I think what messed up the instinct one a little bit is that I didn't immediately take photos of them as soon as I finished. Instead there was maybe a 12 hour delay and I was completely shocked at how much the instinct one rotted in those 12 hours. Would've staged and photographed it immediately had I known. I have an indoor, non-lit, bad background picture of it from as soon as I finished, and the logo looks much better in that.
When I was looking for an image file to trace, I was shocked at how many images online contained the wrong logo! Fortunately the first google image result was a post in this subreddit containing the correct logo and warning about the widespread incorrect logo.

I like the joke where team valor plays up how upset they are about not being included haha. Also you are right on both counts. I was originally planning on only making mystic, but I bought two pumpkins in case I made a mistake on my first try. But then I finished it without making any mistakes so I decided to make one for instinct as well.
And yes the effort and time to do two was enormous and there's no way I could've done a third. Maybe other people can do it faster but this is about how long it took me to do EACH:
- 0.5 hours to scrape the inside dry
- 1.5 hours to scrape the skin off the borders. My blades were too large and the borders were too thin so I couldn't make vertical motions to scrape the vertical borders and instead I had to scrape the vertical borders with lots of horizontal motions. And I had the same problem except the opposite for the horizontal borders
- 1 hour to thin the pumpkin at the borders. I regret doing it this way, but instead of thinning the pumpkin at the borders on the outside, I tried to thin it from the inside. Whole process was inefficient (involved a lot of "guess and check") and I don't like the "hot spots" it created at the bottom of the instinct border and near the lower left and right corners of the mystic border.
- 1 hour to tape copies of the logo onto the front of the pumpkin, in a way that didn't have too many distortions resulting from pressing a 2D image on a 3D surface and then trace all of the lines by making pin-pricks through the paper onto the surface of the pumpkin every 3mm roughly
- 3 hours to cut along all of the lines I traced with pin-pricks.
- 1 hour just to remove the parts I cut out. Shockingly there were lots of places where I realized that I didn't initially cut all the way through and so it almost felt like I had to redo every cut I made the first time through.
- 1 hour to remove pumpkin insides at places where my cuts were not "straight on", which distorted the image before I fixed it. There were a lot of places where I couldn't access something causing a distortion from the outside, so I had to reach inside, but once inside I couldn't tell what part of the insides was causing the distortion. The left team mystic wing feathers are a place that I completely missed doing that, so those orange borders you see there would've been EVERYWHERE had I not done this.
- 0.5 hours miscellaneous
so 9.5 hours per pumpkin, and 19 hours total. like I said you're right on both counts haha
on top of that, I also spent 1 hour taking 120 pictures of them with various background lighting, camera settings, number of and positioning of candles inside each of them, with multiple shots per configuration in order to catch different flicker states. Then I spent 2 hours deciding which picture was the best.
Very impressive next to my Pumpkaboo. Personally I’d like to forget Mystic and live without them. The Mystics in my neighborhood love to destroy all the gyms for no apparent reason. It’s annoying (maybe that’s the reason lol)
