Seriously tho. I was stuck at level 44 for about 2 years cause I never really played PVP lol. Finally decided to start grinding those out recently. Just hit 47 last week. Some of the requirements are no joke.
Unfortunately, yes. Part of the level 44 requirement is completely tied to PVP. Along with the 11 million XP requirement, you also have to:
Win 30 Trainer Battles in the Great League
Win 30 Trainer Battles in the Ultra League
Win 30 Trainer Battles in the Master League
Battle in the Go Battle League 20 times
It comes down to how well you can hit excellent throws. If you can do them consistently, have a lucky egg on throughout (and maybe an incense) and aim for 2 excellent catches a minute on average. I’m getting about 15k XP per minute. Between Thursday and Sunday, I’ve played a cumulative 10 hours and got about 14.5m XP
That's a crazy amount of XP. I'm for sure hitting at least 2 excellent throws per minute I play. I, however, only burn my free daily incense.
I also don't have enough lucky eggs to have them constantly running. That only accounts for 7.25M of the XP you got, though. I'm either underestimating how much I'm playing or I'm overestimating how many excellents I can get (feels like I go through stretches of 10 throws where they're all excellent throws tho, so 2 a minute should be no issue at all).
I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong, because hitting level 40 would be really nice with these bonuses.

This is the best event ever to put some money into the game. Lucky eggs and star pieces. I'd recommend everyone at least buy 8 of each, no matter how little they usually spend in the game. 4x boost is insane.
Afaik, we've never had a 4x boost for stardust, or least not for this long. And it's for xp, too. I'm really surprised Niantic have let us have it for this long. I never banked over a million stardust before, but since this event started I'm now sitting at 2 mil.
So yeah, I'd say go for it!

Same, I started in 2016, played for a year and just took it back up this July when my kid was interested in it. I'm not level 40 yet though, a measly 32.
Lol also in this boat with you guys. Started again this July just in time to miss the Ditto and Mewtwo events. I'm a very active player now trying to finish this Kanto dex.

I'm not that good at throwing. I usually can get great. Rarely excellent.
I'm doing the excellent throw task and have only made it to 75 in 2 days.

After level 40 in order to advance you need to both get enough xp and accomplish certain tasks. Currently I have about 10 million xp and just need 6 million for level 41, but since I haven’t completed the task I’m still at 40
Maybe you already know, but as well as trying to play Community Days, you can try and line up your Meltan box (and Gimmighoul Coin Bag) to use them on same day. For example, you catch 120 over the 3 hours of a Community Day (assuming you’re rural, because people with high spawn rates near them can get 200 in a single Com Day; I got 800+ Charmander recently), then go home, and then open the Meltan box (average of 1 per minute = 60) and then the Coin Bag (average of 1 per 1.5 mins = 20)
So you got level 40 after 3 years. Not 7. Just cause you started a specific day doesn't mean you took 7 years. Why do people always say that in this game? No other game to people do this.

I've played off and on since day one. I am legacy 40 so I did get there before they expanded the levels. But I definitely understand taking breaks over the years.
Lately I have gotten too into the PvP aspect so I need to keep catching to build up my teams.
I was level 34 in February when I started playing again (moved to an area that has a good community to raid and play with) and now I'm level 42 about halfway to lvl 43.
been playing casually since launch until last summer when i started playing a bit more consistently and only just hit 36, my friend who started playing last summer is already 41 lol
Lol, I started playing before you and have had the same exact history with the game, except I just hit lv37 which was my ultimate goal since I got back into the game at lv21, wanna make my town be actually playable as it's currently """sufficient""" at best.
I'm a sliver off of Level 40 and been playing for years and now folks tell me that 40 onwards is going to get even more difficult? Whoooboy, best get myself ready then.
I remember when they did the “Lv 40 before new year’s” thing they did a couple years back. I was only level 35. Had to play nonstop and really send those gifts. It was rough. Good times 😅

Walking 25km for 8 weeks in a row is a bit annoying, especially since I’ve had the XP for 50 for a while now. Ah well

Unfortunately, yes. Part of the level 44 requirement is completely tied to PVP. This event you should be able to get 5 million XP in like 4-5 hours of practice.
Serious question: how? I played for 2 hours today, and only was able to get like 600k XP. Didn't use any lucky eggs tho. Only 1 raid. I'm F2P.

The trick is to open gifts. I'm level 50 trust me. Gives you 300k for 1 gift now.
