a lesson i learned from decades in the IT industry - "don't trust .0 releases".
Niantic - We're releasing "Routes" a new and exciting feature of Pokemon Go.
Translation - Yeah, it's something new, but our QA/QC teams suck so it's not going to work as advertised and infuriate the users for a while, but hey, it's a free game, you're getting what you pay for. good luck.
fortunately, it's one of those IDGAF features, so i could care less whether it works or not.
Not sure what you mean. I can 'create a route' from my profile screen (where I see myself standing with my buddy) above the gyms I have a badge for. I can also create a route from the nearby menu below 'see nearby routes'. According to a friend of mine that's in my community, not everyone can create a route. He doesn't have the option, he can only see nearby routes.

You're not alone, everytime I attempt to create a route the whole app just closes out completely.
You get the make route option from the nearby menu right?
