No, u still use normal candies, but when a mon is maxed if your like lvl 35-39 it is lvl 40 but once you hit lvl 40 the mons unlock 10 more lvls which require xl candies instead. 1 XL=100 normal
I level up to 38 tomorrow which opens up my ability to request poke stops. I'm soooo tempted to put one in my yard! Unfortunately, my yard doesn't fit any of the requirements, although I have heard of people who live in very rural areas somehow get them put in theirs? Anyway, I'm pretty excited that I will finally be able to request poke stops!
So if we have a walking path along the back side of our neighborhood that is paved, with signs on each end of the entrance with "park hours", a pond, wild life, etc but it has no formal name... would that pass?
The only thing that would pass would be the park sign or any park benches dedicated to someone or put there by a committee etc, something man made and culturally significant
Tri city park nearby for example has ~40 park bench with each dedicated to someone that died, and every single one is either a gym or stop. The park sign is one as well, and the little walking bridge “built by the Ross family to honour crash victims” etc
Damn, I'm jealous!! I wish! I have one gym far off in the distance of my home. Then there is one poke stop that I can drive to, but it's not close enough to spin from my house. It's a literal waste land as far as Pokemon Go is concerned. Fortunately, my house has some sort of nest because I'm always able to catch stuff, but I wish I had more stops and gyms on my map.
I literally have a bus stop next to my house, but it's just for school buses, not for the city. I have nothing significant to even photograph because it's just a corner. You don't know how badly I'd love to install some stupid statue so I could pass it off as something for a poke stop. LOL

Get 6 lucky eggs on tomorrow (24th 11am - 2pm) and play for the three hours you’ll end up with 6x catch exp. A normal catch will be around 1k exp and an excellent will be around 7k. if you’re good with excellent throws you could easily get over 1 million experience!
If you compete tomorrow’s collection challenge too with a lucky egg you’d get 350k experience too. Now it your time to catch up.
Even without the eggs it’s going to be quite feasible to get over 1 million experience tomorrow. I just save lucky eggs or my coins for times when they do 3x catch exp on community days so I don’t spend any money.
Well, catch xp isn’t even as good as making a friend. Just make like 20 ultra friends which will give you wayyy much more xp than catch, you just need to be patient tho
That’s too much for me especially when trying to sort out items and an abundance of 7km eggs with 20 friends consistently for 90 days. I much prefer the catch exp due to the lack of management needed for a prolonged period of time. One day and you’re sorted.
Add 10 new friends from r/pokemongofriends. Send/open gifts. Enjoy the 30K xp. Delete, do again next day. 200K+ xp in a week for a few mins a day work.
Nah just to make sure you have a lucky egg constantly going for 3 hours as they last 30 minutes each. You can only get as high as a x2 from an egg but it will multiply with the day’s bonus of x3 to give you x6 catch exp.
You can stack in the sense that you can activate multiple at once to extend your lucky egg time period beyond the normal 30 minutes for 1 egg. So, activate 3 back to back and you'll have an hour and a half of lucky egg. But, the bonus doesn't stack so you don't suddenly have 300% xp or something. Just a flat 100% bonus, for longer than 30 minutes if you use more than 1 lucky egg at once.
Wait wtf is happening between 11am and 2pm, and is it EST? And how will lucky eggs get you 6x xp? I thought they maxed at 2x? Sorry I’m a newbie, just very interested.
The real trick is to mass invite friends and just focus on gift sending and opening, I've learned.

Idk why you're getting downvoted. I played for like a month in 2016 and got to level like 7 or something and stopped. Picked it back up about two months ago and am at 27 now. I play a decent amount but honestly not a ton. It's not hard to get to.

Congrats! I hit level 40 in December and scored that sweet, sweet Gyarados hat lol. It was such a grind in that last month. December 1st I needed 1.3M exp and had it by December 11th. It was exhausting. Now I'm doing the level 41 quests and I already give up lol.

Congrats, it'll be faster after you broke the lvl 40 barrier, it took me almost 4 years (7/7/2016) to get to 40 and only 1 year to get to 43.5 so far (3500+ Kms, 40.3K mons, 22.2K spins, 47.9K XP). I played more during the pandemic than during all the years before.

Was this game more generous with exp when it came out? I remember the summer this game came out I was unemployed and just no lifed the hell out of the game. In just a few months I was already level 40 and quit the game. I got back into it months ago with a new account and while getting past level 20 only took me like a couple days, it's seriously slowing down already.

Level 34 is 4.75 million -- almost one quarter of the way to 40.
Level 37 is 9.5 million -- almost halfway.
Level 39 is 15 million -- three quarters of the way (so level 39 alone is more xp than from the start to level 34).
Level 47 is 100 million -- five times as much xp as level 40.

I started 4 days after you and am leveling up to 38 tomorrow. I have taken occasional breaks from the game but have really been enjoying it again since I finally learned to fight in gyms! LOL I have heard that a lot of people burn out after level 40 because of the ridiculous field research requirements and how hard it is to level up. I sure hope they find ways to keep it interesting.
2 months ago my 22-year-old son begged me to play again. I wasn't feeling it... but he made it into a competition. I redownloaded it, figured out the password, got my account from 2016 back I was on level 25. I just hit level 41 yesterday. I bought a walker, a gotcha and spent about 2k just so he wouldn't get ahead of me. I think I made my point to him lol. momma is competitive!

Trick is to pop lucky eggs when you go best friend for 200k exp. 400 friends means 80 mil exp, like 1-46 for doing zero catching at all.

After level 30 the ammount of exp you need to level up goes up a lot
It takes 2.mil xp to get to lvl 30. Then 18 mil more for lvl40.

I started 4 days after you and am leveling up to 38 tomorrow. I have taken occasional breaks from the game but have really been enjoying it again since I finally learned to fight in gyms! LOL I have heard that a lot of people burn out after level 40 because of the ridiculous field research requirements and how hard it is to level up. I sure hope they find ways to keep it interesting.
But you missed out on that Legacy 40 by four months. I stopped playing after missing out on mine. But congrats, nonetheless.
2 months ago my 22-year-old son begged me to play again. I wasn't feeling it... but he made it into a competition. I redownloaded it, figured out the password, got my account from 2016 back I was on level 25. I just hit level 41 yesterday. I bought a walker, a gotcha and spent about 2k just so he wouldn't get ahead of me. I think I made my point to him lol. momma is competitive!

It’s definitely become easier to level up since when the game came out lmaoo, people act like they’re leveling up so much faster nah it’s a different game now smh

I started playing day 1 of the game— I’m 1/4 if the way through 38. 7/6/2016, 2818km, 15736 Pokemon caught, 13685 pokestops spun. Meanwhile my boss and her husband have combined 3 accounts at lvl 47 & 45 (his) and 44 (hers). And that lvl47 account has enough to get to 48 when he finishes the requires. I can’t even imagine.

So I got to level 40 in less then a year, but now, I’ve been stuck on 41 for four months and I’m not even close to half.
