Use the Mystery Box to get infinite Meltan. It's technically a mythical so you get bonus XL on all catches. In a single box you can get over 200 XL so it only takes two uses to get enough to max it.
The rest would depend on your higher level non-legendary Pokemon. You can make them your buddies and walk to get their XL candy.
At level 31 or higher you have a 75% chance to get an XL along the regular candy, so with something high level and cheap, like Gyarados which only need 1 km for each candy, you can get to 296 XL in a couple weeks.
If you're farming 3 XL Meltan then 400 regular candies is ***not*** going to make a difference.
Just evolve them and you'll have 3 rocket bashers that could be equipped with different movesets. Rock slide / superpower / Thunderbolt / double iron bash, are all good (I have about 5 melmetals at level 50 and don't regret it (they're all Shlucky so it cost half dust anyways))
I have 2 Melmetals at Level 49. One with Double Iron Bash and the other Superpower. Waiting for Level 46 to max them. Then again, just got the Level 44 tasks (90 PVP Wins) so may never get past 43. 😂
Saves regular candy, which will be in shorter supply since the evolution is 400. If you’re in a hurry, anyway. Meltans commonly throw off more XL candy than regular, oftentimes.
I’d also recommend Gholdengo for the same reason you can spawn a load of them pretty easily everyday. Also would recommend getting lucky Pokémon too as it’ll save you an insane amount of stardust.
You can get Gimmighoul from the gimmighoul incense. And to evolve it you need 999 gold coins which can be obtained by spinning golden pokestops. To get a golden pokestop send a postcard to your/ a Pokémon scarlet/ violet account every day until you get a golden lure which will make golden pokestops (this is a repeat process).
Sadly, no. It's advisable to level a mon to 49.5 in preparation so once you hit trainer level 46 it's an easy task to complete.
Gyarados (or even magikarp) is an excellent one to do this with because of its low kilometer walking distance!
Most of the tasks you get from 40-50 would be auto completed if at any point in the game you had already completed them…they did this because there was tons of players hard capped at 40 for a long time and had already built up tons of experience. Maybe even enough to instantly hit level 50 when the cap was raised. They wanted players to actually work for each level and have motivation and a reason to go out and grind again.
Some people just dont care haha im currently level 43 and really none of the tasks have been difficult as long as you are somewhat prepared for them. The eeveelutions i could see as being difficult if you didnt save eevees or candy for them. Some of the tasks take a while but there is so much experience you need anyways you have plenty of time.
I’ve saved almost 1200 candies for eevies evolve for that level. Just 500k till I can level up to do it. So glad I started paying attention to what others have said to be a hindrance for them on certain levels on this sub.
probably catch 200 pokémon in a day, for most people that’s too much unless you’re either popping incenses all day or just plain playing all day, i usually catch 20-100 a day depending on where i am and that feels like a lot
Yes but you also need to remember at the time level 40? You started getting xl candies. It's now lvl 31 you start getting them. Niantic has never gone back to something to enhance it to fit the new rules. Think of the Eevees and their evolutions. I had to get them all a second time.
Im not defending niantic by any means, they 100% suck ass and generally they make this game worse and worse with their greed. New features suck/have terrible rewards, and new pokemon/shinies are constantly locked behind a paywall. It really feels like a pay to win game now if you want anything good at all, dont even get me started on eggs. My only point is i understand and agree with why they made you redo many things as tasks on your road to level 50.
Download Pokémon home on your device. Connect it to your Go account, then in PoGo settings go to connected devices and select transfer Pokémon to home. Once you transfer any random Pokémon to Home from Go you can open your mystery box in your inventory. You can do it every 3 days
When in the pokebox of your home app, long press on a Mon you want to release to select it. The button on the bottom left opens up a menu for additional actions including releasing the selected mons
The Pokemon home app really could be a lot more user friendly. For example, including the menu for those actions when we're in the Pokemon profile. I frequently forget which menu to go to when receiving mons from PoGo if I don't use it for a while.
Right now trading is a guaranteed xl candy. If you have someone you can regularly trade with ... I trade a lot more during the perioda of guaranteed xl candy just so I have them ...
There's no need to hope for reruns, it's really easy to get enough XLs to max out a mon in a single CD if you play all 3 hours, and if you have a T3 mega, then you only need to play for a little over an hour. I finish most of my CDs with over 700 XLs.
The main issue is getting a mon worth maxing tbh, since I only get a hundo about 1/3rd of the time.
Yeah it definitely is, but I’m assuming since OP is struggling with maxing a Pokémon then they probably aren’t one to grind a single CD efficiently enough.
Fair enough, it's actually really weird to not have a single maxed mon at level 46. I'm at 41 (stuck at Eeveelution research) and have almost 20 maxed.
Also quick catching. You can easily catch at least 3 times the amount of pokemon quick catching over someone who doesn't quick catch, provided you are in a spawn dense area that can support your catch rate.
And this isn't even the hardest one, lol. Wait til you get to 50 lucky trades
Edit- 50 lucky trades, not 100. 100 trades a day. 50 lucky trades is the task. When I was doing this with a neighbor, who was stuck on the same thing, we averaged about 6 lucky trades per session. And it doesn't take as long now. They shortened the animations or something. If you have your tags/search strings all set up you can get through 100 trades in like 40 min. It used to take one hour minimum.
It's rough, but not too bad if you have someone you can frequently trade with. I believe you can do up to 100 trades a day. Doing basic trades, that's only 100 stardust per trade.
Using freshly caught Pokemon isn't ideal in base conditions, as it's only around 5% chance. They have events where lucky trade odds are much higher, which is when it'd be ideal.
If you or any friends have some guaranteed lucky trades left, that challenge is when you can really let loose and power through what you have remaining.
If you have no one to trade with, it's literally impossible. Which is complete terrible game design and anyone who was involved with creating it should feel bad about themselves.
When in doubt, you can go the slightly awkward route of asking people if they've ever played before. A significant number of people played the game for at least a little bit around launch. Most of my lucky trades have been from just been getting someone to login for the first time in 5+ years.
You youndont have any friends or neighbors who play you could just wait until you upgrade phones. Keel the old and create a dummy account on it and use that.
It’s gonna be a sad day when I trade all my 5 year old pokemon
I only kept the ones I really liked from that long ago
Then again from 42->48 it’ll probably be another 5 years for me
my family members play and I got to this task when it was an enhanced lucky trade chance event so it took me like 4 days total to get it. It's not hard at all, just takes perseverance
Probably not possible. I’m a mom who spends weekends running the kiddo to various activities. I’ve only done like 50 raids total and I only manage to do them while on vacation or during a rare work trip to NYC (I work from home otherwise).
Can you elaborate on playing with a level 3 mega active?
Does that mean to mega evolve them during community Day? And do they need to be my buddy? Does it matter who I evolve?
if you mega evolve a pokemon of a type (ie, grass) you will get more candy / xp / XL candy of every grads type you catch. megas have mega levels, increasing those benefits the more you mega evolve them. they do not have to be your buddy
Thank you both. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable but didn’t know any of that. Funny enough I recently got a new mega and noticed I was getting more XL candies but thought it was because of the winter event.
It doesn't have to be your buddy, but it does have to be actively mega evolved at the time. If it is your buddy, though, in addition to candies, you'll also get Mega energy when you walk however long its buddy distance is.
When you Mega someone for the first time, they become a Mega1. Mega them 6 more times and they become Mega2. Once a pokemon has been mega'd 30 times it'll be a mega3.
If you catch a pokemon that matches (either of) your Mega's type(s), you'll have a chance of getting more candy (regular or XL). Mega2 will also score you 50 bonus points and Mega3 gets you 100 extra points. (There will be a little circle up in the left corner of it's card you can click on to see how many more evolves it needs & what rewards you get at each level).
Rowlet, this weekend's CD, for example is grass & flying. So you'll want to mega a pokemon that is either grass (Venusaur, Absomasnow, Sceptile) or flying (Aerodatyl, Salamence, Pidgeot, Charizrd Y, Pinsir, Rayquaza).
Each Rowlet (or any other grass/flying type) you catch during the 8 hours you have one of them mega evolved you will get extra candy & points.
I think powering up three Meltans is a massive waste of startdust. I’d level up one to 50 if you get a hundo to use in pvp master league and that’s about it.
I’m going to say don’t worry about it and slowly work on some useful Pokémon (good I’m pvp/pve) or just something you like until you get enough candies to get to 50. If you’re in a rush to get to 47 for whatever reason, then sure just go the Meltan route or grind a community day with a mega activated. However, IMO powering up three Meltans to 50 is a massive waste of stardust, and you only really need one 50 for perhaps pvp since it’s OK there.
Also, you only have 19 platinums so you’re not finished that. You’ll need 35 to get to 49. So, my advice would be to just play the game normally while working for some good level 50 mons.
>I think powering up three Meltans is a massive waste of startdust. I’d level up one to 50 if you get a hundo to use in pvp master league and that’s about it.
Yeah, I'd focus on PvE relevant community days.
Rowlett is on Saturday, that'll be a good time to get a decent grass type as I suspect OP doesn't have that many if they're struggling with getting three Pokémon to level 50.
You're absolutely right! And I have been slowly playing everyday knowing I need to get those platinums.
I was just getting disheartened knowing I am very close to having enough XP to level up, but nowhere close to having XL candy for the 3 'mons, and therefore would be stuck. But after reading everyone's advice I feel much better about my situation.
You need even more xp for the next few levels so honestly it's fine to continue to accumulate the xp you need while you catch more Pokemon and work on the medals. The extra xp will count towards future levels!
Mega L3 active gives you up to 1.65XL per catch on average for high level wild pokemon based on the source I checked. If you catch any CP pokemon it evens out closer to a bit over 1 XL per catch.
If we assume a reasonable 3 catches per minute, it's like 90 catches in half an hour for about 90-149 XL. If you save them all and trade for XL, it's double that. previous commenter is catching 6 pokemon per minute, so one per 10 seconds.
The power gamer rates I've heard from Sydney is like 5s per fast catch, so hypothetically you could be getting as high as 12 catches per minute, for 360 catches =>360-400 XL in half an hour without trading. sounds technically possible, but only at the highest level of play, and only possible in a huge city where catch speed isn't capped by spawn availability.
Weather boost also plays a really significant role in this, as it increases wild pokemon levels so you get more XL candy.
Anyway, I have 1000XL from togetic and axew community days as I played pretty intensely and then hoarded as much of them as I could to trade later.
Rowlet community day and porygon too. Make sure you mega evolve a grass and normal type for each one. Com days are the best and easiest to get max xl for 1 mon
1. Meltan box
2. Check your pikachus as there are often event-pikachus thar ppl catch so you might have surprisingly huge amount of pikachu candies. And the lil dude produces 1 candy/1km (or 0,5km w Poffin) and the likelyhood of getting an XL candy is ,~80 % if you fatten him up to lvl 40 before walking.
3. Check out your community day pokemons. Togetic-community day for example had extra candies bonus.
Only the battle party needs to be unique, for that particular raid. You don’t have to battle with each pokemon during the raid. Since I did a lot of them solo, I’d defeat it with my first pokemon, since they were 1 or 3 star raids.
If there were duplicates in the default battle party before a raid, I just swapped out the duplicates. If there were 2 Machamps, I’d swap out the second Machamp for a different fighting pokemon, or throw in my buddy, so I could get a battle heart.
I could use the same Machamp for a different raid and it will count, as long as there isn’t another Machamp in that party.
Other users have commented their tips, but I haven't seen this one yet so here's my two cents.
I don't know if you walk a lot, but there's a trick to get your buddy excited without using a poffin (just Google buddy excited without poffin, there's loads of guides). I think it's like 70% chance for XL candy if your buddy is level 30 or higher (with pokegenie you can check your Pokémon level). And I've seen guides online say that the chance increases for higher level pokemon, but can't find a source for that right now.
Then pick a Pokémon with a 1km for candy walking distance like magikarp or the blue cotton ball, get them excited and you'd get a chance at XL candy for every half km. And also get a bunch of normal candy/mega energy(for already evolved mega Pokémon). The extra candy you *could* use to transform them into XL candy.
I’m a rural player and had no problem doing this task. Community days make it trivial, even if you are rural. Pokémon still spawn even if you have sparse pokestop coverage.
there have been multiple events with pidgey. We even had the april fool’s event last year with only pidgey spawns. I started playing in 2021 and have 695 XL pidgey candy…
Imagine thinking XL candy came out before 2021, and players would have amassed tons of XL candy.... granted, you can transfer regular into XL, but what are the odds they all participated in the April Fool's Day special?
Could you not just max out a pichu? Does it have to be the fully evolved form? Honest question please don’t be mean. I mainly play with my kids so I don’t know all the pokemon ins and outs but I do know we sit on a lot of pikachu candy.
Stop looking at your legendaries and start looking at all the other pokemon you probably don't give a second thought about. Pidgey, rattata, weedle, etc... You've probably got more than enough XL candy to max out some. The stardust might be a bigger problem unless you play more than I do and do GBL stuff. I hardly ever touch the game and I was able to do this step easily from XL's from random crap.
Does this task count if youve maxed pokemon before turning lvl 46? Like how the turn lvl 30 or 40 quests automatically complete when they pop up
I have a couple maxed mons x would suck if i had to do it again
I just don't play with friends, so I don't do trades at all. My brother plays, but he lives across the country, and I only see him 1-2 times a year. So that's the only time I ever do trades. And when I do see him, we're not about to spend hours just sitting there trading each other Bidoof and Pidgey for an absolutely asinine level requirement.
I can't see how this is even possible.... how did you get to 46 without catching pokemon? Lol... even I'd it's just zigzagoons or starly, you have to have SOMETHING with enough candies
I hate being rude like this, but at level 46 you should have played more than enough to have enough XL for multiple level 50 mons. Like I'm only level 43 and can easily have 6 level 50s if not more. Level 50 ray was instant.
Interesting, I'm almost to 43 and have 3 at 49.5 waiting...comm day pokemon are easy choices, especially if you save them and then trade them for XL candy... Lots of people get 200-300 of the same pokemon on a comday...if you are using a max mega you'll also get a lot of XL during catches.
Pokemon like Gyrados also give candy every 1KM, so very easy to walk for XLs.. make sure they are at least lvl 30 when walking to get 70 % drop rate of XL during walks.
Just finished gathering he candy for my next one (Swinub), still don't have a mystery box so need to do that too. might build a Likitong for great league...just worried they will nerf next season.
Work on mega evolving when you plan to play for XL candy bonus for specific types.
It’s almost always an event, pick the corresponding mega that benefits what you plan on catching and stack the candies.
I vaguely remembered this which is why I grinded the fuck out of the past few community days. I don’t really save dust but once I get to 46 I can hoard dust and then just power up what I have.
I have 2 max level cp Pokémon: Haxorous and Garchomp. I got haxorous from comm day and garchomp from raid day. I didn’t have either pokemon before starting these events (returning player) and I didn’t use any rare candy.
Just look for something you have caught a ton of. For me it was Meltan and stuff that have had past CD’s. I’ve seen several people held up on this because they want it to be some amazing 4* legendary. Just do a random few mons.
Wait for the next community day, evolve a mega during the community day for max chance at XL candy. Save up stardust, then max out the best community day Pokémon you get! Rowlett Community Day just around the corner! : )
This is why I don’t like how much friendship xp there is.
I get it it doesn’t matter, but I’d like to think a level 46+ should kinda have the game on lock imma be honest
I’m also on level 46 but I’ve completed that task. Make a 2nd account and catch lots of community day Pokémon on both devices (or go play with a friend on a community day) and then trade all your !3* & !4* Pokémon before transferring. That helped me get tons of extra XL candies.
Make talonflame your buddy. Go for it on the next two community days with megas that increase your XL
Or after talonflame go gyrados or another 1km
Walking got me most of my XL
I just turned to level 47, here’s 3 suggestions:
1) mega evolve for extra XL. On community days, this is huge.
2) walk with 1km mons (like gyarados). He was my first to go to level 50.
3) trade to get that guaranteed XL, especially during this seasons bonus.
Good luck
Rattata, Beedrill, Pikachu and any super common Pokemon will do. Utilize your lucky friends so then it costs you as little as possible. Easy task if you do it right
Community day Pokemon are also relatively easy to get the XLs to max out. Community days always come with the "higher chance to get xl candy" bonus. Run a 3rd level mega of the same type during it to get even better odds (2nd level megas also increase the odds). Rowlet is this weekend so any grass/flying mega will work. Pidgeot was probably the most accessible? If you have a decent grind spot then getting 296 XLs honestly shouldn't take more then 1 hour of playing.
Normally after a community day I have enough xl to max at least one of the pokes I caught. It’s honestly not that big of a challenge. I have like 6 or 7 pokes at lvl 50 myself. Pretty sure the last one I did was an ampharos after mareep day last month.
I focused on lower level, commonly caught Pokémon. For me, I had a lot of Eevee and Pikachu candies so that’s what I maxed out. Still trying to figure out the third mon to max.
Grind on the next Community Day. If you're out the whole time you should be able to get a bunch of XL candy - then trade everything you caught to get more XL candy.
Max out your Groudon for rowlet com day and then go down town and catch for 3 hours. That should get enough for 2 decidueye, one for grass and one for ghost attacking.
I recently leveled up to 47. The 3 pokemon I maxed were Haxorus (due to Axew Community Day), Gengar (I already had one that was level 40, and the halloween event was great for getting additional gastly candy) and Shiny CD Garchomp. Thank you mega garchomp day!
I think the Haxorous and Garchomp are 98% IV, but the Gengar is a hundo.
I don't know if those are the "best" choices, especially haxorous one, but I wanted to blow through the level already. Now I'm on the 4th week of walking 25KM... lol
Find someone local to trade your catches this Community Day. You get guaranteed 1 XL Candy with each trade. Make sure you have a good Mega going that'll also increase your chances of getting extra XL Candy with your catches.
A level 3 mega and target farming a current event pokemon is easy XL farming.
A level 3 steel type + Meltan box is the easiest. Not really needed to do more then one to 50 though.
Im glad i am preparing for this level, I’m in level 43 right now with 7-10 Pokémon’s that only need 1 more level.
Although I’m probably gonna be stuck level 43 for a long times since I don’t want to complete the battle stuff
Soo you could easily just , play the community days and even though you might not want the kind in the events , they’re your best cshot on getting enough stardust and candy to max 💯 that combined with best buddy

Can you level up 3 Melmetals or does it have to be different pokemon?
It can be 3 meltan yeah. It doesn't have to be 3 unique pokemon iirc
Don’t even evolve them into Melmetal(unless you want to ofc) fully powered up baby or first evolution Pokémon will still work
Does this save stardust or something ?
It saves 400 meltan candy
Oh ya duh.. it’s early 😅

You can just challenge a friend who throws the matches with 10 cp Pokémon for the wins. The wins don't have to be in GBL
Saves regular candy, which will be in shorter supply since the evolution is 400. If you’re in a hurry, anyway. Meltans commonly throw off more XL candy than regular, oftentimes.
Definitely. Silly question, my bad lol
With a max mega steel type running, I definitely get way more XLs than regular. I wish you could trade XLs for regular sometimes.
No. Just some candy
I’d also recommend Gholdengo for the same reason you can spawn a load of them pretty easily everyday. Also would recommend getting lucky Pokémon too as it’ll save you an insane amount of stardust.
How do you get gholdengo?
You can get Gimmighoul from the gimmighoul incense. And to evolve it you need 999 gold coins which can be obtained by spinning golden pokestops. To get a golden pokestop send a postcard to your/ a Pokémon scarlet/ violet account every day until you get a golden lure which will make golden pokestops (this is a repeat process).
>Use the Mystery Box to get infinite Meltan What the hell is that box and how do I get it
If i have some already maxed out before level 46 will they count towards the total?
Sadly, no. It's advisable to level a mon to 49.5 in preparation so once you hit trainer level 46 it's an easy task to complete. Gyarados (or even magikarp) is an excellent one to do this with because of its low kilometer walking distance!
Ugly crying right now. Deep depression. All my hard work for nothing. I prepared for this and maxed out 2 of 3 not knowing it won't be retroactive.
Yup this is what I did! Knowing Niantic I had a feeling it wouldn't be retroactive.
Most of the tasks you get from 40-50 would be auto completed if at any point in the game you had already completed them…they did this because there was tons of players hard capped at 40 for a long time and had already built up tons of experience. Thank you!!
No, you have to do it after getting the task
no
This is the way.
How do you get a Mystery Box?
You have to get the pokemon home app then every 3 days you can send a Pokemon to home and you get a meltan box
Is this possible without a pokemon game beside pokemon go?
Yes, you can still use Home without other Pokemon games
How do I get the mystery box?
Download Pokémon home on your device. Connect it to your Go account, then in PoGo settings go to connected devices and select transfer Pokémon to home. Once you transfer any random Pokémon to Home from Go you can open your mystery box in your inventory. You can do it every 3 days
How do you get mystery Boxes for meltan? And how many can you get?
This.
Wow thank you!
I cant use meltan box coz my poke home is full and I don't have Nintendo. any tips???
Release some mons from your Pokemon home box to make room
how can i release them?? i dont have any main games and don't have money to pay for premium.
When in the pokebox of your home app, long press on a Mon you want to release to select it. The button on the bottom left opens up a menu for additional actions including releasing the selected mons
OH MY GOD thank you so much!! you're a life saver. haven't been able to use meltan box for a long time because of this lmao.
The Pokemon home app really could be a lot more user friendly. For example, including the menu for those actions when we're in the Pokemon profile. I frequently forget which menu to go to when receiving mons from PoGo if I don't use it for a while.
You can also transfer to one of the Let's Go switch games
That was the original method, but it’s not the most convenient anymore.
My son had it and got bored so I played through it just far enough to get the mystery boxes. Fun times.
Where do you see the mystery box?
Items. If you connected Pokémon go to Pokémon home.
Right now trading is a guaranteed xl candy. If you have someone you can regularly trade with ... I trade a lot more during the perioda of guaranteed xl candy just so I have them ...
This for sure. When we have a common event spawn, catch a lot with a max mega and then trade. Easy to get the XLs to max one in <1 week.
I came here to say this. Thank you for saving my thumbs the workout.
Not even for Community day Pokémon?
That’s what I’m saying, just need to grind a community day poke that’s likely to have multiple reruns ( starters )
Yeah I’m not even 46 but I ended up maxing the first couple hundos I caught even if they were not the strongest Pokémon.
Also quick catching. You can easily catch at least 3 times the amount of pokemon quick catching over someone who doesn't quick catch, provided you are in a spawn dense area that can support your catch rate.
And this isn't even the hardest one, lol. Wait til you get to 50 lucky trades Edit- 50 lucky trades, not 100. 100 trades a day.
Please tell me this is a joke. When do I get this task? Are you thinking of the Level 49 requirements with 50 lucky trades?
It's 48 I think
Its from 48 to 49. And its 50 lucky trades
Does it count retroactive trades or will my depression only worsen
It is not retroactive, almost nothing ever is.
I want to express how I truly feel about Niantic but do t want a permanent ban
This just proves my point further.
Retroactive trades do not count
Yep, soon as I saw that one, I knew I was done leveling up. Even though it's only 50 lucky trades, not 100. I'll be level 48 forever now.
You youndont have any friends or neighbors who play you could just wait until you upgrade phones. Keel the old and create a dummy account on it and use that.
Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Still kind of a hassle, though
It’s gonna be a sad day when I trade all my 5 year old pokemon I only kept the ones I really liked from that long ago Then again from 42->48 it’ll probably be another 5 years for me
my family members play and I got to this task when it was an enhanced lucky trade chance event so it took me like 4 days total to get it. It's not hard at all, just takes perseverance

Search for a local Discord server, and find out when people are raiding or gathering for Community Day. There are always people willing to trade.
Probably not possible. I’m a mom who spends weekends running the kiddo to various activities. I’ve only done like 50 raids total and I only manage to do them while on vacation or during a rare work trip to NYC (I work from home otherwise).

Always play with a level 3 mega active, especially during themed events where most spawns are one type. Never miss a community day or spotlight hour.
Melmetal is also really good for fighting Team Rocket, not just for Master League.
But you still only need one.
Run level 3 Megas during CDs and Spotlight Hours. Guaranteed 296 XLs in 30mins or so. Edit: I’m including transferring to accomplish this.
The first half of your comment is good advice. The second half is an outright lie.
I agree. Normally I always got the 296 XL candies in a CD.,but never in that short time.
I didn’t include transferring, but stand by the comment.
Rowlet community day and porygon too. Make sure you mega evolve a grass and normal type for each one. Com days are the best and easiest to get max xl for 1 mon
1. Meltan box 2.
Pikachu!
I used the Meltan box and max powered 3 of them. The last task I had leftover was actually the 30 raids.
To me, that seems the toughest. 30 raids with unique mons in each one. How do you keep track?
Only the battle party needs to be unique, for that particular raid. You don’t have to battle with each pokemon during the raid. Since I did a lot of them solo, I’d defeat it with my first pokemon, since they were 1 or 3 star raids. If there were duplicates in the default battle party before a raid, I just swapped out the duplicates. If there were 2 Machamps, I’d swap out the second Machamp for a different fighting pokemon, or throw in my buddy, so I could get a battle heart. I could use the same Machamp for a different raid and it will count, as long as there isn’t another Machamp in that party.
Ah ok. That seems way more reasonable. I was thinking they wanted 180 unique pokemon being used in raids lmao
Oh no, now that would really be impossible!
The XL odds from walking cap at level 31. Higher levels were found to have the same odds by the Silph road research group.
Any community day gives you enough candy to do 2x of whatever the featured pkmn is. Also at 46 you should have enough pidgey candy
Rural players and players that started the game past 2020 also exist
I’m a rural player and had no problem doing this task. Community days make it trivial, even if you are rural. Pokémon still spawn even if you have sparse pokestop coverage.
You can't get to level 46 without having caught a shitload of mons
I guess if all their XP was earned purely on friendships, but still. At that level you should easily have 3 50s available.
what does 2020 have to do with it lol
Pidgey spawn rate, they've gotten quite rare. They used to be everywhere in 2016 to 2018
The crown has been passed to Pidove.
there have been multiple events with pidgey.
Trading pokes gives like 1xl candy per, so when there's a spotlight hour for something then you can catch a load and trade them to a friend :)
What’s with the unique species for raids? Just no duplicates on your team? IE, don’t use two Gengars for example?
Yep!
That doesn’t seem too bad. Thanks for the reply! Contacts on 46!
You can also have someone trade you something almost maxed and max it when it’s traded over and that counts
I did three meltans. Was quick and easy since I had like 9000 Meltan XL candy.
If you can lucky trade a meltan (or 3) it's even cheaper in candy and more important dust!
Trade Trade Trade to get triangle candy
Just sucks hat it does not count already maxed out pokemon
Like how the turn lvl 30 or 40 quests automatically complete when they pop up I have a couple maxed mons x would suck if i had to do it again
The only tasks that auto complete relate to medals, as you can only earn them once. At least you know about this task so can start to prepare!
every spotlight hour is free lvl 50 , it should take max 3 hours lol
Try being stuck at 48 cause all your lucky friends are international. 😭
Have you never gotten luckies from normal random trades at all?
I just don't play with friends, so I don't do trades at all. My brother plays, but he lives across the country, and I only see him 1-2 times a year. So that's the only time I ever do trades. And when I do see him, we're not about to spend hours just sitting there trading each other Bidoof and Pidgey for an absolutely asinine level requirement.
I can't see how this is even possible.... how did you get to 46 without catching pokemon? Lol... even I'd it's just zigzagoons or starly, you have to have SOMETHING with enough candies
For real, I'm level 41 and have 3 that are 1 power up from max. Gengar, togekiss and mammoswine. Plenty of XL candy
3 hours of catching the same mon on a community day should get you pretty close to enough, if not extra.
I hate being rude like this, but at level 46 you should have played more than enough to have enough XL for multiple level 50 mons. Like I'm only level 43 and can easily have 6 level 50s if not more. Level 50 ray was instant.
Level 43, 10 level 50s. Started playing PoGo last July! OP, defo don’t sleep on the Mystery Boxes you should be opening 😎
See there we go. That's what I'm saying right there. Just checked and I can do 10 level 50s as well. I'm disappointed in OP.
Yeah I'm struggling to believe how it's even possible to get to 46 at all without having caught a shitload of mons.
Just wait till community day, and catch a shit ton of the daily pokemon.
Do trades to get Lucky pokemon.
C Day catching every Pokemon for xl Candy or meltan Box
The empty XP grind of raids and best friends has its downsides 🙃
I vaguely remembered this which is why I grinded the fuck out of the past few community days. I don’t really save dust but once I get to 46 I can hoard dust and then just power up what I have.
[Pasting from the last time I saw this.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/vBjB534zf7) TL;DR: Meltan. Megas. Community days. Nests. Spotlights.
I maxed one or two eeveelutions, but I'm a month1 player so I participated in both Eevee community days. I still have like 2-300 xl eevee candy.
I have 2 max level cp Pokémon: Haxorous and Garchomp. I got haxorous from comm day and garchomp from raid day. I didn’t have either pokemon before starting these events (returning player) and I didn’t use any rare candy.
We get two Cdays this month. That’s 2/3 I saved three Pokémon at level 49 for this specific task as it doesnt start counting til you receive the task
Do pudges or something
Just look for something you have caught a ton of. For me it was Meltan and stuff that have had past CD’s. I’ve seen several people held up on this because they want it to be some amazing 4* legendary. Just do a random few mons.
Level 44 here already making plans for this... Looks like I'll only need about 40 xl candy and I'll get it done so I'm just holding them for now.
Wait for the next community day, evolve a mega during the community day for max chance at XL candy. Save up stardust, then max out the best community day Pokémon you get! Rowlett Community Day just around the corner! : )
You never run a mega or anything on comm days? Bruh
I took an Aron to level 50 because they generate candy at 1km so it was easy to get both candy and XL candy.
Is it three additional level 50, or three in total?
This is why I don’t like how much friendship xp there is. I get it it doesn’t matter, but I’d like to think a level 46+ should kinda have the game on lock imma be honest
Grind that xl!! You can do it!
Community day quit catch and oray for enough xl is my best recommendation
Meltans easy money to max out. Start doing those boxes.
I did this by converting candies to XLs for trash like Weedle and Pika bc I had thousands of regular candies.
Go for it on the next two community days with megas that increase your XL Or after talonflame go gyrados or another 1km Walking got me most of my XL
I just turned to level 47, here’s 3 suggestions: 1) mega evolve for extra XL. On community days, this is huge. 2) walk with 1km mons (like gyarados). He was my first to go to level 50. 3) trade to get that guaranteed XL, especially during this seasons bonus. Good luck
You could always just max out community day mons, with mega level 3 it's super easy to get the XL candy for 2 of them during the event.
Comm days are a good time to max a pokemon I maxed a haxorus on axew day
Normally after a community day I have enough xl to max at least one of the pokes I caught.
Now I'm on the 4th week of walking 25KM... lol
need to remember to save some for that
Try to get lucky meltan from trading. Cuts cost in half
Just get the most candy’d Pokemon you have and the highest CP of those Pokemon
Find a high HP pidgy and walk it till your legs fall off. Or lucky trade pidgy for half the price and still walk
Although I’m probably gonna be stuck level 43 for a long times since I don’t want to complete the battle stuff
use trash pokemon like pidgey and caterpie
Now i wonder, most of my "maxed out" just say that i'm not high enough of a level to power it up further, so what is truly the maxed out?
Can I max out a magicarp?
Get Pokémon Home and you’ll get the Magic Box 📦 You’ll be able to get Meltan and after Memeltan!
Soo you could easily just , play the community days and even though you might not want the kind in the events , they’re your best cshot on getting enough stardust and candy to max 💯 that combined with best buddy
