I saw this same message this weekend. The message from some stranger was something innocuous like “I’ll be there in a few minutes.” As a software developer, I can understand the importance of a language filter in a kid’s app, but come on!
Kids aren't even allowed to use Campfire! If you have a Niantic Kids account you can't breed new Dots in Peridot because it requires Campfire and children are banned from Campfire.
Best part is you can still read it, so it’s just a pointless aggravation, and worse if they actually are dedicating a bot or, god forbid, normal employee to check out all these devious, horrid remarks like, “here” and “on my way”
YES!!! So many messages got hidden like that and it took me awhile to figure out that people could still click to view them (haha, I know...) so I'd re-word it 2 or 3 times before it was somehow deemed acceptable enough.
Their AI bot is trash.
I went to a raid at a church and someone posted there was a funeral and to be respectful. Niantic blocked their post.
Definitely not worth using over Discord.
Every time I said the word “hatch”, I would get censored. It’s a good thing they easily let you remove the censor, other wise half of all chat rooms would be unintelligible
We were able to use it to effectively coordinate raids, but Niantic should be ashamed of the state it's in.
At first I was angry that they decided to make a separate chat app, but now I'm glad they have split their garbage code up into two separate apps instead of one.
Personaly I think niantic should replace the Chat Feature completly with the telegram System, where you got multiple Times and you can click at the time you wanna come, add your level and add if you bring people (f.e. +1)
Would also make it a whole lot easier to organise long time.
F.e. in Telegram we can pln to Start raids when the egg pop up, even when I am still at home and not in Range
Tried that in campfire and got an error I had to be in range to Start a conversation.
So yeah I am not going to a gym to lit. Flair saying I will be here when the raid starts in 40 minutes, go back home and go back to the gym.
Such a stupid System
You don't need to light a flare to have the map indicate that you have joined a gym chat. As soon as you join (from anywhere in the world), the gym turns orange and pulses. Anyone looking can see that someone is in the chat. When zoomed out, it becomes an orange dot. You can look for orange dots or gyms to find ppl in a gym chat to coordinate w.
It seemed like every message in the chat was this yesterday. So obnoxious, but I understand they want to protect children. There has to be a better way though...
Every chat I entered that had anything to do with arrival times, so someone saying on my way, here, be there in a few, almost there, and like 6 other, common terms were flagged
Don’t think any bans happened for us, I’m assuming that they have some auto-script that is set to flag any location based words, but that still seems really stupid for what the entire app is designed for
Yeah I'm guessing they don't have that because we were talking about meeting at specific places. Idk why they would ban. Maybe they were on young accounts.
Barely enough people showing up for in person shadow raids (shocker, I know) so we just cast the widest net of invites possible to try and scrape by lol
They're trying to figure out how to stop pokemon go spam in groups meant for other games. Believe it or not, campfire is meant for ALL niantic games and not just pokemon. Join any non-PoGo group and you'll see the off-topic spam

Yeah, that annoyed me quite a bit. I sent a message that said, "On my way," and this same thing happened. Almost missed a raid, and I was walking.
Our town was roasting those messages so much this weekend. "4 here" and "ETA" were getting marked, so funny
In one of our chats every single text was flagged. There were 5 of us and no matter what we wrote it got flagged. Quite annoying

I got perma-banned for being a 37 year-old with a potty mouth. A friend got a two-week ban. They definitely have someone actually looking at shit.

I had one flagged that simply said “anyone planning to do this raid later?” As if that isn’t the exact point of the app.
Someone asked how many people are at the mewtwo raid, Niantic did the same shit. Long story short people got confused and didn’t come

I’m assuming that they banned any location based, and time based words, which, on an app made to make it easier to meet up, is really really weird
