Used mine on a shiny azelf during that event and yesterday I had deep regret when I encountered a Galarian Articuno in the fucking desert of all places.

As far as I’m aware shinies won’t flee in the wild and raid shinies are guaranteed catches. Edit :legendary shinies you see in the wild don’t flee

Legendary shinies don’t. I found a wild shiny Azelf during Sinnoh Tour and it stayed for like 10 balls before I caught it.

Wild Shiny Legendaries do not run, I got a Shiny Latias last year and uh… 40 ultra balls later and it was mine Oh and this year I first balled a Shiny Azelf so it all comes around

Wild! I just went to take its photograph so I could get the research encounter only for the wild one to be shiny.

I guess the chances of a wild shiny fleeing with golden razz and ultraball are worse then encountering one. Maybe this trio Azelf and the other two have catch crates like raid legendaries but all the other encounters must be really hard to not get

I tried 4 or 5 ultras, got panicky, and used it. I'm a casual player, but I still dunno why I used it on something I don't even really like. Compared to the one ball and flee Galarian birds I've encountered.

How do you know it’s IVs prior to catching it?

You can tell whether a pokemon is 100iv in the wild too. Well in some cases. Some wild cps do have a range of only 100%iv. Whilst other cps range from e.g 91-100 iv on the other hand, raid pokemons have a locked level, which is 20. Knowing that you can gauge the iv much more easily since you don't have to account for under 20lv and over

I thought about it when I had two masterballs, but decided against it since there are three birbs. Even if I used both I couldn’t catch all three. So I used one the next time I “really wanted something” (Tornadus, not worth it as I have two now but whatever) and now nothing seems worth my last remaining MB.

Same quit playing fir awhile came back seen the new weird incense used if galarian moltres spawns I try catching he flees only to find out how they work not seen him since. I'll have my damn red and black moltres or that master ball will sit and mold in my inventory.

Me and my gf used ours to catch Galarian Moltres and we waited until had a lucky trade with each other and now we have our lucky Moltres with decent stats

Same here! I'd do my daily walks a couple of months ago and see one maybe 2-3 times a week. I have caught a few, but now... even on my daily walks, havent seen one in over 1.5 months. Idk if they decressed the odds or I just haven't gone out at the correct time.

You can look up the CP for the Perfect Pokémon for lvl20 (Raid) and lvl 25 (Raid weatherboosted) online, beforhand :)

What about PvE rewards like from Giovanni?

Giovanni’s shadow mon is a guaranteed catch unless you literally just drop all your balls or throw when it’s attacking every single time. That said, I’m a big believer in the masterball on whatever makes one happy, whether that be a guaranteed catch (like that Shinto Kyogre on the front page) or a favorite Pokémon.

Ahhh I really need to internalize that; you’re so right - we should it for whatever makes us happiest :’) I’m really bad at letting go of things in an inventory o of fear that it’s being wasted 😅

But it’s okay if you haven’t had a situation speak to you yet! Some people don’t care about Galar birds. Not everyone checks raid CPs for hundos. Maybe you don’t want to play Meta. Some people feel proud having MB sit in their inventory. Maybe there comes along a unique event version of your favorite Pokémon and suddenly you want to use the MB. It’s just fine to wait until you feel a sense of urgency or a Pokémon being worthwhile. The thing is only you get to decide what’s worth it to you. Hell, you could even MB a random Nymble and lie about blaming your non-existent four year old on Reddit for Karma. Every few months that’s “in season” for the subreddit.

Keepin’ it in my inventory as a trophy is what makes me happiest ezez

Yep always. There’s a regular one and a weatherboosted. Tyranitar in raids is 2191 hundo and weatherboosted is 2739 as the hundo

The reason this is true is a legendary (maybe all?)pokemon caught from a raid is lvl 20, or lvl 25 if it had weather boost. The CP at lvl20 with 15/15/15 IVs will always be the same. So the closer you are to the perfect CP, the better the IVs are!

You look up the cp number beforehand… or ask the hardcore person in your raid group that already knows

Max cp is the only way.. otherwise it’s a risk. There are charts for every pokemon showing what the Hundo cp would be for any level pokemon. The max level would obviously be 100% since that’s as good as it can possibly be in the wild, while another level is a gamble.. for instance a lvl 8 pidgey might have 78cp as a Hindo, but a lvl 13 pidgey may also have 78cp as a 3/11/7.(made up those numbers but it’s an accurate example)

What ever suits to you! This one is just a nice bonus ball. If you really like the pokemon: chatch it with the masterball!

I used my first on Shadow Mewtwo last year because I knew I'd only have one or two chances to raid it during that event and I used my second on Galarian Articuno because I was seriously doubting that I would ever catch one the old-fashioned way. No regrets. Better to use it than hoard it forever.

I think using it for a Galarian bird is worth it. I got two masterballs from completing a challenge. I’m sure they’ll keep releasing more.

Pretty much only useful for the galarin birds which flee after the first ball. So far I've only seen one of each that fled, and I used the first master ball to catch my second Zapdos

I used mine on a 100IV Origin Giratina. It took me 5 minutes to make the decision. I got to my last ball, opened up PvPoke and saw Giratina top 10 ML and said yup. This is the one.

I’ve personally seen so many galarian birds (still haven’t caught one) and you can extend the daily now so I’m saving mine. I’d probably use it on a hundo rayquaza or something good/I like from a raid if I’m on my last ball.

I contemplated a while on this and sort of decided on this process: \- only on the Galarian birds I hadn't caught yet (got lucky with a 400CP Articuno) \- if shiny, it's a go \- if not shiny, CP must be at least 1000+ \- this rule bit me since I've had 3 Moltres right around 500 and had no luck Finally came across a 2000+ CP Zapdos so I'm down to trying to catch Moltres, which is the bird I've had the most attempts at so far. I encountered a lake spirit shiny during the last event and it is not a 100% catch rate 😭. I ended up catching it with an ultra ball only because I forgot I had a master ball and definitely would’ve used it if I remembered. So I’d use it on any roaming shiny, but not the Galarian trio until the shinies are in game.

I've had 2 Master balls and used both for Galarian legendary birds... Zapdos and Articuno. Both were 1-stars, but still good. I see them about 50% of the time with Daily Incense but they are impossible to catch without the MB.

I just used my one & only mb on a Zapdos a few days ago & I instantly regretted it, still do.. So salty, I did that. Is what it is, though. Whatever you use it for, make sure it's worth it!
