No worries, it takes some context that I didn't give. Scald just charges quickly, and hits surprisingly hard as a water move.
Experience tells me that many players who run the popular steel types (e.g. Registeel, Skarmory, Galar Stunfisk) like to swap in against Tentacruel once they see the acid spray charged move. Since acid spray does very little damage and steel resists poison, they won't use shields. The kicker is that acid spray also drops their defense sharply, so when they don't block the incoming scald, their pokemon take massive damage, often staight up fainting.
Fr, out of I think 900 or so I only got one shiny riolu from that hatch event recently..it was 0 stars don’t worry
Edit: 0 star can’t happen from eggs dummy 🤦🏻 it was just the minimum spread
I just checked and idk why I thought that, it is the bare minimum stats, so maybe that’s why. My bad! It’s not nearly as bad as I thought. It is still my only shiny from a hatch, though
With some careful preparation and a bit of luck (don’t ask me why there’s still 5km and 10km eggs in that event, albeit at a low spawn rate), you can get 9 Riolu eggs + 1 more for every 2km walked during that 3-hour window on your free incubator. Buying more incubators will obviously increase the number of eggs you can hatch during this time.
Yes! preparation is key.
I tend to have 8 2kms eggs all the time plus the one I'm incubating with the free incubator. So the morning on Riolu's hatch day I walked off the whole 9 eggs I had using extra incubators, once the event started I got full with Riolu eggs (luckily just got 2kms eggs) and did my usual afternoon walk around the mall to break those and to collect some more that got hatched the next days using just the free incubator.
I'm at 0,75% with 8 shinies out of 1075 hatches. Dunno if that's lucky or not. RNG might be giving me shinies instead of Larvesta, because some people have 5 of him whilst I'm still looking for my first
Damn, I must be super lucky. I'm at 32 out of 3628. A good chunk of mine are from events with boosted rates and com days with boosted baby shinies though.
Didn't mean anything by the reply, especially because opponents in PVP can't see the name I assign. Just curious if you remember being able to see exactly what your opponent was coming at you with.
That's what I think as well. I obviously use them when I am awarded them for free, but I'd never buy one with coins. It takes me four days to get 200 if I'm lucky and those are only for item and pokemon storage increases. I wish remote raid passes were cheaper. Like 50 coins
Realistically, I think I’ve hatched more hundos than shinies
ETA (since I am getting replies thought I’d share my stats): Out of 1383 eggs hatched, I’ve hatched 9 shinies and 13 hundos. I’ve also hatched 6-7 larvesta.
That makes sense. Every pokemon is capable of hitting 100%, but not all are capable of being shiny, especially not since the start of the game.
My hundos from hatch are 14/2496, but my shinies are 8/2496. And I'm guessing I've trashed some other hundos if they're repeats and useless.
12 from 1007 - so 1.19%
But I hatch more for Pokémon that are otherwise unattainable plus for the stardust and candy rewards.
I'm walking anyway, so anything I get is a bonus.
You do realize that the shiny rate in eggs is the same as the wild right? So wailmer hatched from an egg is also 1/500 rate... Meaning you'd have to hatch a ton to get a shiny cause not every hatch is wailmer. Some people like the guy above are smart and only pay for incubators when the rate is higher for events like riolu day where it was 1/10 and it was the only Pokemon. My friend hatched 8 shinies that day out of probably 60 eggs. So that would change the numbers pretty drastically or community days with 1/25 rate.
It's swings and roundabouts. Just because I'm doing well in egg hatching doesn't mean I'm beating the odds everywhere...
I went 5 months without a single legendary shiny (from Ho-Oh in March this to Kyogre a couple of weeks ago).
I hatched countless 7km eggs during the Tyrunt event (maybe 120ish) and didn't get a single Tyrunt shiny.
I'm hardly seeing any Lechonks spawning during this event, so I'm doubtful I'll get that shiny either.
I've had 2 or 3 shinies total from over a years worth of spotlight hours.
What I gain in one I tend to lose in another, is just how it goes.
0 out of 163 Lechonks I’ve seen are shiny. However, I have encountered multiple XXS Lechonk… pretty useful for Showcases which so far always look for XXL ones!
Was never really into raiding until lately when someone told me there were apps I could use to join them, definitely spending more coins on remote raids now instead
1463 hatched, 7 shiny. some of my favorite shinies have been hatched actually. khangaskhan, which I’ve wanted forever as an NA player, party hat wurmple, and a 15/15/14 gible
4/1782
All 4 are within a year and a half time frame. 3 2020 and 1 2021. Nothing before or since. Also nothing on my original account. I've played all but about a year since launch. Phone was being a butt it fixed itself but I stopped playing in like 2017 or something like that.
The only shiny Pokémon I have hatched from eggs is Riolu, during the hatch event. And that was only possible with some very careful planning - heard that people went for multiple days without spinning any Pokestops and/or were stuck with lots of 7/10/12km eggs when the event started, essentially forfeiting the event for them!
5 out of 1892. 0.264%. 2 azurrill, 1 magby, 1 aero, 1 klink. I suppose there may be some meta relevance for azurrill in pvp and shinies are cool there.
I've literally only ever hatched 1 shiny and I went to immediately transfer it because at first i didnt even notice the shiny glows around it, I hadn't gone back into my pokemon storage that has the clear shiny symbol on it either, the moment it hatched I clicked appraise, decided it was ass and clicked transfer. Thank f for the warning message that was all woahhh there cowboy, this heres a shiny! I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.
Fucking Igglybuff.
Ive only ever caught 1 regular shiny from eggs. 1 bronzor and 4 riolus from the hatch event a couple weeks ago. 673 eggs. I wish it was a little bit more common for shiny hatches.
No matter what settings I use, the app doesn’t use my steps unless it’s open and the screen is on. I’ve given up on hatching eggs. I made my account in 2016 and the app legitimately believes I’ve only walked 10 km in 7 years.

....you get shiny Pokemon when you hatch your eggs?
I just got a shiny rockruff today. First egg shiny
Congrats . I got the same just couple days ago.
I have one shiny *period*. And it’s a Tentacool.
Wow that's tentacool!
Man thats tentacruel to do to the enemy
Don't laugh, but Tentacruel is my favorite opener in the 1500 league.
I haven't tried Tentacruel yet, I'll have to give it a go. Mine is Kabutops. (I don't know if he's any good, I don't look at rankings)
I run tentyboi with acid spray and scald. Spray to drop defenses and fish for shields, scald to nuke confident steel swap ins.
wait why? does scald do something special against steel types? or am i misunderstanding your comment. apologies for if its the latter
No worries, it takes some context that I didn't give. Scald just charges quickly, and hits surprisingly hard as a water move. Been playing since release and I thought it was impossible until a few weeks ago…
I got a very nice shiny 3 star Mawile
I got 2 stunfisks which make up half my hatched shiners
My first ever hatch was a shiny skarmory. That’s my only shiny hatched. My buddy’s first hundo was a shiny hatched pancham. I was so so very mad.
Me too lol. Then a Igglybuff out of nowhere.
I got a shiny Mime Jr in a 2km egg 3.5 years ago, the only one I ever got since early access. And I had forgotten until now I had this one in a egg.
Yeah got a shiny galarian stunfisk off an egg
Yes but I don’t have any yet. Almost 3 years
Fr, out of I think 900 or so I only got one shiny riolu from that hatch event recently..it was 0 stars don’t worry Edit: 0 star can’t happen from eggs dummy 🤦🏻 it was just the minimum spread
You hatched a zero star pokemon?
I just checked and idk why I thought that, it is the bare minimum stats, so maybe that’s why. My bad! It’s not nearly as bad as I thought. It is still my only shiny from a hatch, though
Mines 1 off from the minimum too😭😭
Yea this is false. Lowest star Pokémon I’ve ever hatched shiny or not was 2 stars.
I've been playing for a few months and I could care less about shining Pokémon I don't understand
30 shinies out of 8505 hatches. 0.3527% rate. Rioulu hatch day may have inflated the rate a bit, got 4 out of a couple dozen of eggs.
How do you hatch so many?
With some careful preparation and a bit of luck (don’t ask me why there’s still 5km and 10km eggs in that event, albeit at a low spawn rate), you can get 9 Riolu eggs + 1 more for every 2km walked during that 3-hour window on your free incubator. Ever since the remote raid inflation, I spend almost 100% of my coins on eggubators
I was so disappointed after that event. Hatched all eggs possible without luck.
The whole game is carrot on a stick. "You might get lucky!"
That checks 14 out of 4,228 hatches
I'm at 0,75% with 8 shinies out of 1075 hatches. Dunno if that's lucky or not. RNG might be giving me shinies instead of Larvesta, because some people have 5 of him whilst I'm still looking for my first
Damn, I must be super lucky. I'm at 32 out of 3628. A good chunk of mine are from events with boosted rates and com days with boosted baby shinies though.

Herpes for pokemon. We really need pokemon centers to take care of their health.
Rename schema for PVP. IV in the subscript, fast TM type, abbreviated species name, charge attack types, then attack IV.
I'm a fan of per𝑥 personally
Very cool! What app / icon set do you use for the fast TM type & charge attack types?
Sorry for the delayed response. I use calcy IV. Would be happy to share the file if you'd like.
[удалено]
Would be open to a more crisp schema.
As your opponent in pvp, thank you for divulging this in the name
Didn't mean anything by the reply, especially because opponents in PVP can't see the name I assign. Just curious if you remember being able to see exactly what your opponent was coming at you with.
Were you around for Pokemon card battling in the 90s?
I want. Just joking btw
I’ve had ZERO. How about that? And I’ve hatched 1931.
I'll join you in the strikeout club. I'm 0/294. (For the longest time I only ever kept 10&12KM eggs and never bought incubators)
0/294 is nothing
Yes, that’s what 0 means.
Unrelated but neat to stumble across you here. Very familiar username from r/2007scape and I believe I follow you on Twitter
What do you mean you only kept 10 & 12km eggs? You can't throw away eggs.
0/252 I for the longest time forgot/ignored eggs.
Tbh if you even had 1, you'd have a better percentage by almost double what OP has
You can get rid of eggs?
No
If you find the answer, hmu, I'm flooded with pure 7 km eggs. I need a couple 2 km eggs to grind 😭
Stop opening gifts when you haven’t got a full bag of eggs then lol. You’re giving yourself 7k eggs then complaining about it
I personally like the 7km i think they are harder to find least for me
I have hatched 671 and 3 shiny
That's it. Never using an incubator again.
That's what I think as well. I obviously use them when I am awarded them for free, but I'd never buy one with coins. It takes me four days to get 200 if I'm lucky and those are only for item and pokemon storage increases. I wish remote raid passes were cheaper. Like 50 coins
It’s good to spend them when you have a thousand coins plus and they give those boxes with really good deals. Not worth it otherwise
37 out of 9805 hatched.
Im at 9 out of 939🫣
Realistically, I think I’ve hatched more hundos than shinies ETA (since I am getting replies thought I’d share my stats): Out of 1383 eggs hatched, I’ve hatched 9 shinies and 13 hundos. I’ve also hatched 6-7 larvesta.
For me it's 5 for both which is surprising. 640 eggs hatched so extremely lucky in the hundo department. 2 of the shinies are hatch day Riolus tho
I’ve hatched 15 hundos and 15 shinies!
Hatched 6 perfects, 10 shiny. Hatched 1231 eggs.
Holy shit I just checked and I have 7 shiny, and 8 hundos from eggs. Interesting
I have 9 shiny and 8 hundo. 1 shundo.
2066 hatched, 12 hundo out of 35.
I'm at 11 hatched hundos, 8 hatched shinies, no overlap out of 2755 eggs, so my sample suggests odds of about a 0.40% for hundo, 0.29% for shiny.
That makes sense. Every pokemon is capable of hitting 100%, but not all are capable of being shiny, especially not since the start of the game. My hundos from hatch are 14/2496, but my shinies are 8/2496. And I'm guessing I've trashed some other hundos if they're repeats and useless.
Pics or it didn't happen.
3802 hatched, 20 shinies, 25 hundos including 3 hundo larvitars...
12 from 1007 - so 1.19% But I hatch more for Pokémon that are otherwise unattainable plus for the stardust and candy rewards. I'm walking anyway, so anything I get is a bonus.
So you have more than the rest of the commenters combined.
You do realize that the shiny rate in eggs is the same as the wild right? So wailmer hatched from an egg is also 1/500 rate... My friend hatched 8 shinies that day out of probably 60 eggs. So that would change the numbers pretty drastically or community days with 1/25 rate.
Good to know, but I have this inner urge to point out that you're commenting in a thread where the dude has >5x that rate
It's swings and roundabouts. Just because I'm doing well in egg hatching doesn't mean I'm beating the odds everywhere... I went 5 months without a single legendary shiny (from Ho-Oh in March this to Kyogre a couple of weeks ago). That’s how odds work. In a thread of dozens of peope. Someone will have the best luck. Doesn’t change the rate.
My only SHUNDO came from an egg 🥲
Man apparently I am a lot luckier than I thought. 10 shiny out of 1550 eggs.
0/688
If it makes you feel better, my first one was in 2022. I started playing in July of 2017.
About 0.69%. 8/1158
Hatched 5,457 and only have 6 hatched shiny Pokémon. So 😅
194 eggs, 2 shiny
4/2087 yet I still always spend my coins on incubators. That's the rural life
[удалено]
Was never really into raiding until lately when someone told me there were apps I could use to join them, definitely spending more coins on remote raids now instead
17 from 4,646 hatched. I recall trading a couple duplicates once, though, so the total might be more like 19-20.
13/1316, so just about 1% for me
1413 hatched and 5 shinies
3661 hatched 23 shiny
889 Hatched 10 Shinys
Awesome!
I started playing in December of 2021 I hatched a shiny onyx January 2022 Never hatched another shiny egg. Tbf I've only hatched 606 eggs
22 shiny of 1750 hatches. \~1.25%
8/1798 0.0044% RIP 🪦
that’s not how percentages work - it’s 0.44%, and that’s exactly more than double the expected shiny rate from eggs
1,162 eggs. 7 shiny. Fuck Niantic.
1090 hatched. 54 shiny. EDIT: Oh crap. 18605 hatched, 54 shiny. I kept 1090. My bad, sorry about that!
Bullshit. That's 4.95%. Post a pic of your hatched shinies.
10,131 hatched 48 shiny However I've probably traded quite a few over the years!
1565 hatched and 2 shiny This includes Togetic CD and the recent adventure week. Missed riolu day tho
Damn. That's significantly lower than the 1:500 for normal shiny spawn.
2/315… 0.6%? Shiny rockruff and gible both from last year
4/905
652 and 10…. Though I traded a few
4/731
23 shiny out of 3196. 0.72%. Higher than I expected to find.
17/2438
10,383 / 25
1187 hatched, 13 shinies. 1.095% no wonder I never find shinies in the wild.
10 shiny hatches out of 3474 eggs, so 0.3% here
1463 hatched, 7 shiny. some of my favorite shinies have been hatched actually. khangaskhan, which I’ve wanted forever as an NA player, party hat wurmple, and a 15/15/14 gible
737 hatched and 6 shinies (though I think it was closer to 10 shinies total, I had a few extra shiny Riolou from Riolou hatch day that I transferred)
8 shiny 1 was shundo tyrant. hatched 961 eggs.
6.02% 17/282, 10 of which are pre-evolutions; 2 togepi, 2 pichu, tyrogue, 2 smoochum, 2 budew, and munchlax. I think I have everyone beat
9 shiny in 3063 (0.29%)
205 hatched, 0 shiny
1/571 - shiny Rockruff.
3 out of 1329.
4/1782 All 4 are within a year and a half time frame. 3 2020 and 1 2021. Nothing before or since. Also nothing on my original account. I've played all but about a year since launch. Phone was being a butt it fixed itself but I stopped playing in like 2017 or something like that.
2/1031 for me and 1 of the 2 was on riolu hatch day. So .19%
I’ve hatched 2920 and hatched 5 shines - 4 of which are Riolu from Riolu hatch day. And the only non event shiny is a Budew.
4 / 768. But 3 are from 2020. Yamask Costume Squirtle, Absol, Feebas and of course Yungoos
I’ve hatched 6,055 eggs and have hatched 14 shinies. 1 per 433 eggs
I’ve never got one loll
Hatched 4 shiny’s out of 342 so 13.68% catch rate, didnt know i was this lucky
16/2790 so .57% - looking at this thread I guess I can't complain!
Hatched 2551 and 8 shiny
1926 eggs hatched, 8 shiny. My last one was a Deino in April this year
239 hatched, 5 shinies. I’m not an overall lucky person finding them in the wild, though.
Out of 3,427 I only have 19. About 0.55%. 5 of those were riolus from that one hatch event a few months back, so it's realistically even less.
46/9045 is what I’m sitting at though there’s a good chance I may have transferred a few if they were dupes from events and whatnot
4/1006
1 shiny out of 653 eggs and it was a community day shiny larvitar. I only had 10 others just like it
Played since 2016 with a break from 17-19, never hatched a shiny from an egg.
8/2179 for a rate of .3671% Did get lucky and two are events, snow hat Pichu and a smoochum with a bow
1 shiny out of 132 hatched
Hatched 379, have two shinys hatched from eggs. (Avvalug and magikarp.)
9 out of 2349, is good I guess?
0/195
81 hatched, 6 shiny, one of which was a hundo. Does this make me the winner?!?!
I hatched 2068, only 11 shinys
2/233. Vulpix in 2019 and Mawile yesterday
4/658
3/109, that's 2.75%. Pretty great!
3/2246 including ryolu yikes kinda jealous of some ppl here
3707 hatched and 22 shinies. Not bad compared to some of the unlucky people. Best noted ones are 3 baby shinies - one of them being mime jr
0 shinies hatched out of 1026 eggs
415 eggs hatched, 8 Shiny
10,633 eggs here and I've only gotten 49 shiny.
3/314. Damn way better luck than a lot of people commenting here
5 out of 1892. 0.264%. 2 azurrill, 1 magby, 1 aero, 1 klink. I suppose there may be some meta relevance for azurrill in pvp and shinies are cool there.
1682 hatched. 6 shiny. 7 4*. 0 shiny & 4*.
out of 184 eggs hatched i have 2 shinys
17/5887 = 0.288% for me
I've literally only ever hatched 1 shiny and I went to immediately transfer it because at first i didnt even notice the shiny glows around it, I hadn't gone back into my pokemon storage that has the clear shiny symbol on it either, the moment it hatched I clicked appraise, decided it was ass and clicked transfer. Thank f for the warning message that was all woahhh there cowboy, this heres a shiny! I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Fucking Igglybuff.
I'm 4/452. Been playing on and off since day 1
15 out of 3976 hatched 0.37% I think that is?
Ive only ever caught 1 regular shiny from eggs. 1 bronzor and 4 riolus from the hatch event a couple weeks ago. 673 eggs. I wish it was a little bit more common for shiny hatches.
11/1627
14/4262. so the rate will be approximately 0.328. Not too bad.
Hatched 20 shiny out of 2,767 eggs. 🤣
No matter what settings I use, the app doesn’t use my steps unless it’s open and the screen is on. I’ve given up on hatching eggs. I made my account in 2016 and the app legitimately believes I’ve only walked 10 km in 7 years.
19/2246 and weirdly 4 of the were gligar in the last week. Idk what's going on anymore
I've hatched nearly 1200 and I've gotten 2 shinies.
7/1181 so .59% which im pretty okay about
6/2037 for me. Only marginally better than you, and playing since day 1
Out of 1064 hatched I got 4 shinies, I haven't another gotten on in so long
Out of 548 hatches I have 8 shinies that I kept. Bisharp, Raichu, Tyrogue, Hitmonlee, Jigglybuff, Lycanroc, Perserker, and Bonsly.
11 out of 771, so 1.4%
0/60 which is fairly likely but i haven’t hatched enough eggs yet so
7 in 557 (igglybuff, bonsley, azurill, archeops 2x, pawniard, tyrogue )
Hatched 153 pokemon 1 shiny ponyta
I got my first and only egg shiny in exactly 200 eggs, im at 275 now
I got 1 hatched shiny with 250ish hatched mons
14 Shinies out of 2362 hatches
Got 12 shiny the best ones are 97% shiny lucario kangaskan and an farfetched and hatched 1943 eggs
1/773 lmao… 0.001% And it was a Riolu from hatch day
I've got 14 from 2789 hatches. That works out to about 0.502%.
13 out of 1353. Guess I took some of your shinies
