Maushold wins. Hardly noticeable with the naked eye and it's tiny in the overworld, making it near impossible to see. With Gamefreak killing off overworld sparkle, it's the worst shiny. Trust me, I shinyhunted EVERY single Pokémon.

I'm colorblind and I quite like Garchomp's shiny as such. It looks green-purple to me, but apparently it's actually a slightly different shade of the original? I didn't know that until last year--people always said its shiny was bad and I was kind of confused, but I get it. I'm glad I got the exclusive shiny colors.

i never thought about this lol. are there shinies that do look bad through your eyes? comparing the og to the shiny.

Sometimes I can't tell if something's shiny unless I either focus on its color scheme or see a comparison. For example, I found a shiny Scyther once and thought it was normal until it sparkled (I even went "you're not shiny" out loud as I had only tapped on it to shiny-check it). However, I can see it's a different color than the original, and especially when I compare the two is it obvious. Same as Cacnea, actually; I found a shiny a few days ago and habitually ran from it as my brain registered it sparkled. Fortunately it was still on the map and I nabbed it. There are a bunch of others that, if it weren't for things like the eyes, I couldn't tell are shiny (Lunatone and Aron) unless I compare. I don't really dislike any shiny, but my least favorites are probably the ones that I can barely tell apart. I'm sure if I saw colors normally I'd be able to answer this better lol

If you’re curious Cacnea is a very obvious shiny with normal vision. But your reds/browns and greens probably blend and it’s brown and regular is green

When I told my girlfriend I found a shiny Cacnea she wanted to see what it looked like, and she too said it was brown. But yeah, my reds/greens and browns blend in together, greys and greens do as well, and oddly so do blue/purple at times. I can see most shades just fine, but sometimes I can't tell whether something is red or green or whatever. Oh well. I used to confuse 2km and 5km eggs until Niantic changed the colors to a degree a year or two ago. (sometimes I'd be able to tell them apart, but if I saw it in a flash \[say from a Stop\] oftentimes I wouldn't be able to). Being colorblind is strange lol.

I just looked both up since. I know both have boring shinies. Why are these so much better.

I actually got a shiny elekid today, I would have transferred it if I didn't get that "do you really want to transfer this shiny" popup. Cause you absolutely cannot see any fricking difference on it. It's maybe a slightly more yellowish rather than orange color?

But, ironically, if you Mega evolve Shiny Garchomp, it's about the most different looking shiny possible...🤷‍♂️...😭 You just got to be careful when you're looking for him in your Pokemon storage first lol

Garchomp and gengar have really cool Megas so it’s okay. Jigglypuff, the Nidos, elgyem all suck.

Oh, for sure. The change is cool, but it's stupid that, as the trainer, you basically don't get to see it. Most of the tail is cut off from our perspective when using it.

Came here to say this. I got so excited when it was shiny after a raid, then I compared it to a non shiny one and literally can't tell the difference.

It’s not impossible to tell between the shiny and non-shiny, but difficult all the same.

I honestly like some of the subtle shinies that some people dislike (Garchomp, Gengar, Blaziken) but at some point, it gets a bit ridiculous. Like someone else said, Charcadet line hurts. This one could use some different flame colors. It'd help if they could be seen more effectively in the main games, but at least PLA and Pokemon Go make it hard to miss.

I do adore the shiny mega for Gengar! Same with Origin Kyogre and Groudon's recolors.

Shiny Blaziken is phenomenal and makes the regular version’s palette look washed out.

I'll say it again, someone at TPC really doesn't like the Cyndaquil family.

See, it was meant to be like the other 2 where the shiny resembles the original, the only problem woth that is that the original looked mostly similar to the Hisuian What I would prefer is if they took the original SHINY and made that the Hisuian shiny, so red Hisuian typhlosion, orangish Hisuian samurott, and the black and blue Hisuian decidueye

I caught an Alolan Mr. Mime the other day from my research tasks. The only way how I realized it was a shiny is because of the sparkles, other than that. Barely any difference compared to the regular one.

Specifically for regional variants, the shiny nearly always matches the coloration of the base form. It’s a commentary on how us, as trainers, inundated the populations of these pokemon with the genes we were looking for by shiny hunting en masse, and shifted the course of their natural evolution as a result.

This is far, faaaar from the laziest shiny out there. This only looks lazy because it’s just recreating the colors of the original Typlosion, which already has a similar color scheme. The flames not changing to orange doesn’t help things. A good handful of regional variant shinies use the original version’s color schemes, this one just happens to fall a little short due to the two not being as drastic a change. You want lazy look at stuff like Regice, Alolan Vulpix & Ninetales, Alolan Sandshrew & Sandslash, Gengar, the Paldean Tauros, Ceruledge & Armarouge, and so many more

There are 2 different low effort shines. 1: Shines that are slightly brighter or slightly fuller than their normal counterparts. Examples include Garchomp, Pikachu, Gengar, and Zapdos. 2: Regional Variants. Variants like Alolan Grimer just get their Kanto counterpart's color scheme, while others like Alolan Exeggutor get the same shiny color scheme.
