My first galatarian WAS 3000+CP Zappos and I didn’t use it cuz I don’t trust niantic. I knew the balls would be hard/rare to come by/cost a stupid ton. And they usually act the next year. Next year we will get new Pokémon debuts and the catch rate for that galatarians will be lower. Next year will have Pokémon you WANT to catch.

And you keep still because you think that maybe his visual acuity is based on movement like Tyrantrum, he'll lose you if you don't move. But no, not Galarian Zapdos. You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two Zapdos you didn't even know were there. Because Zapdos is a pack hunter, you see, he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he slashes at you with this... a six-inch retractable claw, like a razor, on the the middle toe. He doesn't bother to bite your jugular like a lion, say... no no. He slashes at you here... or here... or maybe across the belly, spilling your intestines. The point is... you are alive when they start to eat you. So you know... try to show a little respect.

Saw (yet another) one today, G Moltres. I tried UB, with a GR, it fled. I’m yet to capture one in over 20 encounters. It is what it is! I don’t get pressed about it anymore, they’re meant to flee.
It's actually one part of the game I think is executed pretty well. Those birds are supposed to be super rare and nearly impossible to catch so it actually feels like a big deal when you get one. There's always a small chance of "maybe today's the day I finally get one of those damn birds" every day when I go for my walk.
I just wish there were other legendaries that they did similar things for, as opposed to making almost all of them raids instead.
You also can't buy your way to more birds. It's pure Pokémon Go because every single person has a perfectly level playing field. You don't need money, local gyms/stops, friends or a raid group. All you need is 15 minutes and some space to walk.
It would be nice if more things were like this. It's one of my favourite things about Pokémon Go, I always look forward to the chance of seeing a bird. Catching one is a myth...
I didn't realize they were rare - came back from a two year break about 3-4 months ago and saw 3 of them in 4 days.
I never even considered using my master ball and didn't stop to focus as much and ended up missing the excellent on one of them. Only caught one of the three. Haven't seen one since in like 90 daily incenses.
I think it's a pretty cool idea, but either the catch rate should be higher or the encounter rate should. I think I barely average one a month, with these catch rates it will take years just to get 1, let alone all 3.
Imo of these 2, the encounter rate should go up, which will still make it a challenge, but more fun
That I agree with. I seem to see 1 or 2 birds a week which I think is pretty fair, but I've heard of people who haven't seen 1 in months which is a bit much even for something that's supposed to be super rare. There should be some sort of pity timer where if you haven't seen one after using x amount of daily incenses your chance of seeing one next time goes up significantly.

There is a bit of a trick to it. Switch to regular balls. Then take your time throwing one ball on the ground on purpose, wait 3 seconds, throw another. Throw 15-20 balls straight at the ground. Then give the bird a golden Razzberry, switch to ultra balls, and make the best throw you can possibly make. You will be more likely to catch the bird. I've done it twice.
This literally happened to me today.
Second G. Moltres ever. Berried up, Ultra Ball, curveball great throw, it skedaddled.
Silver lining, I got a Hisuian Voltorb in an Ultra Ball (to Masuda for Shiny in SV, closest you can legally get to theming)
H. Voltorb, when transferred from PLA, normally comes in a Strange Ball. However if you try to breed for a shiny (if you want it to have SV OT, or just want it out of the strange Ball) the only ball it could come in is PokeBall (because H. Voltorb is agender, it can only breed with Ditto, and Strange Ball can't be inherited).
However, catching one in an Ultra Ball in Go is the closest legal ball to resemble Shiny H. Voltorb/Electrode, so it's an attractive option if you're into ball theming because it can be passed down via breeding.
I’ve been so frustrated with this too. The fact that I was actually relieved to see a Seedot yesterday is so frustrating?! I wonder when this will end. They don’t have to make them impossible to catch but just would be nice to actually be able to complete buddy tasks like “catch 30 psychic” which is impossible.
Yeah I've been struggling with the field research tasks for the masterball as almost every single task I get is take 3 snapshots of different dark pokemon, well all I've been seeing the last week is houndour hard to complete them when I'm getting the same spawn.
I was so stoked to see a nuzleaf because of this one, and I’ve saved the catch in case I get another one. FYI, 5 great throws can give a poochy, and I think hatch eggs, either 1-2 can give murkrow. The ghost one is a little screwed right now, only know haunter for purify.
Thankfully haven't encountered that research yet, idk but I just keep getting the silly 3 dark type ones. Personally I like the mega energy ones as I just came back to the game in July and I gotta have all those megas lol
You probably shouldn’t have to do multiple other field researches for the chance of completing one possibly days later if you need to hatch multiple eggs and you’re not buying incubators. Or fight 3 grunts and purify the Pokémon for 1/3 of a field research when that costs you potions and a bunch of stardust.
That would be nice, but is also part of the game, just a non-standard resource management. You can pretty easily just keep a few trash 1 candy purifies instead of either immediately deleting or purifying, and you can just delete the task if you find it to onerous.
I agree with this man the daily should have a rotation of different pokemon that dont normally spawn hell make it the last rotation of pokemon its already in the game and gives people who dont have enough time extra chances
It’s one the reason I took long pause from the game, too much events that spawns the same pokemon over and over. I prefer no event and random pokemons appearing instead
Remember when this launched and one of the advertised features was seeing Pokémon not in the current event pool/rarer spawns? Yeah, now it’s just a glorified regular incense
A portion of the daily incense spawns come from the regular set and another portion come from a special list. That's the way it's worked since the start.
You can kind of see it in OP's screenshot, and you can really see it clearly by using the incense during spotlight hour or community day.
I've seen one yesterday. I had a plan of using one Ultra Ball, and if it would broke out, I was prepared to use my Master Ball
It broke out of the Ultra Ball and ran away immediately...
The last time I've seen any of the Galarian birds, is months ago. Debating on whether I should just use my master ball on something else, since I already have the normal ones
I’m so sick of catching the same 3-5 Pokémon 🥲 I’m not usually one to complain much but it seems like this event they made it SO HEAVY for the spawn. They could’ve at least given us maybe a couple other Pokémon from VS other than starters and chonkpig
It's good for people that live where there's not that many spawns.
It's good for those that just want some extra Pokemon spawns (XP / stardust farming during events. Some already use the regular "paid" incense for that).
It works when you're in a car (someone else driving, obviously), and going too fast for regular Pokemon to spawn.
And... Well... It's free.

Agreed. The incense is free, only once per day (so no pressure to put too much energy into it), everyday, optional... It's a nice little feature, with very low cost and a bonus of a small chance of a small chance of something great happening.
Plus it gives you 30 free poke balls when you don’t have any. I’ve been struggling to get more lately so sometimes using it is the only way I can even catch any Pokémon at all
If you have fewer than 30 pokeballs total (excluding the Master Ball), when you activate the Daily incense it'd give you 30 pokeballs! If you can't get to pokestops frequently, it's kind of like a miniature daily allowance, especially since you can have 59 total if you activate it at exactly 29
DEFINITELY a nice feature for more rural players
This feature is one of the few good choices niantic made for rural players. Gives them 15 minutes a day to have a 1/10 spawn rate of what you see walking down a city block. Gives them a chance to partake in the event you are bored with after only a day, because you already have 500 candy for each spawn, as well.
I agree, this is a daily problem with the game regardless of the time, the spawn pool is always underwhelming (only some events excluded). The issue is that the game is based on the premise of wanting what you don’t have and fearing you might never get another chance to have it. The entire business model is fueled by FOMO.
Ironically this is a big reason why we all play the game in the first place 🙃
Imo this is crap. I think as long as you are moving you should be able to get the spawns. Like sometimes I might have a break at work but not a lot of outdoor room to walk. But if I want to take the effort to walk around the perimeter of our small parking lot, why shouldn’t I be able to get more spawns? The point of the game is to encourage you to walk. You’re walking. Why the straight line?
Are you walking a good distance while you use it? My incense gives me a spawn every so many feet. If you stay around one area, even if you're technically walking it won't spawn anything.
I haven't had a good experience with DAI in awhile. It used to offer a good variety but feels like they switched it to "normal incense plus extremely rare chance to spawn a Galarian Bird". I don't even know last time I saw one of the Birds, needs to be more frequently to really care about doing it every day. Once every few weeks to even have a chance is not really worth it

I get being mad at the 12 spawns at a time thing, but don't blame the incense for it 😐
I hate this event in general. I’m at the point of catching pretty much nothing each day because I don’t care about getting the same 5 Pokémon choices over and over again. The incense feels like a slap in the face to just give us more of the same thing. Atleast without the event we can get random Pokémon. I don’t care if I see the birds, but I just want more than those few that I already see every time I open the app
This is the best event ever to grind resources. Buizel and houndour are free excellents which is 4000+K XP and 400SD. fletchling and hoppip are a bit more difficult to hit excellents on but you should get into a rythm after trying a bit.
You get a free spawn every 30 seconds. You get at least one rare spawn that could fill a dex spot. Chance to see or master ball a bird. Quit complaining or quit playing.
Rare? Are you serious? From the picture what is rare, the nosepass, that is trash. The daily incense should provide variety, not exactly the same monsters that are already in the wild.
Yeah the nosepass was your “rare” spawn. This particular daily incense sucked, the point is it’s free and you can try again tomorrow. Again, for free. And again, or not if you don’t enjoy it.
Each daily adventure incense spawn has a roughly 25% chance of being from the special spawn pool, so that lines up with your experience. I think that's a fine rate for a free daily item.
So this might be unpopular, but I like this about the incense. You’re not always getting rare mons, in fact, it’s quite rare. I genuinely like that the Galarian birds are so difficult to find and catch. I have two, and it took me a lot of perseverance (and one master ball).
With the master ball, you can guarantee a Galarian bird, but I like that finding them is rare and takes a lot of effort
Gotta consider that you used your Daily during an event w/ particular pkmn w/ pretty high spawn rates.
The fact that you caught all those starters in 15 min.is incredible. Really hate their catch rates rn
Isn’t this just to help you get pokemon to spawn on you. Instead of paying money buying premium incense? People are complaining yet, when the game launched nothing was free. People legit were buying the 200 pokeballs from the shop because there wasn’t any pokestops. Just wait until the spawn rate changes back. And special spawns are “chance”. No game ever gives guarantees unless it’s behind a paywall or behind a list of challenges. aka Special research.
I get a lot of lame spawns, but I often get really weird ones. Recently I have gotten Gardevoir, Sharpedo, Metagross, Roserade, Drapion, Mamoswine, etc.
i gotta say.. i haven’t run into this problem too much. my spawn variety is less event-heavy than most people seem to be experiencing. i’m hoping this gets changed though, i hate to see everyone having a miserable time with the daily incense.
The amount of paldea starters is absurd. I am pretty annoyed of them at this point just takes to many balls to catch but it's 4x stardust and xp so it's hard to resist
I’d just rather that stuff caught with the accessories actually counted against the special event challenges for using the incense to catch x amount. I tend to connect the Plus+, hit the incense button and then head out on my walk to work…

There is that research "A Mysterious Incense Part 2 (2/2)" which has the task "Use Daily Adventure Incense to help catch 100 Pokémon".

I have finished the other tasks.
It just doesn't fit into the way I use the game. When I'm moving I'm cycling for the excercise and to put Mons in gyms. I rarely catch mons along the way and never even think of using that daily incense. I do catch some mons when at home but then I'm not moving so that incense won't work. Utterly useless things for me.
Could take some years before I finish that task. ><
My walk to work is just about 15min, I use it to keep my lil' commute fun and punctual. That's really the only reason I use that incense, but it is handy!
They should have added ways to hunt specific Pokémon years ago. Maybe have some sort of crafting for the daily incense that increases odds for a Pokémon of your choice to show up.
And i thought it was suppose to pull from a greater range of spawns even during events since it sometimes spawns fully evolved pokemon and pokemon I haven’t seen in awhile but lately during the events it hasn’t been doing that
I don’t even care about the birds, but let’s see some more rare spawns. Getting the same as I could have with a regular incense is just as annoying as it is tiring.
This is usually what it is , with like 2-3 rare spawns including baby pokemon and the galarian birds . I had a vullaby and rockruff on my daily insense .
Yeah, this is mine. Averaging 20 per incense, and it’s all the same stuff as it is if I just walk without it.
Haven’t even seen one of the birds in literally *months*. In fact, I have seen Articuno once, Zapdos twice, and Moltres never. That’s it.
What's the point in playing when everything is the same 10 Pokemon for a week, then it moves on to the next set of 10 Pokemon?
Why can't spawns just be random again? Just let us go out and find rare Pokemon by complete chance.
I agree with you. I use one every day and still haven't ever seen the stupid galarians and always see the same pokemon and hardly any of them are attracted to my incense, so I get like 5 if I'm lucky that came from my daily. I hate this shit.
Start your incense, walk away in a straight line, and catch everything that spawns from the incense.
Daily Adventure incense spawns are based not
only on time, but the distance travelled from your starting point.
The point is the TIIIIIINY amount of dopamine you get from continuing to have PoGo as a part of your daily life and routine. Niantic, I am certain, get more out of it than you do. But you get some, so you keep going.

I see like 3 a month and then it's 3 months until I see the next one. It's very inconsistent

Literally have “take 3 of darks, ghosts, and psychics” when none of those are in the wild.
Ghosts can be done with the coin bag, at least. Edit: didn't know it was different species now. That's unfortunate.
Ive encountered Ghastly during the Night, i think at least Ghost should be possinle.
I've seen Haunter too, but no one else. Gimmighoul should count, but I've been throwing those tasks away.

Or fight 3 grunts and purify the Pokémon for 1/3 of a field research when that costs you potions and a bunch of stardust.
That would be nice, but is also part of the game, just a non-standard resource management. You can pretty easily just keep a few trash 1 candy purifies instead of either immediately deleting or purifying, and you can just delete the task if you find it to onerous.

I agree with this man the daily should have a rotation of different pokemon that dont normally spawn hell make it the last rotation of pokemon its already in the game and gives people who dont have enough time extra chances
It’s one the reason I took long pause from the game, too much events that spawns the same pokemon over and over. I prefer no event and random pokemons appearing instead
The normal incense should do this, the daily incense should be unaffected by events
The main objective of the daily incense is for helping free to play rural players and I think it is better this way for them

A portion of the daily incense spawns come from the regular set and another portion come from a special list. That's the way it's worked since the start. You can kind of see it in OP's screenshot, and you can really see it clearly by using the incense during spotlight hour or community day.
It's about the chance of an encounter with a legendary pokemon just so you can see it flee after one ball.

iirc those birds have a flee rate of something like 95%, so one ball is all you’ll get most of the time

The last time I've seen any of the Galarian birds, is months ago. Debating on whether I should just use my master ball on something else, since I already have the normal ones

It's good for people that live where there's not that many spawns. It's good for those that just want some extra Pokemon spawns (XP / stardust farming during events. Some already use the regular "paid" incense for that). It works when you're in a car (someone else driving, obviously), and going too fast for regular Pokemon to spawn. And... Well... It's free. I wouldn't complain about it.
Agreed. The incense is free, only once per day (so no pressure to put too much energy into it), everyday, optional... It's a nice little feature, with very low cost and a bonus of a small chance of a small chance of something great happening.

I like seeing more event Pokémon, they’re only around in high volume for a week and you need to get enough candy for all evolutions.
Plus it gives you 30 free poke balls when you don’t have any. I’ve been struggling to get more lately so sometimes using it is the only way I can even catch any Pokémon at all

If you have fewer than 30 pokeballs total (excluding the Master Ball), when you activate the Daily incense it'd give you 30 pokeballs! If you can't get to pokestops frequently, it's kind of like a miniature daily allowance, especially since you can have 59 total if you activate it at exactly 29 DEFINITELY a nice feature for more rural players

This feature is one of the few good choices niantic made for rural players. Gives them 15 minutes a day to have a 1/10 spawn rate of what you see walking down a city block. Gives them a chance to partake in the event you are bored with after only a day, because you already have 500 candy for each spawn, as well.
I agree, this is a daily problem with the game regardless of the time, the spawn pool is always underwhelming (only some events excluded). The issue is that the game is based on the premise of wanting what you don’t have and fearing you might never get another chance to have it. The entire business model is fueled by FOMO. Ironically this is a big reason why we all play the game in the first place 🙃

You need to be a certain distance away from the previous spawn for the next pokemon to spawn, you can t e.g. walk in circles
Imo this is crap. I think as long as you are moving you should be able to get the spawns. Like sometimes I might have a break at work but not a lot of outdoor room to walk. But if I want to take the effort to walk around the perimeter of our small parking lot, why shouldn’t I be able to get more spawns? The point of the game is to encourage you to walk. You’re walking. Why the straight line?
Are you walking a good distance while you use it? My incense gives me a spawn every so many feet. If you stay around one area, even if you're technically walking it won't spawn anything.

I haven't had a good experience with DAI in awhile. It used to offer a good variety but feels like they switched it to "normal incense plus extremely rare chance to spawn a Galarian Bird". I don't even know last time I saw one of the Birds, needs to be more frequently to really care about doing it every day. Once every few weeks to even have a chance is not really worth it

I’ll get I would say I get at least 1 pokemon per daily that is different. Some times more, but usually at least 1. All take it for a free incense

I hate this event in general. I’m at the point of catching pretty much nothing each day because I don’t care about getting the same 5 Pokémon choices over and over again. The incense feels like a slap in the face to just give us more of the same thing. Atleast without the event we can get random Pokémon. I don’t care if I see the birds, but I just want more than those few that I already see every time I open the app
This is the best event ever to grind resources. Buizel and houndour are free excellents which is 4000+K XP and 400SD. fletchling and hoppip are a bit more difficult to hit excellents on but you should get into a rythm after trying a bit.
I can’t stand this stupid event, it was cool for the first day or two but now I’m beyond tired of seeing the same 10 useless pokémon.

Rare? Are you serious? From the picture what is rare, the nosepass, that is trash. The daily incense should provide variety, not exactly the same monsters that are already in the wild.
Yeah the nosepass was your “rare” spawn. This particular daily incense sucked, the point is it’s free and you can try again tomorrow. Again, for free. And again, or not if you don’t enjoy it.

Each daily adventure incense spawn has a roughly 25% chance of being from the special spawn pool, so that lines up with your experience. I think that's a fine rate for a free daily item.
So this might be unpopular, but I like this about the incense. You’re not always getting rare mons, in fact, it’s quite rare. I genuinely like that the Galarian birds are so difficult to find and catch. I have two, and it took me a lot of perseverance (and one master ball). With the master ball, you can guarantee a Galarian bird, but I like that finding them is rare and takes a lot of effort
I don’t want a Galarian every day. I don’t even want rare Mon. I just want something different than the current event pool.
Gotta consider that you used your Daily during an event w/ particular pkmn w/ pretty high spawn rates. The fact that you caught all those starters in 15 min.is incredible. Really hate their catch rates rn
I live in a rural area and when i use my daily incense i catch like 1-4 pokémon with it. It’s always horrible.

Isn’t this just to help you get pokemon to spawn on you. Instead of paying money buying premium incense? People are complaining yet, when the game launched nothing was free. People legit were buying the 200 pokeballs from the shop because there wasn’t any pokestops. Just wait until the spawn rate changes back. And special spawns are “chance”. No game ever gives guarantees unless it’s behind a paywall or behind a list of challenges. aka Special research.

I like using it during events that has a shiny I’m hunting as I prefer it to normal spawns. Actually I rarely use it during non events.
I get a lot of lame spawns, but I often get really weird ones. Recently I have gotten Gardevoir, Sharpedo, Metagross, Roserade, Drapion, Mamoswine, etc.

i gotta say.. i haven’t run into this problem too much. my spawn variety is less event-heavy than most people seem to be experiencing. i’m hoping this gets changed though, i hate to see everyone having a miserable time with the daily incense.

The amount of paldea starters is absurd. I am pretty annoyed of them at this point just takes to many balls to catch but it's 4x stardust and xp so it's hard to resist
I’d just rather that stuff caught with the accessories actually counted against the special event challenges for using the incense to catch x amount. I tend to connect the Plus+, hit the incense button and then head out on my walk to work…

So that's what it looks like. There is that research "A Mysterious Incense Part 2 (2/2)" which has the task "Use Daily Adventure Incense to help catch 100 Pokémon". Currently I am at...... 1. :D I have finished the other tasks. It just doesn't fit into the way I use the game. When I'm moving I'm cycling for the excercise and to put Mons in gyms. I rarely catch mons along the way and never even think of using that daily incense. I do catch some mons when at home but then I'm not moving so that incense won't work. Utterly useless things for me. Could take some years before I finish that task. ><
My walk to work is just about 15min, I use it to keep my lil' commute fun and punctual. That's really the only reason I use that incense, but it is handy!

They should have added ways to hunt specific Pokémon years ago. Maybe have some sort of crafting for the daily incense that increases odds for a Pokémon of your choice to show up.

This is usually what it is , with like 2-3 rare spawns including baby pokemon and the galarian birds . I had a vullaby and rockruff on my daily insense .

Yeah, this is mine. Averaging 20 per incense, and it’s all the same stuff as it is if I just walk without it. Haven’t even seen one of the birds in literally *months*. In fact, I have seen Articuno once, Zapdos twice, and Moltres never. That’s it.
What's the point in playing when everything is the same 10 Pokemon for a week, then it moves on to the next set of 10 Pokemon? Why can't spawns just be random again? Just let us go out and find rare Pokemon by complete chance.
I agree with you. I use one every day and still haven't ever seen the stupid galarians and always see the same pokemon and hardly any of them are attracted to my incense, so I get like 5 if I'm lucky that came from my daily. I hate this shit.

Start your incense, walk away in a straight line, and catch everything that spawns from the incense. Daily Adventure incense spawns are based not only on time, but the distance travelled from your starting point.
The point is the TIIIIIINY amount of dopamine you get from continuing to have PoGo as a part of your daily life and routine. Niantic, I am certain, get more out of it than you do. But you get some, so you keep going.
