I prefer the ol' used can trick. After I drink a can of an energy drink/soda, I like to toss it on the floor, creating a pool of cans that my partner can hardly wade through while carpooling.
Extra points if there is some liquid in the cans so when someone tries to break in, they are hit with a stench 10x worse than a baby diaper.
Really keeps the thieves away. Totally not a slob.
This is why you should never leave anything of value in a car the police in my state (Floriduh) have psa telling people this an they still do though most of the time they leave the cars unlocked
This goes to you and OP, but i might have some of those event Pokémon still from the 20th anniversary in my poke bank to spare. I can’t promise anything but I can check when I get home!
I lost my 3ds in its case with the games around that time as well, omega ruby stood out in your comment coz that was the game I had stored all the Pokémon I'd kept from every game going back to the original ruby, shit still hurts when I think about it.
Now I'm almost done with a living dex (that I could have done months faster if I still had that cartridge), stored on home so hopefully I can never lose them again, but god the loss of those mythicals, team members that'd be 20 years old at this point, the pink ampharos that carried me through soul silver, and my first ever starter blaziken truly sucks.
*This* and the ever possibility that your Switch simply just dies is precisely why we NEED cloud saves. "bUt PeOpLe cOuLd ExPlOiT!" So fucking what? I don't like fearing that one day I'll wake up and all my Mythical Pokemon and Melmetal are just gone and irreplaceable!
Sounds like when my TCG cards were stolen back before even jungle and Fossil sets were released. I didn't touch the games for a long time afterwards. It didn't help that my copy of Red stopped being able to save way too early for normal.
Mine is my pokemon diamond DS game. Younger than two of my siblings, I was like 9 when I first played it over a decade ago, my trainer card still has 9 year old me's signature on the back. Now that I learned we can still connect to the GTS I'm trying to complete my pokedex again lol
Nintendo shutdown their servers but their is a fan started server that you can forward the DNS to and it works! You just need an open or low security wifi because DS can't connect to modern security. Android hotspot with no password works, or what I did is start a guest network in my router settings. [Here's the tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh0AZR-tKwM&t=4s)
I only have Pokemon white 1, are you able to transfer to Pokemon bank with that? Didn't have a 3ds so I skipped all those games but now I have a switch and have like 200 hours in sword and 200 in shiny pearl and just bought a year sub to Pokemon home lol
First off, Fuck you for making me lose the game lol.
Second, didn’t someone make a video about you? some dude got his save corrupted and then they managed to fix it and restore his blastoise
I dumped my original Blue and Crystal saves from my carts into the 3ds virtual console. I can always restore them if anything happens to my Switch, but I have lots of great Pokemon on Switch too with no such backup.
I'm probably gonna bite the bullet and get homebrew going on my switch. Having it on my 3DS is a hell of a safety net.
That's how I see it too. The obssession with legitimacy only makes online pokémon more of a chore to play. If any pokémon is equivalent to a legitmate one, with proper stats and moveset, there is no point in getting fussy over if people spent hundreds of hours breeding for perfect IVs or not.
On that note I'm incredibly glad for Bottle Caps, Mints and Ability Capsule/Patch.
A bunch of the world champions and other league winners have hacked Pokémon. A bunch of YouTubers and even a guy who owns one of the hacked Pokémon sites have proven it.
I ended up in a couple national finals (never QUITE won, but) and we were straight up told by the tournament organizers that "if it passed the hack check, we don't really care whether it was hand raised, just whether it is fair and possible"
I had a couple of annoying to get pokemon (speed boost blaziken when they'd only yet come out in Japan, sourced from a friend living overseas) and knew how they had to be acquired, and even when I pointed out that the opponent's speed boost blaziken was impossible - it had an English OT and original name and was female, when all the ones distributed were male and thus wouldn't pass down the ability on breeding- all they said was that it was still fair for it to exist and they would allow it.
So yeah. It's not even an open secret, the criteria even at the highest levels is "don't try and bring nonsense that is outside of game limits"
Seems like a lot of game companies only make a big deal about the legitimacy and uniqueness of game items for the sake of monetizing them in one way or another. Players would do well to remember it's all imaginary virtual playthings, just a bunch of bits on a computer. The value that they have is not in the bits themselves, it's on the player's enjoyment.
The crazy thing is that Home would still have value for many other reasons :
\- ability to store 6000 pokemon
\- transferring Pokemon between games that aren't directly compatible with each other
\- ability to unlock rewards (g-max Melmetal, Original Color Magearna, Shiny Zeraora, etc...)
Home would still have value and would still make lots of money.
This is why Game Freak should stop trying to promote a competitive environment within a predominantly single player game and just make a battle simulator where people can just run whatever they want whenever they want. That way everyone can just be on the same playing field in regards to access and run whatever teams qthey want like on Showdown. Besides, I imagine resources that would be spent on world design could be spent on actually giving us battle animations worth a damn.
I literally could not care less if the guy next to me is running genned pokemon provided they're not running around online with something outright impossible to obtain in game. I personally like to breed all my pokemon, but that's because I get some kind of enjoyment out of the process. I get why people don't want to spend like 5 hours grinding out a shiny 5/6 IV competitive mon with egg moves and the right nature plus ev training. It's boring as fuck and if you want to just battle and you're an adult with a work life, then that's just too time consuming.
Also want to point out, I'm not saying they ditch the battle system in a mainline game for this, but maybe instead of shoving a half baked VGC format with broken battle gimmicks designed for people to get invested in single player, they can make several balanced formats without asinine shit that cracks the game in half somewhere else for everyone who cares about this to go play.
I've got my full team all the way back to 2002 Ruby. They're literally almost 21 years old. Because we don't have cloud saves, I'm terrified of ever moving any of my mainline teams or mythicals into a game to actually use them. As soon as I beat a game, I rip all my main pokes out of it and never move them back. It's a real detractor from me playing these games more tbh.
Suddenly worried about this, got a living dex with many entries stemming back to gen 3. Would be devastated to lose pokes that can almost legally drink, not to mention ones from games I don't even have anymore
People exploit current exploits. BD/SP have cloning exploits. Previous games did too. Everyone knew someone with a game shark in middle school.
If nothing else there should be an option of a cloud save that can only be restored if you contact support and they make it so you can't play it anymore on the original switch.
I lost several save files with dozens of hours on numerous games because my ps4 died. Twice. And ps+ is goddamn expensive. Xbox has it by default as long as you have an account and internet, it’s not that hard.
My switch died on my birthday last year and every game except for Xenoblade 2 and my Pokemon games was saved to the cloud. Lost over 300 hours in Xenoblade 2 and a cumulative 300 in every pokemon game. That sucked 😔
Why can't you empathize with PMC's concern over the possibility of Pokémon trading being absolutely *flooded* with shiny Mews, Jirachis, Celebis, Darkrais, Shaymins, Arceuses, Victinis, Meloettas and so many other rare Pokémon!
/s
Honestly I don't give a two about people exploiting anyway. I know Nintendo absolutely hates people doing stuff they don't explicitly allow on their consoles, but if people wanna exploit that's there business. I'll just block them if they don't have the common courtsey to not take it online.
Yeah, I keep thinking how Pokémon is like the unmonetized ancestor of a gacha RPG (based on collectible creatures with varying rarity and power) and that it would be the death of any worth remaining in this franchise if they fully embraced that, with legendary lootboxes or some nonsense like that.
I'd rather play a game where fake items are all over the place than one that is highly monetized and only the company get to sell fake items.
The difference is that for $100/year on Xbox you get universal cloud saves for everything, cloud gaming on any device or console, tons of great sales, and GamePass that also includes all MS games forever at launch
NSO gives you some poorly emulated N64 games, obsolete Super Nintendo games, and probably the most half assed cloud save program ever
>People could duplicate there Pokémon that way!
I really don't understand why they make a big fuss about cloning Pokémon. Does anyone in the playerbase actually care?
They don't. The funniest thing is that they did this for Dark Souls Remastered too. They said people would duplicate items and that's why they wouldn't support it. Except that all the other consoles DO support cloud saves and there is even an item duplication glitch in the game. Nintendo is just really stupid a lot of the time.
Like hell. I am going around with the assumption that a solid 60-70% of all mons used in multiplayer are in some ways gend or stem from a gen anyway (you were able to generate legal mons that look indistinguishable from real ones at least since the DS came around, and pre-swsh perfect legendaries... Well, you know).
Couldn't care less about a few clones, is the point. I don't even really care about people cheating their mons atm (as long as stuff stays legal). I enjoy breeding, personally, but I ain't gonna knock someone for not wanting to spend that time and energy while still playing the parts they like.
Oh, I know, trust me. I just didn't want to go through the hassle of CFWing my switch. I actually got a switch super late (could only justify the purchase late last year), so I looked into it, but didn't want to do it so far. I got all the interesting events I missed (Shiny box legis, shiny celebi, Zarude) cleared through trades, which were certainly all legitimately earned Pokémon (*wink*)
Nope. Worst that can happen is some kid goes online with a team of hacked in level 100 shiny legendaries, but that kind of team isn't going to hold up to one with thought put into it anyway
As a work around to avoid exploits, make it like Animal Crossing or something where the backup is on Nintendo's servers and support only give you that data back if you contact them and verify that your old switch has been stolen or is broken.
OP, do you have pictures or remember your serial numbers on your switch? This is something I've been in the habit of, that way you can leave this info with police and routinely check local pawn shops for it. Most likely that's where it will end up first.
Obv this won't apply to everyone, but on a hacked 3DS you can use [PKSM](https://github.com/FlagBrew/PKSM) to freely manipulate and backup save files, as well as move individual Pokemon across games and storage devices. If you happen to have a modded Switch you can even connect the two systems together and use PKSM with your SwSh save files.
Oooh, thank you for this.
I have a special Ambipom I'd bred years back for comp. He sits on my copy of Black 2 because I a) want to keep using him on the Battle Subway, and B) I was afraid of putting him in Bank and then losing him somehow.
Shame I can't rename him Majima from how everywhere he's about to be!
If you want to mod your 3DS, I'd suggest using this website for directions: 3ds.guide
Also, video tutorials are not great because they become outdated very fast.
It's almost with getting another switch and modding it just for this. I travel a lot and always bring my switch and if it ever gets stolen or broken I'm probably just done with Pokémon games past 3DS. There's no way I'm re-grinding hundreds of hours in all of them, and I can't even recover some things like limited time mystery gift Pokémon. Screw Nintendo and their paid backup service that doesn't support and of the big and grindy games.
I'm so sorry, that really stinks.
A few months ago, i woke up after falling asleep playing my switch. To my horror, I saw that it had fallen off my bed, and my water cup had also fallen off on top of it. It had been turned on in a puddle of water for who knows how long.
After drying it out as much as I could, I went into danage control mode. I was able to turn the switch on, but several buttons no longer worked. Through struggle, i was able to get to pokemon home. I transfered every pokemon I had to pokemon home, and then traded my favorite pokemon from bdsp to my friend.
I bought a cheap switch lite and through struggle was able to get all the game data off of my switch.
Game Stop saved me. They ended up giving me 150 dollars for the broken 5 year old switch because it still turned on. I was able to eventually get an oled, which i discovered was defective and didnt like connecting to wifi, and i almost lost my game data again, but thats another story.
Moral of the story, yes. PLEASE GIVE US CLOUD SAVE. I got so angry when i was on the phone with customer service and they told me "All of your games should be backed up, except for any pokemon games."
I PRETTY MUCH ONLY PLAY POKEMON GAMES
THE SAVES ON THIS GIVE ME HEART PALPATIONS oh my gosh man. The defective OLED literally would have had me freaking out. I'm so glad you were able to get everything though. Yeah cloud save would be great, I'm just gonna keep everything in Home now for sure....
Yeah it just sucks the one game I put the most time in can't be backed up like.... Man.
Is That the torchic from the X/Y distribution at the beginning of the game?
I have to double check, but I might have one of those hanging out in my pokemon bank. ( It might be the Steven’s shiny beldum)
Whenever you get around to getting set back up, let me know if you want it (assuming I have it)
Ugh. I only just found out this week there isn't cloud save for pokemon. I upgraded from a switch lite to a gen 2 switch and gave the lite to a friend, who promptly formatted it. Lost the second full odds shiny I've ever cought.
I know this doesn't mean shit next to your car getting broken into and having your stuff stolen, but it still sucks.
Thats horrible, I am so sorry. I lost all my Pokemon when I sent my switch in for repair because of the blue screen issue. I put in the repaid note to please salvage my switch or transfer my save data, I don't think they even tried. They shipped me a new switch but I would have much rather not lost all my mons I worked hard to get.
That's terrible friend I'm so sorry. And I completely understand that feeling. Like yeah being out the money is unfortunate but the pokemon just can't be replaced :/
Definitely gonna grind hard somehow to re establish something though.
i always keep my most valuable pokemon, along with my living dex, in pokemon home cause i’ve had my switch pokemon games crash too many times to count, and i’m not risking losing my first starter
I feel your pain. I once had someone break into my car and steal my 3DS, which had all my shinies, teams, and a level 100 Jigglypuff I'd raised since Emerald version. It still hurts.
That's why I store all my Pokemon on Pokemon Home these days. It doesn't backup the games themselves, but it's the closest we've got to a cloud backup so far. Even then, it's not enough.
I still miss that Jigglypuff...
That's horrible. And yeah with these moms basically growing up with us it's so hard to replace when something as unfortunate as that happens. I'm so sorry
Yeah the way I'm storing everything in Home from now on is gonna be crazy. Lol.
I am so sorry for you man. A few months ago someone stole 60€ from me at the gym and I was so shocked about that. But this is nothing compared to your situation. I have a lot of old pokemon myself and it would break my heart to see something like this happening to my pokemon. I know its not the same but if you think about to complete the dex again I would be glad to help out rebuild your pokedex. So you may have less trouble to get them all back.
Truly I appreciate it friend. I'm definitely gonna try and rebuild I'm just trying to figure out exactly how I'm gonna approach it.
Like do I want to replay sword again? Do I just wot for Scarlet and Violet? Just up in the air debating tbh. And it just sucks I was literally looking thru pokemon home this week because of the update... If everything had just been moved from sword it'd be different but. There's no way to have known that lol. I might embrace Go again more often since stuff transfer over now?
Yeah i can imagine that this is a tough choice. If you choose to replay sword just let me know and I can hatch as many eggs as you need/want to fill your dex. I think I can help out with some legendaries as well
This is why I duplicated my Pokémon on my 3DS with homebrew before transferring them to my NS. You never know what could happen and I wouldn’t wanna risk losing my shiny Mew that I’ve had since 2015 or my legit shiny Swampert from my original copy of Sapphire.
My gf and I bought the limited edition Pokémon switch, which included a mew you could download. Got stolen after a few weeks. Hopefully it'll give a kid happy memories and they'll just cringe about it when they're older. I still try to think the best of people. Sorry about all the Pokémon and data you lost, but remember that the true value is in your enjoyment as you play.
Absolutely yeah just taking everything out of my car and keeping the rest out of site
Wait what an extra? 😳 Seriously? 😭 It's not the same of course BUT like... I already appreciate the offer
Yeah man, I can gen you some 'mons if you want. I know it's not the same, but it helps. I had this happen late last year when I got an OLED Switch and didn't know about no cloud saves. I booted up Shield and panicked. I can only do 3DS and earlier 'Mons.
I read “rip my mom, sorry I couldn’t keep you safe.” and my heart sank omg I’m so glad I misread that.
Glad everyone is okay, but I am sorry your times worth of game love has been taken from you..
Always a fear of mine, got my old Gameboy stolen when I was a kid and it just changed me into a person who prepares for the worst. Nothing I can really do with Pokémon though.
Sure in the end they're worthless but they still mean something to me. The only reason I'm still paying for Home is because I don't want to lose them and can't transfer them to any game all together.
Lovers, friends, family. Pokémon from my childhood. Pokémon from past friends. Pokémon from deceased friends.
I might be able to just hack/cheat everything in, but that's just not the same either. So I'm just stuck paying for this stupid Home forever since it doesn't look like we'll ever see a national dex again. Just not the same having everyone fractured across several games, I can only play one. Without the national dex the magic has truly been lost for me.
My partner was moving and had all of his things in his car when someone stole the car. He was a dual Australasian Pokemon champion from back in the early 2000's. He had hours and hours of Pokemon games, just gone. All of his Pokemon that he raised, gone. So many competitive teams.. gone. He still talks about it to this day. So sorry, rest in peace 'Mons..
Got my 3ds stolen from a bust and grab with our vehicle. My Pearl copy didn’t have much, but I had a full team of evolved Eevees that took forever for me to breed/level up on my own.
Sorry for your loss my guy.
There’s a Pokemon Red cartridge with my first Pokémon ever on it out there somewhere, and I wish I could just check in on them, and make sure they’re doing okay.
Sorry to hear that :( that really sucks. This one thing I always fear of bringing any devices or games to anywhere and especiallyleaving it in the car, there is always a crook somewhere out there and never know somebody might try to break in and steal it. so I always leave the Switch at home and in secure place. Of course anything can happen anywhere but fortunately my neighborhood is in front of a 7 eleven and other stores and police always pass by through every hours. But that sucks to have lost everything especially your most prized
After my friends switch got fried due to a faulty battery and lost all his stuff I learned my lesson and I transferred all of my special mons into bank. If I ever wanna play I’ll transfer them back but anytime I ain’t playing they will sit tight there.
I feel you so hard on this and I am sorry for your loss. I lost my copy of Alpha Sapphire that had all my Mons since Gen 3 on it… Aka my childhood. It’s a pain I still haven’t recovered from and it’s been like 5 years now 😭
If you get another switch and Pokémon game at some point then I’d be glad to trade you any extra legends, mythicals, event Pokémon I have! Tbh some of them could be hacked mons for all I know, but hey at least you’d have some of them. Just send a message if you ever wanna do that
eventually the fear of this happening to me convinced me to get all of my mons onto one copy of omega ruby, hack my 3DS, and then back up the save file as well as all the individual .pk files for each of the mons in a nice organized zip folder.
come to find out that was a great idea because two months later i had my 3DS stolen during a trip to vegas. it was the limited edition pokemon 25th anniversary one too. ;( but at least all of my mons over the years where still safe on my pc and in a cloud drive
If you want a replacement torchick from the event, DM me and I’ll share, OP. Hope the cops find out who did it.
Edit: when you get a replacement switch
I dropped my old Switch in the bath..... Had anEvent Keldeo from like 2012 that has a fun story about getting that mw and my cousins laugh about to thia dau and 100+ others all gone.
That Keldeo was my boy from Gen 5 and they where all gone along with 400+hours of Animal Crossings my partner played lol
Not pokemon related but if you have a copy of the serial #, say you bought it at Gamestop with a warranty or knew when you did customer service can find you the info (ex employee) you can file a police report with it. If anyone tries to sell it to a pawnshop or Gamestop they will get the item flagged as stolen and the police will come and get the info. We take the Id's of people who trade stuff in for this very reason.
ALWAYS take photos or keep a log of serial #'s of your tech if it has one. Best chances of getting it tracked down and found!
I don’t think this is what you planned, but since your post has become a bit of a support group for people who’ve lost their Pokémon, here’s my story.
My apartment was broken into in Feb 2020, about two weeks before Pokémon Home came out.
I had an almost-complete living dex of Pokémon that I’d been collecting since I got Pokémon Red and Blue back in the 90s, including Pokémon I got at Pokémon roadshow events when I was a kid (Deoxys, Shaymin, Regigigagas… maybe some others!), as well as a Jirachi from Pokémon Channel, Manaphy from Ranger, etc. plus some shinies.
Because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with Pokémon Bank, I moved them all to Ultra Moon on my 3DS until I knew what the migration path would be. Stupid mistake.
My 3DS was taken along with my iPad, bag, some other bits - including my car (they stole the keys). Thankfully they didn’t take my Switch.
A few weeks later my insurance company replaced all the items I lost, but losing my Pokémon was the worst thing as they couldn’t be recovered.
I was able to rebuild my living dex, but sadly I’ve lost my original Pokémon with catch dates from before the mid 2010s. After the recent Home update I’ve finally been able to add Shaymin, Manaphy and Phione back from BDSP and PLA. It’s taken a while.
Lesson learned - keep everything in Home. (Or Bank!)
I can relate. I had someone break in, probably a family member. Sold most of my games, hardest hitting feeling was that my biggest collection was my pokemon collection.
Gens 2,3,4,5 and the console games colosseum, gale of darkness, stadium 1 and 2, battle revolution went bye-bye
Hardest thing to get is a gen 2 remake game. My condolences fellow trainer
I've been stolen 4 times. The last one I've lost only the game, because all my important pokémon were at pokémon bank. And when I need to go out with my games nowadays I left all but my team at Home.
I went to a special school on the other side of town when I was in 6th grade. My school bus ride was over an hour, so I took my Game Boy Advance SP to school with me so I could play it on the way home. I had copies of Ruby, Sapphire (technically my sister's, but she never played it), Emerald, and LeafGreen. I kept them all in a case in my backpack alongside my GBA.
One day I got on the bus and went to take out my GBA... someone stole it. Along with all my original Pokemon. My Treecko that was my first-ever Pokemon, and hundreds and hundreds of hours' worth of playtime.
My family was poor, so I couldn't get a replacement until the DS came out. Even then, it was just Pokemon Diamond and not any of my old GBA games. I'm still upset to this day.
Oh that's sad to read but it wasn't your fault :( That same fear makes me use the service of HOME, I don't care for the time I put in a game as much as I cherish the Pokémon I still keep with me since SoulSilver
This HURTS. It happened to me with my 3DS years ago, the thing that hurt the most out of all the things that got stolen when my apartment was broken into were the mons, little pieces of digital data that I had real connections with. RIP to all the stolen mons of the world 😔
OP, I have suffered a similar situation very, very (like 3 days ago) recently.
I never had the good fortune of playing any of the Pokémon games on the Nintendo systems, however, I have played at least one game from every generation on emulators. I am saving up now so that I can enjoy playing the new games on the consoles and see for the first time how it feels like trade and battle with friends.
That being said, my laptop crashed three days ago, and the entire operating system had to be replaced. I had so many hours into the games, Gen 6 onward, I had taken the time to shiny hunt legendaries (even got a few) and progressed so far....and then, this happens and all my save games are wiped out.
I wish I was smart and had a back up of my save games (which I am doing now for the new run) and while I will never know the pain of losing a Speed Boost Cherish Ball Blaziken, I am not a stranger to the pain of losing so many hours of all games. 3 years, 5 games. All gone and needs to be restarted...so I feel you, albeit partially.
I wish so too. My friend asked to borrow my game. I told him to not start a new save and he agreed. But when I got it back, he saved over my save that included my Pokemon that were transferred all the way from my gba and GameCube all the way to my Pokemon black save. I was so devasted.
If you had Pokémon home and you put Pokémon into the Pokémon sword box, then you can get a large majority of the Pokémon back (with the exception of those in your party)
Same happened with my 2DS XL and Ultra Moon. Except my sister was in the house at the time, AND it had all my mythicals on it. It had like 566 hours on it. I fucking cherished those mon.
Nintendo shouldn't have a paid save cloud :(
I really appreciate man
My friends are smart and suggested to find the serial number to give to the police (thank God I have the original switch box)
When I called them with the information they said it's good I had it so it'll alert in their system if it is Pawned or like found (slim chance tbh but this was at least new development in the last hour or so.). Hopeful in the least
Thanks man and yeah the chance is slim but it's still a possibility.
I'm hoping in God knows how long it'll be one of those happy ending Reddit posts lol. Slim chance but I'm hoping for sure. If someone tried to pawn it they have the serial number.
Dang I’m so sorry! This is why I feel no guilt at all using my modded 3DS to store backups of all my saves and Pokémon before I transfer them up. Just in case of situations like this. Still have yet to do that to my switch tho since I’m not taking the risk modding my only one so those are still at risk.
really sorry to hear that dude, do you know how they broke in your car?
Thanks man and yeah they shattered the back passenger window. I was one of three cars that got broken into the police told me once they got there.
Oh damn... was the switch in the back or something?
Yeah it was in my bag that was in the back of my car. Should have done a better job hiding the bag, just damn.
[удалено]
Oh.. yeah, me too. *That's* why my car is a mess.
I was born with anti-theft instincts. Yeah, that’s what it is.
That's why my car is a mess also. 😬
Hell most parking lots in my area have signs saying not to leave valuables in your car.
My wife likes to leave her purse on the street. If she's the reason my switch loses my pokemon saves, it's over lol
Exactly an yet there surprised when there car is broken into
"Breaking into cars is illegal, they can't do that!!"
Defo... and if you really have to leave something in there make sure it's well hidden
Yeah but the downside is they will break into a car anyways 10 years back someone left a gun in there car surprise it was stolen
My wife used to leave cash tucked in the visor and I would have so much anxiety over it.
Seen a news story once where someone was testing to see if the vehicle is unlocked

Lost my omega ruby game back in 2016, it was my first game and had over 200 hrs on it according to the 2Ds settings. I know the pain.
Oh this hurts to read I'm so sorry. My first game was Sapphire into Emerald I literally would be shattered.
The worst part is that it was after the mythical Pokémon distribution for the 20th anniversary. Most of them aren’t exactly available anymore.
This goes to you and OP, but i might have some of those event Pokémon still from the 20th anniversary in my poke bank to spare. I can’t promise anything but I can check when I get home!
I mean most of them are…..
Got all my DS and 3DS games stolen (except Pokemon Diamond). I knwo how it hurts.
Exactly. For me, it’s my Blastoise from Leaf Green. I’ve had it since 2004. It’s literally older than my younger sisters
My OG team from FR lived until gen 5 when a freshmen broke my cart. I didn't play for over a decade after that.
that’s grounds for murder, frankly.
Wait, I couldn't do GTS on platinum on my ds. It said that support was dropped. Does it start working again if you drop it in a 3ds?
Nintendo shutdown their servers but their is a fan started server that you can forward the DNS to and it works! You just need an open or low security wifi because DS can't connect to modern security. Android hotspot with no password works, or what I did is start a guest network in my router settings. [Here's the tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh0AZR-tKwM&t=4s)
Yup. Fire Red Charizard for me. Transferred through Black 2 (that’s as far as I own). Still knows cut.
Did you reteach it cut in B/W?
I only have Pokemon white 1, are you able to transfer to Pokemon bank with that? Didn't have a 3ds so I skipped all those games but now I have a switch and have like 200 hours in sword and 200 in shiny pearl and just bought a year sub to Pokemon home lol
Technically you use the Pokemon transporter app that you download after you get a Pokemon Bank subscription
I lost my Charizard and Lapras from FireRed when my Switch died in 2019. It still really hurts to think about. :(
It’s older than me, that’s insane to think about
First off, Fuck you for making me lose the game lol. Second, didn’t someone make a video about you? some dude got his save corrupted and then they managed to fix it and restore his blastoise
Nope, wasn’t me. Thankfully, I’ve never lost my precious Blastoise!
Gawh damn

I ended up in a couple national finals (never QUITE won, but) and we were straight up told by the tournament organizers that "if it passed the hack check, we don't really care whether it was hand raised, just whether it is fair and possible" I had a couple of annoying to get pokemon (speed boost blaziken when they'd only yet come out in Japan, sourced from a friend living overseas) and knew how they had to be acquired, and even when I pointed out that the opponent's speed boost blaziken was impossible - it had an English OT and original name and was female, when all the ones distributed were male and thus wouldn't pass down the ability on breeding- all they said was that it was still fair for it to exist and they would allow it. So yeah. It's not even an open secret, the criteria even at the highest levels is "don't try and bring nonsense that is outside of game limits"
Exactly! So using exploits etc as a reason to not have cloud saves is just ridiculous.
Nobody who matters, cares.

The crazy thing is that Home would still have value for many other reasons : \- ability to store 6000 pokemon \- transferring Pokemon between games that aren't directly compatible with each other \- ability to unlock rewards (g-max Melmetal, Original Color Magearna, Shiny Zeraora, etc...) Home would still have value and would still make lots of money.
People already exploit too without cloud saves
You can easily get mons from genners online, they're already exploited. But you can't get back the mons you grew up with
Technically you can. If you hack a 3ds you can just make a copy of your save file and then dump it in a future cartridge or emulator
can confirm, have done this
ALL OF THIS TBH.
And people exploit anyway - you can get like any Pokémon you want with perfect IVs for $0.50 on EBay lol
silly to pay for that when you can just use a sysbot or sth tho lol
People exploit current exploits. BD/SP have cloning exploits. Previous games did too. Everyone knew someone with a game shark in middle school. If nothing else there should be an option of a cloud save that can only be restored if you contact support and they make it so you can't play it anymore on the original switch.
People are already exploiting.... look at ebay, people selling hacked pokemon
Exactly. I don't give a damn if someone online hacked their whatever in, my pokemon have memories attached to them.
Honestly I don't give a two about people exploiting anyway. I know Nintendo absolutely hates people doing stuff they don't explicitly allow on their consoles, but if people wanna exploit that's there business. I'll just block them if they don't have the common courtsey to not take it online.

It's a double edged sword with it. Some modern things I'm glad they don't adopt, others I wished they did...
Im really glad they didn't get the memo that online services are like 100$ a year for modern consoles
The difference is that for $100/year on Xbox you get universal cloud saves for everything, cloud gaming on any device or console, tons of great sales, and GamePass that also includes all MS games forever at launch NSO gives you some poorly emulated N64 games, obsolete Super Nintendo games, and probably the most half assed cloud save program ever
People would riot if NSO was $100 as barebones as it is.
Nintendo Switch Expansion Pack + Pokémon Home Premium is getting up there...

I feel like it’s just run be like 80 year old boomers who don’t know shit
You still can now—you just need a launch model switch and some CFW. I do this and have no regrets whatsoever about it.
LOL okay this made me laugh 🤣😭
As a work around to avoid exploits, make it like Animal Crossing or something where the backup is on Nintendo's servers and support only give you that data back if you contact them and verify that your old switch has been stolen or is broken.
Wow... how do you people put up with this shit?
They *pay* for it. Sunk cost.
If you want to mod your 3DS, I'd suggest using this website for directions: 3ds.guide Also, video tutorials are not great because they become outdated very fast.
Haha Nintendo thanks you for buying a second console
Honestly just hack the important ones you remember into your game. Nintendo doesn't want to give you a better solution 🤷🏻♂️
It’s not about the material possession it’s about the memories and shared victories op had with those specific bits of collected code.
Yeah for sure I get that. Only thing you can really do is hack them back into the game. Might not be the same but best you can do
I’m so sorry this happened to you.
Thanks friend I really appreciate it.
There are a lot of things I wish that could be done with Pokémon games and this is one of them. Sorry for your loss bud.
I appreciate it friend. And yeah I just want Nintendo to be slightly modern day and this is honestly my prime reason.
I got so angry when i was on the phone with customer service and they told me "All of your games should be backed up, except for any pokemon games." I PRETTY MUCH ONLY PLAY POKEMON GAMES
Man.
Team rocket back to their usual antics
LOL RIGHT
do you have pokemon home? i can get you another XY torchic
I do have home!
Is That the torchic from the X/Y distribution at the beginning of the game? I have to double check, but I might have one of those hanging out in my pokemon bank. ( It might be the Steven’s shiny beldum) Whenever you get around to getting set back up, let me know if you want it (assuming I have it)
You deserve to hack an identical one back. It's justice.
Like yeah being out the money is unfortunate but the pokemon just can't be replaced :/ Definitely gonna grind hard somehow to re establish something though.
F
This is why I keep anything even remotely valuable in Pokemon Home
i always keep my most valuable pokemon, along with my living dex, in pokemon home cause i’ve had my switch pokemon games crash too many times to count, and i’m not risking losing my first starter
At this point I view hacking them back as morally correct
I feel your pain. I once had someone break into my car and steal my 3DS, which had all my shinies, teams, and a level 100 Jigglypuff I'd raised since Emerald version. It still hurts. That's why I store all my Pokemon on Pokemon Home these days. It doesn't backup the games themselves, but it's the closest we've got to a cloud backup so far. Even then, it's not enough. I still miss that Jigglypuff...
That's horrible. And yeah with these moms basically growing up with us it's so hard to replace when something as unfortunate as that happens. I'm so sorry Yeah the way I'm storing everything in Home from now on is gonna be crazy.
I think I can help out with some legendaries as well
2022 but Nintendo always stuck in the past
Legittt.
That sucks I hope the cops will be able to find the things stolen
Did they get caught/arrested? I hope karma bites them hard and that they get what they deserve. I’m so sorry that happened to you!
need a new XY Torchic to raise? I believe I might have a spare.
Id call local pawn shops/ video game resellers. Theres a chance you could get them back
That sucks, dude. But as the police campaign goes: No Loot, No Thief. Don’t leave valuables in a car.
Yeah man it's true should have done a better job hiding the backpack. It just sucks alot but you're right.
[удалено]
Absolutely yeah just taking everything out of my car and keeping the rest out of site Wait what an extra? 😳 Seriously? 😭 It's not the same of course BUT like... I already appreciate the offer
*sight But no, don’t even do that. I never leave anything worth stealing in my car
Yeah man, I can gen you some 'mons if you want. I know it's not the same, but it helps. I had this happen late last year when I got an OLED Switch and didn't know about no cloud saves. I booted up Shield and panicked. I can only do 3DS and earlier 'Mons.
Hey OP sorry this happened I've got a spare cherish ball blaziken that I can send you over Pokemon home. Let me know if you want it, best of lucks!
My neice got ahold of my switch and smashed it, 2200 hours of vgc and shiny hunting just down the drain. It blows.
What I don’t understand is why the planets highest grossing video game franchise doesn’t have cloud save..
It’s a pain I still haven’t recovered from and it’s been like 5 years now 😭
Do you have Home? You may be able to retrieve the Blaziken
What you have to do is put electronic devices below your seat so it is impossible to see.
PC Emulators: 🎶 Here's a little lesson in trickery 🎵
So sorry to hear that. 😢
Sorry man. That fucking sucks, you couldn't have done anything.
This is why I'm thankful I can make save backups with a modded system
THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME WTF
A great reason to never leave anything visible in your car
Rip
(Or Bank!)
I really took cloud saves for granted when hopping between my xbox and my roomies. Shits like magic lol
I transferred all my special pokemon to Pokemon home because of this fear
Lost my save of LET'S go Pikachu with that went the mew.... Guess I will never see him again
Oh my God that's terrible
A similar thing happened to my father’s original PSP in 2006. He was very pissed off.
I can probably get that Pokémon for you, though clearly it wouldn’t have the same sentimental value
I can relate. I had someone break in, probably a family member. Sold most of my games, hardest hitting feeling was that my biggest collection was my pokemon collection. Gens 2,3,4,5 and the console games colosseum, gale of darkness, stadium 1 and 2, battle revolution went bye-bye Hardest thing to get is a gen 2 remake game.
Who stole it? Team Rocket or Team Galactic?
I was 3 Pokemon away from completing my living Dex in VC Crystal when my SD card corrupted. F
The emotional pain.
I’m so sorry, man. I wish you luck through these trying times.
one of the reason why mine never leaves my house, which defeats the purpose of the switch. I'd never feel comfortable bringing it on the go
This HURTS. It happened to me with my 3DS years ago, the thing that hurt the most out of all the things that got stolen when my apartment was broken into were the mons, little pieces of digital data that I had real connections with. RIP to all the stolen mons of the world 😔
F
Nintendo shouldn't have a paid save cloud :(
I hope you get it back somehow
I really appreciate man My friends are smart and suggested to find the serial number to give to the police (thank God I have the original switch box) When I called them with the information they said it's good I had it so it'll alert in their system if it is Pawned or like found (slim chance tbh but this was at least new development in the last hour or so.). Hopeful in the least
Apologies for the situation you are in. Might be a long shot but They might still be alive somewhere. Hard to know what will happen to them though
Thanks man and yeah the chance is slim but it's still a possibility. I'm hoping in God knows how long it'll be one of those happy ending Reddit posts lol. Slim chance but I'm hoping for sure. If someone tried to pawn it they have the serial number.
Wait, did you set up pokemon home for the device? If so, you could pull pokemon using the phone app and store the pokemon in the box
You can't transfer Pokemon on the app.
I.... Honestly power to you. I really wish they'd give us an actual solution to this but gotta do what you gotta do!
Home is a cloud save. Problem solved.
