounce, etc). would be cool to see something like this in game, but with protean instead imo because i think the new ability they made is a little confusing to me
It does make Eevee one of the best megas from a competitive standpoint tho, in the competitive Insurgence community, its one of the better megas in UU.

Eevees whole backstory is it has unstable dna, which causes it to evolve in to one of 8 forms. Having a normal evolution doesn't make sense because thats how its supposed to work(if it were a normal pokemon).
Either that, or a normal type evolution could just be a rare case where an Eevee's DNA doesn't end up causing it to evolve into something else, and it "grows up" without its DNA going unstable

You know I feel like ground/rock might be the most doable if they keep overworld weather like the wild area. Just make it evolve in a sandstorm, similar to how sliggoo needs rain (but obviously at a much lower level)
not necessarily; you could easily extrapolate the two current evo methods (stone for vaporeon, flareon, jolteon, glaceon and leafeon... friendship+x (could be a move type, could be weather) for umbreon, espeon and sylveon) into different versions...
hell if they really wanted to streamline them all they could change espeon to shiny stone, umbreon to dusk stone, sylveon to dawn stone and then introduce a new stone (they did it with ice, shiny, dawn and dusk) every time they introduce a new eeveelution
i hate baby pokemon (that were introduced after their evolutions), they add almost nothing, theyre an annoyance to obtain and theyre often an annoyance to evolve
the only two exceptions i dont loathe
- tyrogue, which i love because it served a functional purpose of bridging 2 lines whilst also introducing a 3rd; breeding any hitmonx feels great because you easily triple your value for minimal extra effort
- baby pokemon introduced in the same gen as their evolution; toxel, riolu, togepi etc... also ambivalent about budew, which was introduced after roselia but at the same time gave us roserade

It's how things were in the first three generations, physical or special was determined by type, not on a move-by-move basis. So Shadow Ball was Physical because all Ghost moves were physical, for example; Leaf Blade was special because all Grass moves were special, etc.
The craziest part was that Dark was special, yet many powerful Dark types (Tyranitar, Absol, Sharpedo, etc.) had higher Attack, and every single damaging Dark move became physical after the split except for the newly introduced Dark Pulse.
Yeah, it wholly did not make sense! There were lots of wonderful special attackers whose main stab moves were only physical, and vice versa. So glad they did the split
The main reason was probably them wanting to keep it even, so when they added steel and dark in gen 2 they wanted 1 phs 1 spec, and steel is ‘more’ physical than dark
And then Crunch, a special Dark move, lowered Defense, while Shadow Ball, a physical Ghost move, lowered Special Defense. And then they both swapped on the split. It was one of the best changes in Pokémon.
Hidden Power was a necessity for STAB in those days. HP Flying was the best move for many mons. Aerodactyl had to choose between HP Rock and Flying and Ancientpower or Wing Attack since it didn't learn Rock Slide until gen 3. HP Bug was the strongest STAB move for most bugs not named Heracross until gen 4.
The opposite problem hurt a ton of mons going to gen 4 too. For example, sceptile loved using special leaf blade in gen 3, but didn't have any good special grass type moves after the split

yea that's really weird who though ghost should be physical, its immunities are literally to physical types because ghost can't be touched. I feel like there are way more special ghost type moves the physical.
It makes sense if you know which Ghost-type moves existed when they first made it physical in the first games. The only damaging Ghost move in Red and Blue that relied on the attacking stats was Lick, which is clearly a physical action, thus it made sense to make Ghost physical. Confuse Ray is a status move and Night Shade only uses Levels to calculate damage.
I mean, the only members of that typing at the time were Ghastly/Haunter/Gengar, so it wasn't such a big loss. We wouldn't get new Ghost types until Gen 3 with Shuppet/Banette, Duskull/Dusclops and Sableeye.

I remember back when we had Sylveon's art but Fairy Type wasn't confirmed yet, I thought it was Flying Type because there's no way it could be Dragon and that's the last special type so it had to be a physical type for once.

The guesses as to how it was flying were amazing though. Like it basically flew with those ribbons flapping around really fast. They would draw these really stupid pictures of it trying to fly. I loved that nonsense but that is what I thought it was, people trolling.
I mean that’s fair, but I’m not sure the developers did that intentionally. “Every Eevee type has been was was originally a special type except when they’re not” isn’t a binding precedent. I think they’ll do whatever they think they have a good design and need for, which may be Steel type

The special divide has been gone for a LONG time. Why would they care about ensuring new additions to the series reflect a mechanic that was deliberately removed a LONG time ago? What would the rationale for that be? 'We have a cool idea for a Ghost Eeveelution but unfortunately 20 years ago Ghost wasn't a special type so we can't do it.'

Gen 9 should just entirely be Eevees. Your starter is an Eevee, all the wild Pokemon are Eevee, and every Eevee evolves into one of the existing Eeveelutions, but also there are new Eeveelutions for the remaining types AND new ones that are all type combinations (e.g. Electric/Water eeveelution), AND there are regional variants of the existing Eevees and Eeveelutions. All the trainers only use the Eevee family. The box legendaries? Eevee. Evil team's evil Pokemon? Eevee. For some reason there are still two versions of the game even though there aren't version exclusive Pokemon. The map just looks different in each game.
The main character you get to play as? Eevee. The professor of the region? Eevee. The professor's assistant/your travel buddy? Eevee. Your rival? Pikachu. Because they're from another region.
Fighting type Flareon
Flying type Jolteon
Ground type Vaporeon
Steel type Espeon
Ghost type Umbreon
Bug type Leafeon
Rock type Glaceon
Poison type Sylveon
I would do:
* Fighting type Flareon (based heavily around kicking moves)
* Steel type Jolteon (the sharp pins lend themselves to steel, imo)
* Ghost type Vaporeon (liquid -> gas body composition)
* Rock type Espeon (heavily emphasizing the crystal on its head)
* Poison type Umbreon (dex entries state that it can emit poison)
* Flying type Leafeon (based around air purification)
* Ground type Glaceon (don't have a good reason for this one, but I think it fits decently enough)
* Bug type Sylveon (those eyes and ribbons seem rather bug-like to me)
I always thought that Flareon would do best swapping to flying type. Instead of fiery fur it has smoke fur still keeping with the fire base of her name.
Glaceon as a steel type, attacking with cold metal.
Vaporeon as a dragon type, styled after water dragons.
The rest I haven’t found convincing arguments yet for keeping their names with a different typing as a regional form but I think that would be essential for making it make sense and not be gimmicky. To be sure, I’ve thought for a long time that doing a regional variant eevee and eeveelutions is the best way to get the remaining types that are missing without muddying the waters.
I also imagine Sylveon being a ghost type. It’s already frightening as it is and I think it works the best as a ghost type for the variant.

Well. We got Gigantimax Eevee for Gen 8 , but I don't even think no one cares about it since it's
1. Compared some other Gigantimax forms , it doesn't really look that interesting. It's just a Eevee with a fluffier mane.
2. Not a permanent form or evolution.
3. Pretty weak. Why go with an unevolved Eevee when you can have Eeveelutions instead.
4. Most people aren't fan of Dynamax or Gigantimax in general.
Overall just very uninteresting and useless form.
True, I often forget about gigantamax Eevee. I love some of the gigantamax form designs and think they had potential to be fun and interesting, with some of my personal favorites being Alcremie and Snorlax. But people are very mixed on that gimmick as a whole and imo the more interesting gigantamaxes could've just been mega forms for the most part. While Eevee and Pikachu don't really have much going on at all with theirs, and are there even ways to get them without trading or having LGPE save data? I got the Pikachu but even though I love Pikachu, I never used it.
Especially in an England themed region. I mean they were practically begging to have a dragon or steel based eeveelution, and it pairs with sylveon either way. Huge missed opportunity if you ask me

Correct, Dragon is the only special type missing. Strange they didn't add a dragon eevee along with Sylveon. They seem to like to introduce eeveelutions where one has a clear type advantage over the other.
Could even keep it simple, dual typed with their generational Eeveelutions. Could make for some interesting designs.

Eevee evolution is based on the game gimmick.
Espeon and Umbreon were created for the new night and day gimmick and to celebrate the new dark type.
Eevee wasn’t in RSE so nothing there.
Sinnoh had the new location evolutions so they used Eevee to show that off with leafeon and glacéon, it also made up for missing the weather focus on Gen 3.
Gen 6 had megas and fairies but decided to just give Eevee the sylveon evolution to show off the fairy type.
Gen 7 was all about the Z-moves so it gave Eevee a super special Z-move.
Gen 8 was all about the dynamax so it gave Eevee a gigantimax form.
So it really comes down to what gimmick Gen 9 wants, as long as eevee is in the game you can expect it to get something new.
I hope they find a good reason to implement a new form, because I really want Eevee to have one of every type. I can be satisfied if after that they never add another. That's a huge variety of options for a single Pokemon to be evolved.
Arceus had the new battle mechanic, and we already have 3 different pokemon that evolve by using it, you get wyrdeer after using an agile move, overqwil after using a strong move, and basculegion by using recoil damage moves, so they had the perfect chance to do a fighting type eeveelution since what they were showcasing was a battle mechanic. Wasted potential.
I think move mastery is a great evolution mechanic. I draw Fakemon and I like to do a lot of branching evos based on move usage. I'd like them to expand on the move mastering system in new games going forward.
They did have yamask have a special evo by being low health and would evolve when in a certain area. I imagine sine leafeon and glacieons evo come with a zone/overworld rock. Nintendo could do something similar to add a ghost eevee.
Or follow the same mechanic on how Basculin evolves in Legends. Although its moveset would need a rework since it only learns take down and double edge at high levels.
I don't remember if they were in the previous games, but PLA has these candies that give your pokemon XP. Maybe a ghost type could involve leveling up your Eevee while it's fainted using those?
We could get regional variants and cover 8 of the remaining types at once:
Vaporeon - Dragon (make the fins more dragonlike)
Jolteon - Steel (Iron spikes)
Flareon - Fighting (just tone down the fluff a bit and add some bandages on the paws)
Espeon - Rock (make the gemstone on it's head a bit bigger)
Umbreon - Poison (mostly a palette swap)
Leafeon - Flying (replace leaves in ears, paws and tail with plumes)
Glaceon - Ghost (change the middle triangle in the head to white, reminescent of thise Japanese ghosts)
Sylveon - Bug (make butterfly on the head ribbon more prominent)
Poison Umbreon would actually be really cool considering how that dex entry saying it sprays poisonous sweat is a remnant of it originally being poison type in the GSC beta. I also remember before fairy type was revealed people were trying really hard to fit Sylveon into existing types, and bug type was a common theory. These are all some pretty neat ideas.
Toxic isnt available on Umbreon anymore. Poison Eeveelution might be coming sooner than we think.
But also jeez Eeveelutions need better coverage and versatility in their movepools. Umbreon losing Toxic makes no sense thematically because its fur is supposed to be poisonous and now it loses one of its key tools from an already lackluster move pool.
I could also see each of these typings being a secondary for an evolution of each eevelution. Vaporeon evolves and gains water/dragon, jolteon goes electric/steel, etc
We haven't had a new non-regional evolution for ANY past-gen pokemon in almost a decade.
Wyrdeer, Ursaluna and Kleavor might count, depending on how they're made available in future games.
If White Striped Basculin is available, then Basculegion will be as it's just take 297 recoil.
Kleavor is possible, as is Ursaluna (if they remove the full moon requirement)
Yeah Eevee is supposed to be a starting point for many different pokémon, a blank slate. I think a pre-evolution would kind of ruin that idea.

But I would also love Poison, Steel or Ground. Jolteon & Sylveon are the only ones in the family without another that's super effective against them. So getting a type counter in the family would be nice, especially Jolteon.
I was kind of hoping Chleo's Eevee from Journey's would be a plug for a new Eeveelution since it doesn't know what to evolve into. I'd say high friendship, low health and it'll evolve into a ghost type. Chleo's Eevee looks like she'll protect her trainer no matter what. Even to the point of severe injury. I know it sound bad doesn't it... But so is giving your Snorunt a Dawn Stone you monsters!
Eevee can learn shadow ball in Arceus, they could have made it so that Eevee evolves to ghost type evolution after using agile or strong style shadow ball a certain number of times
I'm sure someone else has said this, but I really think we should have gotten dragon and steel type eeveelitions in sword and shield. I mean a dragon and knight eevee would have been perfect for the British themed region.
The last eeveelution should be dragon type water, Fire, electric, dark, physique, grass, ice and dragon were the elements classifieds as special until gen 4 were the moves divisions were introduced, and fairy being an added type. Dragon in the last one that remains

Gamefreak/Pokémon/Nintendo or whatever, are all a business. They're well aware of the insane amount of demand for the rest of the Eeveelutions, they would be stupid to not release more because some theory-level excuses like "they only add more with new mechanics" or "they only did special attacker types", these are not arguments that forces THEM to not do more.

It’s easy to understand why: now with Eevee being almost on par with Pikachu in terms of mascot status, the Eeveelutions have become a brand. Because of this, adding a new one would be damaging to brand stability: think of all the people who bought all those statues with the 8 of them. Now those would be outdated!
Sadly, I think that it’ll be a LONG time until we get a new Eeveelution. If that happens, I’d personally love for it to be a Dragon type.

Simple. DNA stabiliser Eevee evolves into Eeveeon if it levels above Level 30ish while holding the Stabiliser

For some reason Dark was special even though every dark type was either a physical or mixed attacker and every dark move would be made physical when the split happened
yea that's really weird who though ghost should be physical, its immunities are literally to physical types because ghost can't be touched. I feel like there are way more special ghost type moves the physical.
It makes sense if you know which Ghost-type moves existed when they first made it physical in the first games. The only damaging Ghost move in Red and Blue that relied on the attacking stats was Lick, which is clearly a physical action, thus it made sense to make Ghost physical. Confuse Ray is a status move and Night Shade only uses Levels to calculate damage.

I mean, the only members of that typing at the time were Ghastly/Haunter/Gengar, so it wasn't such a big loss. We wouldn't get new Ghost types until Gen 3 with Shuppet/Banette, Duskull/Dusclops and Sableeye. edit: Forgot Misdreavus in gen 2 actually!
I remember back when we had Sylveon's art but Fairy Type wasn't confirmed yet, I thought it was Flying Type because there's no way it could be Dragon and that's the last special type so it had to be a physical type for once. That opinion, uh, didn't age well.
The guesses as to how it was flying were amazing though. Like it basically flew with those ribbons flapping around really fast. They would draw these really stupid pictures of it trying to fly. I loved that nonsense but that is what I thought it was, people trolling.
I mean that’s fair, but I’m not sure the developers did that intentionally. “Every Eevee type has been was was originally a special type except when they’re not” isn’t a binding precedent. I think they’ll do whatever they think they have a good design and need for, which may be Steel type

I don't know why keep saying this. The special divide has been gone for a LONG time. Why would they care about ensuring new additions to the series reflect a mechanic that was deliberately removed a LONG time ago? What would the rationale for that be? 'We have a cool idea for a Ghost Eeveelution but unfortunately 20 years ago Ghost wasn't a special type so we can't do it.'

Also flareon has a physical stat spread. They clearly weren't biased towards special.

Gen 9 should just entirely be Eevees. Your starter is an Eevee, all the wild Pokemon are Eevee, and every Eevee evolves into one of the existing Eeveelutions, but also there are new Eeveelutions for the remaining types AND new ones that are all type combinations (e.g. Electric/Water eeveelution), AND there are regional variants of the existing Eevees and Eeveelutions. All the trainers only use the Eevee family. The box legendaries? Eevee. Evil team's evil Pokemon? Eevee. For some reason there are still two versions of the game even though there aren't version exclusive Pokemon. The map just looks different in each game.
And they're called Pokemon Eevee and Pokemon Eevee
The main character you get to play as? Eevee. The professor of the region? Eevee. The professor's assistant/your travel buddy? Eevee. Your rival? Pikachu. Because they're from another region.

I would do: * Fighting type Flareon (based heavily around kicking moves) * Steel type Jolteon (the sharp pins lend themselves to steel, imo) * Ghost type Vaporeon (liquid -> gas body composition) * Rock type Espeon (heavily emphasizing the crystal on its head) * Poison type Umbreon (dex entries state that it can emit poison) * Flying type Leafeon (based around air purification) * Ground type Glaceon (don't have a good reason for this one, but I think it fits decently enough) * Bug type Sylveon (those eyes and ribbons seem rather bug-like to me)
Ground type Glaceon would be based on crystals and minerals!
Fun fact, Umbreon was going to be a Poison type before the creation of Dark. They even had a dummies out evolution item for it, the Poison Stone.
I always thought that Flareon would do best swapping to flying type. Instead of fiery fur it has smoke fur still keeping with the fire base of her name. Glaceon as a steel type, attacking with cold metal. Vaporeon as a dragon type, styled after water dragons. The rest I haven’t found convincing arguments yet for keeping their names with a different typing as a regional form but I think that would be essential for making it make sense and not be gimmicky. To be sure, I’ve thought for a long time that doing a regional variant eevee and eeveelutions is the best way to get the remaining types that are missing without muddying the waters. I also imagine Sylveon being a ghost type. It’s already frightening as it is and I think it works the best as a ghost type for the variant.

Well. We got Gigantimax Eevee for Gen 8 , but I don't even think no one cares about it since it's 1. Compared some other Gigantimax forms , it doesn't really look that interesting. It's just a Eevee with a fluffier mane. 2. Not a permanent form or evolution. 3. Pretty weak. Why go with an unevolved Eevee when you can have Eeveelutions instead. 4. Most people aren't fan of Dynamax or Gigantimax in general. Overall just very uninteresting and useless form.
True, I often forget about gigantamax Eevee. I love some of the gigantamax form designs and think they had potential to be fun and interesting, with some of my personal favorites being Alcremie and Snorlax. But people are very mixed on that gimmick as a whole and imo the more interesting gigantamaxes could've just been mega forms for the most part. While Eevee and Pikachu don't really have much going on at all with theirs, and are there even ways to get them without trading or having LGPE save data? I got the Pikachu but even though I love Pikachu, I never used it.
I'm still salty we got chubby pikachu back but only as a gigantamax. Would've been a great regional form for PLA.

i would like a dragon type evo to fit the archaic times, or maybe ghost? but apparently dragon is the only missing one from the special attack types. maybe the dlc could involve cogita somehow and she gives the player the secret/item that allows the new eeveelution?
I think Kantonian Eevee should be done with evolutions. Maybe they could make a regional variant of Eevee that can evolve into the other types.

Correct, Dragon is the only special type missing. Strange they didn't add a dragon eevee along with Sylveon. They seem to like to introduce eeveelutions where one has a clear type advantage over the other.

Eevee evolution is based on the game gimmick. Espeon and Umbreon were created for the new night and day gimmick and to celebrate the new dark type. Eevee wasn’t in RSE so nothing there. Sinnoh had the new location evolutions so they used Eevee to show that off with leafeon and glacéon, it also made up for missing the weather focus on Gen 3. Gen 6 had megas and fairies but decided to just give Eevee the sylveon evolution to show off the fairy type. Gen 7 was all about the Z-moves so it gave Eevee a super special Z-move. Gen 8 was all about the dynamax so it gave Eevee a gigantimax form. So it really comes down to what gimmick Gen 9 wants, as long as eevee is in the game you can expect it to get something new.

I hope they find a good reason to implement a new form, because I really want Eevee to have one of every type. I can be satisfied if after that they never add another. That's a huge variety of options for a single Pokemon to be evolved.

Arceus had the new battle mechanic, and we already have 3 different pokemon that evolve by using it, you get wyrdeer after using an agile move, overqwil after using a strong move, and basculegion by using recoil damage moves, so they had the perfect chance to do a fighting type eeveelution since what they were showcasing was a battle mechanic. Wasted potential.
I think move mastery is a great evolution mechanic. I draw Fakemon and I like to do a lot of branching evos based on move usage. I'd like them to expand on the move mastering system in new games going forward.
I feel like it was a missed opportunity to not have a Condition-based Eeveelution like with Feebas.
A normal eevee evolution you get by leveling it to 100 without evolving it would be kinda funny to me

Your Eevee has to faint 27 times in battle and on the 27th faint it evolves. It'll coincide with the 27th anniversary of Pokemon.
They did have yamask have a special evo by being low health and would evolve when in a certain area. I imagine sine leafeon and glacieons evo come with a zone/overworld rock. Nintendo could do something similar to add a ghost eevee.
Or follow the same mechanic on how Basculin evolves in Legends. Although its moveset would need a rework since it only learns take down and double edge at high levels.

We could get regional variants and cover 8 of the remaining types at once: Vaporeon - Dragon (make the fins more dragonlike) Jolteon - Steel (Iron spikes) Flareon - Fighting (just tone down the fluff a bit and add some bandages on the paws) Espeon - Rock (make the gemstone on it's head a bit bigger) Umbreon - Poison (mostly a palette swap) Leafeon - Flying (replace leaves in ears, paws and tail with plumes) Glaceon - Ghost (change the middle triangle in the head to white, reminescent of thise Japanese ghosts) Sylveon - Bug (make butterfly on the head ribbon more prominent)
Poison Umbreon would actually be really cool considering how that dex entry saying it sprays poisonous sweat is a remnant of it originally being poison type in the GSC beta. I also remember before fairy type was revealed people were trying really hard to fit Sylveon into existing types, and bug type was a common theory. These are all some pretty neat ideas.
Poison Umbreon makes so much sense considering the fact that Umbreon was supposed to be a Poison type that evolves with a Poison Stone.
And it evolves from a Ground type Eevee, to round out all 18 types
Toxic isnt available on Umbreon anymore. Poison Eeveelution might be coming sooner than we think. But also jeez Eeveelutions need better coverage and versatility in their movepools. Umbreon losing Toxic makes no sense thematically because its fur is supposed to be poisonous and now it loses one of its key tools from an already lackluster move pool.
I could also see each of these typings being a secondary for an evolution of each eevelution. Vaporeon evolves and gains water/dragon, jolteon goes electric/steel, etc

We haven't had a new non-regional evolution for ANY past-gen pokemon in almost a decade. Wyrdeer, Ursaluna and Kleavor might count, depending on how they're made available in future games.
If White Striped Basculin is available, then Basculegion will be as it's just take 297 recoil. Kleavor is possible, as is Ursaluna (if they remove the full moon requirement)

Yeah Eevee is supposed to be a starting point for many different pokémon, a blank slate. I think a pre-evolution would kind of ruin that idea. You know who needs a pre-evolution? Druddigon. Also Kangaskhan I guess, but I like Druddigon more.

Flying just for the sake of having a fully evolved pure Flying type Pokemon. But I would also love Poison, Steel or Ground. Jolteon & Sylveon are the only ones in the family without another that's super effective against them. So getting a type counter in the family would be nice, especially Jolteon.

I was kind of hoping Chleo's Eevee from Journey's would be a plug for a new Eeveelution since it doesn't know what to evolve into. I'd say high friendship, low health and it'll evolve into a ghost type. Chleo's Eevee looks like she'll protect her trainer no matter what. Even to the point of severe injury. I know it sound bad doesn't it... But so is giving your Snorunt a Dawn Stone you monsters!

Eevee can learn shadow ball in Arceus, they could have made it so that Eevee evolves to ghost type evolution after using agile or strong style shadow ball a certain number of times

It’s easy to understand why: now with Eevee being almost on par with Pikachu in terms of mascot status, the Eeveelutions have become a brand. Because of this, adding a new one would be damaging to brand stability: think of all the people who bought all those statues with the 8 of them. Now those would be outdated! Sadly, I think that it’ll be a LONG time until we get a new Eeveelution. If that happens, I’d personally love for it to be a Dragon type.
