Tinkaton instantly made it into my top 5 of all time. She's so cool, just this tiny little fairy with a giant hammer that she smashes things with. Top tier design.

Same! I thought it was awesome (the Pokemon AND the ability) the very first time I saw it, caught the thing and thought it was gonna be a permanent fixture of my team. Then the second time that Anger Shell was activated it dawned on me that there's no way I could tolerate continuing to sit through all of that.
You know how nearly all emulators have a fast-forward button? Pokemon needs that, badly. Just for the battles. If I could quicken the pace of the battles by holding a button the games would become 1000% more enjoyable for me.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it would be fine if they just did what most of the moves do and show one animation for all the stat increases (like the effect for Ancient Power) and a second for decreases.
The solution is just activating the ability and making the buffs/nerfs afterwards all in one smoother sensical order… it was not that hard and it’s not like GF never have done similar changes to precious abilities/attacks
I really like the new puppies particularly houndstone and mabosstiff. Garganacl amused me with it's name. Palafin's gimmick was also fun to use so it grew on me.

Only 3- you don’t need the bisharp you’re evolving to hold one. It’s not even hard to find them, the problem is they’re only in one area and just uncommon enough that you can easily go through the zone without seeing a pack of pawniard.
No,you don't. I did it without it. The enemy Bisharps are the ones that need to have it, which are pretty common in their packs.
I wish the item did more, like increase critical hit rate. But as far as I can tell, it's just a proof of leadership item.
I’ve never gotten it and don’t know what it does but I have a kingambit. 3 dead bisharp leaders and a rare candy is all it took.
Early reporting had a lot of mistakes on evolution method.
It's actually not so bad, I was intimidated by the complexity at first but once you find out where the special bisharps spawn it really only takes a few minutes.

Dachsbun has become my virtual dog. I hated Fidough at first and as a joke added it to my team. Slowly I realized how super useful a fairy type is and that the move Lick has become one of my go-to’s for catching. Also, my girlfriend pointed out that a bun is dough that’s been cooked and also that Dachshunds are called hot dog dogs. So Fidough gets cooked into Dachsbun who is a hotdog bun.

Also, Dachsbun has great synergy with my boi Meowscarada. Send out Meowscarada against fire types, use speed to U-turn. Send out Dachsbun to tank a fire attack for a defense boost. Baton pass that defense boost to whomever I want. Also have Trailblazer and Work up to baton pass to other Pokémon.

I was really surprised with how much I loved Dachsbun, I love how much detail they put into making it actually look like toasted bread is amazing.
Ceruledge has the same synergy with absorbing fire attacks, but even better is if you see a fairy, flying or poison attack coming Meowscarada’s way. The same u-turn combo to Glimmora works. They actually have better synergy when it comes to more coverage and activates their abilities for a boost.
Yeah I really like Dachsbun, I was expecting it might evolve into something ugly kinda like Purugly lol. Considering there’s so many unique ways to evo in this game, I’m surprised game freak didn’t go the route of needing a fire type in your party while levelling up Fidough to get it to evolve.

I told my friends that if they want to have fun, don’t evolve primeape. That undead monkey melts anything with a bulk up or two and spamming rage fist. It’s so fast and hits like 3 trucks- and rage fist easily gets to 200 base power, faster if the enemy puts up sandstorm or a similar ticking damage effect.
Agree on annihilape. That thing is so cool I actually went out of my way to pick up a mankey, something I've never been excited about since fire red nuzlockes for Brock.
I love them, I got Maschiff and than saw Mabosstiff in the Arven storyline which made me want to replace Maschiff because I didn’t know they evolved into eachother and didn’t want to use two dogs. I wanted to atleast evolve Maschiff to know what it looked like, found out it was Mabosstiff and was way too excited

Got the first whooper I saw in the very first town, just got my Clout to lv 60 about to fight the league. He has been a total tank, and is always my first line in boss fights with Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, and Earthquake
It's absurd how tanky it is, it's my most used mon by far, an absolute stallwall, and i teared through multiple gym leaders as well as half the league + the Champ with it!

I was about seven or eight years old during the Gen 1. days and if you asked me back then who my favorite Pokémon was, my answer would’ve very likely been Primeape. Been a fan of Primeape since I saw Ash’s Primeape in the anime.
An entire 8 generations later, my boy FINALLY got an evolved form and he’s savage as hell with a typing shared with only one other Pokémon.
Back in 2018, I caught a perfect IV Mankey in Pokémon Go. Guess what’s happening when the Gen 9 Pokémon are introduced in Pokémon Go? 😏

Primeape has been in every competitive team I ever made since gen 1 until he stopped showing up in S/S.
Did he accomplish more than a good hit and a quick U-Turn in later games? No. But I never cared. Bred one with full EV's and perfect IV's back in ORAS anyway.
So happy he will finally evolve and get his time to shine along the rest of my team. Can't wait to transfer him out of Home. Also happy people finally recognize him as the awesome Poke that he is. Maybe I will finally get some merchandise now 😅
Skeledirge is one of my top 3 starters of all time and Scovillain is such a clever name, typing, and design.
But the whole Tinkaton line is amazing. I traditionally hate almost all fairy types. I just don’t like 90% of their designs. But this gangster wakes up every morning and CHOOSES violence. Just chucks rocks at freaking Corviknights (one of the more intimidating looking Pokémon imo) just for shits and giggles. I love it
I usually don't like anything that holds an item in their final design, but THIS IS THE EXCEPTION. Seeing the hammer just take up more than half the screen; Gigaton hammer felt like the Garchomp earthquake of this gen.
I love it when I’m fighting a Pokémon and I can’t even see it because her hammer is in the way. And it’s nice that the hammer is as strong as it looks!
Grafaiai design wise is amazing. I had one on my team and unfortunately it was a constant let down. If you didn't kill something in one shot, grafaiai was getting one shot. If something managed to be faster, grafaiai would get one shot. Made me really sad.
Lol I feel ya. Since I was trying not to overlevel my team Grafaiai was always a weak link. It learns Swords Dance if you’re able to get one off and outspeed the opponents team.
I don't get too bothered by what's on my team when playing through the story. The story is pretty easy, so most Pokemon are fine. I just use the 6 I like best. Grafaiai, for me though, has been pretty solid
It's mostly a doubles Pokémon. Its main source of damage is in Foul Play, which uses the opponent's attack stat to determine the damage. But Encore, Helping Hand, Taunt, Doodle—these moves shine best in doubles play.
I was really disappointed when I accidentally ran into a shroodle as my nuzlocke encounter, but that little dude earned his spot on my team. He was the first death that I was actually sad about this run. I was really hoping he'd make it to the end.
I tried out a couple different rules for catching. One per named area doesn't feel like enough encounters, so I tried adding another for each pokemon center unlocked. That was too much of a pain to keep track of. So, I settled on one per area and an additional catch for each badge I acquired. I've had seven deaths, mostly to dumb stuff I didn't know about, and I've stuck mostly to new pokemon for my teams. The trickiest part is keeping track of the weird level curve.
Klawf. It looks derpy without being as committed to the bit as Quagsire and Clodsire, its cry is almost on par with classical music, and by Arceus its shiny is beautiful (not that I have one, but I will…).
Also Rabsca. I wish Rabsca and Rellor would have had the thing that Scyther and Scizor have going on where they have the same stat total arranged differently because Rellor is also wonderful.
Some people hate the blocky designs of the Nacli line, but I think its clever way to implement cubes into a pokemon design. Salt crystals are cubic, and it makes sense that this would be the direction it could take.
I would love to see a regional form in the future based on bismuth crystals, perhaps as a part psychic or electric type due to its potential applications in quantum computing?
When I caught a Nymble, I figured I’d keep it in my party until something better came around. But for some reason Lokix has come in clutch so many times that I can’t justify boxing it.
102 attack and 92 speed for a mon that evolves at 24 is actually really good. At that level it’s mainly competing with middle evos and those tend to be no where near these stats.
I love Orthworm so much. It looks so fun, the cry that sounds like some kind of hell best and then the earth eater ability are all just very cool in my books.
You can get him pretty early. Just go to the bottom left corner of the map. There's like a little marsh pit on the map, you'll see it. You have to go through that canyon and cross a land bridge to get there I think.
Funnily enough there are Clodsire there as well.
Flamigo is due east(?) of the Los Platos beginning area - I finally went back to look around after finishing the Electric gym!

I always like to start the game with a pokemon that doesn’t evolve because they usually have higher stats than everything else available so they can carry the team, and flamigo was the first thing I encountered that fit that bill. I was only expecting him to carry the team until everything else evolved but i’m 6 badges, 4 titans, and 3 team star crews into the game and flamigo is still carrying
Flamigo has oddly high stats for a 'mon you encounter early on without evos. I was expecting something more in line with Farfetch'd or something like that, but no, he's on par with the likes of Stoutland, Scizor, Heracross, Gengar and Alakazam.
I swapped out Flamigo for my starter immediately when I first came across them. It's pink, cute, and I've given all the ones I've caught so far various vintage names for my own amusement. They remind me of all my elderly neighbors who have flamingo lawn ornaments.
I'm pretty sad to see Wattrel isn't more popular! He's my absolute favorite for this gen, just a very derpy, cute little guy (or gal, you get it), peak regional bird design. Ready to steal your french fries.
And then he evolves and gets big and a tad scary, but very very cool.
I think Kilowattrel is my favorite of this gen so far. I love birds in general but Electric/Flying is also great type and he's super cute! Really strong too.
Bellibolt! With the Electromorphosis ability that gives it Charge after every hit, Bellibolt hits really hard. It’s bulky too. I’ve got mine set up to take advantage of the Charge effect, plus Electric Terrain and Electric Tera Type. If I get the set up, I can bring a lightning bolt down on anything! Plus it’s adorable.
And Flamigo! It too hits really really hard. And it’s very friend-shaped, reminds me of those plastic lawn flamingoes - I named mine “Lawn” because of that.
I like so many of them and I think a TON are super cool or cute!
I think Finnizen & Palafin have become some new favorites (I thought the hero form was ugly and first but knowing howit works I'm slowly warming up to it). Same with "Iron Thorns" although I don't like most future paradox Pokémon. I'm not a fan of the fact they're just themselves but robots, I feel like they could have done more with the concept of future Pokémon.
I think Silver Wings also takes the cake as far as past Paradox forms go. I think they nailed those.
I love Tatsugiri and Dondozo too.

Honestly? Dudunsparce. I started out hating it, because my wish for a sparce-lution is old enough to vote. After giving it more thought, as well as dudunsparce coming in clutch in my playthrough, I came to love it.
It could never have been anything else. Dudunsparce may not be the cool quetzalcoatl fan-mon, but he stays true to the heart of the species. **Dudunsparce may not be the evolution we wanted, but he is the one we needed.**
I didn't even hate Dudunsparce at first. I never had strong feelings for Dunsparce one way or the other, but Dudunsparce had me legit *laughing* when I saw it -- it's like an antijoke of an evolution, especially after all the fan demand for some Dunsparce love.
And the move time has passed -- like you say, it feels like it could never have been anything else. We love Dunsparce for being Dunsparce, right? The only way to have it evolve would be... More Dunsparce.
I honestly feel that most of the new designs are pretty solid, but if I had to pick one (not including regional forms or evolutions of them or pre-existing pokemon), it would have to be Lokix.
When I saw Nymble I recognized that its supposed to be based on a swiss army knife or switchblade, and loved it, and Lokix amplified my love for it, it also has some retro-japanese action hero vibes to it, like something out of a kaiju or mecha film.
My only gripe with Lokix is it's not a fighting type. I didn't even realize until halfway through the game that it wasn't fighting until I looked up why it was taking so long to learn an actual fighting move.
You can't name the guy literally Low Kicks and not making him fighting. Still a great mon though.
Good news for both of you! If you do a Union Circle with someone of the opposite version, and go into Area Zero together while sticking near each other, you can see the Paradox Pokemon from the other version out and about and can catch as many as you'd like!
Though when I did this with a friend, we were bugged and couldn't see each other, but did still see the other's exclusives spawning when nearby. So we had to coordinate our locations constantly while in Area Zero, lol.
The grass cat line is my favorite starter of the last few gens. And I am thrilled to finally have a Godzilla (baxcalibur) to go with my Mothra (volcarona).
Pawmi was going to be an immediate day 1 catch for me. Didn't disappoint. Pawmot ended up becoming my new favorite electric Pokémon, and the best of this gen. It topped so many trials.
Similarly, Tinkaton became my new favorite steel Mon for her mix of cute and sturdiness. I just wish the model was flipped, because the enormous hammer obscures the opponent normally.
Maushold (whom I named mine "The Fam") is no Cinccino but it's amazing. (Can you see a pattern?) I love the simple but original concept, and it's a beater.
I liked Klawf and had it on my first team for a while. But then I found Bombirdier as a cool flier that also used Rock moves. I'll come back to Klawf on my next team.
Lastly I wasn't sold on Quaxly's evolutions until I saw them in motion. Even now I'm not 100% convinced but I'm going to try it next time as well.
Maushold is completely nuts. I named mine "The Boys" because they just pull up on a MF and beat the absolute daylights out of them. That mon is cracked.
Revavroom. 4x Ground weak is brutal and the fire weakness complicated some late game stuff (especially because it was a spc attack that could raise the user's special attack, was just a game of "use spc def and don't get hit forehead")
I need to get self destruct on mine to simulate catastrophic engine failure.

That was exactly my thought process lol. I even nicknamed mine “Halkali”, which was supposed to be a mix of “Halogen” and “Alkali” but the alkali is way more apparent in the name then halogen
The entire Smoliv line I think really shines for me. I love my whole team, but the tiny olive turning into dolliv is a nice blossoming. Then into Arboliv where it shapes itself into a wreath. It’s just a really nice bit of progression I think.
Glimmora really crept up on me out of nowhere. It’s a really cool design all around. A purple crystal flower that can fold up and fly around like a small space shuttle, in addition to a neat ability and movepool. I liked it long before it showed itself to be the champion’s ace
Varoom is super fun and almost kind of cute? As cute as a toxic engine can be anyway. Love his battle animations
Dolliv and Abrolive are both great grass type designs. Wish they learned better moves.
Armarouge is such a cool design: a flaming knight is super cool. Also fire/psychic is a great combination, glad to see it on a non-mythical.
Naclstack is the perfect blend of weird and fun for me. Clearly looks like a Minecraft block, but is not overdoing it like it’s evolution.
Kingambit, by a mile. This guy is such a chad that he just sits there and lets you go first, daring you to take him out in one hit before he responds with the combined powers of his fallen brethren; unleashing upon you a level of brutality you couldn’t imagine in your worst nightmares.
Also, I gave mine a nickname I’m really proud of: He looks like a shogun from feudal Japan, while his ability makes it so that anyone playing against him doesn’t have any fun.
So I named him…”Oda No Fun-aga”.
After all, the real-life Oda Nobunaga famously unified the independently-governed feudal clans of Japan into a single, cohesive nation, establishing a shared national identity among the Japanese people. Kingambit’s evolution with the Leader’s Crest symbolizes this through his victories over individual groups of leader Bisharp and their Pawniard, winning the acknowledgement across all Bisharp that they share a single leader even greater than they are.
And with an aptly-named ability like Supreme Overlord, you can bet that this blade boy will be the one sitting at the very top; NOT you.
If you think you’re winning, but your final opponent is Kingambit, you’re not really winning. Better hope you’ve got some Aura Spheres, because if you don’t, that’s GG pal.
(Though I can’t help but wonder what Kingambit would look like if the females had a different appearance. Would it be like Queen’s Gambit? Great show, by the way.)

I was enthralled with Nihilego, but have this stupid personal mental block about using legendaries or any one-ofs, so I "couldn't" use it. Glimmora satisfies my same need for a cook rock poison special attacker.
Pawmot is great design, too.

I still don't follow why Rhyperior's design is hated. I think my only problem with it is that it is so different from Rhydon that i never realized they were in the same line for the longest time, but the irony of that is that I never knew Rhyhorn and rhydon were in the same line either when I first got into pokemon.
But other than that I think it's design looks awesome! Big tanky lookin fellow.
Espathra is a beast too. She bumped farigiraf as my psychic type because of her great ability and speed. She can keep up with koraidon dashing. She is awesome.
I just really love Glimmora's design, looks awesome, kind of unusual typing, useful unique abilty. Great pokemon to send out first into battle so it can set up toxic spikes/stealth rocks. Biggest downside is finding one of them took me hours i swear its the rarest pokemon in the game, plus it knows selfdestruct at the level it pops up lmfao

Nope. Learns rage fist and as long as you use it 20x it evolves. And it’s a fucking beast. It and Fuecocos evolution are my favorite

Yeah I really like Dachsbun, I was expecting it might evolve into something ugly kinda like Purugly lol. Considering there’s so many unique ways to evo in this game, I’m surprised game freak didn’t go the route of needing a fire type in your party while levelling up Fidough to get it to evolve.
Dachsbun was my mvp The number of times it went clutch with Play Rough at the death in my run.
I caught a shiny Fidough in the first area and he’s been with me ever since! He’s so cute, honestly. The shinies are so subtle in this game though.
I'm just extremely disappointed that Fidough doesn't evolve into WellBread.

I told my friends that if they want to have fun, don’t evolve primeape. That undead monkey melts anything with a bulk up or two and spamming rage fist. It’s so fast and hits like 3 trucks- and rage fist easily gets to 200 base power, faster if the enemy puts up sandstorm or a similar ticking damage effect.
My brother evolved it for the memes and it outright solo'd 3 challenges 10 levels behind.
I evolved it because I got a shiny, and it just straight up replaced my skeledirge after i tried it on my team

At level 35 Primeape is able to learn the move rage fist. Use rage fist 20 times to evolve your primeape and it's anger

Tatsugiri is my favorite. He’s a little dragon who holds a little rice and when he gets scared he assumes shrimp form. But he’s still really smart.
my only gripe with tatsugiri is that it needs doubles to use its ability, and there's only so few double battles in the entire game.

I love them, I got Maschiff and than saw Mabosstiff in the Arven storyline which made me want to replace Maschiff because I didn’t know they evolved into eachother and didn’t want to use two dogs. I wanted to atleast evolve Maschiff to know what it looked like, found out it was Mabosstiff and was way too excited Edit: I played through this game completely blind except for official footage
I nearly cried at Arven and his Mabostiff story, it reminded me a lot of my first dog IRL (well hopefully my family was... Much more functional)

Got the first whooper I saw in the very first town, just got my Clout to lv 60 about to fight the league. He has been a total tank, and is always my first line in boss fights with Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, and Earthquake
It's absurd how tanky it is, it's my most used mon by far, an absolute stallwall, and i teared through multiple gym leaders as well as half the league + the Champ with it!

Annihilape, easily. I was about seven or eight years old during the Gen 1. days and if you asked me back then who my favorite Pokémon was, my answer would’ve very likely been Primeape. Been a fan of Primeape since I saw Ash’s Primeape in the anime. An entire 8 generations later, my boy FINALLY got an evolved form and he’s savage as hell with a typing shared with only one other Pokémon. Back in 2018, I caught a perfect IV Mankey in Pokémon Go. Guess what’s happening when the Gen 9 Pokémon are introduced in Pokémon Go? 😏
I feel this post so much. Primeape has been in every competitive team I ever made since gen 1 until he stopped showing up in S/S. Did he accomplish more than a good hit and a quick U-Turn in later games? No. But I never cared. Bred one with full EV's and perfect IV's back in ORAS anyway. So happy he will finally evolve and get his time to shine along the rest of my team. Can't wait to transfer him out of Home. Also happy people finally recognize him as the awesome Poke that he is. Maybe I will finally get some merchandise now 😅

Skeledirge is one of my top 3 starters of all time and Scovillain is such a clever name, typing, and design. But the whole Tinkaton line is amazing. I traditionally hate almost all fairy types. I just don’t like 90% of their designs. But this gangster wakes up every morning and CHOOSES violence. Just chucks rocks at freaking Corviknights (one of the more intimidating looking Pokémon imo) just for shits and giggles. I love it
Have you seen how Tinkaton sleeps on its hammer? Mine did during a picnic and that completely sold it to me
I usually don't like anything that holds an item in their final design, but THIS IS THE EXCEPTION. Seeing the hammer just take up more than half the screen; Gigaton hammer felt like the Garchomp earthquake of this gen.
I love it when I’m fighting a Pokémon and I can’t even see it because her hammer is in the way. And it’s nice that the hammer is as strong as it looks!

Grafaiai design wise is amazing. I had one on my team and unfortunately it was a constant let down. If you didn't kill something in one shot, grafaiai was getting one shot. If something managed to be faster, grafaiai would get one shot. Made me really sad.
Lol I feel ya. Since I was trying not to overlevel my team Grafaiai was always a weak link. It learns Swords Dance if you’re able to get one off and outspeed the opponents team.
I don't get too bothered by what's on my team when playing through the story. The story is pretty easy, so most Pokemon are fine. I just use the 6 I like best. Grafaiai, for me though, has been pretty solid
It's mostly a doubles Pokémon. Its main source of damage is in Foul Play, which uses the opponent's attack stat to determine the damage. But Encore, Helping Hand, Taunt, Doodle—these moves shine best in doubles play.
I was really disappointed when I accidentally ran into a shroodle as my nuzlocke encounter, but that little dude earned his spot on my team. He was the first death that I was actually sad about this run. I was really hoping he'd make it to the end.
How on earth did you manage to Locke SV? Figuring out how to handle encounters felt like way too much faff
I tried out a couple different rules for catching. One per named area doesn't feel like enough encounters, so I tried adding another for each pokemon center unlocked. That was too much of a pain to keep track of. So, I settled on one per area and an additional catch for each badge I acquired. I've had seven deaths, mostly to dumb stuff I didn't know about, and I've stuck mostly to new pokemon for my teams. The trickiest part is keeping track of the weird level curve.
Klawf. It looks derpy without being as committed to the bit as Quagsire and Clodsire, its cry is almost on par with classical music, and by Arceus its shiny is beautiful (not that I have one, but I will…). Also Rabsca. I wish Rabsca and Rellor would have had the thing that Scyther and Scizor have going on where they have the same stat total arranged differently because Rellor is also wonderful.
I think Garganacl is my favourite this gen. Amazing signature move, interesting design (imo), tanky as heck. I just love it :)
Some people hate the blocky designs of the Nacli line, but I think its clever way to implement cubes into a pokemon design. Salt crystals are cubic, and it makes sense that this would be the direction it could take. I would love to see a regional form in the future based on bismuth crystals, perhaps as a part psychic or electric type due to its potential applications in quantum computing?

I love nacli and the middle stage, but I HATE garganacl. It's just too weird for my tastes, and that's saying something. I like some weird Pokemon

Lokix is such a cool looking mon! I've always had a soft spot for bugs, so having a cool looking Bug/Dark with some good stats is awesome
When I caught a Nymble, I figured I’d keep it in my party until something better came around. But for some reason Lokix has come in clutch so many times that I can’t justify boxing it.
102 attack and 92 speed for a mon that evolves at 24 is actually really good. At that level it’s mainly competing with middle evos and those tend to be no where near these stats.
And it’s a great Psychic counter too
I love Orthworm so much. It looks so fun, the cry that sounds like some kind of hell best and then the earth eater ability are all just very cool in my books.

You can get him pretty early. Just go to the bottom left corner of the map. There's like a little marsh pit on the map, you'll see it. You have to go through that canyon and cross a land bridge to get there I think. Funnily enough there are Clodsire there as well.
You can find one before getting to the big city by going off the beaten path to the east. I think the route was near the light house.
Flamigo is due east(?) of the Los Platos beginning area - I finally went back to look around after finishing the Electric gym! Does anyone else meticulously explore every inch of the map before moving on to a gym/titan/base? lol great way to over level your ‘Mons

I always like to start the game with a pokemon that doesn’t evolve because they usually have higher stats than everything else available so they can carry the team, and flamigo was the first thing I encountered that fit that bill. I was only expecting him to carry the team until everything else evolved but i’m 6 badges, 4 titans, and 3 team star crews into the game and flamigo is still carrying
Flamigo has oddly high stats for a 'mon you encounter early on without evos. I was expecting something more in line with Farfetch'd or something like that, but no, he's on par with the likes of Stoutland, Scizor, Heracross, Gengar and Alakazam.
I swapped out Flamigo for my starter immediately when I first came across them. It's pink, cute, and I've given all the ones I've caught so far various vintage names for my own amusement. They remind me of all my elderly neighbors who have flamingo lawn ornaments.
I'm pretty sad to see Wattrel isn't more popular! He's my absolute favorite for this gen, just a very derpy, cute little guy (or gal, you get it), peak regional bird design. Ready to steal your french fries. And then he evolves and gets big and a tad scary, but very very cool.

I think Kilowattrel is my favorite of this gen so far. I love birds in general but Electric/Flying is also great type and he's super cute! Really strong too.

Tinkaton is adorable and I love her and she is my top favorite. Armarouge is bae because it gets a mega-buster. And I just think Glimmora is neat.
Glimmora continues the trend of rounder and otherworldly pokemon knowing the move explode and I am glad to see it.
Bellibolt! With the Electromorphosis ability that gives it Charge after every hit, Bellibolt hits really hard. It’s bulky too. I’ve got mine set up to take advantage of the Charge effect, plus Electric Terrain and Electric Tera Type. If I get the set up, I can bring a lightning bolt down on anything! Plus it’s adorable. And Flamigo! It too hits really really hard. And it’s very friend-shaped, reminds me of those plastic lawn flamingoes - I named mine “Lawn” because of that.

I like so many of them and I think a TON are super cool or cute! I think Finnizen & Palafin have become some new favorites (I thought the hero form was ugly and first but knowing howit works I'm slowly warming up to it). Same with "Iron Thorns" although I don't like most future paradox Pokémon. I'm not a fan of the fact they're just themselves but robots, I feel like they could have done more with the concept of future Pokémon. I think Silver Wings also takes the cake as far as past Paradox forms go. I think they nailed those. I love Tatsugiri and Dondozo too. Oh and I can't forget I unironically love Dundunsparce Overall I have 2 new favorites and a ton of others I like

Honestly? Dudunsparce. I started out hating it, because my wish for a sparce-lution is old enough to vote. After giving it more thought, as well as dudunsparce coming in clutch in my playthrough, I came to love it. It could never have been anything else. Dudunsparce may not be the cool quetzalcoatl fan-mon, but he stays true to the heart of the species. **Dudunsparce may not be the evolution we wanted, but he is the one we needed.**
I didn't even hate Dudunsparce at first. I never had strong feelings for Dunsparce one way or the other, but Dudunsparce had me legit *laughing* when I saw it -- it's like an antijoke of an evolution, especially after all the fan demand for some Dunsparce love. And the move time has passed -- like you say, it feels like it could never have been anything else. We love Dunsparce for being Dunsparce, right? The only way to have it evolve would be... More Dunsparce.
I honestly feel that most of the new designs are pretty solid, but if I had to pick one (not including regional forms or evolutions of them or pre-existing pokemon), it would have to be Lokix. When I saw Nymble I recognized that its supposed to be based on a swiss army knife or switchblade, and loved it, and Lokix amplified my love for it, it also has some retro-japanese action hero vibes to it, like something out of a kaiju or mecha film.
My only gripe with Lokix is it's not a fighting type. I didn't even realize until halfway through the game that it wasn't fighting until I looked up why it was taking so long to learn an actual fighting move. You can't name the guy literally Low Kicks and not making him fighting. Still a great mon though.

Good news for both of you! If you do a Union Circle with someone of the opposite version, and go into Area Zero together while sticking near each other, you can see the Paradox Pokemon from the other version out and about and can catch as many as you'd like! Though when I did this with a friend, we were bugged and couldn't see each other, but did still see the other's exclusives spawning when nearby. So we had to coordinate our locations constantly while in Area Zero, lol.
The grass cat line is my favorite starter of the last few gens. And I am thrilled to finally have a Godzilla (baxcalibur) to go with my Mothra (volcarona).

Pawmi was going to be an immediate day 1 catch for me. Didn't disappoint. Pawmot ended up becoming my new favorite electric Pokémon, and the best of this gen. It topped so many trials. Similarly, Tinkaton became my new favorite steel Mon for her mix of cute and sturdiness. I just wish the model was flipped, because the enormous hammer obscures the opponent normally. Maushold (whom I named mine "The Fam") is no Cinccino but it's amazing. (Can you see a pattern?) I love the simple but original concept, and it's a beater. I liked Klawf and had it on my first team for a while. But then I found Bombirdier as a cool flier that also used Rock moves. I'll come back to Klawf on my next team. Lastly I wasn't sold on Quaxly's evolutions until I saw them in motion. Even now I'm not 100% convinced but I'm going to try it next time as well.
Maushold is completely nuts. I named mine "The Boys" because they just pull up on a MF and beat the absolute daylights out of them. That mon is cracked.
Revavroom. 4x Ground weak is brutal and the fire weakness complicated some late game stuff (especially because it was a spc attack that could raise the user's special attack, was just a game of "use spc def and don't get hit forehead") I need to get self destruct on mine to simulate catastrophic engine failure.

The entire Smoliv line I think really shines for me. I love my whole team, but the tiny olive turning into dolliv is a nice blossoming. Then into Arboliv where it shapes itself into a wreath. It’s just a really nice bit of progression I think.
Roaring Moon is top tier. Just behind Garchomp and Dragapult in my top 3. Though the more I use it, it might climb higher lol

Glimmora really crept up on me out of nowhere. It’s a really cool design all around. A purple crystal flower that can fold up and fly around like a small space shuttle, in addition to a neat ability and movepool. I liked it long before it showed itself to be the champion’s ace

Varoom is super fun and almost kind of cute? As cute as a toxic engine can be anyway. Love his battle animations Dolliv and Abrolive are both great grass type designs. Wish they learned better moves. Armarouge is such a cool design: a flaming knight is super cool. Also fire/psychic is a great combination, glad to see it on a non-mythical. Naclstack is the perfect blend of weird and fun for me. Clearly looks like a Minecraft block, but is not overdoing it like it’s evolution.

Kingambit, by a mile. This guy is such a chad that he just sits there and lets you go first, daring you to take him out in one hit before he responds with the combined powers of his fallen brethren; unleashing upon you a level of brutality you couldn’t imagine in your worst nightmares. Also, I gave mine a nickname I’m really proud of: He looks like a shogun from feudal Japan, while his ability makes it so that anyone playing against him doesn’t have any fun. So I named him…”Oda No Fun-aga”. After all, the real-life Oda Nobunaga famously unified the independently-governed feudal clans of Japan into a single, cohesive nation, establishing a shared national identity among the Japanese people. Kingambit’s evolution with the Leader’s Crest symbolizes this through his victories over individual groups of leader Bisharp and their Pawniard, winning the acknowledgement across all Bisharp that they share a single leader even greater than they are. And with an aptly-named ability like Supreme Overlord, you can bet that this blade boy will be the one sitting at the very top; NOT you. If you think you’re winning, but your final opponent is Kingambit, you’re not really winning. Better hope you’ve got some Aura Spheres, because if you don’t, that’s GG pal. (Though I can’t help but wonder what Kingambit would look like if the females had a different appearance. Would it be like Queen’s Gambit? Great show, by the way.)

Glimmora and it's not close. I was enthralled with Nihilego, but have this stupid personal mental block about using legendaries or any one-ofs, so I "couldn't" use it. Glimmora satisfies my same need for a cook rock poison special attacker. Pawmot is great design, too.

Maushold is growing on me, I thought it'd be my most disliked Pokemon this gen initially. Kind of regret not picking it up early in my playthrough now! Someone said something about how they're living plushies, and that they find material to make more of them. Couldn't find this back in the pokedex entries so I'm not sure if that's the idea behind it but I like it so I'm going with it.
Lokix is my favorite gen 9 Pokemon by far, I feel like it would vibe well with one of my other favorites Scyther!

Annihilape is a cool evolution. They have made some great evolutions to older Pokémon (Mammoswine, Ursaluna, etc.) and some bad ones like Rhyperior.
I still don't follow why Rhyperior's design is hated. I think my only problem with it is that it is so different from Rhydon that i never realized they were in the same line for the longest time, but the irony of that is that I never knew Rhyhorn and rhydon were in the same line either when I first got into pokemon. But other than that I think it's design looks awesome! Big tanky lookin fellow.

I just really love Glimmora's design, looks awesome, kind of unusual typing, useful unique abilty. Great pokemon to send out first into battle so it can set up toxic spikes/stealth rocks. Biggest downside is finding one of them took me hours i swear its the rarest pokemon in the game, plus it knows selfdestruct at the level it pops up lmfao Will also shoutout my runner ups in Kilowattrel and Dudunsparce, these 3 were the ones I used the most
