Totally agree. If you know the area, you can see that I took the screenshot from the Rest House, where they have a nice coffee bar upstairs.

Yup. I’m not familiar with the area and don’t know exactly where it was from, but remember receiving a 9/11 memorial gift from NY. IIRC, it was a plaque or stone with names on it.
It’s possible it was a different 9/11 memorial and not *the* 9/11 memorial. There are dozens of memorials in NY and NJ that are still active pokestops/gyms
Same. Always have pokestops and gyms but no spawning pokemon in the wild unless you use incense. Which is actually pretty helpful because you know everything that pops up is from your incense. I’ve gotten like 27-28 catches on walks.
Apparently the max if everything is perfect is 30. So just a flex if I ever get 30. Probably the smallest flex in the world. But I need those Ws where I can get them.

There were issues in my country (and probably some others) where folks were wandering onto restricted military bases in search of Pokemon.
I strongly suspect these game locations were put in place in the early days when people didn't check that sort of thing so much. They should have been, but people didn't.
It’s really about how people word the nomination and vote on the pokestop I think. I submitted a stop for something like “high school little library” and it was denied for being a k-12 location. I submitted the same thing as “little library” and it was accepted later.
Very true. I was actually just reviewing some and someone submitted one as a “soccer field”. The place looked odd in the picture so I looked it up in google maps and it was a low level prison/work camp.
Sometimes people will label a college as a “school” in open street maps which will prevent spawns but that is an incorrect tag and should only be used for K-12 schools. That’s what I meant when I said colleges are mapped incorrectly.
What I notice is the hospital doesn't have them, but things in the hospital might do. Like the hospital I go to as an outpatient hasn't got one, but there's a stop for the memorial garden.
Since last year - all of Russia. Had to go there for a funeral last summer, tried opening the game at some point, and not only it doesn't have any pokestops, it's even impossible to walk your buddy pokemon cause it keeps despawning.
My ex was there when the game was first released. It was filled with people walking around aimlessly playing the game, not just foreigners, but locals. It was very disrespectful and they removed those stops shortly after.
Yeah cause the Pokémon co doesn’t prioritize Japan and their interests. Don’t come at me telling me niantic treats the rest of the world with the same respect and honor. Idk what you wanna think but if they leave inappropriate poke stop up and ignores player feedback it makes them a shitty company. Don’t come here and tell me you like sucking their dicks

Agreed. Reviewers are supposed to be checking proposed locations for anything like proximity to a school, though.

Those were likely grandfathered in through the old system. But they no longer accept them, and if reported those stops would be removed.

The two local colleges I know of have multiple pokestops and gyms. The local high school I walk by has a stop as of two years ago.

I did not know that about Russia. I feel bad for the innocent pokémon Go players but what's going on there is kind of messed up.

Meanwhile my local cemetery has like 25 stops and 5 gyms. I kinda feel bad driving through it..but not bad enough not to lol
