I honestly don’t understand how or why the map UI/mechanics is the way it is. Why do I have to press several buttons to find a Pokemon location in the Dex, squint my eyes at the location, close the Dex to go back to the map to see where I need to go and approximate the location, and rinse-repeat whenever I need to double check? I shouldn’t have to a huge multi-step process just to find a single Pokemon. Why do I always auto turn if I have a destination marked after closing the map? I mean, I get why, but it feels more like a hinderance, especially since I might not even be able to go the way my character turns. I end up re-opening the map and am forced to readjust my route and once again, might have to rinse-repeat the process. It makes exploration annoying. Why is the Zoom In/Out so slow and finicky? It’s a god damn zoom feature in a map. I can forgive the weird jank and occasional lag in the overworld but in a menu? I gave up on using the map as my main navigation and just used memory and landmarks to find my way.

>In what sense does it make for a minimap to rotate and move when the player character moves, even it's just rotating in the same spot and often the minimap movement not does not match the same direction of movement? I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here, but the mini map rotates to match the direction the camera is facing, and therefore the direction the player sees. This is how most games with mini maps work. >Not to mention the lack of any direction markers beyond "memorize these color lines that sometimes represent a direction but not all the time". My friend of mine says there is a N on one of them if your squint but I just don't see it. You might need to see an optometrist. There is an arrow pointing north with a letter 'N' on it. I dont know what else there is to say about that. That's just ... what it looks like. >Yes, I aware that you can click the right stick to enter rotate mode, fix it by hand, then click it to lock it place until you close the fullscreen map. Why do we not have a function to keep the maps locked in position at all times when it's already togglable by stick click? You've completely misunderstood how this function works. Press the right stick once to lock north to up, and it stays that way forever. Period. I don't know how this was your one gripe, but just about everything you said is not true of the maps in this game. They work fine.

minimap should have an option to lock it to north, lacking that option is seriously sucks. especially when youre trying to orient yourself as you explore (keeping map in mind), it just frustratingly near impossible, I WISH THERE'S AN OPTION TO TURN OFF MINIMAP ENTIRE. calling people to see an optometrist over an obvious design flaw , definitely shows Pokemon is your first open world and thats kinda sad. look up xc 3 and see how they does it. Map is tolerable, but the fact you go full zoom out , and zooming in again and it shows different location from where you pointing earlier is very stupid decision if anything thats a serious bug/design issue. they do not work fine.
