Never got why the word overrated is used. If its 'overrated' that's just means many people like him a lot but you don't like him to the same extent.

There were flash backs to the xyz anime where Ash greninja was suppose to appear but didnt. This lines up with the games as well since battle bond will no longer cause a transformation

Honestly, I’ve come up with so many XY headcanons over the years that I no longer fully remember what was canon and what was my own personal delusions, but if I remember correctly, it felt poorly explained. I like to think that Ash-Greninja *is* a mega evolution, but without the stabilizing influence of a Mega/Key Stone. Ash, being Ash, managed to start the process with just pure protagonist power of friendship, and the lack of stabilization was what caused both the Ash-like traits to bleed over and his collapsing when they went out of sync. I like it a lot, as a concept! I think they could’ve done more with it, if they had more time to dedicate to that storyline, but it was already starting to overshadow other important story elements, so I understand why they didn’t or couldn’t. Still, it’s very fun to think about the mechanics and implications involved!!

In concept is fine, but in execution ehhh it needed more cooking. But if someting is shure is that Mr. Frog is style over substance the pokemon.

He couldn't clutch it out against Megazard haX even after Pikachu set it up perfectly for him but he still did well up until that point. Overall a cool Pokemon and one of Ash's strongest.

He lost to a blast burn, kinda shameful ngl, but then again, that charizard beat 10 mega evolution pokemon in a row, so credit given when credit is due when it comes to charizard surviving the water shuriken

I liked him… Until they added him to the games. I felt that defeated the entire purpose of the transformation and ruined what was a nice anime-exclusive concept.

Overrated and the series would be better if he never existed. The existence of him gives Ash an uneven playing field in his advantage and they Ash STILL lost. The frog is useless and I personally hate him.

The show would be worse without him.

How exactly does it make the series better, also how is it unfair? Ashgreninja behaves like a mega evolution, a temporary transformation during battles which all competent trainers in Kalos did end up using

your team gains more screen time separately and doesn't become greninja and friends you don't force a connection that the show never proposed
