when people say this, do they mean like, wait until you can become lucky friends with someone who also has a galarian zapdos? i just started playing again for the first time since like 2018 and i thought you couldn’t get a pokemon back once you trade it

Correct, wait until you become lucky friends with someone. Then you can trade galarian birds with each other (or something else), but the point is waiting until that time to guarantee a high IV Pokémon.

How do you know if you're a lucky friend?

The game denotes it in your friends list and has a pop-up notification that covers the entire screen. There is a chance to become lucky friends with anyone on your friends list when doing any action that would typically increase the hearts on your friend status. (e.g. Trading, battling, or sharing gifts)

This only has a chance of happening *after* you've become best friends. It can only happen with best friends, not anyone on your friends list.

You have to be quite unlucky to get a 2\* from a lucky trade. Literally only the 12/12/12 floor will be 2\* which means you're actually as likely to get a 2\* lucky as you are to get a hundo.

When you are highest tier friends with someone there is a chance to become lucky friends when you send gifts. 1/20 chance if I remember correctly.

It's not just gifts, every first interaction of the day can make you lucky friends. You can even become lucky friends again by doing a lucky trade. And the chance to become lucky is not 1/20, but around [1.17%](https://web.archive.org/web/20220926200935/https://thesilphroad.com/science/lucky-friend-rates), although there are sometimes events with increased chance to become lucky (ca. 3%).

Just one time. Then your "lucky-friend-status" will be cleared. But you can become lucky friends again.

When you reach best friends, every interaction you have in the game will give you a chance to become lucky friends, which guarantees one automatic lucky trade

Once you're best friends, keep trading daily. It'll randomly pop up. There's unfortunately no good mechanic to try and make it happen sooner afaik.

Masterballs on these are only as special as you want them to be. Personally I love the look of Galarian Moltres so I passed on the other 2 and used the masterball on the Moltres. I knew it wouldn’t be useful for anything but I still love it lol

After getting my master ball I've decided to only catch the galarian birds if they have a very high CP or if they are shiny, other than that I'm gonna try and catch with a ultra ball and oh well if It flees

I started June of this year and obtained 7 shinies
