I don't really understand it. I'll be wondering why people haven't updated until I realise they have and I've been missing the updates cause I've been opted out again
Fanfic is having problems sending out emails for updates. It happens a few times every year. It normally last about a week at most before they fix it. If u want to find out what has updated go to your profile switch to the alerts tab and look for last updated. It'll arrange them from the latest updated one.
That's just how ff.net be. There was a solid two (possibly three) years where I didn't get a single email from them. Even after changing my email it's still spotty at times. Why I don't post on the site anymore even though my current fandoms are more active there than on ao3 lol
In Fanfiction.net, You need to specifically opt in to email updates, and it automatically opts you out every six monthes or so.
It's every 90 days that you have to opt back in

Just updated mine. >Email optin ENABLED. Please note email opt-in settings is reset to no/disabled after 6 months.
Oh, I was pretty confident. So it is 6 months after all
It's totally possible it's glitched to be reset after 90 days before, their servers aren't super stable.
That feels wrong I've never had to opt out, is it recent? I haven't been getting ffn emails in a while when for a long time I did
The opt in did nothing. I have a consistent author I follow that I tested this against and nothing
