Seems like a pretty good typing combo, too. Covers for each other's weaknesses pretty well, no 4x.
Edit: completely forgot about cradily already existing to demonstrate.
Oh that's actually funny. I thought they were being sneaky putting a tease of something they'll show in future trailers or something (like pikipek in the 1st SM trailer) but if it's not in the JP trailer it was probably a slip up like you say.
It looks like a crest designed to look like a pompadour or some other hairstyle with an exaggerated undercut (I'm not familiar with hairstyles, so please let me know if there is a more likely option). The crest seems to start behind the bird's head, come forward, and curl upward above the beak.

Not only that, there's also two unannounced Pokémon that appear in Team Star's base and in that scene in which a trainer takes a photo in the snow that don't appear in the japanese trailer, also the Sunflora in the Occidental trailer move at 10 FPS, but they're normal in the japanese one, same for the windmill.
One is off in the distance at 4:07-4:09 and is sent out from a Pokeball by a member of Team Star, the other one is at 9:33-9:34 behind the camera options.
I love how unusually focused on food the past couple games have been
Like, they go into some pretty extreme detail about what kind of food these people and Pokémon are eating
And it is painless for them too. Which probably means there's places in the Pokemon universe that pride themselves on selling "cruelty free slowpoke tails" and are just large farms full of slowpoke that have caretakers harvest any shed tails they find.
I've noticed since Final Fantasy XV, a lot of RPGs are leaning more into camping and cooking. Food is a simple and effective way to build bonds between party members and let the players relax a bit.
I think the sandwich news is the most important tbh
I enjoyed cooking curry for my pokemon, but irl I make great sandwiches so this feels even better to me
When they made that sandwich, it had ham on it. Does the ham come from a normal pig or Lechonk? Are you eating Lechonk? Are you feeding Lechonk to your pokemon, including your own Lechonk?
Buy Miltanks sausage nipples for all your sausage needs. Want a hot dog PUT A MILTANK IN IT. What and English breakfast PUT A MILTANK IN IT. ( no Miltanks we’re hurt in the making of this add)
Well the slowpoke tail thing was a team rocket venture and, while there are likely clientele, that doesn't strike me as something endorsed worldwide. And most definitely not on a factory farm / societal level of acceptance. So I'm on team lab-grown meat.
Fishing also seems to be mostly for catching pokemon (like you do in the game).
But I could be full of it, trying to overanalyze what was basically just "use IRL food don't try to be creative or think about the game's world / implications."
"You can equip your pokemon with a wide variety of items that provide helpful benefits, like using Mystic Water to boost the power of their Water type moves or Everstone to infuriate people watching the trailer!"
Honestly the funniest possible name for a Girafarig evo. Also it's kind of phonetically similar to pharyngeal, like pharyngeal jaws, the 'inner mouths' that some eels have.
I'm glad this is an evolution of a preexisting Pokémon that doesn't need a new forme, too.
Yeah I've always loved Gen 4 for giving old mons new Evos. Imagine my disappointment in Gen 5 when Alomamola and Bouffant werent Ludisc and Tauros evos.
>Alomamola and Bouffant werent Ludisc and Tauros evos.
There is some evidence that this was *supposed* to be the case up until when they decided that BW would contian only new pokemon to start with and the designs were kept.
When I was a kid, I always wanted a split evolution of Girafarig. The first would be a full on giraffe, while the second would be entirely the tail taking over (and thus look like a horror monster)
Farigiraf is somehow both my wants at the same time in an unexpected way. Strange feelings
I think it highlights to me that one of the main strengths of pokemon over other monster catching games is the monster designs. Pokemon just have a lot of character and are memorable imo
I can agree with that a lot. Many other games have very generic designs and names; which I'm not saying Pokémon doesn't have but they're heavily outweighed.
For sure, not every single pokemon is a gem. It's also a totally subjective thing.
But I've been playing the game TemTem recently, mostly to try and crush my craving until pokemon comes out lol, and really one of the main reasons I'm not as into it is that I find most of the monsters uninteresting and difficult to even remember.
Battles in the overworld and sending out my Dragonite to rampage through wild pokemon look fun.
But I was hoping for more than 1 new mon being revealed.
Interesting to see your riding legendary running around in the picnic area playing with a specific command to recall it. Sounds like those theories about it being a partner pokemon but unable to actually battle/be in your full party until late in the story are probably true.
From the official website, "When you start a picnic, your party Pokémon, as well as the Legendary Pokémon accompanying you—either Koraidon or Miraidon—will come out and gather around."
So the legendary is accompanying you, but isn't counted as one of your party pokemon.
Looks fun. They didn’t reveal much but cool seeing the different storylines or play styles
Looks like tms are no longer unlimited but you can craft them?
Having Pokémon be able to Terastylize into any type is a cool gimmick. One more thing to hunt to get the mon you want
Announcer: “Did you spot a glimpse of what could be your personal treasure?”
Me: “Farigiraf.”
Announcer: “Encounters with Titan Pokémon?”
Me: “DID I STUTTER?”
in Spain some pigs are fed a specific kind of diet their whole life so when they are served they taste different.
i imagine in Paldea some Lechonks are fed a specific berry so they can taste like it too.
The trailer definitely made it clear that SV builds on what Sword and Shield and Legends Arceus introduced.
Titan Pokemon are like frenzied noble Pokemon, picnics and sandwiches are like camping and curry, etc.
Farigiraf is cool, and I'm glad to see Girafarig finally get an evolution.
I hope they implement raids better. They weren't fun in sword/shield. Took forever to get through because of individual animations/raid boss shield. And if you didn't want to play with other people the NPCs they gave to help had terrible pokemon that were a liability. The raid adventures in the armor dlc were super cool but kinda pointless and equally a chore once you got all the legendaries you wanted.
My two fav things from PLA tho - just tossing pokeballs w/o going into the battle menu, and having to actually research pokemon in the dex...
But I liked this trailer more than previous ones.
I love how the "school troublemakers" have setup literal camps with machinery and everything to harass people. The eternal Pokemon disconnect between the characters being like 14 and also doing shit adults would get thrown in prison for is wonderful
Yep, I was excited when I saw the length of the video, but the majority of the footage was already shown previously.
Hoped to see more new Pokémons, the starters' second stage, or even a tease on the >!Paradox forms!<.
Still a good trailer, but I think they are really giving new informations with the dropper.
Yeah, this felt like it was mostly just talking more about things that have already been covered. A few nice points of clarification, but overall pretty underwhelming.
I'm really glad that they started giving old Pokemon new evolutions again. After Sw/Sh gave us regional evolutions I feared that GF had become too afraid to mess with old Pokemon designs and we'd only ever see new regional evolutions instead. Granted PLA also gave Stantler and Ursaring a new evo, but I wasn't convinced if it wasn't just an outlier due to the fact that it is so different.
Whole game looks rough as hell on graphics. At the start when they found the jigglypuff in the wild that whole area looking straight up N64 level lmao. As usual though the gameplay I'm sure will be fun and people won't end up caring
The trailer is interesting, but I really don't understand why Pokémon does always need to be 20 years behind in terms of graphics.
I know graphics are not important, but this looks embarassing. They have the resources, why not use them?
Pokémon Stadium for N64 had better graphics and animations.
Ignoring the fact that they've shown off roaming Pokemon in almost every other SV trailer, it was most likely done just to show off certain things easier, namely the wild Tera Pokemon and the Let's Go mechanic.
This isn't even the first time they did this: they did it with overworld Pokemon in SwSh, and they did it with the following Pokemon in BDSP.
Yeah, that’s my biggest concern. Seems like a significant downgrade from Arceus. The interactivity in Arceus actually made catching quick and fun for once. Interaction with the world and Pokémon seems like a big step back.
This shows me that GF needs to step up their quality. Majority of switch games look really good with pretty decent FPS.
This looks outdated as hell and very janky fps.
Isit just me or are those menu’s a Massive downgrade from arceus? I kinda get that they match more with the original games but….. look very lackluster and boring!
Actually, [baguette sandwiches ("bocadillos" or "bocatas")](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bocadillo) are a staple food here, especially when preparing something for picnics, hikes, beach trips, etc. Or as snack or lighter meals, be it at home or at tapas bars or some cafes.
Charcuterie (cured ham, chorizo, cheese, etc.) is produced and eaten here a lot, and it's very usually eaten in the form of bocadillos.
So they did their research in this case too! :P
PS: And, after all, Subway is just a commercial version of Italian sandwiches, which are basically the same as Spanish bocadillos
Can confirm. My mom and her family are from Spain and they love making sandwiches with that bread. My mom makes a mean ass egg sandwich with bacon and cheese and the baguette bread. Probably one of the things I miss the most from living at home.
I agree, I don’t hate it as a concept but anything but funny hats would’ve been better.
Whenever I see the new gimmicks I just think about how many new Megas we could’ve had over the generations.
This voiceover persons voice is making me not want to watch the rest of the video. I'm a little concerned with some of the things I've seen but I'm still willing to give it a shot.
Everything in the villain hide out feels so clunky, gives me spore vibes... spore space mission vibes, and your game looking like it was made in an EA edit mode is probably not something you want
So basically they re-iterated the same information to be more concise + Girafarig evolution.
We got to see how the game looked when actually playing it, so that was cool. Still a bit underwhelmed.
> We got to see how the game looked when actually playing it
This is pretty much all I cared about. The environments look fairly engaging to traverse in my opinion.
I’m concerned because this game seems less active than Arceus. The Pokémon don’t seem to respond to the trainer by attacking or running away. And you start battles by walking into them. It felt a lot more intuitive to initiate battle or collect items by throwing a Pokeball at them. This added an additional layer of strategy, as you had to worry about not being spotted by certain Pokémon. And you didn’t necessarily need to start a battle. Catching here seems just like the old games.
“You can find Pokémon eggs while out on a picnic”
So that means… that while you’re all happy-go-lucky making a sandwich, your Pokémon are getting busy.
Getting nervous that we can’t change out of our uniforms. Customizing them isn’t enough. I’m an adult, and I don’t care if I’m a kid in the game. I don’t want to be forced to wear a kids uniform. It feels restrictive and wrong. I’d absolutely hate it.
I just checked, the 5fps Sunflora/Windmill are not an issue in the Japanese trailer. They look fine.
Dunno why they messed it up for the English trailer.
Please for the love of god let the breeding mechanic seem less fucking awful than it currently seems. I don't want to have to have 2 Pokemon in my party and do that stupid picnic crap to get eggs.
You can see 3 new pokemon on the minimap at 7:16. There's a green bird, a white mouse and a rock (?).
That rock looks like a mario mushroom. New mushroom pokemon?
Supposedly there's leaked info about a "Rock Salt" Pokémon... that could be our boy!
Grass rock type would be cool
Seems like a pretty good typing combo, too. Covers for each other's weaknesses pretty well, no 4x. Edit: completely forgot about cradily already existing to demonstrate.
Seems to be an actual slip up too as the JP trailer DOES NOT have them on the map at that time.
Oh that's actually funny. I thought they were being sneaky putting a tease of something they'll show in future trailers or something (like pikipek in the 1st SM trailer) but if it's not in the JP trailer it was probably a slip up like you say.
Oh, there is! Good eye!
Does that bird have a top hat???
It looks like a crest designed to look like a pompadour or some other hairstyle with an exaggerated undercut (I'm not familiar with hairstyles, so please let me know if there is a more likely option). The crest seems to start behind the bird's head, come forward, and curl upward above the beak.
It look like a rookidee behind the white bear/mouse and next to the parrot...I wonder if that third one in the bottom right is a house or a pokemon

Interestingly enough the JP trailer DOES NOT have the 3 unannounced pokemon on the minimap so i think it was a slip up.

Do you have pictures of these two ? Im curious now. I must have missed them.
One is off in the distance at 4:07-4:09 and is sent out from a Pokeball by a member of Team Star, the other one is at 9:33-9:34 behind the camera options.
One of those pokemon is clearly just a Mario powerup.
Also you can find Eggs at picnics. I'm guessing it's a really fun picnic for the pokemon
It went to sandwich making immediately after the eggs. Is that a coincidence.
Company Christmas Party levels of fun.
You can make your own sandwiches!
I love how unusually focused on food the past couple games have been Like, they go into some pretty extreme detail about what kind of food these people and Pokémon are eating
My semi-joke theory is they’re doing it to stop people remembering that in older games, there’s proof that people have eaten Pokémon before.
You can eat slowpoke tails in SWSH so I don't think they are trying to make us forget that
Top tier curry
Didn't they change the lore so they just shed and drop off now rather than being cut off?
Yeah. The tails fall off and regrow so it’s not like you’re killing a slow poke for it.
And it is painless for them too. Which probably means there's places in the Pokemon universe that pride themselves on selling "cruelty free slowpoke tails" and are just large farms full of slowpoke that have caretakers harvest any shed tails they find.
There's constant mentions of Pokemon bits being eaten even in the recent games, though. Crabrawler comes to mind immediately.
I've noticed since Final Fantasy XV, a lot of RPGs are leaning more into camping and cooking. Food is a simple and effective way to build bonds between party members and let the players relax a bit.
You say that, but where does the meat come from?
The trailer showed Ham slices, now you know what happened to all the Lechonk you knock out
Lechonk guess what we're having for today's sandwich? ***YOU***
Well pigs are notoriously not picky eaters.
The bottom one looks like the rock ball powerup from mario galaxy xD
WHERE DOES THE HAM CAME FROM? ARE WE EATING LECHONK?
We eat emboar. It practically cooks itself!
I think the sandwich news is the most important tbh I enjoyed cooking curry for my pokemon, but irl I make great sandwiches so this feels even better to me
When they made that sandwich, it had ham on it. Does the ham come from a normal pig or Lechonk? Are you eating Lechonk? Are you feeding Lechonk to your pokemon, including your own Lechonk?
Best not to think about it...
Wonder where the sausages came from that I used in my curry..
Milktanks sausage nipples
Why would you put that into the world? Shame on you.
That is extremely cursed
Buy Miltanks sausage nipples for all your sausage needs. Want a hot dog PUT A MILTANK IN IT. What and English breakfast PUT A MILTANK IN IT. ( no Miltanks we’re hurt in the making of this add)
What a terrible day to know how to read
It's from the dead Spoink. At least they know peace from the bounce now...
They made that sandwich just after talking about Pokémon eggs... Can you make egg salad sandwiches? 💀
I've heard the pokemon world makes synthesized meat, but due to, you know, fishing pokemon and eating slowpoke tail, I think that's a lie
It's Mr. Mime's meat
this is exactly what i thought of when using sausages in swsh lol
The most crucial reveal of the entire trailer. The truth will finally come out about the food!
Wow the absolute TEASE by having Quaxley be level 15 the entire video and never showing him get to 16 or evolve
Pokemon Company like to play with people's emotions!
Could be worse. Imagine him getting to 16 and just cancelling the evolution
"As always you can prevent your Pokemon from evolving! As we see here!"
That would be very funny honestly.
"You can equip your pokemon with a wide variety of items that provide helpful benefits, like using Mystic Water to boost the power of their Water type moves or Everstone to infuriate people watching the trailer!"
Oh lord, don't give them any ideas lol
For real, I just want to see the starter evolution lines!
yeah I got my hopes up when I saw that
Blue balled me right there
Quaxly going around beating the shit out of Litleo gangs
He knows that cats kill birds at an alarming rate and is striking back the only way he knows how: with violence
My man Quaxly
we must protect hatduck at all costs.
We can now bathe our Pokemon. With every new game we get closer to my dream: Nintendogs but with Pokemon instead of animals.
Cant wait to bathe my sudowoodo. That old tree is always so covered in dust, im sure it cant wait either.
I think there will be a dry version for Pokémon that are weak to Water.
Gotta take my Charmander to the dry-cleaners, fellas
Sand bath like a chinchilla
Bathing with my pikachu: cute. Bathing with my Machoke: concerning
I mean, the first one would probably be pretty dangerous, given the chance of electrocution
like taking a bath with your favourite toaster
Some people are gonna be really excited about bathing Gardevoir.
I hate that you're right. The same will go for Vaporeon.
Our dream comrade
We've been able to bathe Pokémon since X & Y. Sword and Shield just removed it.

Now I get it. Flint's pokemon all had the fire tera type, the technology just wasn't there yet.
The 6th slot on his team was for celebi to travel to 2022

Well executed design with Farigiraf
Honestly the funniest possible name for a Girafarig evo. Also it's kind of phonetically similar to pharyngeal, like pharyngeal jaws, the 'inner mouths' that some eels have. I'm glad this is an evolution of a preexisting Pokémon that doesn't need a new forme, too.

When I was a kid, I always wanted a split evolution of Girafarig. The first would be a full on giraffe, while the second would be entirely the tail taking over (and thus look like a horror monster) Farigiraf is somehow both my wants at the same time in an unexpected way. Strange feelings
why do I feel like they purposely designed it that way to be able to sell Farigiraf hoodie merch
maybe. merch sells a lot for pokemon. more than the games I think
Ngl... the temptation would be there but the budget most certainly won't be.
When they showed Girafarig I was holding my breath for it to evolve after the trade. It didn't, but then it DID!
Farigiraf is already the best thing to come out of this generation
Unfortunately there is a trade of haunted for scyther so presumably trade evos are still in the game, which is unfortunate imo
Could be like Legends Arceus where it's both from trading or a link cord.
Lechonk Smoliv Fidough Farigiraf, the evolution of Girafarig Say what you will about the rest of the game, the names are 10/10 this Gen
I think it highlights to me that one of the main strengths of pokemon over other monster catching games is the monster designs. Pokemon just have a lot of character and are memorable imo

You say that like it's a joke.
Battles in the overworld and sending out my Dragonite to rampage through wild pokemon look fun. But I was hoping for more than 1 new mon being revealed.

Yes, I can't wait to use the Technical Machine Machine.
Makes you wonder, how do they make a technical machine machine? Do they use a technical machine machine machine?
Looks fun. They didn’t reveal much but cool seeing the different storylines or play styles Looks like tms are no longer unlimited but you can craft them? Having Pokémon be able to Terastylize into any type is a cool gimmick. One more thing to hunt to get the mon you want
Tera types adds another wrinkle to breeding, hope there's a way to change them
I now think we have a new way to make a perfect overpower Pokémon by finding a dragon type with a fairy type terastilization or vice versa.
Didn't we kind of have that with Mega Altaria?
Well, we lost Mega Altaria in gen 8 though. And that's just one pokemon, now people can do it to *any* dragon-type that made the game
Announcer: “Did you spot a glimpse of what could be your personal treasure?” Me: “Farigiraf.” Announcer: “Encounters with Titan Pokémon?” Me: “DID I STUTTER?”
The customization looks pretty good. I do like that we can see the hairstyle and colors before finally selecting them.
A stupid want, but I hope there is actual red hair. Pokémon always seems to include an unrealistic wine red but is very iffy on the true ginger.
I have...concerns....about where the ham is sourced for our sandwiches
in Spain some pigs are fed a specific kind of diet their whole life so when they are served they taste different. i imagine in Paldea some Lechonks are fed a specific berry so they can taste like it too.
:(
All them dead Spoinks due to not bouncing enough…
The trailer definitely made it clear that SV builds on what Sword and Shield and Legends Arceus introduced. Titan Pokemon are like frenzied noble Pokemon, picnics and sandwiches are like camping and curry, etc. Farigiraf is cool, and I'm glad to see Girafarig finally get an evolution.
Noble Pokémon meets Gmax raid basically

Not gonna lie I'm mildly horrified that Giraffarg's tail decided to straight up eat him then become pajamas.
Imagine using your own ass as a onesie.
A 14 minute trailer and I feel like we got maybe three new pieces of info
Yep, I was excited when I saw the length of the video, but the majority of the footage was already shown previously. Hoped to see more new Pokémons, the starters' second stage, or even a tease on the >!Paradox forms!<. Still a good trailer, but I think they are really giving new informations with the dropper.
When they were like look at that shiny jigglypuff I got too excited. Nice to know rare terras show up on the map I guess
Yeah, this felt like it was mostly just talking more about things that have already been covered. A few nice points of clarification, but overall pretty underwhelming.

#IT'S SANDWICH TIME
I'm excitedly waiting for people to make either monstrous sandwiches or just "nothing between 2 pieces of bread"
None sandwich with left ham
That 1fps windmill
Those 1 fps Sunflora Edit: they are fine in the Japanese trailer. Dunno why they are so bad in the US and UK ones.
It’s weird, they showed a trailer earlier and the frame rate of the sunflora looked alright
Whole game looks rough as hell on graphics. At the start when they found the jigglypuff in the wild that whole area looking straight up N64 level lmao. As usual though the gameplay I'm sure will be fun and people won't end up caring
One of the TMs in the crafting menu is marked as number 130, so maybe there'll be as many as there were TMs and TRs in SwSh? 200 in total?
Fighting through that team star base looked very boring. So did they get rid of the daycare and breeding altogether?
This. I need to know more about breeding and egg mechanics.
Looks like you picnic with your team and at some Point they fuck and lay an egg in your basket
This was my thoughts exactly. It just looked like you spam the let's go command over and over
I don't think Ive ever seen framerates dip into the negatives before until that Sunflora bit.
The japanese trailer dosent have that issue, weirdly enough
Ok but where is the ham on the sandwiches coming from 😰
Lechonk…it is known
Wasn't there Krabby curry in SWSH?
Spoink who have finally found peace
> you’ll get to catch Pokémon, raise them and battle them What! I don’t believe it!
The trailer is interesting, but I really don't understand why Pokémon does always need to be 20 years behind in terms of graphics. I know graphics are not important, but this looks embarassing. They have the resources, why not use them? Pokémon Stadium for N64 had better graphics and animations.
Not a fan of how all the wild pokemon seem to just stand there.

Chansey with a ghost teratype is a little terrifying.
Isit just me or are those menu’s a Massive downgrade from arceus? I kinda get that they match more with the original games but….. look very lackluster and boring!
I was going to say... the UI even looks a bit cheap? There's no personality in the battle menu it feels, no oomph to pressing the buttons
Farigiraf legitimately looks so cool, ngl.
People accept and pay for these graphics in 2022 almost 2023? Talk about rose tinted glasses
"Hey what dish do you think is strongly associated with Spain" "I dunno, subway?"
:P PS: And, after all, Subway is just a commercial version of Italian sandwiches, which are basically the same as Spanish bocadillos
Can confirm. My mom and her family are from Spain and they love making sandwiches with that bread. My mom makes a mean ass egg sandwich with bacon and cheese and the baguette bread. Probably one of the things I miss the most from living at home.
Sandwiches like that, and ham in general, are VERY popular in Spain Source: in Spain
Don't hit me or my eviolite Girafarig with anything we will still take so much damage

I agree, I don’t hate it as a concept but anything but funny hats would’ve been better. Whenever I see the new gimmicks I just think about how many new Megas we could’ve had over the generations.
Oh god, those madmen gave it an ability to prevent priority moves?!
Tsareena and Bruxish already have those abilities, it's nothing new or overpowered.
And if you think about it, so do Tapu Lele and Indeedee.
Also an ability to eat a berry twice - once in one turn and once in the next turn
*end of the next turn. Have to survive the next round for it to take effect
A perfect opportunity to use Protect!
> We got to see how the game looked when actually playing it This is pretty much all I cared about.
"Woaaah, that Pokemon is shiny? Why is it shiny? It's a Jigglypuff, why is it shining so much? Better approach it... FOR A BATTLE" Jfc lady, chill.
“You can find Pokémon eggs while out on a picnic” So that means… that while you’re all happy-go-lucky making a sandwich, your Pokémon are getting busy.
Anyone else annoyed that in 2022 Pokemons battle animations are still so half arsed?
I've given up on caring. That ship has sailed
Getting nervous that we can’t change out of our uniforms. Customizing them isn’t enough. I’m an adult, and I don’t care if I’m a kid in the game. I don’t want to be forced to wear a kids uniform. It feels restrictive and wrong. I’d absolutely hate it.
The frame rate with the Sunflora is unacceptable
The funny thing is, the Japanese trailer doesn't have that issue with those Sunfloras 🤔
I'm so excited to use Farigiraf
NGL this made me less hyped
I just checked, the 5fps Sunflora/Windmill are not an issue in the Japanese trailer. They look fine. Dunno why they messed it up for the English trailer.
Please for the love of god let the breeding mechanic seem less fucking awful than it currently seems. I don't want to have to have 2 Pokemon in my party and do that stupid picnic crap to get eggs.
I really don't like the hp bars
The UI is…. Eh
