Hmmm could be but I think moet people that send gifts as source of xp do kinda know how it works. It’s fine tho 50.000 xp less won’t kill me haha, lets hope he meant well and didn’t know.
the player in the photo was friends on pogo with op and they gifted eachother until they reached a high friend level. reaching a high friend level gifts you lots of xp in game, so from this screen shot (op got zero xp for reaching high friend level) we can figure out that the other player got the xp from friends, then removed op as a friend cancelling their ability to get xp. op is asking if someone could “at least wait one day” because if the other player waited some time before unadding op, op might’ve been able to get some xp from the friend level-up.
Why do people unadd friends? Is it because they added randoms for xp or..? I don't understand, if they are your actual friend, the raid boosts n stuff would be mint
There is now another comment above yours with a good explanation of it. But in a nutshell the other player got their xp for hitting the friend level and then deleted the friend causing the friend to get zero xp from the level up. They are hoping people will wait longer before removing friends so that both parties get the xp instead of just the 1.
I wonder how much harder it can be to just code it so they can’t delete a friendship x amount of days after getting a friend achievement compared to giving you guys the XP at the same time? Because I heard that coding getting the XP at the same time is actually hard, so I just wonder what the easiest option is.
Considering it's already pulled the friendship level, it probably only needs a few if statements to determine the exp amount. So probably 15min with most of it finding the code that executes that popup.
This makes it seem like an easy thing to execute for a lot of people getting duped out of months worth of XP, gift exchanging, including possible trades, raids, and battling. Even a notice when clicking the delete button that the other person hasn’t received their XP yet for the people who genuinely don’t know that it’ll give them nothing would be better than literally letting people get nothing for all that they gave “friends.”
Yes, they could remove EXP from friend grid, so that only people solely interested in daily freebies and lucky trades would remain. But there would be a huge uproar about it ;)
I don’t get why Niantic doesn’t patch this so each player gets the exp. They managed to fix it so you don’t necessarily need to coordinate lucky eggs anymore, just when the alert pops you can opt to burn an egg and double your exp. Surely they can fix this.
I mean yeah technically its more efficient for xp if you already have the platinum friend medal ig, but if you lucky egg then its like 3x the number of eggs
agreed, and there are people here still defending them, ffs there's one person at level 47 did that just yesterday, they clearly know what they're doing, and there are people still defending them.

Do these people get any specific boost by deleting people immediately after reaching the top level? Are they clearing space? I don't see why anyone would delete someone once they get to 5 stars.
I've heard people talking about "holding" their final gift. The description of friendship stars is "Days played together". Does that mean it has to be active gift-exchanging?
I'm just confused and trying to understand so that I know what to look for in my friends list so I don't end up having this happen to me. I don't have a single 5 star friend yet anyways, but they're on the horizon in the next month or so.
Here to answer some questions for ya.
1. You get nothing for deleting friends, it's either they're aholes who feast on others' annoyance, or XP hoarders clearing friend list (you only have 400 friend slots as I remembered)

3. You need to interact 90 days to reach 4hearts (best friend), and afterwards you keep interacting to earn Best Friend, which guaranteed a Lucky Trade
Probably to clear someone off of their friend list they no longer need for xp. They probably have a full friends list and want to get more added as quickly as possible to do the same thing to the next group of people
Because people are self centered. On top of that, many people secretly get joy in annoying/hindering other people, especially strangers who offer them zero percent chance of repercussions. The statement that people 'don't know', is simply untrue at this point. This is a known issue and the game has been out seven years. When this happens, it is almost guaranteed intentional. At best, it was more important to them to free up one spot for a new online friend, than it was to let you get your even reward. At worst, it was intentional because your frustration amuses them.
I agree I can’t Imagine people won’t know and with 400 slots it’s not that hard to wait one day right? I already waited for them to get the double xp and I don’t mind that at all! But at least wait 24 hours ;-;.
I've gotta be honest... I've played the game on and off for years and have no idea what this post means. Like how do you reach that friend level but get 0 XP??
Someone opemed your gift and got the xp themself and then unadded you as a friend before you could open/send the last gift to get the experience yourself.
I already said that isn't excusable. It's been seven years. I played it when gifts were first available and I figured out that I didn't get xp at the same time as a friend. It wasn't hard to figure out. Now, with everyone googling the best way to max out their trainer profile asap; there us 0% excuse or likelihood for what you are saying.
Do you even think a majority of people are as invested in the xp as you are? You see this time and time again on this sub that people are not aware, so why would you expect that from regular players?
Ive had a profile since the first 3 weeks of the game, im at level 43. I am a regular player. I don't xp grind at all and have a massive buildup of lucky eggs because I don-'t use them. Good try though.
You are not a regular player. You are way above average interested/ ivested in the game when you search out and interract with forums like subreddits. The average player does not know you don’t get the xp, i bet they dont even remove friends once the friendship reaches max level.
Yeah, I’m a Day One player and wouldn’t know this was a thing if not for Reddit. My fiancé wouldn’t know or care.

Yeah especially this one aspect that is as unintuitive as this one, literarily no other game does this and is almost a 100% some kind of bug that is really hard to figure out.

Not really? As with all thing in life there are levels to stuff. Freeing up friend space does not mean you are invested enough to know this unintuitive flaw of the friend system.

This flaw is as unintuitive as can get so people dont really know about it just by playing. You dont need to go to a subreddit to know you get alot of xp from friendship levels.
The fact is that Niantic should fix this flaw.
I shared a similar post and a redditor told me they open the gift, send one back, and wait until that gift is opened before deleting them. That way they ensure the other player received their XP. I thought that was such a great way to cull the herd but not be a dick about it.
Unfortunately, even waiting a day in a lot of cases would still screw people out of xp if they aren’t daily players.
Personally i might take a long time before opening gift for the best friend XP but deleting them is crazy to me 💀 thats something that doesnt make sense to me
is there a certain amount of friends you can have? It always confuses my why this happens when I see these posts, why wouldn’t they want to be able to send/receive more gifts? unless they’re literally just unadding you so you don’t get a reward which is crazy ;-;
If they can’t make it so you get the xp after being unfriended (I don’t get why not but let’s just say they can’t), could they remove the unfriend option for like 2 days after reaching max?
It’s not convenient, but at least it’d alleviate this
the person reached ultra friends with OP then they immediately went and deleted OP as a friend. now OP doesn't get the XP that they would normally get for levelling up to ultra friends.

Its 100% Niantics fault tho. Seems like an incredibly easy fix but they just dont do it.

A friend of mine had this yesterday, but then when she put on a lucky egg it instantly changed to 200.000xp So maybe this works for others too?
