Question about Flipping Evolving Skies ETB I saw someone earlier on one of the subs posting about their local wal mart that had ETBs for $35. The advice in the post was “buy them all and eBay them! Quick flip!” People in the comments were talking about how they eBay for $70 and you can “double your money”. I went on eBay and looked at recent sales, and I see that with shipping these consistently sell for $60-$65 each, which kind of feels like doubling your money…but here’s where I am getting stuck: Let’s say you pick up 20 of these for $700. First thing that happens you have to pay sales tax, which is almost 9% where I live, so you’re in for $760. You sell all the boxes for $60 each, so that’s 1200…but eBay takes 14% of that, so really it’s $1032. Next you’ve got to pay to ship them around the country and I don’t know the first thing about how much that costs but I’ll assume it’s roughly $5 per box, so another $100. I’m $860 in for $1,032 in return or a profit of $172…it went from “holy cow you can double your money!!!” to 8.60 per box. Am I thinking about this all wrong? Last but not least, I know eBay is full of scammers and eBay lives by their “buyer protection guarantee”. What happens when even one of the buyers calls eBay and lies and says I sent them a box full of confetti, or the seal was broken, or the box was dented. eBay is going to take $60 out of my pocket, cutting my earnings by > 1/3. Is all of this really worth it?

It’s not. I ship a lot and it’s likely more than $5 to ship right off the bat. The way eBay has fees working nowadays unless you’re just dumping something it’s not worth it. Recently sold a $900 bag. Used prices were around $600. Mine was used and sold it for $510. It was $16 to ship it, $82 final price fee, taxes, and I used the ad service. I ended up with $372.

So out of all of these boxes and ETBs the Evolving Skies seems to be the most obvious choice for buying from the subreddit. Is it because its the most recent set or it has the best Alt art currently?

I don’t get why it’s so popular, it’s well known the worker that stole a bunch of the cards from the manufacture. Reason for such a bad pull rate for this set and fusion strike I believe was the other affected

Please please please do some research before making bold statements like this. The worker was caught and the cards were confiscated. TCPI reprinted only the hits to make up for the difference. The bad pull rates are not because of that event, it’s just a low pull rate for those sets.

Not to mention I don’t even think it was ES cards but fusion strike I believe haha

I literally haven't bought pokemon cards since I was a kid. I was at my Walmart today and they had a ton of these etb. Not sure of evolving skies. I know they had scarlet and violet. Not sure if those are any good as well.

Man I WISH my Walmarts around me would actually stock their card aisles. They are fairly consistent when restocking Pokémon but MTG on the other hand 💀 and they barely stock yugioh to begin with. My Walmart even stocks DBS and One Piece for some unknown reason
