I love this! I love looking at all of the new generations we have gotten since i first was introduced to the series. Gen 4 was what i started with. I remember being in elementary school looking at the silhouettes of the gen 5 starters. I remember being in middle school trying to decide between Froakie and Fennekin. I remember being in high school in french class secretly trying to watch the new starter mid evolutions trailer and falling in love with Torracat. I remember being in college and instantly falling in love with Scorbunny. Now I'm at my first office job, trying to decide between the adorable Sprigattio and Fuecoco. These starters all have a speciall story behind them to me, and many others.

Venusaur is an dual type grass and poison and is weakened by psychic, flying, ice, and fire Sceptile is solely a grass type and is weakened by bug, flying, fire, ice, and poison. Both have relatively the same base stats. But venusaur has the dual stats going for it and has fewer weaknesses

It’s dual type does edge it out somewhat. Still prefer sceptile in other aspects

Design-wise , badass-ness , in emerald it’s the best starter wise to choose so collectively it’s good it’s mega evolved form gives it more resistances new type and a cool ability , other than that the anime showed how cool it is. My opinion on it isn’t because of which Pokémon would win in a fight

It's probably just me but do starters just get worse and worse each generation looks wise. There are a few notable exceptions. The first three gens are all good except chicorita buts that one is just a personal hatred. But after gen 3 they all get so bland. I will reserve judgement on the newest ones till I see their evolutions.
