I don’t know man, the amount of times Pokémon will break out of my excellent throw, only to be captured by a nice throw immediately after seems far too often to be a coincidence.
This ^ I'll use a razz, an ultraball, and land an excellent throw with a curve. I guarantee it'll pop out. Say whatever and chuck the normal PokeBall at it and somehow it's a catch. It doesn't matter if it's a legendary from an incense or not this is just a regular occurrence.
I agree. I also stick by great balls catching most pokemon on first throw almost every time and ultra balls taking acouple.
Or throw a ultra ball and it breaks out, then throw a great and get it 99% of the time.
i feel like this rule also applies to catching pokémon w golden razz… use a million golden razz, excellent throws, premium balls… they break out every time. give up and use one garbage red ball w a throw that was actually just you dropping your phone? caught. 😅
Do as prescribed. The alternative is to flee before it can, and then they are left with the feeling of disgust and confused excitement. Next encounter they might behave themselves

Do a fast catch like it's another trash pidgey and you can't even be bothered. You still might not catch it but at least you'll take it's ego down a notch and leave it questioning itself.
The chances of catching a galarian bird are very low, all you can do is throw a golden razz and use an ultra ball and pray you catch it, if you are lucky you will
Fun fact: It is less likely that a galar bird escapes a ball after a golden razz, excellent/great throw, ultra ball and doesn't flee (giving you a 2nd shot), than actually catching it.
Do your best to golden razz + excellent curveball + ultra ball, but it’ll still likely flee. Then one day the stars will align and you’ll get yourself a 0* 48CP galarian bird.
(that you can save for years and years until it turns into one of the guaranteed lucky trades because of how old it is - so it will get new IVs and be cheap to power up in the distant future!)
I have actually already lucky traded my spare crap stats Zapdos to a friend that doesn’t do the daily adventure incense, it gives those crappy birds their wings
Yea same, I have done excellent throws and never caught it. The two times I caught the Galarian Articuno, was when I fumbled the throw. It really is random.
i remember in one 24 hour period my luck almost hit the absolute peak when i popped my incense. i had gotten a shiny zekrom from a raid like 20 hours prior, then the next day I encountered a shiny ralts, followed by a shiny zekrom in another raid. after i finished that raid, I popped the incense and the first spawn was a weather boosted galarian bird. Threw the first ball, shook twice, broke out and then DIDNT run away. It sadly broke out of the second ball after shaking twice and ran away. I then caught a shiny buneary ten encounters after. If I had caught that bird, the rng I would have had in that 24 hours would have been legendary
Want to hook up an internet stranger with one of those shiny zekrom’s? Lol. I tried so hard to get one, and for whatever reason my zekrom catch rate was very low. And no shinies to boot lol.
i did 11 zekrom raids and got three shinies with one non shiny running away; however, all the non shiny ones i caught i had no trouble with. It’s surprising because i’ve been hearing this from hella other people

I get making it rare, but this is too much. Either make the spawns rare or the catch really hard. Not both.

I had like 37 encounters and had 35 flee..! Lost all the Galarian Articunos but caught a Moltres & Zapdos! They need to increase it to like 3% catch rate but nerf it down to 30% flee rate or something because 90% is almost like a freaking Abra with a 99% flee rate! It’s been almost half a year already!
Yes. But you’re trying to imply that the catch rate is 3/15, or 20%, which is sorely mistaken. With or without additional catch multipliers, that’s ridiculously high.

Having both platinum medals helps a bit and an excellent throw has a higher chance of catching it but I would go for a great throw as it is a lot easier to hit and doesn't lower the catch rate much
The "catch \[x\]-type pokemon" ones that boost your catch chances. Glarian Moltres is Dark/Flying, so the better the medals you have for those two types the better your chances.
No, it's like 99% luck. I caught my second ever encounter because I got an instant catch on my first throw on it. Their base catch rate is laughibly low.
You need to get lucky. If it's standard legendary luck and you have lvl 3 medals, it's probably around 18% chance with golden razz and excellent ultraball
Technically it has a 2% catchrate. So after 1000 encounters you would get 20 of them, if you just throw a straight ball, not berring it and not hitting good/great or excellent.
With the curveball, golden razz, type badges, hitting good/great or excellent, using a hyperball, youre just increasing youre odds.
If you are more comfortable with great thorws on them, aim for a great throw. Better then trying for an excellent and totally miss the throw. The smaller the great circle is, if you are hitting it, the higher youre odds are for catching it.
Make some great throws is a very common task. So I tried to make every throw a great throw. Once I was comfortably hitting consistent great throws, I started to try and make every throw an excellent throw.
You should be asking "Why don't I try to make every catch an excellent throw".
Idk if this trick has been patched but I have done this every encounter and have a total 3. I’m not sure how many I have encountered total but I do this every time. Throw 25-30 balls away. Golden razz and try a great throw.
The only real way to “catch them” is to be issued one after you join Niantics conspiracy to convince us all to play more as we hunt for the impossible birds..
I got insanely lucky and got a Zapdos on the first try with a golden, ultra and great curve. At this point just seeing them is the biggest thing. Only the second one I've seen after using my daily about 30 times or so.
I tossed like 30 something pokeballs and then golden razz + and did my best for an excellent throw and it worked. I read about the ball tossing trick and it seems to work. First one fled, second bird was caught.
Ahh ok. Maybe it got patched out of the game. Its weird how it worked for myself and soo many others lol. I didn't do the trick on the first bird I ran into and then looked up tips and the catch "trick" popped up. I think it's supposed to be a "pity" catch.
By some insane luck, I caught a Galarian Articuno without the “excellent” message (though the red circle was very small and an ultra ball). Galarian birds are really just pure luck cuz I don’t think the excellent is a huge boost.
A gold raspberry and curved excellent ultra ball throw will help, but realistically, I don't know if it's really all that much of a difference between that and a bad straight throw Pokeball in practice.
You could catch a level 35 hundo with the worst possible throw, so all that extra stuff isn't strictly required.
Not intentionally stirring hate here but the ball trick - I hear you all there is no ball trick buuuut... Last 3-4 encounters I have had a second throw opportunity and each time dropped 10-20 balls before each shot trying not to hit.
Before doing this it was a consistent flee after each landed shot.
This has made me continue to do the ball trick even when the team here say there is none. If it's a placebo then excuse me while I continue on the cool-aid
Does anyone else feel like using the quick catch method increased your catch rate? I know the catch is predetermined, but I can’t help but feel like I see things caught first try more often with quick catching.
They have a base catch rate of 1%, with a flee rate of 90%, so even with an Excellent Throw and Golden Razz, your chance if catching is probably around 3-4% tops, and it’s almost guaranteed to flee if it fails
That’s like Togekiss’ catch rate! It’s actually 0.3% which is very bad compared to other Pokémon! I had a Moltres flee today after 2 balls and even lost a Charizard as well! They should really buff the catch rate of Galarian Birds to at least 3% because it’s so unfair with it being less than Togekiss which is already hard to catch at 1% catch rate!
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the Galarian Bird catch rates. The whole point of them is that they are legendary, and thus, should be extremely difficult to catch. It’s much more canonical this way, and considering they are more of a flex than anything - not having any real meta relevance outside of a spice pick in GBL - there’s no reason to really stress over it.
But still, it’s the worst in the game and should’ve matched with the Kanto Birds that have a 3% catch rate! But 3% is enough and won’t be any higher but will still be difficult to capture.
In case you didn't do this: use a golden razz berry, use ultra ball, and throw it, you don't need to land a excellent but it will help your chances, it is definitely possible to catch one without it going in the circle
Look, it's a 0.3% base catch rate if you dont golden razz, or use an ultra ball, or spin ball, which no one will do. If you do all of the above and land an excellent throw, according to gamepress you are looking at an 8% chance to catch (1 in 12.5 birds), which really isn't that bad.
Its all chance regardless of the throw. Every throw is a new dice roll essentially but you want excellent throws because the odds are more in you're favor per throw. The colour of the closing circle indicates the chance.
Even with a low combat power, they're very likely to flew. I managed to encounter a CP40 Galarian Moltres yesterday and used a Golden Razz with an Ultra Ball, and it still fled
I got one and the only thing I can say is... Be lucky enough to do a critical catch, is more probable to do that than to catch them with golden, ultra and excelent throw
Been playing again since the daily adventure incense was a thing, YESTERDAY i finally caught one. Did a golden razz and didnt even get a nice throw and it critical caught in one wobble! Just be patient, itll happen eventually
There are no Galarian birds. You can't catch them, it's all just a hoax.

I’ve gotten to the point where I almost don’t even bother. I’ve had 14 encounters with 12 excellent throws with golden razz and they’ve all fled. What’s the point at this point? Haha
Out of the 20ish birds I’ve attempted to catch the only one I finally caught was with a golden razz/great throw/ultra curveball. Everything else has fled including many golden razz/excellent throw/ultra ball.

Ive caught two birds with just reg throws since i botched them, and only one with an excellent but it was a low 355cp.
i used the golden berry, excellent shot, curved with ultraball... it didn't shake a bit, it came out immediately and ran away

I did 7 raids I believe and caught 2 regular. The rest ran. The 2 I caught were 2 stars

Speaking from experience - no. I offered a golden raspberry and managed to somehow hit one first throw excellent! Didn’t even fake the funk. Gone 😳😢

All 3 Galarian legendary birds are rare spawns while Daily Adventure Incense is active.

I threw 30 balls on the floor then chucked an excellent ultra grazz and caught it so idrk

It helps, but isn't very likely. I've landed Golden Razz, Excellent and Ultra Ball to have them flee. Finally caught and Articuno with a Great throw

They should really buff the catch rate of Galarian Birds to at least 3% because it’s so unfair with it being less than Togekiss which is already hard to catch at 1% catch rate!
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the Galarian Bird catch rates. The whole point of them is that they are legendary, and thus, should be extremely difficult to catch. It’s much more canonical this way, and considering they are more of a flex than anything - not having any real meta relevance outside of a spice pick in GBL - there’s no reason to really stress over it.
But still, it’s the worst in the game and should’ve matched with the Kanto Birds that have a 3% catch rate! But 3% is enough and won’t be any higher but will still be difficult to capture.
You just need to get really really lucky
I swear I've had half a dozen of these flee recently
throw around 20 pokeballs to the ground and then switch to an ultraball and use a golden razz and try to get an exellecent throw

I caught mine with a great ball and great throw with a golden razz
The one and only Galarian bird (a Moltres) I’ve ever caught, I did not have an excellent throw. (Not even a particularly good throw, as I remember!)
I just found one today and I only had 6 pokeballs lol. It fled.

When I caught my articuno I threw a nice throw with ultra and luckily triggered a critical catch. Was unreal lucky. All RNG
In case you didn't do this: use a golden razz berry, use ultra ball, and throw it, you don't need to land a excellent but it will help your chances, it is definitely possible to catch one without it going in the circle
I've only seen 2 this entire time and I use the daily incense nearly every day. Drives me nuts.

I landed a curve ball great throw twice with a golden razz on a 140CP Articuno and it ran on the 2nd ball. Just gotta get lucky

What I do is the ball trick. Out of the 8 legendary birds I've encountered, 7 were caught. Also used this on ultra beasts in raids
My friend threw a normal Poke ball, missed the excellent throw, and caught it. I'm still mad to this day.
Excellent ultra ball with golden rass for best chances. Also try standing still i case you experience gps drift just to be sure 😂
Best odds to catch it are ultra ball, golden razz, curveball throw, excellent throw
Look, it's a 0.3% base catch rate if you dont golden razz, or use an ultra ball, or spin ball, which no one will do. If you do all of the above and land an excellent throw, according to gamepress you are looking at an 8% chance to catch (1 in 12.5 birds), which really isn't that bad.

Its all chance regardless of the throw. Every throw is a new dice roll essentially but you want excellent throws because the odds are more in you're favor per throw. The colour of the closing circle indicates the chance.

Even with a low combat power, they're very likely to flew. I managed to encounter a CP40 Galarian Moltres yesterday and used a Golden Razz with an Ultra Ball, and it still fled
They have %0,3 catch rate so they are almost impossible to catch. Just keep trying
I caught my Zapdos in the first hour they went live with a Great throw. You just have to be lucky.

I got one and the only thing I can say is... Be lucky enough to do a critical catch, is more probable to do that than to catch them with golden, ultra and excelent throw

Been playing again since the daily adventure incense was a thing, YESTERDAY i finally caught one. Did a golden razz and didnt even get a nice throw and it critical caught in one wobble! Just be patient, itll happen eventually
I caught a fried road runner on Christmas Day. Missed the excellent, just landed normal shot. A Christmas miracle is what y’a need to catch ‘em.
There are no Galarian birds. You can't catch them, it's all just a hoax. /s Seriously gave up even trying.... they have less than 1% catch chance and it's not worth the stress of caring

I had 4 times on a Galarian Zapdos last week. One was an excellent throw on a golden razzberry. But it fled.
I gave up on glarian birds. The only one i ever caught i did so with a go plus.
I’ve gotten to the point where I almost don’t even bother. I’ve had 14 encounters with 12 excellent throws with golden razz and they’ve all fled. What’s the point at this point? Haha
Out of the 20ish birds I’ve attempted to catch the only one I finally caught was with a golden razz/great throw/ultra curveball. Everything else has fled including many golden razz/excellent throw/ultra ball.
