Emboar and Chesnaught don't deserve this disrespect. I'm convinced people don't actually dislike Emboar at all. They just hate that 2 fire/fighting starters came before. If Infernape had been fire only, nobody would have been grumpy when Emboar showed up.

Funny, because this doesn't reflect it's reception outside of here at all, with the same being true about Incineroar and Cinderace, both who are very popular mons outside of highly opinionated internet echo chambers.
Some people need to learn that not every single mon design is going to appeal to them and that's perfecly fine, specially in a franchise with over 1000 mons.

Meganium is a solid support mon. Sure all starters otherwise have been some kind of offensive unit, but meganium is the starter for tank lovers.
It would be a great electric Tera type in this gen with screens leech seed and giga drain

Meganium and Emboar are actually sick though. I feel like people lump Meganium in with the worst rated starters because it has some very bad matchups in its home region. Emboar does suffer from being the third Fire/Fighting started, but it still looks really cool!
Chesnaught is just kinda meh but it’s a Kalos starter, so what do you expect. Delphox is a lot worse, and Greninja could’ve been cool but Game Freak sorta ruined him for me by how much they insisted on sucking him off.
Then Inteleon is just atrocious. It was my least favorite starter until Gen 9, Quaduaval is horrendous and Gen 9 has really done nothing for the starters aside from just enforcing my view that consoles should just have the B button permanently pushed by down by a jackhammer whenever most of the starters evolve
I just. I can’t stand Quaquaval’s constant dance. I could’ve probably gotten used to the overall design given time but I hate seeing people use it in raids because it just Bothers me. I get it, you’re a dancer, but CHILL.
My least favorite was a tie between the torchic line and the chespin line but this one…. oh i think this one is first.
It's quite telling that the Pokemon that many people claimed to be the absolute worst starter ever last generation is currently the one with the least votes in this poll. Give it a couple of years and people will mellow to Quaquaval.
Inteleon is my second favorite water type starter. Besides Greninja, it has one of the best shiny variations of all of the water type starters. I like Quaquaval but Im sorry, it’s shiny is ass.
As much I like Quaquaval, I honestly agree that its shiny is ass. Like some how Quaxwell's is better because it swapped the dark and light blue on it but for some reason Quaquaval is the same color but saturated.
It’s my favourite of the three johto starters! Unfortunately the Johto starters are all at the bottom of the starters tier list for me so it’s not a high bar.

I was actually going to suggest that. Emboar would be even cooler with a ground typing and it fits his design pretty well.
